View Full Version : Cincinnati Show/Edge Of 17 Photos

Hello everyone!
Cincinnati was beyond fantastic, Stevie looked and sounded amazing, and I loved the "hula dance", and the pants, pretty much rocked too!
I had made a doll for her, and was against the stage for the Edge handshake, and when she got to me, I handed her "Angel" (my doll's name) and she turned her around to look at her, and her eyes got real big, and she said to me "OOOH she is SO PRETTY!" and took my hand....I was about to pass out by then, and so all I could say was "She is YOU!" (meaning that is why she is pretty), and she said, "Thank you" and then went on shaking other fans hands. If anyone snapped a photo of her with my doll, please email me at [email protected] I will be happy to pay you for a copy, or send you some Stevie memoribilia, whichever you prefer.
I have attached photos of Angel.
Thank you, Stevie, for a MOMENT to never forget. It was wonderful to meet some of the awesome fans in Cincy, last night, too!
With love, Barbara

That's such a great story Barbara, and I can't believe you made that doll yourself! Wow, I wish I had talent like that! :)

Thanks so very much, Marissa & Brian!
I spent quite a while making "Angel" and I wanted so much to be able to give it to Stevie, and to have her take her in her hands and say those words to me, well, that was worth a lifetime of my work. It was a thrill, and I still cannot believe it happened...So many people told me they saw her talking to me and looking at the doll (they had seen me carrying her around all night, LOL!) and her feathers had gotten wet when it rained as we were getting out of the car, and this nice guy at the t-shirt vending place asked "would you like a bag for her to keep her dry?" I was like wow, thanks! By the time we got to our seats, it had quit raining, so I took her back out to see the show...:)
Thanks again, I really appreciate it so very much, your compliments.

I took some photos, and dropped them off at the lab just now, if they turn out I will post some for you guys, I was so overwhelmed with the doll events, I was crying and could barely see thru the lens, but I did snap a few :)
If anyone else took any I would love to trade with you, or if mine stink, I would be happy to purchase re-prints...just eMail me!

Will get mine back Sunday...

Nice story Barb. Your doll is gorgeous and really does look like Stevie.

The only thing I didn't enjoy last night was the HOT AND HUMID weather. Poor Stevie must have had a hard time keeping her hair from frizzing out and her makeup from running. :o

Other than that, it was a BLAST! :woohoo:

Oh, I know! It was hot, but not raining until we pulled into the "VIP" lot (my friend had a pass for that), as soon as we cut off the car, BANG, "the rain comes down"...LOL! I had printed out my ticket from Ticketmaster, and I was like, if this gets ruined and I cannot get to my pit row D what am I gonna do?
So I was like shielding it with everything, LOL, it did get wet, but luckily was still scannable (the bar code) and readable. Then as soon as we get under the pavillion...ta da..rain stops, Thanks Mother Nature!
Stevie's hair looked great, a bit of curl at the beginning, and I didn't see it frizz at all...and her makeup, well, I have never seen her makeup wilt or run, and she looked flawless when I took her hand.
Thank you so much for the compliment on my doll, I am so happy I took like 20 photos of her before I gave her up...

have a great night!

Thank God we were under the pavillion when the rain, uh more like torrential downpour came. I felt so bad for all the people trying to get to their seats, not to mention the poor folks on the lawn. I thought it was kind of surreal though, after the rain stopped, there was steam coming off the pavement, like fog. It was real Stevie-esque. I know what you mean about the tickets. Even if you were in the venue, if you left and had to get back to your seat, you better have your ticket. I was guarding it with my life! Have a great night too Barb. Too bad it probably won't top last night!

Oh, that doll is so sweet! I'm glad you were able to give it to her and hear her reaction! Anyone know if Stevie has a huge doll collection? I thought I heard that somewhere...

Another newbie question - is Stevie's hair naturally curly? I've seen pictures of her with curly hair and it looked natural, but I wasn't sure since her hair looked like it was straight and glossy as a child.

I might be wavy, like mine. When I was little my hair was shiny and straight as a stick, but once puberty hit it became wavy/curly.

How was attendance? I know the first 2 shows were a little bare in areas..just wondering how it looked? The article about Cinci said there was around 10000 there

Hi Chris!
When I first arrived, just about 7:45 there were lots of empty seats (while Vanessa played/sang, she has a lovely voice, I am not very familiar with her songs, just knew two of them)...and when Stevie started I was in my seat which was in the pit, so when I looked behind me, it looked packed, but everyone was standing up and having a great time, so it was hard to see actually how many people were there, everyone was So nice and So into it, really was great meeting so many cool fans! No one made fun of me being all dressed up either, LOL! I know some people think that is silly, but I have done it since my first Stevie show, so why stop now? I have fun gathering all the chiffon and stuff, even tho it was SO HOT. I did see a few shawls, and cute outfits on some girls, and I gave away a few shawls from my shoppe to some fans who were super cool. Was a wonderful experience all the way.

Thanks, everyone :)

Capacity at Riverbend is about 20,000. Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers played there on the 12th and drew over 19,000. At Stevie's show I was six rows back from the stage. The few times I did take my eyes off the stage and looked behind me, it appeared like the pavillion was full. I didn't notice the lawn, but I'd venture to say that there was a "little" room there. Not the best night for sitting back there anyway. I think 10,000 is a respectable number for Stevie, considering she's not promoting anything new and drew around 12,000 on her TISL show there. The place became considerably more crowded once it got close to Stevie's set. I enjoyed Vanessa's concert quite a bit. I wouldn't think it's an easy thing to do to go center stage by yourself with just a piano. I like her voice and her playing. It's easy to see why Stevie would think highly of her.

I would vote for straight, naturally. Altho she has had plenty of body waves and perms, over the years... I don't see any wave or curl at the root when the humidity hits, so I would say it is naturally straight-ish. And it is super glossy straight on the B/N cover, she always reminded me of a beautiful American Indian on that cover, with the hand tinted feathers in her hair and that long dark hair...GORGEOUS!

Mine did the same thing. And damn was I pissed!!! Now I have to spend 30 minutes with a flat iron to get it the way it was when I was little :(

I feel your pain. Mine used to be black, shiny, straight, and thick. The only thing that's the same now is that it's thick...other than that it's dark brown, frizzy and wavy.

Cory Buckingham said in the tour dairies that Stevie's hair was naturally wavey...

I believe the wavy story about Stevie's hair. Mine is that way too, have to fight to get it straight, thus the big rollers Stevie wears before shows.

Barb, the doll's face is sooo Stevie, I can't get over it! I am touched by your story and I'm not even her.

Thank you so very much, Laura...I hand painted her face, and her eyes are just so mesmerizing, I tried to make them so dark, like Stevie's, but with so much life and magic! This is the first and only thing I have ever given to Stevie, as I could never think of something "worthy" of someone so amazing.
I decided to make Angel, as she is one of a kind now, and I am so happy I did.
Thank you, again!

Barbara

Barb, I just wanted to let you know I was at the concert and while I do not have any photos (at least I do not think I do I have not gone through my photos yet) of you giving her the doll, I saw it!!! It was so exciting, I did see the excitement on her face and I thought how precious, and the doll looked gorgeous, actually I even thought she looked like the Rhiannon dolls on the screen from earlier 8-)))))) How totally coool of you 8-))))))))))) I will check my photos after work today, my camara was small and from what I could tell as I was leaving the show, there were a bit *rough* looking, but I did take several during her walk through so I will be sure to double check :blob1:

Oh thank you so very much :) I appreciate you looking for me...I could never forget that moment, but I would just adore to "see" it from another view other than my tear filled eyes from memory...
Thanks too, for the compliments on Angel, I did my very best to make her "Stevie" in every way :)

Thanks again!!!~Barbara

No offence.. It's a nice jesture I guess... But it's a doll  ... Doesn't even look like Stevie - how could it.. It's a doll.

As long as Stevie had that look of appreciation on her face, that was more than I expected, along with her "oooh she is so pretty" words to me...that was more than enough for my work on Angel :)
