From New Mexico...the land of Entrapment...the actual motto is "Land of Enchantment." Perhaps in Northern New Mexico (Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Taos) one may find Enchantment - but not in the waste land in which I spent the last half of my wasted vacation.
Las Cruces, NM is the land that time forgot - or is at least neglecting horribly.
Seriously. That place is such a pit. I fet depressed almost immediately upon returning there - and then made the mistake of hanging out with my ex-boyfriend my first day there. We have remained friends - but I don't think that will last much longer as he seems to have regressed - he was immature when I was dating him, but now!?! My God. I had more intelligent conversations with my nephew (who's 6 and reading at a 4th grade level :D)
Anyway - More on vacation to come- not all of it sucked and I've got some pictures - I'm thinking of starting a little on-line journal though so I don't have to type the same things 23094398 times :D
I've missed the Ledge and feel so terribly behind :p
Glad to be back  OH! Except that it's all gross and humid here....yuck.

WB Deanna. Sorry you didn't have the best time. I think when people visit home they're just supposed to stay in their house and have their parents feed them, then randomly drive around the town and go "GOD, this place is boring!"

And that would pretty much be what I did...well except for the eating part.
My mom stopped cooking in like 1982. So yeah - I ate out every day - every meal and I now feel like CRAP!!! I tried to get healthy selections when I ate out - but I"m not completely burnt out on food - I'm about to go get my dog shaved then get some actual groceries...mmmmm...food prepared by ME!!!

Oh, suck. My parents still have lots of snacks in their house, though, even when my mom isn't making meals. I hope you enjoyed your scenery, my town is really pretty, so at least there is that...I hope at least you didn't have to pay for your own food...

Glad to see you're back, Deanna. Sorry that your vacation wasn't the greatest, and I understand how hometowns and revisiting one's past in general can be depressing.
If you do decide to get an online journal, go with xanga or livejournal; a bunch of Ledgies have those! :)
I'm looking forward to hearing more about your trip. :xoxo:

Hey! Welcome back, Deanna! Missed you - and we need a little doggy update. Sorry your "vacation" wasn't all that. A quick trip to Detroit this Saturday night would probably do wonders..

And it seems as though there is a greater Mexican influence in Las Cruces than there ever was before - but perhaps I just didn't notice it as much while I was living there.
Anyway my mom took me to this really crazy indoor Flea Market where I found a print that had me rolling on the floor it was so ridiculous....and here it is:

I want to make fun, but I'm afraid I may go to hell for it. I feel so conflicted.

Eh - feel free to make fun  It's SO ridiculous...one of the cheesiest prints I've ever seen...I pointed and laughed my ass off right there in the Flea Market whilst many a passeryby looked at me with disgust....still - I found it to be a damn funny picture
