Well, now that I'm partnerless, this is how I spend my Friday nights. Starting threads. I am so f**king sad. Anyway, enough about me.. What are your most embarrassing FM confessions. Mine are:
That I even like them at all
That I dance wildly to the Chain and have every move almost choreographed, I’ve done it so many times. It doesn’t matter where I am. If I hear it come on, I start moving. My favorite part is when it slows down and then the drums start back up, then the guitar and then I go crazy! I also love to sway to GDW.
I think NTF is cool!
I cry every time I hear Storms. Every single time.
SOTM almost arouses me and I'm not gay. (The whole Tusk album was sheer brilliance!!!)
I flipped someone off at a concert once (not a FM concert) for dissing Stevie when I was talking about her. Everyone looked at me like I was insane.
There are more, but I think I've humiliated myself enough for now. Anyone have any?

I would look more at home at a metal show than a Stevie Nicks solo/Fleetwood Mac show
I headbang to Fleetwood Mac in concert (Ol' habits die f**kin' hard!!!)
I blast "Stand Back" at deafening volumes
I intimidate (Not intentionally, I just look pissed pretty much 24/7) people sitting near me so I never have to hear the "Sit down your blocking my view" BS from anyone!!!

When I was telling people about Vegas and they asked, "Who are you going with?" I told people I was meeting some friends out there, only the people closest to me knew that they were Ledgies!

When Stevie blasts through the speakers, I twirl...even in the shower.
I have an imaginary tambourine.
...That they took my screaming and yelling from LIB and added it to the mix....very loudly.
My AIM profile always has a FM lyric of some kind in it
I wanna name my first child something FM related. (Fritz, if possible)
.....and I've been spending wayyy too much time on The Ledge. I need to start work already. The 20th seems so far away.... :distress:

I do that too, usually while driving. Hrmmm...
NGBA...most, if not all of it.
the end of Gypsy...the "Stevie! Stevie!" oy. I remember that well. :distress:
The "Wooo..Go Lindsey" during the SB guitarbation.
That's all I can think of right now. It sure is my voice.

Hey, your "Stevie! Stevie!" at the end of Gypsy was great. For the others I need to watch LIB again.
By the way, embarassing moments:
One just yesterday I sang all Landslide listening to the St. Louis 1979 boot while I was waiting for the bus in a strangely empty road.

O_oI keep forgetting about that! I have to go listen to that tomorrow when I get a chance to use the family DVD player.
Anyway, my confessions are:
I have a few stethoscopes with FM-related names (though some were given those names unintentionally if that makes sense)--Stevie, Christine, Robin, Lori, and Bella Donna. Oh and Sara! I almost forgot about her and she's in my sig! :o
My feelings for Stevie are so confusing. I can't decide if I want her to be my aunt or if I want to bang her. (Not that I know anything about the latter. )
Christine I'm pretty sure I want to bang. Things are more clear-cut with her.
On that note, I totally think Christine is way sexier than Stevie in the "Hold Me" video. I know no one (except maybe Homie) agrees.

I AGREE! I AGREE!
As for banging, while I'd stand a better chance with Christine (I've seen the guys she goes for, believe me, I stand a chance), I still think my first choice would be Bekka if for no other reason than the soulful screams. Stevie, not so much. If anything, I'll have to hear about any relationship for the rest of my life because she would write about it in code in one of her songs, and frankly I don't need that kind of pressure, damnit!

Lately I've been nuts about Christine's looks. I was just watching the "Hold Me" video today and no one can lip-synch worth a damn in it but my eyes are all over Christine. Sure, Stevie looks great writhing around in the desert in that dress (though that kind of attire doesn't seem appropriate for the climate  ), but Christine takes the cake in that video. I want to kiss her so badly! http://img124.echo.cx/img124/8261/beatingheartsmiley8rk.gif

I feel the same way about SOTM. ;)
I don't really have any confessions. I just sing really loud, all the time, and record how it sounds. Hmm, I guess that should be a confession. Anyway, audacity.com - do it! I stomp around to the chain, and when i watch the TUSK video i get sticks out and try to play drums on my floor. I sing to all guitar parts.

That, or the fact I heard the words "Fleetwood Mac" come up in a conversation between a couple other co-workers. I managed to insert myself into the conversation...I mentioned the BN album and GOS...the other guy SEEMED interested. I told him I'd burn him copies and I brought them in the next day for him.
And though we can see each other everyday (the newsroom is made up of those little half cubicals that you can see over), he hasn't spoken to me since.
I'm trying to figure out if he thinks I was hitting on him or if he just thinks I'm too freaky!
But...but...I couldn't help myself...

Noway, that's not goob, that version is THE ****!!!! I would totally do that, if I wasn't busy hopping around like Lindsey, and tilting my head back yowling "Chaaaaaaaaiiiiiinnnnnnnyeaaaahhhhh" to Stevie, not to mention trying to sing both parts at once!!

I have been known on the rare occasion to talk to my posters...
Mind you, I don't carry on conversations. But let's say, for example, that Anne Heche is on the television - I might turn to one of my Lindsey posters and say "What the hell were you thinking?"
Likewise to the Billy Burnette picture on my Time poster if I happen to be watching "Saturday Night Special."

I have had dreams about Stevie & Mac. Usually right before a show I'm going to, but I had one last night. Me & Stevie & Theresa were hanging out at the bar my parents used to own. WTF?
I quote Mac songs in ordinary every day conversation to people who don't know or care what I'm talking about.
I do the Gold & Braid dance pretty much every time I hear it, complete with tamborine toss. (Amber was forced to witness this in Vegas.)

FM overload results in burnout for beginners. You have to spoonfeed them or make them think they've discovered them on their own. Casually slide Tusk into the cd player and in a surprised voice say "oh wow, this is pretty good..who is this?" Then, let nature take its course.

My most embarrassing FM confessions. OMG. Got a day or two?
- Well, I've had COUNTLESS Stevie and/or Fleetwood Mac dreams - everything from meeting them, to BEING Stevie - cheating on Kristen with Lindsey!!! - to just hanging out with Stevie, to buying Stevie lunch at a corner store (that one was bizarre)
- I cried after the last Behind The Mask show I saw because I was so sure it was the last time I'd ever see Stevie live
- no one in my circle of friends knows I've travelled to other cities and out of my country to see Stevie or FM live in concert
- I will ALWAYS and forever regret that I didn't name my dog "Gypsy"
I know there's much more. Basically, no one knows how much I love SN and FM. It's not something I choose to share. None of my friends would understand. It's why I like this place so much.

These are too funny!
Here are some of mine:
-If I am watching Live in Boston and Standback comes on, I grab a blanket (as if it is the standback cape!) and start dancing, twirling at the same time Stevie does. (That is my worst secret- I need serious help!)
-I get a stomach ache before every show because I am "nervous" for the band!
-I listen to Stevie in the shower and pretend the shampoo bottle is a microphone and jam!
-I almost fainted during Beauty and the Beast in Vegas.
-I wish I were on American Idol so I could sing all my favorite Stevie songs!
-I will quote Stevie whenever I feel it makes sense in a conversation. Today I said "I need a little sympathy". But it went right over everyone's head because they don't know it is a Stevie lyric, they just thought that was my choice of words.
-When I am getting dressed I sometimes think, If Stevie were a man, would she wear this? :wavey:

i also slip lyrics into conversation, matt is the only person who 'gets' it. sometimes i get a strange look after an 'it hurts my everything' or a 'read between my lines'...
i know this isn't so rare (especially here on the ledge), but i know every syllable intimated on the Dance. the dialogue, the inflection... so at the end of certain songs, let's just say Silver Springs, the song isn't over until 'thank you very much, we really appreciate it - Silver Springs is a great old song, thank you'...
i also do the 'moves' from the concert videos. most notably the high kicks on G&B, the mic grab slash make a fist during Rhiannon from the Dance, and the backwards sashay from LIB's Stand Back.
my (ex)boyfriend didn't have a clue about the obsession until two years into our relationship. the realization went something like "why didn't you meet me for lunch... were you watching the Dance again?"

I have been known on the rare occasion to talk to my posters...
I do that too!! I refuse to change in my room becuase I swear they are watching me. It's scary, actually.
I find myself dancing around my room playing my tambourine with the music all the time. Especially to Destiny Rules or Thrown Down.
I try and spin with Stevie during Stand Back from Live in Boston and normally fall down in the process.
If I'm watching Live in Boston with a friend I will do all the hand movements that Stevie does. They all think I'm crazy
I, like other people, quote Stevie's songs when I'm talking, too. People never understand...
I'll be sitting in school and persuade myself that one day, Stevie will come into my class and take me out to lunch and take me shopping that day.
I find myself doing the Say You Will dance when I listen to the song... Even if I am on the bus or something, I'll do it without realizing it.

Well, now that I'm partnerless, this is how I spend my Friday nights.
Aaahh.... I know, believe me. I'm in the same boat. Right now I feel safer posting here than going out and trying to meet someone else.
Here are my embarrassing confessions and these would only be embarrasing to non-fans, of course. You all understand these things, for sure.
- I sobbed like a baby in Vegas during BATB
- I've spent an ungodly amount of $ on stage-worn clothing and have a hard time NOT spending more when they come up (like the Christie's Rhiannon outfits for $6,000)
- I couldn't speak and went vegatative when I had my turn during an Edge walk
- I can only do FM and SN karaoke songs because I don't care to learn any others
-The two years I spent haunting and hunting for clothes and boots that looked like Stevie would wear, did my hair like hers, wore shawls, etc. to WORK everyday. I know this might not seem weird to you all, but it was a phase and sometimes when you go thru phases and you're on the other end of it, you wonder why you did it. It was fun then, even tho a few people made some rude comments, it's a little embarrasing to think back on it. :o
I guess that's about it fer now.

I can't say that I'm embarrassed by these opinions, just that they're not popular ones:
I liked Gypsy live on the SYW tour. Don't like it on the Mirage or Dance tours. Other than the acoustic live version, my favorite version is still the one with the Heartbreakers. Like the fast pace, reminds me of Blondie's Atomic.
I don't care for Everywhere live, and I barely tolerate the album version.
I think Homeward Bound and Sugar Daddy are good, and Honey Hi is brilliant. I don't mind Mystified; the vocal is pleasant.
I think Empire State is better than Can't Go Back.
I prefer You And I Part II to Part I.
I prefer The Ledge to I'm So Afraid.
I prefer Second Hand News to GYOW.
I find The Dance's Rhiannon overrated, though I like it.
I've had dreams where Stevie is young & singing to me in space.
I think RTTG is worlds better than EFO.
I think Seven Wonders has a great vocal.
I think Freedom is the best song on Mask.
I like All Over Again, but dislike all of Chris's other songs on Time.
I think Stevie is the only good thing in the Hold Me video. The Seven Wonders video is hypnotic. Everybody looks terrible in the Big Love video.
I own Best Shots, but I can't bring myself to like Pat Benatar completely since she won Grammys against Stevie. And I cringe every time I hear MM's You Should Hear How She Talks About You for winning against Edge.
I think Warm Ways is written for the orthodontist's office, and I dislike the album version of World Turning.
I think Stevie's Mirage songs are as good as her Tusk songs.
Flame away. :woohoo:
- Jake
- my harddrive (and a cdrom) is filled with pictures of the bandmembers
- I've had an obsession with downloading concerts etc. via throwndown.net
(somehow I've grown out of it.. hmm.. or did I just move on to downloading loads of mp3's of other bands?)
- been on this board off and on since '97
- I make the Nicksfiles
- I try to find a connection between the mac and other bands/artists I listen too, "6 degrees of separation" and I actually like something better when I find one
- I used to get REALLY upset when I missed a tv-appearance. Could ruin my week. I used to video tape anything. Interviews of 30 seconds even.
that's about it.

Oh my God, this is so me LOL. I was also in 12 yr old love with Lindsey....Only in 1982 when Mirage came out on HBO, my family didn't have HBO (my dad was so darn frugal), so i had to somehow finagle it so I could go down the block to my friend Danielle's house and watch there..and of course there I had to pretend NOT to be psychotic -- ie I couldn't kiss the screen and cry etc LOL-- but I did sit 2 inches away from it, and pretty much put a halt to all conversation. I think her mother thought I was disturbed.
I used to take pictures of the Hold Me and Gypsy videos. And write down in my diary the actual time of DAY any FM video came on MTV. (why did i do that.....??? what was really the point?? to see if there ws a time pattern established?? :p )
And finally, as an adult, I somehow got my new husband, who didn't know or care who the heck FM was, to make a big 'ol website dedicated to them.

Of course there are tons more confessions but I'd be here all day.....

Nice to know I'm in good company! I had this whole elaborate fantasy world built around Lindsey! Diary entries and everything (which my viscious older sister once stole and started reading to my mother). And Lindsey is pretty much the only celebrity crush I've ever had, so obviously there was something quite special about him!
Ohhh, here's another one! My hair is brown and curley, which doesn't lend itself to looking like Stevie's. So one time (again 12 or 13 years old) I got it real curley and took an eyebrow pencil and drew in a beard and mustache ala Rumours Lindsey, adopted an appropriately pensive look, and took a picture!
Obsessive was my love...

aahh, as was mine.
I stole change from my mother's "school lunch money" drawer to make copies of every single page of Samuel Graham's Unauthorized Biography, and considered taking it from the library and telling them I lost it so i could keep it. it cost me quite a bit to copy that whole book because each page took 2 copies. and the quality sucked big time but i still did it.
I kept pictures of LB in my velcro wallet-- a Rumours era one and the 'new' one (gorgeous solo album promo pic).
I kissed every one of their photos goodnight before I went to bed--I actually still have one of Lindsey-- and you can see the greasy yellowing of the paper where my oily teenage nose bumped it every night. so gross.
My parents quickly learned that I'd do stuff w/ less of any attitude if they made it FM related. examples that come to mind: "Can you clear the table please...didn't Stevie used to be a waitress and do things like that?" or "Come to this (boring ass) antique show/flea market with us..maybe they'll have old Fleetwood Mac memoribilia there.." (They never did.)
these stories of obsession are a bit scary. :D

Stevie, not so much. If anything, I'll have to hear about any relationship for the rest of my life because she would write about it in code in one of her songs, and frankly I don't need that kind of pressure, damnit!
Nobody would every even THINK the song would be about YOU, anyway, Steve. OF COURSE, everyone would SWEAR she'd written it about Lindsey, after all. :D
Whoa Mari, mine are exactly the same although I only discovered this board a couple of years ago and I wish I had created the Nicksfiles!
But apart from those, ditto! (I've even grown out of my obsession with Thrown Down.net just like you)
Well there's plenty of other bandmembers left who could easily fill a page with embarrasments *hint hint* :D

It took me 15 years to realize the guitar solo on "Oh Well" (part 1) was played by Danny Kirwan & NOT Peter Green.
really? Because that's the first time you saw a videotape of them playing?

Well, I think walking around Downtown Washington D.C. carrying a sign that says, "HAPPY BIRTHDAY LIDDY!" wearing a tiara (that also says Happy Birthday) pretty much takes the taco as does Mick Fleetwood pointing you and your two partially in the bag friends out on stage only to have the whole of the MCI Center turn and look at you. Not to mention, whilst walking around with said tiara on head, people telling you "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" At first I felt compelled to explain it wasn't my birthday...it was Lindsey's but after about 20 Happy Birthday's from random strangers, I just began to say "thanks."

Hmmm... I made a shirt for Stevie's birthday that said "Happy Birthday Stevie!" on it and I wore it to school. First off, people had no idea who she was and second, I had a girl ask me if HE went to our school.
I gave a speech on Stevie, and I brought my tambourine in for a prop. I figured, what the hell, and carried it around the whole day! People thought I was insane. :o

I flipped someone off at a concert once
Me too-at the TISL show! Actually it was a group of people who were talking amongst themsleves (LOUDLY) and then had the nerve to tell me to "sit down" because they couldn't see--and they weren't even paying attention to the show!!! I was so fuming mad that I flipped them all off and then basically missed Rhiannon because I was still so mad I couldn't see straight . Stupid f*cking people .

Love it. I missed parts of songs, too, because of my fight with stupid Tusk guy. THe thing is, I wasn't even saying anything, and he kept trying to argue with me. I mean, I wouldn't even answer, and he'd keep talking. Finally I *yelled* STFU!!! I'M TRYING TO LISTEN TO THE F***** MUSIC!!! Then at another one, these people were all crowding me at the front, and they wouldn't stop talking, either. One time, they were all "I LOVE THIS SONG SOOOO MUCH!!!" And then proceeded to talk the whole way through the song, and every other song, too.

You know Amber I went through a period where I was a total freak magnet. If there was a mentally unstable person in the same place I was, they would find me. For some reason I was attractive to the freaks and weirdos.
Not only that for a while every mad person mumbling away on train would decide to come and talk to me. I had one guy who thought he was Jesus ("if you don't believe me ask them down Kentish Town police station, they know me" he said), another asking me for advice because he was hearing voices in his hair, another walking around with an empty cat carrier trying to persuade me it was an alien and then there was a scary woman who followed me from Brixton station shouting giberish at me.
Luckily I seem to have come through that phase unscathed!

#1-That I have been here at the Ledge for exactly 4 years today (Man, hasnt felt like it has been that long  )
#2-I have a large stack of Fleetwood Mac/Stevie Nicks audio tapes that need to be transferred to cd, But I am just too lazy (At the moment) to do 'em (ie-Slackin' off)

It's hard not to when they come up to you and start asking you questions.
The cat woman made me laugh actually, she seemed harmless.
It's quite sad really :(
It is sad. Yet funny, when you tell it. :( It's hard for me to talk to people who are crazy.

I know the pain  At least it gives us stories to tell.
Yes, I mean, what would you do if you couldn't tell the story of the guy with the talking hair?
That is very sad, I'm sure he is schizo and probably not getting the right care. I saw a childhood friend of mine last weekend and she is shizophrenic, she's not even the same person anymore, it's a very sad illness.

I can't imagine what it would be like to lose my sense of reality and not be able to trust my own mind.

It's actually pretty liberating, once you get used to it. Every day, fresh and new. Not a care in the world, unless you want to make one up!... :D

I hate that. They want you to sit down so they can talk through the entire show! Stay home and watch LIB if you're gonna do that.
I was at a Slayer concert with about five of my friends and I was talking about Stevie. I don't even remember now what I was saying, but my ex's best friend started saying things like "she must be 80 now" and singing "Rhiaaaanon" while making a bloated, fat face. I gave him a death stare at first which just made him tease me more, so I finally flipped him off. Everyone else thought what he was doing was hilarious. Stupid f*cking people is right! Why does Stevie always get picked on?
