I saw it the other night and I think it'll be good. It should be interesting to see what he did with it and Naomi Watts certainly helps.

I cannot WAIT to see this. I think Brody is miscast as the romantic lead in anything, though he is a fine actor, buy it looks way cool.

Batman Begins, amazing?! ...hardly.

I can't wait for Jackson to get back to work on the world of Tolkien. If he does The Hobbit, we'll all be in for a big treat come 2007 or 2008. And speaking of Peter Jackson has anyone seen him lately? He lost like 100 lbs...! Looks like a totally different person.

I thought so. It laid waste to the previous four, imo. I never knew how refreshing it would be to watch actors in a Batman movie NOT ham it up to the hilt and for a Batman movie to actually have a good story.

I see your point, and as much as I love the first two movies that Tim Burton did........they STILL haven't gotten it right. I don't have any more faith in this new "run" of Bat-movies than I did in the Schumacher crap ones.

Tim Burton did the 1989 Batman movie and the 1992 Batman Returns movies...both of the ones with Michael Keaton in the title role. I like Bat Returns as much as the first one, even though it was a bit bizarre. I think Burton got the morbid darkness of the character right, but the stories were so wacky.

I'll be damned, you're right. Weird, I always thought he only did the second one. I haven't even seen the whole first one. But I've seen the second one, like, 10 times. I think it's really good.

That's ok Amber...I'll forgive you this grievance! =P

I still remember the way I felt when I was a kid and saw the first Batman with Keaton in it. I felt the same way when I saw Batman Returns when I was 13 yrs old. I did not get that feeling at all with this new movie. Perhaps it's because I'm old now.

I've never read any of the comics and am not a huge Batman fan in that respect, so I'm only going from the movies. :) To me, Batman Begins was better acted, better written (I was so incredibly happy that the characters didn't speak in billboard), better directed, and the tone was much darker and palpable than all of the others because it wasn't cartoonish and campy. I liked the fact that it centered around Bruce Wayne and Batman, not the villain(s). In the others, Bruce/Batman took the backseat to whatever villains were on display; he was pretty negligible. It certainly helped that Bale can out-act all of the previous Batmans without even trying, too. But that's just how I saw the new one when compared to the old ones.

Walken was Walken, per usual, and Devito was fine, but it was Pfeiffer who stole the show from everyone! She? Was magnificent. You forgot you were watching Michelle Pfeiffer, she WAS Catwoman, much in the same way that I felt I was watching Bruce Wayne and Batman, not Christian Bale. My problem with the earlier films, with the exception of Pfeiffer, was that they were just excuses for famous actors to ham and vamp it up. Got kind of annoying after awhile to me.

Oh. Well, yeah. It got annoying to me after Batman Returns. :p course, they never assembled such a good cast again. I love Walken as Walken. He can Walken it up till the cows come home (wait, I'm already at home! har!) and I will be happy. Devito grossed me out, but he was really good. God, when he was eating the fish? Blergh!

What I liked about it, even though I guess it was cartoonish, is that it wasn't bright and primary colored cartoonish like the other ones. It was dark cartoon, which is better, IMO. It makes it less overwhelming to me. But I love the Batman animated series, too. I'm actually looking forward to this new batman being less cartoonish.

No, I don't think Keaton hammed it up, I meant the villains. Keaton was fine and I think he's a great actor, but I don't think he was the best Batman and I'm still waiting for him to make a sequel to Beetlejuice, dammit. Nicholson annoyed the **** out of me. He played himself on a crack binge in that movie. He's one of those actors, to me, like Meryl Streep, where you see enough of their movies and eventually everything seems rote and stale.

Hmm...I see your point. I think the thing that held Keaton back is probably is physical stature. When it comes to superheroes you kind of have to "look the part"....especially with a character like Superman.

I thought Nicholson was genius in As Good As it Gets.

That and I thought he was a bit too pensive in a lot of scenes in the first one. By the time the second rolled around, he was shafted for Pfeiffer, Devito, and Walken, so there wasn't much to do with the character.

I thought Nicholson was genius in As Good As it Gets.

Me, too! I hated the movie, but thought he was brilliant. Especially when he told off Kinnear's nurse, I was in hysterics. He's good in comedies these days. About Schmidt is just about one of the funniest things I've ever seen.

I'll have to check it out sometime, I know it airs during the day on some local stations. I haven't seen Hamill in much, to be honest, but he just has that look to him, you know? I see your point on that one too...but that's the character. He's very brooding and dark. The mistake they made with the first one was by giving him some closure on the death of his parents by killing the Joker. In fact, in the comics, the Joker has nothing to do with his parents death. Besides, Keaton just LOOKED SO COOL in the outfit! I found these awesome pics a few days ago online that I'd never seen.

My two favorite parts...

"Never, never, interrupt me, okay? Not if there's a fire, not even if you hear the sound of a thud from my home and one week later there's a smell coming from there that can only be a decaying human body and you have to hold a hanky to your face because the stench is so thick that you think you're going to faint. Even then, don't come knocking. Or, if it's election night, and you're excited and you wanna celebrate because some fudgepacker that you date has been elected the first queer president of the United States and he's going to have you down to Camp David, and you want someone to share the moment with. Even then, don't knock. Not on this door. Not for ANY reason. Do you get me, sweetheart?"

"Where do they teach you to talk like this? In some Panama City "Sailor wanna hump-hump" bar, or is it getaway day and your last shot at his whiskey? Sell crazy someplace else, we're all stocked up here."

Now, STAR TREK, I know every line in every episode, I am a true defender of the Kirk/Spock faith! Ask Diss! He'll tell ya! :] :blob1: :blob2:

ps: I wish blob 1 and blob 2 bounced at different times from each other...
That's the movie I was talking about too. That was the only movie where Godzilla was actually scary. Now Godzilla vs. Megalon... What a cheese fest. I mean, the part where that giant robot man holds Gigan and Godzilla slides on his tail and kicks him is worth the price of admission alone.

And as for Star Trek, I'm more of an 80's movies/Next Generation fan.

Me too! Captain Kate was always my favorite. As for Jeri Ryan, can her breasts be any bigger?
