View Full Version : ~~~~i touched her~~~~
I write this but minutes after getting home from the show. After reading the threads from folks that have shook her hand and tried to be happy for them, i confess i felt somewhat resentful. I feel somewhat guilty that I cannot be happy for others who were so fortunate, but such is such. I hope you all do not think less of me for feeling it. That being said, I hope I am somewhat redeemed in your eyes for admitting it. Tonight was different. It was my time, my chance.....I had to take it or forever regret it. I went past the ropes when she glided by (very out of character for me to be so aggressive) walked up to the stage, handed her my box of incenses and one of my hand made glass beads from my right hand, offered my left hand. Stevie took both. It was the most indescribable feeling to look her in the eyes. It was like my entire brain hiccupped and my viscera liquified. All bodily functions were back-burnered for that instant. The heart seemed to stop, breathing stopped, brain activity went into delta waves. I was a vegatable....perhaps a carrot, or i could have been a beet, who knows. It is always a ticklish feeling to be close to her. It seems the atoms in my body spin a bit differently, but to make eye contact, and even physical contact and to be acknowledged is overwhelming to me. I can say all this here without most of you thinking I am somewhat pathological....unlike with most folks. Also do consider that this is being written after a few shots of Slivovitz, so what I have written takes on the characteristics of this histrionic drink. I truly believe this is the forum in which what I have said will be understood and not worried about. nonetheless, I still reluctantly hit the "submit new thread button".
for anyone that took the time to read this entire thing, I deeply and sincerely thank you.
ps...i will be at the holmdale show...u can spot me in a bright orange bandana and an earthy toned dyed shirt.
to all.....be well

Congrats, sweetie! We understand! I missed my opportunity by a mere 2 feet in Vegas. I'm glad you went for it & got it!
BTW - why the HELL were you drinking Slivovitz?!?! That stuff is just EVIL! My dad drinks it & starts talking about "the old country." :p

wow...that's what it does awrightie. Cherishing pain is an Eastern European Jewish thing. We love our pain. It is one of the few things that cannot be taken away from us. We savor it, steep in it, sink into it's downy folds. For instance, Beauty and the Beast, It ripps me to pieces...I just love how much it hurts me. Slivovitz seems to be something of an amplifier of this odd morose, overcast way of viewing the world. Well, normally I am a rum person, but tonight I needed the bigger guns.

We're not Jewish, but I so know what you mean. When I stepped off the plane in Bulgaria for the first time in my life, I started sobbing uncontrollably!
But yeah, Slivovitz - bad, bad stuff.

Congrats! I was so excited that for at least a week after Vegas it was all I could thing about. I went into every single classroom at school and wrote "I touched Stevie Nicks" on every black board! Everyone at school thinks I am crazy when it comes to Stevie!

sounds like you got the general feeling tho...I guess we can make you an honorary member....next time, try the Western Wall if you want a good sobbing session.

well, "they" may be right about all of us being "tetched"....but what can we do? It's part of who we are, like it or not. For many of us, it wasn't even our choice. Loving Stevie was something that chose us. It just happened. In fact, sometimes it would be nice to turn off for a spell....for as many of us know, it has been known to bring us at least as much pain as it does pleasure. Such is often the nature of apreciating and creating of worthwhile art. It cannot be explained in objective terms. As we may say in the Deadhead comunity, "if I have to explain it, you wouldn't understand". It's not by any means an elitist comment, it simply states that the subjective defies explanation. You get it or you don't. You all get it, you hepcats (as Donovan would say...bless his heart)

True, being a fan can cause pain from time to time. I have had many a fight with my parents because they think I am "greedy" or "selfish" for wanting to see Stevie Nicks as much as possible. I want to get tickets for the Tampa and Miami shows and my Mom was like "And when will enough be enough? It's just greed!" No, it is not greed it is something that I need in my life. It is a part of me. I love Stevie the way I love my family. If anything ever happened to her, I don't know how I would go on. I would curl up and die if anything happened to Stevie because she is one of the most important people in my life.

Congrats! You must be on cloud nine!
I know how you feel. It's very dreamlike when you encounter Stevie...but you remember always like it was yesterday. I have been able to have 3 encounters like that with her, the two most recent being in Vegas 3 weeks ago. As a matter of fact, a friend of mine who has a boot of the friday Vegas show said I can be seen in it as this was happening!! (My copy will hopefully be here tomorrow!! I cannot wait to see this and show ALL co-workers and family members! ) I was trying to tell Stevie something as she had my hand, and as this was happening I noticed I had my other hand on her forearm! I was like, why am I feeling soft velvet? then I let go, because I didn't want her to think I was grabbing at her or anything. ;) Anyway, she couldn't hear me so she just smiled. I shoulda just said "thank you" or "I love you" because that's lip-readable.
Enjoy your drink and your party on Cloud 9!!

That's wonderful. I'm crying, cause I know I would feel the same way. :xoxo: BTW, the Itals love our pain, too. ;) I've never touched Stevie's hand...

HEY!!! That's exactly what happened to me when I had my "moment" with Stevie. So, you are officially Stevie-fied! Congrats!
