Does anyone else watch this show? I thought it sounded so stupid at first but then when I watched it, it was very entertaining! I can't believe these parents allow their children to slap them, throw water in their face, kick them, throw them down the stairs, etc. If I was a parent and my child did that I would not allow them to lay a hand on me!

The sh*t I see parents letting their kids get away with lately makes me sick. Ridiculous. People don't know how to say NO anymore.

For example (and to vent) why does my next-door neighbor let her 10 & 7 year old boys ride their bikes in the street? Why does she allow her morbidly obese child to eat 2 or 3 pieces of pizza in one sitting? Why are they still outside playing at 10:30pm on a school night? Why did she not reprimand her 10 year old when he came home the other day & said "Joe's dad told me to go home because I touched his rake, isn't that pathetic?"

OK, I'm done.

The stuff kids get away with today is just amazing. If I had tried half of that crap, I would have been spanked and rightfully so because I would have disobeyed my parents. All of this new age "you kid has a voice" crap is mostly for the birds. YOU ARE THE FU*&ING PARENT - HELLLOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

i agree w/ you & i am a mother of a soon to b 6 yr old~ last week a 5 yr old was run over & killed by a school bus~ tho everytime i watch the news about this it makes me cry, but it makes me wonder how his folks could let him ride his bike in the street also, granted he was w/ his 11 yr old older brother, but the parents were letting them ride to a park that was like 4 blks from their home & the had to cross busy streets~ the poor little boy didn't stop at the intersection & just passed right thru in2 the path of the school bus, he died instantly thank god for that he didn't suffer, but the streets were filled w/ adults & children who saw this all happen~ it is the saddess thing & i'm sure his folks thought nothing of letting him go to the park, summer is in full force here the pools are open & kids are out & about~ some people say i am way over-protective & i know even sometimes accidents happen, but i give 100% care in my son, he is my resposibilty & i can thankfully say we have never had to leave somwhere becuz of his acting up, he knows how to act in public, church, out to eat &...~ i just get livid when i see kids run a muck~ i promise i am not 1 of those mothers people shake their heads at~ i just cringe even just out to buy groceries the way kids run their parents & the parents are just wandering around as obliviously as can b~ there i vented too  ~

I love Nanny 911, too. If you notice though, it's usually the parents that are completely f*cked up. I watched an episode a couple of weeks ago where the mother allowed her (very) young kids open access to a candy filled pantry. These boys were sitting on the living room floor dripping in chocolate and sugar, and she wondered why they were so wound up.

since there are rumors that the children throw the tantrums for the camera on purpose (ie-"Acting"), Why else have the kids on a show unless they're behaving badly?

In the real world, not to be confused with the "Reality world" (Which is just an entertainment device for "TV programmers" ) most children I see do not act even remotely like the spolied lil' booger-brats on these shows.

Trust me, I have 2 nieces and 5 nephews and none of the seven act like those "Reality TV actors/actresses", Cause if they did they would get their asses whooped...And everyone NEEDS an ass

We tell my eleven year old step son that we want him to act all crazy so we can get on that show. Don't they give the family some awesome prize at the end? Like, a new house or a trip or something?

Hey, let me tell ya, my neighbor's kids come DAMN close to those kids on Nanny911. My husband and I vent every single day about it. Then we look at our daughter and say to each other "we have such a good kid." Their daughter has, at different times, choked my daughter and jumped up and down on her back when she was laying on the floor. And all her mother did was give her a 2 minute time out and told her to apologize. Didn't even yell at her. I could go on and on and on......

I sort of agree with you here....I don't have any kids, and never will, so I can only relate with my own experiences as a child. I do think that a father sending his son's friend home for 'touching his rake' is a bit ridiculous.....it's just a rake. Unless it's made of gold.... Also, I rode my bike in the street all the time - but I did not live in Buffalo - I lived in a very small Michigan town. Now, here in Denver, I'd be scared to see kids on their bikes in the street, but there really isn't anywhere else for kids to ride their bikes.... It's a catch 22, and city kids are very different than country kids, as they are exposed to all sorts of things that small town kids never see.

Kids are out of control all over the nation. I got my ass whooped if I talked back and didn't do what I was told. I got my ass whooped for getting bad grades. My boss and her husband BLAME THE TEACHER when their kids get bad grades. That's f-cked up! My parents were united when it came to discipline, but many parents today are not. Children are spoiled, they have too many things, and they're rarely told no. Thye're growing up to be adults who don't want to work. They take drugs for ADD when what they really need is a good ass whooping and some time standing in the corner, with another ass whooping if they move, and some chores around the house. I cut wood, stacked wood, raked leaves, washed dishes, cooked for my siblings, weeded the garden, walked or rode my bike when I needed to go somewhere - and that was that. My bosses kids call her when they get up late because they need a ride to school. They spend their bus money on candy, so they call her for a ride home. They eat like PIGS, and it shows.

I guess I needed to vent too, but I don't know where I'm going with this so I'll stop. I guess I'm just disgusted with Generation Whine-To-Get-What-I-Want, and the parents who are to blame for an entire generation of children who will grow up to be adults with no work ethic, manners, or sense of personal responsibility.

A lot of kids really are that bad!

I babysat my cousin a few weeks ago and he kept trying to escape from the house. He jumped all over the furniture and tried to hit me. This was his idea of "fun". By the end of the night there was a stray cat in the living room and I was handcuffed to a barstool.

Preach it, Brother! And, I'm likely to think - that that father probably asked the kid, perhaps several times, not to touch that rake. ;)

My whole thing with the rake was:

1) The rake had nothing to do with it. The fact is that the 10 year old kept messing with an adult's things & was asked repeatedly to stop, then was asked to go home when he would not listen to the adult. I personally would have told the kid that he should not touch other people's things without permission & make him apologize. Mom said "well, why don't you go back & ask if you can have another chance." No mention of respecting other people's things.
2) This 10 year old is calling an adult pathetic and that's OK with his mom? Ummmm...

We live in a suburb of Buffalo, our street is a cut-through between 2 main roads. There are tons of teens racing through our neighborhood, as well as a large elderly population who can barely back out of their driveways, let alone drive. I don't think kids should be near the street until they're at least 12. These two started at around 6 or 7. They don't look both ways, they have no respect for cars. They have almost been hit several times. If I had kids, I would value their lives too much to take a chance & assume that the drivers on the road are paying attention/can see over the wheel/aren't drunk/etc. It is the parent's job to keep their own kids safe, not everyone else's. (Not that I'm condoning mowing down a group of kids in your SUV or anything.)

There are 2 kids who live across the street (not the 2 I mentioned before) who are constantly crossing the street themselves. They're 4 and 7. The 4 year old will cross herself. They come over to our cul de sac and ride around, play on everyone else's swingsets, trampolines, kiddie pools, slip and slides, etc, and the mom NEVER comes out. I don't even know her name. The kids are rude and don't listen to the adults who ARE out watching their kids. The boy, 7, is constantly touching my daughter, trying to get her to rough house, and she's just not like that. One day coming up my other neighbor and I are going to walk over to have a little chat with the mom. Not that it will help. We had our kiddie pool filled last week and they came over, and we told them their mom had to be there if they were going to swim. They went and apparently talked to their mom and then came back. I walked out front and she's sitting on her front steps, where she can't even see my backyard. My daughter is 6, and if she's outside, I'm outside. Period.

You are absolutely right. Sounds like he needs to learn some respect for his elders.
