This is just a fun little take on favorites. I know everyone likes to list their favorite songs, but I have a new one. I personally enjoy seeing concerts outdoors much more than inside. I've had a chance to see Fleetwood Mac and Stevie quite a few times outside, and here's a quick rundown of my favorite places. I know some of these places might have changed names by now, but I'll go with what they were called when I was there.

1. Deer Creek Music Center, Indianapolis. Absolutely the best place I've been to, bar none.

2.Ford Pavillion at Montage Mountain, Scranton. Had a chance to see Fleetwood Mac there last year, what a beautiful place nestled in the middle of a ski resort.

3.Pine Knob Music Center, Detroit. This place was very easy to get in and out of, which is more than I can say about alot of Amphitheaters. Also, I saw the final show of the SYW tour there last year, so it's very sentimental to me in that way.

4.Blossom Music Center, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. A real BITCH to find, but once you get there, wow, beautiful covering for the seated areas.

5.Marcus Amphitheater, Milwaukee. This place isnt as rural as most outdoor venues, but it's right on Lake Michigan on the Maier festival grounds, where they have Summerfest every year.

So there's my top five, I realize there's alot of places I havent been to, so I welcome any comments. Take good Care, David

I loved Chastain Park in Atlanta, GA. It was in the middle of the woods in an incredibly beautiful area. If you're up high enough in the seating, you can see a gorgeous view of downtown Atlanta. Really a special venue

I'm not sure if you're asking for our favorite venues where we've seen Stevie/FM or in general?

I can't stand concerts in arenas or sheds, but will put up with them to see Stevie/FM and other favorites.

But my favorite venues are

The Fillmore, San Francisco
House of Blues, West Hollywood
Great American Music Hall, San Francisco

Well, I like Blossom because it's in a very wooded area, and the covering for the seated areas is made of wood, which is unique, and which I believe rovides great sound

These are the best I could find. No waterfalls. Just a beautiful place for a concert.

I for one am a Warfield (San Francisco, CA) fanatic. A lot of Bay Area people don't care for it, but I've had many a great concert experience there and I love the feel of the place. Well, once inside. Standing in line outside is um, er...entertaining. I've never seen Stevie there, but plenty of other great shows.
I attended the Fillmore for the first time end of 2004, and liked it too, but the staff were a bunch of jerks. Venue wise, great, staff wise, I'll pass.
I do like Concord Pavillion. It's on the cusp of being big time corporate venue, but still maintains an intimate feeling. Seating, and view are fantastic, and the openess of it provides the perfect backdrop for a concert. Have seen Stevie and Fleetwood Mac many times there.

Other than those 2 places, I can't say I have a fovorite place. I've seen so many shows in so many places. Maybe I'll have Red Rocks to add to the list if something pans out.

Ooh, I forgot The Warfield! I've only seen one concert there (Dave Gahan), but I'll go again as soon as an artist I'm willing to pay for is playing there...

I love Chastain Park Amp, altho the crowds are usually too uptight for my tastes...

Gwinnett Arena in Duluth, GA is also really nice--awesome sound..

I love sheds and my favorite of the ones I've been to is Great Woods in MA. I'm actually hitting the san diego show in addition to the universal city show simply because coors seems to be the nearest shed that Stevie's playing.

You canNOT beat The Gorge in George, Washington... even though it's in the middle of nowhere... three hours from any major city. :)

BLOSSOM MUSIC CENTER--It is set in a National Recreation Area--in a valley covered with trees. The pavillion itself is made out of wood. The setting is very different from many "sheds" in the midwest that seem to be thrown up in a corn field. There is a waterfall in Cuyahoga Falls, though it is downtown and not really close to Blossom itself. This is the first place I ever saw a concert(RAL 1986 no less), and I have had many great expereinces here.

The Gorge looks really beautiful!!

I'm not a big fan of outdoor shows, but some of my favorite venues, in or outdoors are (in no particular order):

The Backyard, Austin - beautiful setting, and a capacity of only 5,000. Great place to see Bowie! Or anyone, really! And they have a full bar - I'm not a beer drinker - and I despise wine coolers. Girl's gotta have her vodka! :p

The Woodlands in Houston - another beautiful setting - stuck back in a hoity-toity neighborhood, deep in the woods. Street names in the area like Gold Dust Drive, etc.

The DTE Theatre in Detroit - I also saw FM's final SYW show there. Brownie points here also for the full bar! I liked that there are little random gardens everywhere, not so much concrete.

The Colosseum in Vegas and the Aladdin Vegas - fond memories of Stevie shows at both venues - small, intimate, comfy seats - arenas built for music, not basketball.

Here's a pic of the Woodlands Pavilion:

Being a native Californian, I have seen many Mac/Stevie shows but the 2nd time I saw them, on Aug. 31st, 1980, rates as my all time favorite. The Hollywood Bowl, set in a canyon in the middle of L.A. was something really special. It was the Tusk Tour, and it was a spectacular setting and concert!
I moved to Northern California 10 years ago and although I have seen Stevie at The Shoreline Amphitheater 5 times, I still like the Concord Pavilion better. It has a beautiful setting in the foothills of Mt Diablo and at 12,500 capacity has a much more intimate feel. It is a bit far away-28 miles from San Francisco, but still a bit closer than Shoreline and accessible by public transit, which Shoreline is not. The only time I loved Shoreline better was for the two warm clear October nights when Fleetwood Mac played there in October of 1997. I dont think any longtime Mac fan was ever expecting to see that lineup again, so it was really special.

I'm a HUGE fan of DTE in Detroit - mostly because the stage was low enough that I could lean on it! I didn't really get an idea of the rest of the place. :p

On the other hand... I HATED Montage Mountain in Scranton for the exact opposite reason: the stage was SO bloody high. I was front row there, too, and my neck was ready to break. The stage is about eight feet off the ground.

But as someone esle mentioned, I'd always choose an indoor venue over outdoor. Best place for a show, hands down, is Le Spectrum in Montreal. Or Club Soda. Both are small and intimate (and licensed!) - not a bad seat to be had.

As for arenas, they're all sort of the same to me.

I don't like outdoor venues because I am a COMPLETE SNOB when it comes to sound quality. Therefore, my favorite venue is The Rose Garden Arena in Portland OR. It has the added advantage of NOT being a mega-arena seating only 20,000. An outdoor venue would get my vote based on sentimentality only... so I'd go with the LA Coliseum. Lots of very good memories from that place. And it's huge seating 92,000... nothing but a big party there. Can't wait to see U2 at the Rose GArden in Dec. it outta be PHENOM!! :blob1:

So before I play in the waiting game for coors, can anyone tell me about the venue? High stage? Looks bad on either side? Anything would be helpful!

I've only been to four, but -
Shoreline can be okay, but I don't really like it. It's like, there is something charming about it, but really it's cold a lot, and the sound is meh.
Greek - love it, very charming, intimate.
Oakland Arena - very convenient - also, you can sneak in. I thought the sound there was great when I saw Mac.
Concord Pavilion - My favorite. I like to be outdoors, and it's nice and warm there. Sound is pretty good. There's a nice, lazy, free feeling there.
