View Full Version : My car repair/Stevie afternoon

So, my AC's been blowing out of the top vents only, not the front. Keeps my windshield nice and cool, but doesn't do much for me. I also needed to get my idle adjusted cuz my car was dying every time I'd stop, and running the AC was only making it do that more often. Anyway, I contacted some of my local Mustang buddies and one of them said to meet me at his shop today at 4:30. Problem solved, vacuum tube had come loose on the engine side of the dash and just needed to be put back on....idle was adjusted....dude only charged me $20 for about 45 min. of his time. It's 101 today - AC is working great!! YAY!
So, I leave the service station and get on the highway. DJ comes on the radio and says, "Coming up after the break, a triple shot of Stevie Nicks!" YAY again! I was about 15 miles from home...they played EO17, Leather & Lace and SDMHA. Not what I would have picked for a rock block, but still, it was cool - LITERALLY! AC blasting in my face, Stevie blasting on the radio!! :wavey:

PERFECTION.....
You know I'm not one for superstitions but I have to say it seems like whenever something big happens or something like what u just experienced I get some "Stevie sign" , lol I know i know crazy :] . Once for instance when I quit my job ( a huge thing in my life) I get into the car all giddy scared and excited and guess who's on the radio....
When my daughter was born I mean the second she was born Sara comes on the radio that I had playing ( too calm me) I mean how often do u hear Sara played on the radio? NEVER....so naturally I named her Sara....Regardless of the song, I think Sara is a great name strong and sweet all together.
and then another time ....well I could go on and on. Very strange..my Stevie  always watching

I know! It's the oddest thing, isn't it? Especially when you don't expect it!
When I moved into my house and was hauling the very last load of things from my apartment - I stood in my empty apt. with my friend Jimmy (the one friend I have w/ a pick-up truck - LOL). I took one last look around and just sort of soaked it all in. I'd lived in the same apt. for 11 years. While I was about to turn on the street my house is on, Rhiannon came on the radio. It was at that precise moment that it had finally hit me - that I was moving on to a new chapter of my life...I started bawling, like a weirdo! Cuz Stevie was "there" for me.
And I love your story about Sara! It'd be neat to compile everyone's Stevie stories - not the, "I was grocery shopping and heard Tusk," ones, or what I started this thread with - but more of the major life-changing event stories...

I experience these kind of moments all the time. I don't know if it's just pure coincidence, but it makes me feel better to think it's not.
Whenever I go out of town, or am longing for home...an FM or Stevie song comes on the radio...totally unexpected (because I might not even be listening to a classic rock station!).
It's never anything big though-nothing like the stuff you guys posted, but it's the little things that matter to me.

Thats what I'm talking about not just those major life changing moments ..but also the quite moments the ones that only U would get and then Stevie shows herself (major moments to u) Thats when it's really weird.
I think we should compile all the stories. What an awesome idea  I'm sure there are many many out there.

Waaah. I thought you were going to say you won me tix at the garage.
Yesterday they gave away tix at Sterling McCall Chevrolet. I didn't go. - Ever since being disappointed at the Copper Tank eight years ago, it's best for my blood pressure not to try these things in person. ;)
But congratulations about the repaired air. You guys were still in the 90s last night when I watched the news.

That's the one. I give Livia a hard time because she had the microphone. The guy asked the easiest questions and only called on women. I didn't even get a tee.
I remember Livia asked if anybody had visited the Nicksfix, and I was one of two people who raised their hands. Not fair. You hear that, Livia? :blob2:

Long story, but I went over two years without air in old my car in Austin & my first year in Houston. I'm not quite sure why I never bothered to get it fixed.

My freaky story is that I once saw a car explode into a big fire ball while I was listening to the song "Fire Burning". I thought it was pretty freaky. The second this car went up in flames my radio blasted with "Burning!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Wow - I don't remember a Q&A contest - I thought it was more of a raffle/door-prize deal. But, then again, my memory of that evening is a little spotty. Let's just say the Copper Tank has *really* good beer.
We were all probably sitting within 10 feet of one another. Weird.

Jake, it's not MY fault Bryan was only calling on girls. I got a free video and CD for helping him out w/ that event...but I still bought the cassette cuz I wanted it to count for FM's sales!

My first car accident with me as the driver, my tape deck was playing Don't Stop. The other car didn't.

Of course it's your fault. I geyt the worst of both worlds. You assume all the FM/Stevie guy fans are gay, and then you get a DJ who gives the prizes to women. At least if one of the gay fans were giving the prizes, I might have a shot at being called on.

Waitwaitwait - they didn't give away many CDs or videos, right? Because there was a woman sitting at the same table who had both *before* the show started, and very nicely let my friend Craig and I look at them to see what was on them.
AND, she was with another girl and a guy...

The Q&A was for tees & for the big prize - two tix to any show in the continental US. :blob1:
I think the winning question was "What year did Stevie Nicks & Lindsey Buckingham have their first album with Fleetwood Mac?" And the woman had to think about it!!! People in the crowd gave her the answer.

That girl was meeee! (Not the girl who gave the winner the answer. Jake and I were posting at the same time). LOL I was there with my friend Karen and her husband at the time. Karen's very tall and looks like Jerry Hall. Hey, I made a rhyme! When the show started, we moved from the radio people table, closer to the big screen TV.
Bryan did give me my CD and videotape as soon as I got there. And you're right, they didn't have many. My friend Steve was also there, just cuz it was a party, not so much cuz he's a big fan or anything...

OK - I remember that now.
The other thing I remember is a cute dark-haired guy (from my table or the next one over) who went up to sit on the floor during Rhiannon, so he could be really close to the screen when Stevie went crazy during the end of the song. Needless to say, he came back somewhat disappointed.

Livia, I think your voice is the main reason I can remember you. Your voice was made for microphone work.

I was gonna type earlier that the lady with the CD/video was tiny, with dark wavy/curly hair. And I'm also remembering Stevie-inspired jewelry...?
My photo is in the same thread & on my profile page. Glasses are different (I think I was wearing contacts then), but still basically look the same - big goofy babyface.

This is still freaking me out! I think both you and Jake remember more of that night than I do! Sadly, the Copper Tank went out of business recently. They just auctioned off a bunch of restaurant/bar equipment. Some type of national chain will probably take it over. Hell, we've got a Hard Rock, Fat Tuesday's and a Coyote Ugly on 6th St. now. But not a Margaritaville!
Well, speaking of Austin bars, I'm off to Momo's and maybe the Continental Club tonight. The Resentments are not playing their usual Sun. nite Saxon Pub gig, darn it!

Wow - that's so depressing. I hate it when people pull the "good ole days" routine, but in this case it's true. My first Austin experience was for the Mirror show at the Erwin center, and partying on 6th St. afterwards. The bars/clubs then were like none other I had ever been to. And now, they're the same bars you can go to in any other city in the country (world?). :distress:
Then, the next day, we went to Hippie Hollow with hangovers.
OOH - I just figured out the name for my gay country band: The Hippie Hollow Hangovers
