This is on the NicksFix:

Beauty and the Beast
If you have attended any of Stevie's shows this year, you have seen an amazing version of Beauty and the Beast, which had clips from the original movie playing behind the stage. The original film version has been newly restored in a special edition DVD. This new digital transfer was created from the 35mm restoration duplicate negative and a high-definition Spirit Datacine. The soundtrack was mastered from an optical soundtrack print.
Synopsis
Once upon a time, in a world of magic and wonder, the true love of a beautiful girl may finally dispel the torment of a feral but gentle-hearted beast. Beauty and the Beast (La Belle et la Bête) is a landmark feat of cinematic fantasy in which master filmmaker Jean Cocteau conjures spectacular visions of enchantment, desire, and death that have never been equaled. The Criterion Collection proudly presents the original film version of Mme. Leprince de Beaumont’s fairy-tale masterpiece in a newly restored spectacular new special edition.

I know I've said this many times, but I can't say it enough... if you're a hopeless romantic, then do yourself a favor and buy a copy of this film.

Why is that a spoiler?

Why is that a spoiler?

Because it gives away a part of the setlist and some people may be avoiding such spoilers.

Some people don't like to know anything about the shows before they see them.
Problem is, you can read that text without even opening the thread if you hold the mouse over the thread title.
The spoiler hiding thing doesn't work on that so some people will find out if they like it or not, hehe

Not if I go back right now and delete that first sentence - and then all of YOUR posts will be the spoiler! Mwah-ha-ha!!

Well I am evil :D I enjoy telling plot twists in films too (Bruce Willis is a ghost!)

Cool that Stevie has used clips from the film though. I definitely need to watch it again (while I listen to Beauty & The Beast of course)

Actually Diss this version has only been out for about sixth months, maybe a little more. Criterion actually did do a new restoration and bump up to anamorphic. The covers are different with the original being black and white and the new criterion cover being color. The spine number did not change.

I have both versions and I can assure you that they've both been out for years. The colorized cover version that I have is even dated 2003 and the first release came out in 1998. The reason the spine number (#6) didn't change is because they replaced the old OOP release with the new one when it came out.

You may be right, I often do lose track of time.

I'd pay good money to see a roomful of us ledgies sitting quietly watching "Orpheus" or "Testament of Orpheus," our mouths open slightly in befuddlement & wonderment or maybe even boredom.

Would you be open to treat and choose Black Orpheus by Camus instead? :D

Would you be open to treat and choose Black Orpheus by Camus instead? :D I'd prefer showing "Black Narcissus" by Powell & Pressburger for everyone!

That one's on a Criterion disc, too!

I'm a big Powell & Pressburger fan, & if I could I would invite everyone over for a showing of the uncanny & disturbing "Tales of Hoffmann."
