View Full Version : What's up with the ticket sales??

Ok, so i keep hearing about how the first two "Gold Dust" shows didn't sell well... That there were literally empty sections all over the place in both Cleveland and Grand Rapids... are people losing interest in seeing Stevie play live??
The "Two Voices" shows sold very well (with the exception of Mansfield where they were literally giving away tickets for free to fill up the venue)... but perhaps most of those sales or at least half of those sales were from Don/Eagles fans?? Maybe because she is not promoting a thing on this tour, people aren't interested in going to see her?

two words ... TICKET PRICES  The best seats for cleveland were $125.00 Im sure a lot more people would go if tix were affordable

pricey tickets it could very well be that most people do not like to attend a concert unless an artist is on tour to promote a new studio release/project.....Cause otherwise you get tagged with the dreaded "Nostalgic Act" label, Which can sometimes be the kiss of death for a tour.

Yeah, actually I'm sure it's the prices. Stevie's most expensive shows for me before were about $85 (that was TISL in Boston if I recall). Now she has raised that another $45 dollars, more than 50% which is a bit much if she's not promoting something and thus has little to no press.

Like I've been trying to say all along I think in general it is a mistake to tour with nothing to promote and having just saturated the market with a 2 year Fleetwood Mac tour.If she wanted to do this smaller venues of maybe 5,000 -7,000 seats would have been a good idea and with lower ticket prices.I even know some die hard fans who are sitting this one out which is not a good sign.I did not plan on going myself but with all the good reviews and the covers I 'll probably go if some really good seats come up for Concord before the show. She really does look great in the pictures posted on here and she seems to be having a good time unlike on TISL and alot of the SYW shows too.But if some of the people I would consider die hards that have not missed a tour in decades are not going this tiime out it does not bode well for ticket sales.

Personally, I think she's touring too close to the SYW tour. That was a very long tour and they hit a lot of cities twice. I think a lot of people figured they've already seen her recently, perhaps, twice in two years. Plus ticket prices don't help. Maybe if Stevie had put out a new solo album and then toured in maybe a year, the response would have been better.

Yep, a combination of market saturation and ticket prices. She played Cleveland, for example, in 2001, 2003 and 2004 (with Fleetwood Mac and solo). I like BombaySapphire3's idea of doing smaller venues (e.g. House of Blues-type places) -- that would have been a great idea. Then I think she could have gotten away with these high ticket prices.
Honestly, I don't think people are willing to pay as much to see Stevie solo as with Fleetwood Mac, and these prices are just as high as SYW.

All good points....
Also, summer is concert season - most people can only afford to attend a few shows at the most-especially if they have to travel. If I was a modest Stevie fan, I'd opt for seeing someone I've never seen before. But that's just me.

That and the fact that the front row seats, GREAT seats are all reserved, can't get them until maybe the day of the show or pay broker or ebay prices. They just aren't releasing great seats right off the bat, and pisses people off like me! And then there's TicketB@#$%^&*(!

I haven't been to many concerts at all, but I remember paying $70 for a third or fourth row seat to a YANNI  concert back in 1997!! So when Stevie's tix were priced at $85-$125 at the Cleveland show, it honestly didn't seem that expensive. How much were the tickets at TISL? I'm curious to see how much more these were.
It probably would've been better if she had an album to promote or took a year off after SYW, but selfishly I'm glad she didn't.

You hit the nail on the head about the lack of a new album in my opinion. I'm always glad when she or Fleetwood Mac goes out on the road, but I REALLY don't want it to disintigrate into an Eagles thing where all they do is tour with the same material. I think Fleetwood Mac and Stevie have earned a measure of integrity by not doing that.

Right on with that last sentence. I almost SH## when I saw the CLeveland prices. I know Stevie herself probabl doesnt have much to do with pricing, but whichever one of her "People" did should get his or her ass canned on the spot

Not only that - but she is not playing anything but her same old set list, with the exception of Circle Dance and Rock and Roll. I think many people are loathe to shell out beaucoup bucks to see essentially the same songs or, to put it another way, pay $100 to see her do two covers.

She has done like 200 dates in the last couple of years and most people have already seen her at least once on tour recently. I am even considering not seeing this show just because my bank account is drained from the Vegas and SYW shows. She is doing two Florida dates. Under normal circumstances, I would go to both shows. But if I can't get great seats, I will pass because it is pretty much the same setlist as Vegas...
So, for me at least, the reason is hight ticket prices for crappy seats. I'm not going if I have to sit out on the lawn! I've been checking ticket master daily and I have not seen any Floor seats for the shows I want to go to. So it just isn't worth it unless I can get some decent seats.

I also think these will be more isolated incidents, rather than a whole tour...There were quite a few trouble spots on the "Trouble in Shangri La Tour" in terms of ticket sales, even with a brand new album out, tv specials, and the whole thing. Her Cincinatti, Bristow, Raleigh, and Virginia Beach shows had very low sales in 2001..and most markets were not sold out...
I think as she starts to move out to the west coast the sales will pick up a lot too

If all of these shows are selling poorly, why doesn't she do smaller venues like Caesar's Palace, House of Blues, etc? She could even do intimate clubs. At least that way, her shows would "sell out" even if that only meant 3,000 tickets were sold.

I consider myself a diehard fan. I am not going to these shows because of the set list. I saw the henley/nicks show in MA and that was enough. Shes had the same set for seven years. This set list is very disappointing. Woo hoo two covers, why do covers when she has so many gems she could pull out on her own.
ehhhh, she needs to do more rarities.

It has been so unchanging, and we all have seen her so damned many times that two new songs is miraculous. Of course, other artists are more adventurous...but for Stevie 2 new songs is a big deal ! Far better than a stick in the eye and more than I was expecting. I may even go now.

You know, I was thinking this morning about what Stevie said awhile back about her not thinking a lot of her songs for many years were "memorable." I wonder if that's why she sticks to the same old tired ****, because she doesn't care to really perform a great deal of her material from '86-'94 that she finds sub-par.

I don't understand how you can consider yourself to be a die-hard fan and skip an entire tour. Even if she played the same 10 songs over and over I would never miss an opportunity to see her live and be in her presence for even just a few hours. There is nothing like the feeling of having Stevie sing for me, it's like a high. Sure I'd like to see her mix it up a bit but hearing that voice is so special to me, beyond words. She's not going to be around forever. Ok maybe money is an issue but I make sacrifices for the love of Stevie my God!!

How can I skip an entire tour? Easy. I don't want to waste my money. I've experienced her presence many times over and she sang the same songs, I'm not missing anything. Her twirls don't make me spray my shorts and instead of seeing her sing Rhiannon for the millionth time, I'll save my steak for if Lindsey ever does some solo shows.

And that's where we differ - I could never see Stevie performing live as a waste of money, no matter what her state of being is or what songs she sings. Sure she wasn't in top performance mode for several of my SYW shows but it was still an amazing feeling to be in her presence. It's a treat to me no matter what and I know that a lot of people share your sentiment, I'm just not one of them.

I agree and I would go if she came here. But, I probably will not fly across the country to see her on this leg because then it becomes do I want to spend probably $1,000 to hear her sing Rock and Roll - the song. That is a lot of money for one song good though it may be.

It's not about what she sings, it's about the whole experience: the venue, the city, the fans, the people you meet up with at the show... i've been to 10 shows this year alone and every single one has been a completely different experience... am i sick of seeing her do the "same songs" over and over again?? nope.. because i can have fun regardless... it's never, ever a waste of money....

It's hard to have the discussion without defining "die-hard".
There are a zillion reasons why a fan would skip this tour, including ticket prices, FM already came through a thousand times during SYW, barely changed setlist, doing covers instead of reaching into huge chest of Stevie songs, can't stand sheds (that's me), lack of money.
I could easily sit this one out. Maybe I'm not a die-hard and that's okay.
But I'm not sitting it out because Stevie is so damn beautiful and happy in the pics and I need to erase my image of her in those dreary SYW performances.
I'm definitely not going because of that Led Zeppelin song. All the wonderful upbeat songs in her portfolio and she steals from Heart's playbook.

First of all don't tell ME what I would be complaining about. Doing covers is one thing, but doing songs from her own collection is another thing. If she started doing storms at her solo concerts I would go for sure. Nobody was complaining on Enchanted tour. Plus, ive seen the enchanted, tisl, and henley/nicks show. Same Same Same, except props to enchanted tour. I don't know how many you have seen, but for me its been the same.

Too much of Stevie's bread and butter, her die-hards, are tired of her set list and still paying off expensive seats from recent tours, and they had to buy these seats from brokers.
Casual fans are either unaware of the tour, are turned off by the prices, or are unaware that she still puts out good (or any) new solo music. POTU was #1 on the dance charts, but nobody I know outside these boards would believe that. People who find out I'm a fan ask me if she's still with Fleetwood Mac and they are surprised to hear that she has had a solo album in the last ten years, let alone that it charted. Casual fans think her solo career is Edge, Stand Back, If Anyone Falls, and Leather And Lace, and that's it.
When Stevie's best solo songs of the last ten or fifteen years don't get airplay, when Entertainment Tonight profiles Katie Holmes the Scientologist rather than Stevie the singer, it's very doubtful that new folks are going to be inspired to risk money on tickets. Many of these casual fans would otherwise be brought in by the diehards, but like I said, many of the die-hards are sitting out.

I'm one of the die-hards who is still paying off my expensive seats that I had to buy from brokers for both Vegas and SYW but to me it's well worth it. You are very correct about why these shows will not do really well IMO. It's funny you are so right about causual fans. Most people I know not only have no clue she has put out a solo album in the last 10 years but a lot don't even know FM put out an album recently. She has way more of a draw with FM than solo. It's sad but true. I never thought about her shows not selling well until I read this thread but I'm not at all surprised. I guess I'm just disappointed that some of the die-hards are sitting this one out. I could never do that.

I noted when I went on ticketmaster to check out the Nissan Pavilion concert that it stated "Lawns seats weren't being sold at this show." I did remember that back on the TISL tour, everyone who had lawn tickets were allowed to go in section 300 of the pavilion. I think the pavilion itself holds about 10,000, still a nice showing for an aging rock and roll hippie queen. I do think she has oversaturated the market, and ticket prices and the competition this summer doesn't help.
I also noted on the NP website that they are offering a package deal this summer. 7 shows for $99 (lawn seats, of course.) Stevie is one of the 7 shows that features the Allman Brothers, James Taylor, John Mellencamp/John Fogerty, Ozzfest, Widespread Panic, and Motley Crue. about $14 and some change per show.. not bad at all. Stevie, the Allman Brothers, Mellencamp/Fogerty, and James Taylor is worth the price tag alone. Definitely "grass"' shows..

I agree wholeheartedly.
Lindsey's solo show was bar none the best concert experience in my life, and frankly has ruined the whole big stadium show thing for me. *Memories of having this conversation with Carne* I'd like to see Stevie do a show like that. But then I am a different sort of fan.
I've been listening to the boots and she sounds...pretty good. Certainly the covers are interesting. But to drop $300 for one night? No way. I have a life with a whole lot of things that need my money more than Stevie.
I did see SYW from the second row, so that was cool, but I probably wouldn't have seen it from any farther away. A stadium show has to be a pretty big deal these days to make it worth my inconvenience!

if you have the $$, then spend it - that's my philosophy... if you don't have it and need it for other things, then that's certainly understandable.. but it's the people (fans) that HAVE the money and refuse to spend it on somethign that they would really enjoy that kinda irritate me.. instead they just put it in the bank to save it... ummm, what are you saving for, people?? your funeral? makes no sense to me.. :distress:

First of all don't tell ME what I would be complaining about. Doing covers is one thing, but doing songs from her own collection is another thing. If she started doing storms at her solo concerts I would go for sure. Nobody was complaining on Enchanted tour. Plus, ive seen the enchanted, tisl, and henley/nicks show. Same Same Same, except props to enchanted tour. I don't know how many you have seen, but for me its been the same.
point to this: covers/own material different stuff.
The point is there will be some unhappy people who complain no matter what she chooses to sing. I referenced Storms because you had said in the past you didn't care for it. I would much rather hear "Rock n Roll" than some of her 88-94 stuff...it's all about preference. Every tour has been different, so actually no it's not the same same same every tour. Sure some things are the same...There were many songs on the Enchanted tour that were never performed before or again, as well as TISL...This tour she has broken out some things (IE : Beauty and the Beast) in which she has not done in quite awhile.
And yes many people did complain on the Enchanted tour, some said they wanted more HITS, some said they wanted her to change it night by night, and not do the same set every night.
These two set lists are not the SAME, I'm sorry if you think so.

For me, it's hard to believe Stevie has oversaturated anything. A quick glance through the rags at the grocery store tell you she's not even on the radar anymore. Cher gets more pictures in these things than Stevie (although Cher is touring her final show, supposedly). But I guess as far as her solo and FM fans are concerned, maybe she has flooded that market.

I'm not a fan of big shows, I've always preferred small and intimate ones. That's why I'm salivating at the thought of Lindsey doing a small solo tour; it's guaranteed to hit the tiny venues and he's sure to play lots of rarities that he doesn't get to play when he's with Fleetwood Mac. Those are the kind of shows that are special to me, not seeing Stevie sing the same old stuff once again for too much money. Two covers isn't worth the money to me. I could put gas in my car, buy groceries, pay bills, and lots of other things with that money. If she were to perform lots of rare songs or if it was her last tour, then yeah, I'd go. But otherwise, forget it. I don't find her to be otherworldly and her presence isn't that impressive for me to drop that kind of cash. The ones who really want to see her do the same thing can have the seat that I won't be buying and I hope they enjoy it.

She's oversaturated the concert market. Look at all the tours she's been on since 1997 and then look at the last Fleetwood Mac tour where they hit the same markets twice, sometimes three, times over. Then less than a year later, she hit the same markets again with Henley and is now hauling back out for a solo tour. The constant touring of the same markets and venues is not going to lead to big returns.

Looks to me like Stevie kind of feels like she's racing for time. If she waits a few years, so she's not oversaturating the markets, it's possible she feels as if the interest won't be there then, so she'd better do it now..

Well, they have been doing it for her entire career, though BD was not that long or large of a of a tour  I mean even SA was booked in larger venues like she is playing now. So, I think she can always be a bankable draw to some extent.
I think the current solo tour was her effort to save the promoters from any cash lost on Henley's inability to play the second half of the two voices tour, which sold well according to the sources cited here.
On a related note, I also give her credit for sticking it out and playing with a vengence. I also think that at 60, she will no longer do this and she realizes that.

Taking into account that she's getting up there in age and touring too much, I think her days of being booked on such a large scale at big venues are numbered. Pretty soon there will come a time when they simply won't want to continue booking her. That's just my opinion.

Oh yeah! It was his solo tour that he first opened with the scaled down Go Insane and Big Love! The place was slient, except for the initial roar when everyone collectively figured out what each song was.
Ya know, I'd like it if Stevie scaled down too, worked a bit wthin her means a bit more. Why do the parody that Rhiannon has become? Toss it and put in That's Alright with a nice full guitar/mandolin type back up thing. Hell bring out the Dixie Chicks! Re work it so she can sing it, whatever.
She might be able to do Wild Heart if she got rid of the gymnastics and did it more like the make-up demo thing. I could see Think About It, Sable on Blonde, and Gate and Garden working that way too.
Hell, I'd even give her a couple extra months to rehearse.

Anyone who has seen any of my posts will know my desperation and hopeless praying that one day Stevie will come to the UK. When FM came, they played the biggest place in town, our MEN arena. Most people know or know of FM and, like the Rolling Stones, people will go to see them because that band were big in their own teenage or younger years. Sad but true. Most people do not know that Stevie Nicks has much of a solo career and more so, most dont care. If she came here, she'd have to play the Apollo. Smaller, old theatre type place. Its wonderful, I have seen many many bands there, lots of them bands who could fill arenas back in their day. Its a great, initimate atmosphere. But it would never happen. Ignoring the fact that Stevie is never coming here, she's used to being one of the biggest rock stars on the planet in one of the world's biggest bands. She won't scale it down if she doesnt have too and thats a shame because it could be amazing.

Well, I'm not exactly hurting for money or gas, that's not what I meant. My point was that there are better and more important ways for me to spend my money than on a concert that I'm not jonesing to see, and I find it ridiculous that people are called out for being less of a fan just because they're sitting out on a tour. It's ludicrous.
I know - I was just envisioning the choice I noted above
I also agree about this tour. I mean if she comes here I will see her as I did when she was here with Henley, though that ticket was free for me THANK GOODNESS!!!!!!!!! I would consider going to another city to see her, but I would have to get a GREAT deal on a hotel room, airfare, etc. And even then, it would have to be somewhere I thought was cool and other Ledgies would be. I do think though that it would be cool to see Rock and Roll and this tour is fierce from what I saw - but it ain't worth a grand to me.

I've had about enough of the whole "true fan" BS...in all my arenas of fandom. That and the whole "I'm so-and-so's #1 fan!" makes me wanna vomit.
But I really am Stevie's #1 fan. Just kidding, of course.
It's everyone's personal decision whether to go or not. How much a "fan" you are vs. someone else is irrelevant to me. That being said though, the fewer people (true fans) that go will probably make her stop touring eventually, and that bums me out. I don't think I'm a bigger fan than anyone else. I just love to see Stevie live, and would be willing to go see her even if she never changed her setlist. I guess if I felt crappy about her setlist, I would still go, but go for cheaper seats. That way, I'd feel like I was supporting her without spending a fortune.

Okay - I have a funny story for you guys. I work for a DJ in Dallas, doing some production work from time to time on his morning show. A couple of years ago, we sold a bottle of "Celebrity Air" on e-bay. We took an air sample from the area around the microphone, created a special label and put it up for auction.
Stevie was one of the celebrities we listed as she had once spoken in that microphone. We had about 20 others. We did the whole thing for charity, raising money for poor kids to go to summer camp.
The bidding closed at $510.00. It was paid by a man who had a child who had attended camp a few years ago when he didn't have any money and he wanted to give something back to the community.
I thought you might get a kick out of the story!

I agree wholeheartedly.
Lindsey's solo show was bar none the best concert experience in my life, and frankly has ruined the whole big stadium show thing for me
Ok this is driving me nuts. My frist problem with this is putting Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckinhgam in the same catagory. One is a star, one is far from a star (not to take away from his talent). I can't even comment on this one because I'm not a Lindsey fan and putting them in the same catagory is crazy to me.
And oversaturation is a bad thing? For the die-hard fan like myself it's the best thing in the world. I became a die-hard when SYW came out so this constant touring has been a dream come true for me. I couldn't be happier about it and hope she never stops touring!!

Well, that is not really a fair comparison or statement. Many are moved by La Nicks' performances
Interestingly and also, LB may be able to do a smaller tour now because he did the whole huge stage thing for almost two years with FM, so he is not above it  Plus, I firmly believe if LB could sell a larger venue to the degree La Nicks could, he would. I mean it is not like he said - he FM wait a minute, let's play some 2,000 seaters and I will forfeit my probably close to 100,000 a show
So, I think LB plays the smaller places because that is where his solo market price point is.
Note - none of this is a detracting comment on anyone's talent.

2001 :
Stop Draggin/Enchanted/Dreams/Gold Dust Woman/Sorcerer/Every Day/ Rhiannon/ Stand Back/ Planets of the Universe/ Too Far From Texas/ Bombay Sapphires/ Fall From Grace/ Edge of 17/ I Need to Know/ HAEWAFY
2005 :
OTR/Dreams/Enchanted/Stop Draggin/Rhiannon/Sorcerer/GDW/ Stand Back/ I Need to Know/ HAEWAFY / Circle Dance/ Fall From Grace/ Edge of 17 / Rock N Roll/ Beauty and the Beast
NOT THE SAME SET LIST..
The overall show was very similiar. No new dances and I do not see this new "energy" for this tour. I think she danced a lot more in Boston for the DVD. Beauty and the Beast, IAF, and How Still My love, was great, but she played them for what 4 shows. So I can see why the tour isn't selling. If she played storms id be there because it would be another new song she pulled out.

Jimmy, you are a bit of an exception to this whole thing because you don't yet drive.. so you have to depend on other people to go to these shows.. no need to make excuses for not going... it's these so called "fans" who have the means to get there, yet don't... you know, the same ones who bitch and complain about everything, yet they are still big "fans"

Oh yeah! As I said earlier, I'd like it if Stevie scaled down too, worked a bit wthin her means a bit more.

I think Circle Dance and Rock and Roll were her way of doing that. I think she thinks, and somewhat correctly, that she must play her big hits (SDMHA, Rhiannon, Dreams, GDW, etc. ) or the majority of the crowd will be disappointed. I think we all would like to hear other stuff but the avg. person wants to hear what they know. I heard more than one person leave the ATL two voices show saying "where was Landslide - I cannot believe she did not sing that - I feel cheated - etc. " I heard similar things at the TISL shows I attended. I think LB has fewer hits, so it is easier for him to get away with playing more obscure stuff.

Well yeah, these songs were just ideas off the top of my head. I'm sure Stevie and the 4,000 members of her staff, consultants, musician friends, and back-up singers could really come up with some interesting things to do that would suit Stevie.
Lindsey? Forced to scale down? You mean the guy with the four backing guitarists on his solo show? They all stood a lot closer together, but other than that I'm not sure what you mean. I'm not looking for projections of spirals and things going in "cycles" at a Lindsey show.
But you're right. It's not about scaling up or down or the size of the venue. It's the musical choices made, or not.

yeah. By forced to scale down I basically meant size of venues. :) I didn't realize he used so many musicians. :) Makes sense, though, like I said before, Lindsey writes lots of layers, and other genius stuff, I would be suprised if he didn't want all his "parts" represented.

Maybe it's her way, and it's OK, but she's missing the mark. Yes, it's abundantly clear Stevie feels it's necessary to play 75% of the same songs. It's in her head. The average person can stay home. This who thing started about ticket sales and how any self-respecting fan could even *GASP* consider staying home. This is why I'm staying home.

two words ... TICKET PRICES The best seats for cleveland were $125.00 Im sure a lot more people would go if tix were affordable
Tickets for Cincinnati's Riverbend are $75, $59.75, and $23.25. So I'm thinking that the prices are dictated more by the venue than by the artist. I think those prices are fairly reasonable.

Hello everyone!! This is a very interesting thread. I agree about Stevie oversaturating the market at least in Cleveland. I know that the good seats were expensive but that wasnt the problem at the Blossom show. Most of the expensive seats sold but the $25 lawn and bleacher seats were practically empty. I think that $25 is sooo cheap to see a show so besides oversaturation I cannot think of any other reason why people would be skipping this tour.
The reason I went to this show even though I saw FM 3 times on the last tour (I have also seen Stevie 3 times solo) is hearing about Stevie's renewed energy and the fact that I got front row from somebody off ebay for a great price. She put on a hell of a show on Saturday and there is something about seeing Stevie solo that is very different from FM. Stevie is more reseved with FM so when she does solo shows she gets to break out of that and be a little more crazy. I love that. I also love the fact that you get to rush the stage when Edge starts and that you get the opportunity to shake her hand. I dont know any other artist that likes to get that close to their fans. I love Dave Matthews but you are lucky if Dave decides to talk at all between songs let alone have any interaction with the audience.

From a promoter's POV yeah. The casual fan fills about 60% of the seats. And that right there is the profit margin. Casual fans don't shell out 200 bucks every year.

I saw Lindsey do "Big Love" acoustic opening up for Tina Turner in the summer of 1992. Great show, but he's not really "shaking things up" doing it the exact same way 13 short years later. I wonder that if Lindsey toured as much as Stevie does if there would be this much complaining about having to suffer through "Go Your Own Way" again. My guess is that, yes, there would be.
As far as the ticket sales go, I'd say that crowds of 5,000 to 7,000 in most markets are probably what promoters are expecting from this tour. I agree ticket prices could be cheaper and ARE in many markets (Top ticket prices for the 19,000 capacity Target Center in Minneapolis are $63 dollars and go all the way down to $18). I really don't think this tour is selling badly at all especially cosidering the mammoth FM tour of the last 2 years. The same thing happened when Stevie embarked on Enchanted with it being so close to the end of The Dance tour.

Well I am just going to say it. It is on Stevie's and/OR her managment's part. I have heard Stevie mention many times how she needs to save for retirement because she wasn't like Lindsay, getting paid as a producer and also living below her means...
She SHOULD be playing places like The Orpheum in Boston like Tori Amos..... Its kind of a greed thing, and her ticket prices are ridiculous.

Somehow I have a hard time believing Stevie is in this for the money, especially at this point in her career. She seems to really be enjoying doing this tour and if she wanted to retire I'm sure she could have done it years ago. At least after The Dance, if not before. Plus, the money raked in for Landslide alone (Given all Fleetwood Mac, Smashing Pumpkins, and Dixie Chicks versions, which all got/get massive airplay) would be WAY more than any producers fee.
Hasn't it been established that although the artist may have some say in ticket prices that they are determined, in the end, by the promoters? This is how I understand it to be. Not just in Stevie's case, but in the case of any substantial touring artist. AND, again not all markets are $125 a ticket some are priced $65 - $75 for top tickets and go all the way down to $20 which sustantiates even more that someone other than Stevie is determining ticket prices.

It was amazing at the time, but yeah, the fact that he keeps on doing it is less than groundbreaking. And perhaps if he toured as much as Stevie his shows wouldn't be as interesting.
Still, changing it up that way is more inventive than anything Stevie's done perhaps since the Bella Donna shows. JMO, of course.
