The votes only count in the event of a tie, otherwise those votes = wasted oportunity to remove one of the most outdated pieces of synthpop found on the greatest hits record. Please help end the tyranny of Little Lies and notice that many years after the fact some people are still plagiarizing with regards to Sara

Sara, it's so good, other people try to claim they wrote it. Has anyone tried to claim they wrote Little Lies? I don't think so. In fact numerous artists in '87 came out to vehemently deny that they wrote Little Lies:

Human League: I would have nothing to do with that synth driven, lyrically challenged piece of....

Boy George: What's the question? Lies? Me? Cocaine please.

PAULEY SHORE: I Wrote Little Lies.

I don't get all the "Little Lies" hate. I think it's pop perfection and one of FM's most recognizable songs. When people tell me they don't know the Mac, I sing the chorus for them, and they immediately know it. I still hear it on the radio.

"Sara" is not a strong single IMO on an album of hit singles. The fact that it hit the top ten is a testament to FM/Stevie's star power of the time, not the song itself. No catchy chorus, no hook, and lyrics that sound more like prose than verse. "Dreams" and "Gypsy" are much better Stevie singles.

I disagree with choosing certain songs to protect another song. If a large group of people dislikes a song, don't freak out and try to build a counter-group to delegitimize their opinion. Just choose the song you like the least.

I don't think anyone here is doing this. By choosing the song you want to win right from the start, every other song becomes the one you like the least.....they just get eliminated in an order determined by the other players in the game. :xoxo: Besides, it's fairly obvious, as dissention predicted in round 2, that Rhiannon or Gypsy will win. Probably Gypsy. I may have missed them, but I don't think Gypsy has received any votes at all since the start of the game.

Yeah, it is just meant to be a game so some choose to play it strategically and be a bit more competitive about it while others are just laid back. Hopefully it doesn't ruin anyone else's enjoyment of the game.

I actually started posting during the infamous Tusk survivor and it was to help save Sara. My very first post was responded to by Carne with the statement that he was quitting the game and that I was someone else who had created an account just to vote to save sara (very funny given what ended up happening). Sorry if my posts offend anyone on some deep level, but it is just meant to be fun and on the Greatest Hits package every song voted off is going to be someone's favorite. This isn't Behind the Mask where likely we would have a difficult time finding a winner.

I mean there are elements over here that choose LL over GYOW. With the my most intense empathetic perspective I cannot follow that. And don't say it is about taste, and that we all have our right to our own opinion. If LL is better then GYOW, then Johnny Stew is better then CarneVaca. :p ;)

Little Lies is a great song. In fact it might be my favorite song from '87 (although with or without you came out that year too). It is recognizable and has great harmonies. It just isn't a Fleetwood Mac song. Most of Tango really was lacking the Fleetwood Mac sound. This became evident to me when playing GH for a friend on a long car trip while trying to initiate him to FM.

He was really enjoying the songs, loved LB's guitar work primarily and when we came to stuff like Everywhere and Little Lies my friend recognized the songs but said, "Wow, this is a good song but it really doesn't fit in with their sound. They have a really great rhythm section, rely a bit too much on percussion and experiment quite a bit but this stuff just doesn't seem to match up to the rest of their songs"

Little Lies would fit better on Christine's solo album and would have been a real treat on there.

The Second Time would have been such a nice song if Lindsey had worked on it. JMO.

There's a vulnerability in her voice that I like on The Second Time, but the song itself is...ugh.

If we did a BTM Survivor and Behind the Mask or In the Back of My Mind didn't win, I'd have a coronary.

Why is everyone voting against the beauty that is Sara?

I vote for the stuck-in-the-70s riffs of You Make Lovin' Fun.
Because you can't dance to "Sara"

I thought it was inevitable that Sara would go this round, so I jumped on the bandwagon. I feel really dirty for doing too. Nevah again shall I betray Stevie.

For the record, I like Sara WAY more than You Make Loving Fun.

She "drownded".

I guess Don finished his home, called her, and she went, cuz this hoochie is outta here. Sara is gone with 20 votes.

YMLF: 4 votes
Rhiannon and GYOW had 3 votes a piece.

Here are the remaining contestants for Round 9:

1. Rhiannon
2. GYOW
3. Gypsy
4. You Make Loving Fun

YMLF is not my favorite Christine song, by a long shot, but she deserves to have a song in the final three. One each from Lindsey, Chris, and Stevie. Wouldn't that be harmonious? :woohoo:

I vote "Rhiannon."

Because you can't dance to "Sara" :shrug:Sure you can! Haven't you ever heard of a slow dance?
Wrap your arms around your baby, and sway to the sensual sounds of Stevie's "Sara."

Now "You Make Loving Fun" really isn't one you can dance to... just bop your head.

Anyway, my vote:
You can "Go Your Own Way"... please and thank you. :wavey:

But I got over it four minutes later, if that matters.

you hypocrite! we were all in the shoot-the-pussies-lobby. I still suffer from rushes of blood to the head when I think about that game. This game I will vote for only one song. As I did in the Tango-game. So you'll all know which song is gonna win this. The ugliest drone ever.

I mean there are elements over here that choose LL over GYOW. With the my most intense empathetic perspective I cannot follow that. And don't say it is about taste, and that we all have our right to our own opinion. If LL is better then GYOW, then Johnny Stew is better then CarneVaca. :p ;)

Elements? Sounds like you have a chip on your shoulder. I think that if someone chose Little Lies over GYOW, then they must really like the song... maybe even one of their favorite songs?? Just a friendly reminder, that we are talking about *SONGS* here...not diplomatic strategies. ;) And YES, we are all entitled to our own opinions. That's what makes the world go round. :D

I don't think that any one Ledgies' opinions, or their character/person, is any better than another.

My Vote.... Go Your Own Way

You guys missed Tusk Survivor. This game is daisies compared to that beast. It was all out war.

That's what made it fun. I love it when folks get passionate about something, makes things interesting. There's nothing wrong with strategy, unless it's your song being strategized against! It's just important not to lose perspective with these things and get to the point where you froth at the mouth when people vote against your songs and become desperate. Otherwise it was a blast.

Hmm, would anyone be receptive to a Lindsey survivor, or is the market Survivor-satured, so to speak? Poor sugar has never had one.

But I got over it four minutes later, if that matters.

I used these emoticons: :p ;) So the comparison was a naughty joke, but a joke.

You know that I definately don't hate you at ALL, even if I do not like LL at all. What I do know is that you can offend me for a few minutes with your posts and it is fun to try to do that back every once in a while, especially in these games. That's what games are for and truly, that's what was the fun of the Tusk-game in which we crossed swords alot! . I'm glad you admit that I succeeded even though you did get over it an instant later. I was teasing like you can do that too. I just did it my way. And you denied it at first. That's part of my fun.

But don't ask me to vote off gyow. That is the greatest hit they ever had.
