Hmm...good to know there's gonna be a tour book; not as good to know who's behind it, but hopefully it'll be a good one! Thanks for the heads-up!

If John Kinney is, in fact, the guy taking all of the photography for it, i'm keeping the faith--he's generally pretty decent.

I talked to Chris after the Detroit Stevie/Don show and he said that every time he gets the tour book almost done, they give him more pictures to add.

He took that one of Stevie in the cowboy hat (Dallas 9.05.83), among others.
But why do these tourbooks keep arriving so late -- well into the tour or even after it? That's a ridiculous situation that has no good excuse, occurring as it does time after time.

So that fans who attended the first two shows of the tour can pay a colossal price for them later on eBay, of course.

That's what I was thinking also :0((( That was the first thing I looked for Friday night and even went out of my way to ask about them........ he had better get those things rolling--I mean the tour is just about half over right?? Unless she adds some more dates........ and there wasn't really a reason not to have them at the Don Henley shows since all of their merchandise was separate anyways......not even one Don and Stevie shirt either (for the Henley shows...)--now THAT I was disappointed about!! They needed to have a special shirt for the "2 voices" shows--come on people!!! That I would have bought in a hearbeat!! :distress:

That would require effort. I imagine he's just ripping the photos to fit the desired space and licking the backs to make 'em stick. He'll add the text later on with his super duper Photoshop '95 software.

You guys, I have a feeling from the tone of the email John sent me re: tour books that he might make them available on nicksfix to people who went to shows and did not get them. (edit: could not get them because they weren't available.) This does not include the Vegas shows. Those people only get "ugly" tshirts.

Actually before it became the official site, it was THE site to go to for news and photos and info. During that period the nicksfix actuallly became my homepage because of all the good info Mr. Kinney used to be allowed to provide. Then he became the official site and we all were psyched because he (like the penguin) had earned that right to be recognized as the official site. Sadly though, this stopped him from being able to post rumors and show spoilers and photos and... quickly the Nicksfix fell from being the best fansite to being a slightly better than most official site.
However, shortly after becoming the official site and before artist direct, the nicksfix had a store, and that store did sell tourbooks (rock a little, timespace, and enchanted, I believe this was prior to TISL) and tour merchandise. So now that Stevie doesn't do artist direct, maybe they can/will bring it back briefly.

I heard somewhere (I think Don Henley may have said it) that Stevie was doing so many shows.. but only so many dates have been released. I think we have like 25 more shows that we don't know the dates/venues for yet. So let's hope that we get some good cities and a decent tourbook. I was really bummed out because I thought for sure there would be one on Monday, but alas I was disappointed. I really do not want to pay a ton for one on e-bay. :distress:
i heard this also, don said stevie was planning on doing 45 dates, but who really knows  ~

Actually before it became the official site, it was THE site to go to for news and photos and info. There were always other good sites, too, as far as I'm concerned: I would rattle them off if I could remember their names or locations.
During that period the nicksfix actuallly became my homepage because of all the good info Mr. Kinney used to be allowed to provide.Like a good many other site owners, Kinney was able to post good stuff because other people supplied him. He didn't start concocting all that data on his own -- people sent it to him. This idea that people have that Kinney dug up all that data on his very own is just not what happened. A good fan site -- like that one, like this one -- relies on submissions by the community of fans. Hundreds of people contributing data is always going to be more comprehensive than one lone cowboy doing it all himself.

The original email he sent me is long gone, although the thread should still be around here somewhere... this is almost verbatim... if he is able to make tour books available thru the website, it would only be to the people who attended 2 Voices or Gold Dust shows where tour books were not yet available, afterall that is why they're called "tour" books and Vegas was not a tour. oh my.
So I think what happened is since nicksfix became official, John is no longer able to post any information unless it comes from the camp. And it seems the camp in some ways is not too organized when it comes to things like keeping the website updated and merchandising. Wonder if those are Chris's areas of responsibility.. LOL!!! :sorry: :D
I still love the nicksfix because you do get things like Q&As, random handwritten notes and journal entries and the occassional rarely seen hi-res photo.

Selling the tourbooks only to people who attended the Two Voices/Gold Dust concerts is just plain stupid, I'm not saying he didn't say it or suggest it - I'm just saying it's not very business savy. Why wouldn't they want to sell to anybody who would buy one? And like someone just said, how the hell would they know you didn't go?

Not as much as I worry it'll be yet another tour around her Phoenix house with wishings for a safe and happy new year from Stevie and Chris! Oh wait, that was Enchanted.
I'm sure there will be one--I just doubt we'll see it until mid July, IMO.

Actually from my experience in printing, he would be required to reserve printing presses and a bindery at the plant he's using. So if he could design it quickly and meet whatever deadline he set up, it shouldn't take more than a week after to get them trucked to the next city on the schedule. If he's missing deadlines over and over, it just costs him more money to print them.

It's all so amateurish. It doesn't take that long. I have a buddy who designs stuff like this on small scales and grand. He has gotten projects like special edition cd boxes on the scale of the Enchanted box and pulled them together in less than a week. Designed in three days -fed ex'd, approved, off to the printer, ready for the store in three weeks or less.
It's not like this tour is some big assed surprise. And it isn't as if the people involved don't have access to original artwork, record company publicity photos, privates archives, ad nauseam. The ultimate answer may be that it just isn't that lucrative to do it.....but I doubt even that, as they have been doing this for YEARS. They have longstanding relationships with printers. They could pull favors and get price breaks. And they could charge a fortune for garbage - they know that too. Look no further than the TISL tour book.
I submit it is laziness, lack of ambition, and stupidity.

I don't understand why the tour books can not be printed after the first rehearsal.....it doesn't make sense.
The entire book should have be planned out and ready to go even before the tour starts, once the "live" pictures are added it should have been ready to go.
It is easy to point fingers at Chris because merchandise IS his department. But I am not sure who to blame for this delay. Stevie HAS to be aware year after year that the tour books are not ready until the tour is half over. You would think she would say something to her brother. Or is she the one holding it up? When she wants something, she gets it. It seems La Nicks just doesn't care whether or not the books are ready.

My point is, there is no excuse for them not being done. It's possible to get things done quickly.
