For me:

Randy Bachman. Man, he looks great since the surgery, and sounds as good as ever. Though no Burton Cummings. I wonder what happened there. Thing I love about Bachman is that he walked away from the Guess Who back in the day because he didn't want to be, quoting Lindsey, a Rockcock. Yet, he still recorded some great music with BTO.

Gordon Lightfoot. Considering we almost lost him, it was especially good to see him today. Though he was obviously VERY nervous.

Neil Young doing "Four Strong Winds." That song usually does it for me anyway, but hearing Neil and his wife do it was almost too much (in a good way).

Pink Floyd. Need I say more?

Stg. Pepper's. Well, more specifically, the four French horn players dressed like the Beatles. Good stuff.

Pink Floyd - all of it!

Madonna - Music was my favorite

Annie Lennox - just her at the piano for "Why"

U2 opening with Sir Paul

Joss Stone - I want her band!

The Who - Roger nailing the wail!! Gave me goosebumps!

Velvet Revolver- rockin' the **** out of "Slither." I saw them last November and I've seen every TV performance of them doing that song. Nothing compared to today's performance. And did y'all notice that Duff was wearing a t-shirt with Queen Liz's face on it?

Gonna cheat and copy over my other post from the other Live 8 thread:

There were some AMAZING performances. Standouts:

#1 - Madonna doing Music. Unbelievable. There's a reason why this woman is still as huge as she is. Stunning performance - she had 135,000 people in Hyde Park singing and dancing and going nuts!

Pink Floyd - may have been a cheesy concept with the reunion, but man, they rocked. Wish You Were Here was perfection.

George Michael - great surprise at the end of London.

Robbie Williams doing my two fave songs of his: Feel (I nearly died) and Angels. He was amazing. Sooooo hottt!

I loved Will Smith doing Prince of BelAir. Hilarious. The entire audience knew every word!!

U2 - Beautiful Day. Doves released. Enough said.

Black Eyed Peas - Let's get it star-r-r-ted.... LOVE this song.

Oh, and definitely Neil Young and his wife, Peggy, doing Four Strong Winds.

And Gordon Lightfoot. Legend.

Pink Floyd-I almost fell off the sofa when they played Wish You Were Here. I wasn't expecting that one.

The Who-Daltrey's scream in Won't Get Fooled Again. I went crazy.

Randy Bachman-He sounded great. And I loved cowbell guy.

Deep Purple-Those old men kicked Highway Star. I haven't seen them for ages. And I do mean ages.

Madonna-What can you say? She's Ma-f*cking-donna.

I missed Elton. Did anyone see him?

Keith Urban kicking all sorts of a$$ in Philly. His hair is brunette! From beginning to end.

Pink Floyd kicking all sorts of a$$ in London....and giving me chills! Ditto, from beginning to end.

A-Ha sounding decent in Berlin, except for the bad harmonies on Take On Me. Of course, Morten's dang ear piece was screwed up! They were rad still.

Awww...I missed Will doing the Fresh Prince theme?! Ack!! I know every dang word!

I think Madonna would be a great live show. I've never seen her live. Her tix were pretty expensive.
Pink Floyd. Do I sense a reunion tour?

:] George Michael showing up to sing with Paul :]

U2
Madonna
Rob Thomas of what I did get to see of him
My hubby loved Pink Floyd being there
Showing the girl that was so ill when she was young and Madonna holding her hand while singing. That was cool. Don't remember her name but she was a beautiful young woman.

Did I say George Michael. LOL!! In the 80's, I loved that guy and got to touch his boots during a concert. I guess it would be the same as touching Stevie's legwarmers in concert :D :blob2: I was just happy he showed up.

I didn't see Duran Duran either. We taped the show and re-watched it again. The way the interviewers and VJ's kept interrupting was confusing and just messed up everything

What made me sad, was the fact that MTV and VH1 only showed performances from Philly and London mostly.

Also, I beleive LInkin Park got WAY too much air time, their were better artists who deserved it.

how live 8 increases 3rd world despair:

india or no india, i had to watch this event, so after an extensive search, i found outside the village a punjabi hotel, which is the only one here that provides rooms with TV (which costs 4 times more than regular ones but nevermind), so i switched one luxury (hot water) for another (cable!), thinking i beat the system.
by the time the concert in london started, i already had 6 guests there, all gathering around a 15" tv set, screaming with anger about the poor programming choices of hindu tv execs.
the only way to see something was on BBC World's coverage. in our collective despair, we all drowned our sorrow with what thing which the chinese-english war in the 19th century was named after. i guess i'm gonna have to download everything when i'm back home.

I loved to see Brian Wiilson singng Good Vibrations!Actually he sounded like he was almost dead and it wasn't as good as the Beach Boys 20 years ago on Live Aid, but hey, it's Good Vibrations!!
And of course, who didn't love to see Pink Floyd! It looked like Roger and Nick had most fun, which is interesting to see, because they started talking to each other again like 2 years ago! I hope they will go on tour again (I don't really know if I want a new solo album, or something that will destroy my illusions of Pink Floyd as "The Band"!)
Annie Lennox was amazing! She is the only one who can proudly say that she never looked better before (and Why? was amazing of course)!
I have only seen "One" by U2, that's what they showed here, but it was the right song for them to do!
Did anyone really saw the Cornwall part of Live 8 with Peter Gabriel? They didn't show much of it, but I would've loved to see more of this!

Yeah, t was a great show, but I hated the german broadcast, they always switched and concentrated too much on the Berlin part of Live 8! For example, I couldn't see the full R.E.M. set, because she showed a german act there!

OT... sorry... but I'd suggest if you ever have a chance again to see her live, it's well worth the wad of cash. I saw her on the Who's That Girl tour in 1987 from 5th row on the floor, and I swear, I can still feel the pounding in my chest of the bass and remember the feeling of the entire floor standing up on their seats jumping up and down. It was wild. One of the best shows of my life. Saw her a couple more times through the years, too - once from VERY far back, and it was still amazing. She is a true professional and pure talent. As she proved yesterday at Live 8, she never gives a half-assed performance. There's a reason she is still as huge as she is 20 years later....

Brian has actually had several strokes and finally has a debilitating mental illness under control.
I give him HUGE props for going out and playing. And I think he sounds great. The guy's a freaking genius.
I really enjoyed his set, even though it was not technically perfect.

I would definitely go see her. Unfortunately, she has never played here. So on top of the expensive tix, I'd probably end up flying to Vegas or somewhere to see her. But hey, I've done it for Stevie, so...

Madonna was the best live show I ever saw. I saw her a year ago almost to the day and it was amazing. She may not be my favorite person, but she knows how to perform. Her concert was so on and I never wanted to pee or get a drink...I just wanted to watch HER.

I can't wait to see her Live8 performance.

They've played around 4:00, I think. About the songs, I've heard:
Wild Boys
Reach Up For The Sunrise
Save a Prayer

And I think there was another one.
