Well before this switch up I think it was her most rocking concert set in a LONG time. I mean loosing a hard rocker like INTK in favor of Landslide upsets the balance quite a bit, And Dreams is still quite uptempo in my my mind, and Rhiannon is too, it just has a slow intro.

INTK was awesome in Grand Rapids--I love this song--Stevie rocked out with her tambo on this one--that alone made it worth it to me :) I was honestly waiting for Landslide though in Grand Rapids--not that I missed it or anything--but I really thought it would be in the set...... I didn't expect Circle Dance at all and am soooo glad she has kept that song in the set!!

It seems like she'll always stick to the "safe songs" because a lot of her fans are like my friend, who at first mention of Stevie says, "Oh, I love 'Landslide!'" Or perhaps the songs she sticks with are easier for her to do vocally now?

I'd like to see her take a shot at other ones like "Twisted" or "Rooms On Fire," but I think we're lucky to see her singing this well at 57. I fear the day she might get up on stage and be like Sinatra was in his later years - just saying the words rather than actually singing.

I'm glad she put Landslide back in. She dropped it on TISL and my DJ friend bitched for a weel, "How can Stevie do a concert and not include Landslide?" It was kinda like Bruce Springsteen coming to town and the not playing "Born to Run".

I think that Landslide is one of her most poetic and touching songs ever. Filled with acumen and emotion, it can bring a tear to my eye at the drop of a top hat. But then I suppose we're all aesthetically tied to different Stevie songs...c'est la vie. I for one will have my jaw on the floor the entire time Landslide slips from her pouted lips.

I personally like both songs I'm just sick to death of them both. Unfortunately I have learned recently that the world does NOT in fact revolve around me so I will have to suffer through the songs that I have heard for the last 20 years to hear a couple of gems every once in awhile. Of course like I said, I was very pleasantly surprised by Stand Back last night another song that has not been a favorite of mine for some time.

I agree. I also don't think Landslide is more recognizable than Dreams. I think to most people (not us) Dreams and Rhiannon are almost her signature songs.

But, this is what sucks about living on the west coast when Stevie or FM tour. By the time they get here, they've gone through several setlist changes and dropped songs. I love Landslide, but I heard it at 6 different shows last year and year before. I was ready to hear Stevie solo. Not Stevie with FM, but not.

If she wants to do Landslide-which I could do without-why can't she just ADD it to the set? Why does she have to REPLACE a song-especially a rocking one? I know it would NEVER happen, but I'd like to see her take a page from Robert Plant's first two solo tours: NO FM SONGS, only SOLO stuff!! Just one tour, for a change. Or she could just go ahead and quit rocking altogether, and just sit in a chair and do a whole set of boring ballads. The "Sleep Like a Baby" Tour. Or maybe just do all covers. The "Why Did I Bother Writing All Those Songs" Tour. :distress:

I think Stevie has a phobia of not pleasing the crowd. Like, she wants to make sure everyone is enjoying themselves. So for every rare song, there needs to be five radio hits to balance things out. Someone needs to have a talk with her because clearly something is wrong.

I'm still pissed that I never heard running through the garden live! Damn, why did she have to drop that?

And of all these signature songs, the only one I would be upset if it got dropped would be Rhiannon. That song is just so amazing!!! Standback, I would also be mad if it got dropped. Landslide- I was thrilled when that song wasn't on this tour. Oh well.

Why does she have to REPLACE a song-especially a rocking one?I think Stevie just doesn't like being out onstage for 85 minutes or more. Certainly her band-for-hire could keep playing for two hours or more, but she just doesn't want to rock & roll that long every night.

She could if she got to bed at a reasonable hour & didn't sleep until lunchtime. Her biorhythm is all ****ed up. Your body does most of its oxidation fighting & cleaning up of free radical cells at NIGHT in the DARKNESS if you are deeply sleeping.

With her habits, Stevie is shortening her life span.

How could it so long as your habits were consistent? :shrug:Circadian rhythms -- like every person's sleep rhythm -- control the body's biological clock. These body rhythms are modulated by the hypothalamus (a part of the brain).

Light directly affects the circadian sleep rhythm. Melatonin (a chemical produced in the brain) modulates light entrainment. Most melatonin is secreted by the brain at NIGHT. Other disease-fighting & free radical-fighting chemicals are secreted mostly at night, including prolactin, testosterone & growth hormone.

Sleeping in daylight may give you the rest you need, but human beings are organically predisposed to sleep at night, in darkness, thanks to thousands of years of evolutionary fine-tuning. You break down less protein at night, in darkness, than you do in daylight -- regardless of whether you are sleeping.

You break down less protein at night, in darkness, than you do in daylight -- regardless of whether you are sleeping.
I tend to believe that, but I also read that people's "clocks" are set in the womb, due to various factors. So, whattrewesupposedtodo?!

Circadian rhythms -- like every person's sleep rhythm -- control the body's biological clock.

Pretty interesting stuff... but i also think there are just some people out there (like me) who either prefer or are more comfortable sleeping during the day and staying up late... we had a thread about this last week.. no matter how hard i try, i just never really feel "comfortable" getting up very early in the morning and being in bed by 10pm.. would this logic still apply to someone like me do you think?

Yeah, I question the wisdom of "must sleep at night" too. I think as long as you eat right, exercise and don't isolate yourself from others, being nocturnal or somewhat nocturnal doesn't have to be unhealthy.

I think Stevie just doesn't like being out onstage for 85 minutes or more.

Totally disagree. She can't just add songs becasue there are curfews when she's doing an outdoor shed. And plus, she can't just sing and sing and sing. She's taking care of her voice. There are limits.

And Stevie's been living by her own internal clock her entire life. As do all of us. If you took a hundred people and let them fall asleep naturally every night and wake up naturally every morning, they wouldn't ALL go to sleep when the sun went down and rise with the sun. If that were the case, people in Canada would go to sleep at 4:30pm in the winter. And in the Arctic, land of the midnight sun, they'd just never go to sleep. I can tell you for free, as soon as I'm on vacation, or extended days off from work, I naturally fall into a "go to sleep at 3am, rise at noon" rhythm. If I had to get up at 6am and go to bed at 10pm every night, THAT would shorten my life span! My normal work day has me getting up at 9:45am (which is an effort) and giong to bed around 1:30 or 2am. (See the thread in chit chat about night owls versus early birds - I think it's over there...)

And plus, she can't just sing and sing and sing. She's taking care of her voice. There are limits.Straw man argument. I said that she doesn't like to sing more than 80 or 85 minutes every night, & that includes percussion/guitar solos & costume changes. That's a short performance.

I'm merely saying that melatonin & other chemicals produced in the hypothalamus are produced in far greater quantities when the eyes have registered nightfall/darkness.

Studies are ongoing, but these chemicals possibly strengthen the immune system & reduce free radicals in the body. They may even serve as immuno-modulators in cancers & tumors.

Regardless of whether you prefer to sleep at 3 a.m. or 3 p.m., the pineal gland secretes the vast majority of melatonin throughout the night, while the body is in deep or REM sleep.

I'll also go out on a limb here & suggest the possibility that Stevie wouldn't be downed by illness so frequently -- on tour & off -- if she slept deeply through the dark night. Stevie has gotten sick on virtually every tour she's ever done, solo & with Mac. She's not exactly the acme of bushytailed health, & I'm suggesting that her sleep habits may have something to do with that.

Her show is much longer then that. Vegas was over 100 minutes. I think it was 110 minutes long. And this Gold Dust show is an even longer setlist and includes an opening act. So, really she is out there for well over an hour and a half. Almost two hours (including drum/guitar solos), which isn't bad.

OHMYGAWD don't joke about that
i would fly to the next show right now to see THAT lol

Not true. My friend Kandace, whom Stevie invited backstage in Ireland, was given a set list. The songs on the list have the running time next to them and at the bottom itis added up to make the show in Vegas appoximately 87 minutes. Give or take a few minutes for her to change...
Caesars has a 90 minute time limit and her set was just under that.

Her opening act does not count as part of Stevie's set. Stevie has NEVER, ever had really long solo shows. She normally limits them to about 80 or 90 minutes, no longer.
When you compare her solo gigs to the Mac ones...they seem so much shorter. I remember leaving one of the TISL shows by 10:00.

Every five minutes in Stevie's glorious presence probably feels like a full hour to him, so therefore an 85-minute concert might feel like 17 hours.

Not true. Her earlier TISL shows ran at 100 minutes or longer... I have them as reference, so i am certain of this..

yea..but then didn't she shorten them? My post says "normally"..she normally doesnt play longer than 80 or 90 minutes solo. If she dropped two songs from Tisl...which she did...it would take off ten minutes. My point was Vegas wasn't over 100 minutes really anyway and that her solo shows are much shorter than the Macs.

she shortens every tour she does after the first couple of weeks... you said she "never ever" does long solo shows.. but that isn't correct.. she has.

Obviously you just want to argue. I do not think even a 100 minute solo show is long so my point remains valid.

i don't want to argue with you sweetheart :)

just saying, that she has in fact done shows longer than 90 minutes in her career...

anything more than an hour and a half is a pretty long show, IMO.. :woohoo:
