So what's the coolest thing you think she's ever done?
For me it was the band reunited to play a concert for Bill Clinton when he was leaving the White House.
Just think a US Senator and first lady wants you to play for the most powerful man on earth and Chris says "Nah"
Cool or what?

She's, uhhh, okay, I guess. I think she always should have tried to do more twirling, etc. I think FM would've been much more popular had she done that. STEREO twirling would've been HUGE! And, she could've mimicked (sp) some other kind of farm animal, thus creating more of a barnyard effect. That could've replaced the opening tribe music of Tusk. Bah, moo, bah, moo..... see what I'm saying?
She's only the coolest (and I mean that in the truest sense of the word) woman who ever breathed. :xoxo: :xoxo: :xoxo: :D

It's a good thing I wasn't in the band, or I would have demanded that he be fired. Why not? I understand that they were under a lot of stress and that he was especially drunk that night, but hey, they didn't let Danny Kirwan get away with that excuse. Lindsey was being, putting it bluntly, a spoiled brat. Hell, they gave him all kinds of freedom on "Tusk," and then he pulls this crap. Which would have ROCKED!!! I love Lindsey, don't get me wrong. But Fleetwood Mac with Eric Clapton...all I can say is :] :] :] And, it would have worked, as there were really only about four or five hit songs that were in his set around that time. So, they could have done those as well as some of the Mac's blues material. BTW, I'm not so sure EC would have said no, as this choice quote from Lindsey himself over on Madness Fades suggests:
"When Eric Clapton hangs out with Mick or us he’s always saying, “God, I wish I was in a band again.” That’s because the burden is all on him. It’s just not the same when, as a leader, you’re paying people a certain amount each week to play with you. The balance of power is not the same, and it drains you. Bob Welch had a couple of successful solo albums, but now I think he misses being in a group where people will give you honest feedback, tell you when you’ve got your head up your ass. You need that thing when other people in the band have as much at stake as you do. We could certainly all do solo albums, but that wouldn’t be the death of Fleetwood Mac. There are still good creative ties and I think we all still enjoy - and need - the feedback we get from the group situation. I can’t imagine not feeling that way anytime soon.
BAM, January 1981"

Dreams, GDW, Landslide. Good songs that I'm just TIRED of hearing. Go away.
If they ever tour again, they need to do SOMETHING NEW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Quit shamelessly promoting a 30 year old album!
But, back to my list, these are songs that David and I (and Chili?) are going to be playing, so it's not like Christine will be singing them. They're my favorite "songs", not performances. :xoxo:

Also, keep in mind that his career wasn't so hot in 1980. He had a few hit singles, but overall, he was releasing some so-so albums at best during this time. I could easily see him being open to working with a band, for a lot of the same reasons Lindsey mentioned.

Let's also not forget that Eric ended up in critical condition with bleeding ulcers the size of grapefruits (due to excessive alcohol abuse) around the end of 1980/early 1981 cancelling his own Another Ticket tour. We almost lost him then. That's when he FINALLY cleaned up his act.

Very true. And hanging out with the McVies in those days certainly wouldn't have helped. Still, I think he might have considered joining the band. Because, from what I remember, it was getting together with Phil Collins in the mid '80s that really helped him get back to being a commercially successful artist. That's why I think he would have said yes in 1980, but not in 1987.

Nope, it was 1985 (smack dab in the middle of the 80's)...for Eric's Behind The Sun album. The album that got Eric & Nathan East together (only for a couple of songs, though)...even though Nathan wouldn't tour with Eric until 1987. Actually, Phil & Eric got together at Live Aid. Phil seemed to have played with EVERYBODY that day...the Bee Gees & his own set in London, then a Concorde trip to Philly to play with Eric & the reunited Led Zeppelin.
In 1983, Eric had Roger Hawkins (from the Muscle Shoals Swampers) on drums for his Money & Cigarettes album & tour...well, 1/2 the tour, then Roger quit and Eric got his previous drummer Jamie Oldaker back to finish the tour.

Yeah, you're partially right...I double-checked my info last night. Behind The Sun was released in '85. WB rejected the first "all-Phil" produced submission. They had Eric go into the studio to record a few "more commercial" tunes with LA session guys (and Ted Templeman producing)...Nathan East & Steve Lukather being among them. Those were also the sessions that found Lindsey playing on "Something's Happening". His "hit single" (chalk one up for the record company) "Forever Man" also came from those LA sessions. A couple of really good tunes got sh*t-canned, though. ("Too Bad" & "Heaven Is One Step Away")
Phil co-produced (with Eric & Tom Dowd) ALL of Eric's next album, August, as well as played drums throughout.

But that's precisely why I really like Chris: she hates the fans. Because I hate the fans, too! When she says she is tired of "touring," that's her euphemism for "goddamn fans crowding around me & demanding my autograph & touching my garments."
I hate the fans, too(and I know you mean her FM fans). When I play out, although I love playing live, when we're on break, I quickly make my way thru the crowd, saying a couple obligatory "hi's"(because people expect that), then I hide in a corner somewhere. I couldn't care less about hearing some yahoo babbling on and on, or even buying me drinks. I find staring at the wall infinitely more interesting.

Yes, all fine. to be frank, it doesn't matter which tunes for playing. They can all be fun if you mix with the mojo & zap your Zen. Where are your songs on the Web, dave?
We're still not web friendly. We play nearly every weekend within 30 minutes of home, so I've not really needed it as a marketing tool. Plus, I'm pretty lazy when it comes to stuff like that.
I've long wondered about your band, though. More than anything, I wanna see some pics! I'm mean, you're a FM tribute band. I wanna see how close everyone gets, lookswise.
Link?

She didn't treat ME that way. Actually, I think you're assessment of her is wrong.Well, maybe she's vacillated a bunch over all those years. Back in the '80s, she sure seemed fan-phobic to me. I thought it was absolutely charming!
I think Christine's current Q&A debacle pretty much sums up her view of her fans. Who can blame her? Who would care about a bunch of strangers when you have a renovated manor in Kent?
Stevie used to ignore the gushy teens & adult fans & just hang with young kids, mostly girls, putting beads on them. She did that at the Hollywood Bowl. she wasn't talking to anyone over the age of 5.
I love it when the stars get so frazzled that they lash out at all these fans. One of my favorite stories is of Laurence Olivier & Vivien Leigh, newly married & matinee idols around 1940, being hounded by autograph seekers outside the theater, & spoiled Leigh yelling, "Fack off! Now just fack off!"

Link?My band doesn't go for any look, dave. Except for the Stevie -- she likes to dress up. The rest of us would be mortified doing so, although I'd consider dressing up as Ivan the Terrible or something. Sara put up some songs & pics from our trip to the Cannery in Vegas last year at www.sararhiannon.com/mirage/. We're going to be in Palm Springs in a couple of weeks & I hope to get more photos & sounds then, & some video if the venue will allow it. Then our only other job on the books is in Vegas, at the Stratosphere I think, coming up in August. We're pretty widely known as the least-working tribbie band in the country!
Any time you make it out to CA, we'll hang & jam!

If I gave a **** about the Q&A I would be a little pissed. If you don't want to do a Q&A then say so. No biggie. But to announce it then not do it.
That's pretty lame... no?
regardless of how comfy your life is..
I'll never listen to Christine again......
ok no

Boy, you've sure got that top keyboard mighty HIGH! Is that to hide behind? ;)
I like how it's mentioned that Bob wasn't inducted before you play Hypnotized!

You had me worried for a minute! I, too, think her just bailing on the Q&A is kinda lame. But, it's her choice to snub us!
Hey, I've just been snubbed by Christine McVie!

Yeah, I'm a bit disappointed about that Q & A. But I've gotten over it. I forgive her. I still sent her a Happy Birthday message. I doubt that she ever really, truly wanted to do it. She probably got talked into doing it, then got overwhelmed by the larger than expected number of questions.
It would be nice though if they removed the Q & A mention from her website.

Has anyone else here ever met her?
