Well, last night I saw this splendid documentary. And there wre a few things that puzzled me, maybe you guys can help.. :)
1. When talking about mixing with Chris Lord-Alge, they speak of "Tomorrow". Stevie says she's lost it, and Lindsey says they can call somebody to get it back. Is this a song of hers or what...?
2. What is Lindsey doing exactly when his pulling tape out of the machine...?
Well, that's it...for now!

The CC captioning for the hearing impaired indicates Stevie says she lost tommorow to mix "Monica." The song they are working on is Everybody Finds Out. Thus, many believe Monica was some sort of working title or nick name for Everybody Finds Out. Others cannot abide the idea that Monica has anything to do with Everybody finds out because they associate Monica with Monica Lewinsky and think that somehow detracts from the song.

I could be wrong, but I think when Stevie was referring to Tomorrow, she was talking about time in the mixing stuio that was lost to the band and that it would have to be made up somehow. does this make sense?

CC?? Does your dvd include cc? Or it was the broadcasted program?
by the way, The Dance is the only dvd or tape that included titles, or at least it's why I got :distress:

There was a big thread about this awhile back. She is definitely saying "Monica" and the song they are mixing is EFO. As to what that means, well that is where the arguments start. But, she def. says "Monica" and she is referring to the day that she lost to mix apparently EFO.

Strand's favorite topic!  Between this board and the BN board, I think this topic has been brought up at least ten times.

Yeah no kidding, it's like every chance he gets! It wasn't even necessary to answer the question. A simple, "when she says tomorrow she is referring to lost time not a song title." Would have sufficed. Interestingly I recommend that Strand watches the Dance on closed caption. Then see how much you trust closed captioning "Words are more the fool" indeed (check silver springs).

I watched the Dance in closed captioning.... once. And the whole time I was wondering if the people who do the CC are actually deaf themselves, because quite obviously they had no actual idea what was being said. It was just pathetic.

Nah - the argument actually starts with whether this so-called "Monica" is necessarily EFO just because the next scene they cut to is them working on EFO.
Because as anyone who has ever seen TV, video, or movie can tell you... one scene does not have to necessarily have anything to do with the next!

He is - that's actually how we used to edit tape back in the old days. That's how I did it back when I started out in radio.

2. What is Lindsey doing exactly when his pulling tape out of the machine?Lindsey plays with magnetic tape.
The drum track is a tape loop, about a 20-foot section of tape. The drum track originally was part of another song which was a lot slower. We sped the drum track up in a VSO, cut it at a certain point, and edited it into itself so we had this giant loop. Then, what we had to do was run it from one reel through the heads. But somebody had to go out across the room with something that would act like a spool to keep the loop moving steadily while we recorded it onto another machine. That was one track of "Tusk."
That's Lindsey talking to Blair Jackson (BAM magazine 1-30-81) about playing with the tape for "Tusk"

yeah, at least the people who captioned the "DVD release" of the Mirage concert had the excuse of english not being their first language. By the way, anyone who owns that DVD MUST watch it with the captions on. It is one of the funniest Fleetwood Mac experiences ever. The word Rhiannon is never sung in the song Rhiannon, according to the captioning it is "We Addled" They maybe get one line right for every five or six wrong and when they get it wrong, they really, really get it wrong.

When Lindsey yells "Christine McVie!", it's subtitled as "This is the key!" and when Chris yells "Lindsey Buckingham!", I believe it's subtitled as "Thank you for coming!"
Btw, I also heard "Monica" and believe it is EFO.

Cool, thanks guys..
I know he's editing it...duh! :) It's just that he mumbles something about a guitar before he does it. So, maybe somebody had caught that better than me..
I saw R.E.M. last night...man that was cool. Not as cool as that November night in 2003 when I saw the Mac in Germany. But still cool..

i tried searching for the thread but couldnt find it...did anyone consider the obvious that they lost the day to Monica? you know, the singer Monica...as in chris lord-alge was booked to mix something for her that day since "lindsey's people f***ed up"?
