It's breathtaking. Now I know how those who didn't get to go to Vegas felt. That duet was probably worth the price of admission.

It looks like she thought it was going to be "we did the best we could" and was ready to sing on it, then remembered it was just Don's line ("you did the best you could.")
From this I'm guessing they traded off verses and then did the choruses together? I wish we could hear a little more of Stevie's part. Beautiful, nonetheless.

Great clip. I wasn't familiar with the song, so went and looked at the lyrics.
OMG... If I had been there and I knew that song, I woulda been bawling my eyes out like a baby. It would have been a repeat of opening night in Vegas during BATB... those are some very powerful words. Stevie is definitely in emotional mending mode these days. I think it's absolutely beautiful!! {{sob}}

Lyrics to Circle Dance:
I don't know why it should be so hard
Givin’ up this circle dance
Worn out steps from long ago
Don’t give love a chance
It’s a bitter heirloom handed down
These twisted parts we play
I’m not her and you’re not him
It just comes out that way
Can’t go back to make things right
(though I) wish I’d understood
Time has made things clearer now
We did the best we could
I’ll be home soon, that’s what you’d say
And a little kid believes
After a while I learned that love
Must be a thing that leaves
I tried so hard just to hold you near
Was as good as I could be
Even when I had you here
You stayed so far from me
Can’t go back to make things right
(though I) wish I’d understood
Time has made things clearer now
You did the best you could
Now that this has occurred tome
I just wanted you to know
I’ve been too faithful all my life
It’s time to let you go
So sad. Not sure it necessarily is a Stevie-Don break up song (as in after all these years, it fits their break up). But it definitely is a beautiful song for them to sing as a duet.
I also don't see it as Stevie saying goodbye to her fans...

I have to admit, this is the best I've heard Stevie in many years. She sounds heavenly on it; so soft and it sounds like she's controlling her voice perfectly. Who gives a **** about Enchanted, that was seven years ago. She tortured me with the TISL tour and then tortured me with the SYW tour where she embodied the term "senior citizen." We see things differently, dear, there's no use arguing. She's sucked in recent years, imo, and I know you don't feel the same way. That's life.

Please. She sucked vocally from the get-go when she was promoting it. I'm still recovering from her appearance on Rosie. Dull and listless, without even a hint of inflection in her voice. Her voice was incredibly weak.

I disagree and thought she did great on Everday. I think you just hate the song though. I do think though that she was having vocal trouble even then because the songs from the onset were set so low a la SDMHA, which she currently is doing in a higher key.

Disagree all you want, I thought she SUCKED.
And if she was having problems singing the songs because she lowered them so much, it's her own damn fault. She's been doing it long enough to know what to do and paying audiences shouldn't have to suffer through that low drone just because her and her crew are idiots and decided to drop the keys on her songs to the point where they're unrecognizable, nor is there any excuse for her ear piece supposedly being configured all wrong. But, then again, Stevie's vocal problems are never her fault.

Saying that we've had years of listless performances automatically means I'm referring to every one? I think not. For every Beautiful Child, there were ten Bombay Sapphires', Dreams', and Rhiannon's. If you want me to pucker my lips up to kiss her fairy ass, she had better keep performing like she has been since Vegas. Otherwise, I call it as I see it.

hmmm, I hate to bring this up a second time, but here is a review from just DAYS after a SYW show you attended, the SYW tour you say now 2 years later Stevie embodied Senior Citezen and moved like a boulder. Dont tell me you were drinking or on drugs after writing this review because we all know you've never done any of that
I just got back from the most amazing concert EVER. They pulled out all the stops tonight, folks! Stevie was WILD, Lindsey was WILDER!
So, I get into Boston around 4pm with my mother. She loves the Mac, too, and I had an extra ticket so I figured I'd let her come. LOL I'm looking around for a good place to get some grub and I come across a Chinese restaurant. It's name? Shangri-La! I had to eat there.
Parking was a real bitch and the Big Dig in Boston really f*cked up the traffic, so I finally got to the Fleet Center around 6:30. I quickly smuggled two disposables cameras (one in my crotch, the other in a box of wipes for glasses!) and whipped out my front row tickets! I bought a tour book (whoever said it sucks is full of hot-air!), some keychains, a shirt, and a lame-ass poster that I just had to get anyway.
On the way to my seats, I was in an elevator with a woman who got ripped off really badly for tickets. She paid $700 for two tix for the floor, but was 15 rows back from the stage! I felt so sorry for the thing.
So, I get to my seats and they are three feet from the goddam stage!! I was on Stevie's side, so I reached up and felt the ribbons and beads on her mic stand! Nothing special, just velvet and nylon. They were setting up the cameras for the taping and I found out that it is for the Soundstage series. Hopefully that doesn't me it'll get cut down to an hour, because this show kicked MAJOR ASS!
The show was supposed to start at 8pm, but didn't start until 8:30 because they wer ehaving difficulties with some cameras. Each time a tech guy walked out onto the stage, the audience thought it was a band member and started cheering. But finally, it started....
The Chain- Stevie stole the spotlight with this one. She really got into it, especially the third verse. She didn't really spin, but made up for it later. Lindsey had a HUGE smile on.
Dreams- Same as always, except Lindsey wouldn't look at Stevie during the song!
Peacekeeper- They have this down pat. The new back-up singer added a great new dimension to this song, IMO. She really lifted it up. Stevie made a few funny faces during it and Lindsey did the same to her.
Eyes of the World- EVRYONE KNEW THIS SONG AND SANG ALONG! My heart palpitated! Stevie went wild with the background vocals, she let loose. Lindsey BELTED it out with gusto.
Say You Will- Cute! I love her dance during this song, it's adorable.
Second Hand News- Great, but I was singing so loudly that I couldn't hear them.
NGBA- Beautiful. Lindsey whispered the lyrics practically. It had a harmony that I never thought I'd hear; it was amazing.
Rhiannon- This is where Stevie really started to realize it was being filmed and began to vamp it up! She was screaming and hollering at the end of it. She just kept going and going.
Come- The biggest applause of the night. Lindsey was in ecstasy. Once again, I was amazed that everyone knew the words. When it was over, someone screamed "I'm doing it!!" and Lindsey laughed.
Stevie went over to change shawls for Gypsy, but did it right onstage! She took off her cardigan and revealed some sexy spagetti straps... And Mama Nicks has some MAJOR cleavage. Take it from someone who's seen it close-up, MAJOR!!
Gypsy- AWESOME! She sang the high parts and EVERYTHING. She sang "Bright eyes" quite a bit, too! She was pointing at us in the front row and then pointed right at me and smiled! I smiled back...sweetly.
Big Love- Gorgeous. Lindsey seemed disappointed that it ended! LOL
Landslide- The *SHOCK* of the night!!!!!!!!!!! Stevie started to say that she chose the Boston shows and tapings to reveal a secret to us all and that it would only be told to us at the Boston shows. When it was time for the dedication, she explained. She was dedicating it to LINDSEY and that she wrote it about him!!! She then said that he taught her how to play it with a pick and that she loves him. Lindsey was sort of shaking his head towards Stevie in a discreet way, trying to hide it from the audience. She smiled back at him as he shook his head ever so slightly and...a tear slid down his cheek. Yes, a tear, NOT SWEAT, people!! He turned his back to the audience and wiped it off, shook his head, flipped back around, and started playing. I started to cry myself. It was a beautiful moment. When Stevie went over to him during his solo, she stood behind him as usual with her hands on his shoulders, but as she did that, he gently closed his eyes and nodded. When the song was over, they just stared at each other for a moment, as if it was a really awkward moment. So beautiful.
Say Goodbye- They never took their eyes off of each other for a moment. Stevie shined with her vocals, so soft and delicate.
WTWCT- AWESOME. Lindsey's best vocal of the night. Mick really got into it. Actually, the whole band did. It was great.
Beautiful Child- Heartbreaking. Stevie went wild with it towards the end. Instead of the usual "I love you, I love you" she sang "I love you, I still need you, I need you, I love you." But she hit notes that sent shivers. She really cut loose like never before on that song, dragging out each line with power.
GDW- WHOA! WHOA! WHOA! A woman possessed. Not only did she wail more than on the Dance, but she was kicking her feet into the air and punching her fist into the air. She kicked so much and so high that...I saw her bloomers. I'm not proud, but I did. Black, for those who are curious. Anyways, she went mental. She knew this was on camera and pushed herself to the limit, vocally and physically. I've never seen it performed so well and I probably never will again. Of every song tonight, this was her in all her glory, bloomers and all.
I'm So Afraid- Lindsey was having such a great time on this song that he did it longer than usual. He was going nuts with his guitar, acting like he was going to break it by smashing it. When he crouched down at the edge of the stage, everyone rushed and touched his shoes. He loved the attention, BTW.
Silver Springs- I almost forgot this! She killed it. It was simply amazing. She kicked it into high gear at the end. Screaming and wailing at Lindsey.
Stand Back- Once again, she knew she was being filmed and danced her heart out. She did a lot of impromptu stuff and pranced around the stage like a wildcat. She went over to every back-up band member and danced for them! Awesome. Oh, and Lindsey did the chicken dance during the intro. I was like, "WTF?!"
Tusk- One of my faves. Not only did Stevie and Lindsey pretend to have a fistfight, but...they wrapped their arms around each other, put their heads together, and slow-danced for a hot minute. They just embraced each other and practically stood there, clutching each other. Then they seemed to realize they were in the middle of the song and started back up again.
GYOW- Another standard, but worth its weight in gold. It was flawless.
World Turning- My BIG moment with Lindsey and Stevie!!! Lindsey came over to our side and got as close to us as possible. He kneeled and extended his guitar for us to strum Of course, I pounced on him and started strumming like a nut. He found it amusing and toussled my hair! So...I toussled his right back! I nearly died. Stevie saw this and pointed at us and smiled! I started to withdraw, but he grabbed my habd, put it back onto the guitar, and banged it up and down on the strings!! I was in heaven...
Don't Stop- I got the eyes from Stevie during this one. She looked at me right before the "All I want is to see you smile..." and played air guitar, in reference to my "incident" with Lindsey! Wooohooo! Awesome version, too.
Goodbye Baby- The joint was silent. Stevie had tears in her eyes and looked out at the audience with a loving expression. I cried.
It was the night of my life. I was right there, so I took some HOT pictures!! If they develop good, they will be some great shots; I got them at great moments. I'll post 'em as soon as I get them back from CVS! Look forward to the PBS show, because this concert will *astound* you. Stevie was the Stevie from yesteryear; she was unbelievable. And she is GORGEOUS in person. Also, the camera does add ten pounds. She's a skinny mini, IMO. Absolutely stunning. If I can think of anyhting else, I post it; I'm still excited and can't think to write anyhting else LOL

I downloaded the CD clip yesterday and I thought Stevie's voice sounded amazing , as did Don's. I'm a little confused as to her choice in the song, though. I guess she must really love it. When they're singing it to each other and knowing about their past, I was trying to figure out her meaning, but maybe I just try to figure out Stevie's meanings too much.. She probably just thought the song was pretty. I looked it up and David Crosby wrote it.. (Bonnie Raitt sang it). Anyway, she looks beautiful and rested and it was a sweet love song for both of them. :xoxo:

Surely you aren't comparing the show that they were "on" for the cameras to all of the other shows from that tour. John Run was also at that show and can attest to it being one of the best shows they ever put on. So, just imagine my surprise when I saw them again less than a year later and it was one of the worst shows I've ever attended, Mac or no Mac.

The Mansfield '04 show was putrid. As I've said before, if it weren't for Lindsey, Red Rover, and I Know I'm Not Wrong, I would have left. The boot was posted on someone's site shortly after the show, surely you heard it and can testify to how putrid it really was.

For me, it's really hard not to get into the excitement while the show is on. If I watched them back on tape or dvd, I know I would still be excited but see things I overlooked while it was happening live. I'm sure they do make even more of an effort when the show is being taped and their fans will own it on dvd because they know it's going to be watched over and over and really scrutinized.
I think Stevie is moving around much better than she did on the SYW tour, at least from what I could tell in Vegas and by a few of those clips from the last few days. She was stiffer then and so now, the difference is really noticeable.

That whole Fall 03 Tour was pretty much on par with the Boston Tapings (9/6-10/20 I belive, pretty short leg, but an amazing one) And from bootlegs I've heard I think she was even more ON overseas in England and Austrailia, and for the first 5 shows of the 04 leg. But then she got sick again. And you cant even think about counting thatr Mansfield show. The shows beofre AND after it were cancelled. You were smack dab in the middle of like 4 cancelled shows. She was clearly sick.

I don't give two squirts of duck ****. Her illness had nothing to do with the rest of the band sounding dull and putting on a boring show, and if she doesn't want to get terrible reviews, she shouldn't go on when she's sick and that show should have been canceled, too. People paid money to see it and the show sucked, end of story. I would have been foaming at the mouth if I had attended the TISL show where she lost her voice. F*ck that band Creed, I would have sued La Nicks for a refund.

I do not hear or see a "message" between her and Don in Circle Dance. Stevie chose the song for HER set and she introduced it by saying she loved it. Stevie sang on Hotel California, NYM and LWE in his set....probably cause she liked the songs and Don thought she would sound good on them. I feel like she chose Circle Dance because the lyrics are something that touch her, perhaps at this time in her life.
His wife was sitting backstage and I can't imagine Stevie decided to send some long lost love message to Don smack dab in front of her. To me, the lyrics are about reflecting on how past decisions affected her life and love. The decisions she is making now are clearer, with all she knows and has learned from the past. In my opinion she is speaking about her OWN future, not some past experiences between her and Don. Even though she knows what she wants for her future, it is still difficult to let go. (career?) At least that is how it speaks to me. There was no real interaction between her and Don on the song either...she looked at him only to sing the chorus with him. While singing the verses she looked at the audience for the most part.
AWESOME! Thanks so much for posting! I'm so torn beteween seeing this song done and all the ones I think she'll do when Henley leaves(especially FFG & HSML). One can only hope she's willing to do some allnighters and do them all! :blob2:

I didn't think it was a long-lost-love message and I'm only kidding when I comment on her and Don hooking back up. I don't really think they are.. But, someone on another thread said it sent out a strong message and I wondered what message it was sending, considering their past relationship. The lyrics sound like it's a *goodbye* song or trying to say goodbye after a painful relationship. So, like I said, I probably try to figure out Stevie's meanings too much when she probably just thought the song was pretty. I briefly wondered if she was saying goodbye to Don because she never did.. She did the same with Goodbye Baby to Lindsey, making it sound like she had never properly said goodbye to him and wrote it for that purpose.
I don't know what she wants for her future, but I hope it's years and years of more solo touring. I am loving this and reading your reviews makes me feel like I am right there with you.

I wasn't there the first night when they did the closeups, only the second night (the public one). The pics came out okay, but I took them with a disposable camera. The reason they came out alright was because I was standing right under Stevie, leaning up against the stage, so I could snap them without being caught by security and the light was decent. If I was out in the arena, they would ahve sucked. The two GOOD ones I got were of Lindsey with his arm around Stevie after Landslide and Stevie turning during Gypsy. I have to dig them out.

Tiffanister, you're such a nice lady. Kirsten, I don't know you, but you're an amazing woman.
I used to know a Kirsten in grade school. She played a heck of a punchball game. Most kids used both their fists, together, but Kirsten had an interesting technique whereby she used one fist (her right) struck just so against the side of the punchball, thereby rendering her opponent unable to return the swing.
I know you & that Kirsten are not the same Kirsten.
