Let's just cut to the chase and "nix" two albums: Rock a Little and Street Angel. There...done.:laugh:
Let's face it, those albums do not showcase Stevie's strengths as a singer/songwriter, but hey, she was coked out of her mind in one and zombied out in the other. I forgive her. And yes, I concede that there are a few good songs on those albums, but not many :sorry:.

I liked the notion behind it. However, I thought it was trite and the music was not very good to these ears. I will say the sense of urgeny in her voice when she says "Where is my father - where has he gone" is stunning to me. Sadly, the rest of the song is not.
AND ANOTHER THING  - what is with all of the "Imperial Hotel" hate - BASTARDS

Words are trite I'll agree but I think it has a very interesting sound musically and doesn't sound like anything else she has ever done. That gets points from me. And I love when she is calling out at the end "Where is my father...."

I just could never get past the opening lines, something about how Stevie can relate to the troops' experience in the desert because she was born in Phoenix.

Rhiannon - Enchanted Version, just doesnt do it justice
One more big time rock and roll star - excellent title, boring song

I believe the line you are referring to is "I was born in the desert, so I know how it feels there". Perhaps she was talking about the fact that she could relate to the heat? ;)

1. Jane
2. Goldfish and Ladybug (hate hate hate this song!!)
3. Goodbye Baby :sorry: (LOVE the demo and live but the SYW version is just awful--ruined the song in my opinion--sounds like a little old lady singing at the beginning!)
4. I Sing for the Things
5. Desert Angel
6. Silver Girl (booorrring!!)
7. Just Like a Woman
8. When I See You Again (what's the matter baby's ruin this one--otherwise would have been a nice song)
9. Rock a Little
10. Not Make Believe (only listened to this once and was thoroughly disappointed--maybe I need to listen again!!)
I can't believe how many don't like The Second Time--I love that song!! But I also love Imperial Hotel, The Nightmare, and numerous others that a lot of people don't seem to like!! Kind of interesting how much everyone has such different tastes for certain songs :)

Ewww! And I hate how she did Goodbye Baby!! ha ha I think I'm one of the only ones that think that though--she kind of sounds like she is whispering or something at the beginning--two things I hate when ANY artist does this in a song are whispering and talking instead of singing the words--just ruins it IMO.......I don't know why but the whispering in a song especially bugs me :p This is fun though--reading everyones posts and opinions!!

Whoever the hell was playing on this song needs to learn to PICK UP HIS FINGERS WHEN CHANGING CHORDS. I love those albums! Rock A Little was good, for an 80's album. I mean, it was *the 80's*, right? ;) And I love Street Angel. I don't like the song Street Angel *at all* though. Bleh! There is one or two other songs I would prefer were not on there, and then insert a few demos of hers instead, and then it would be awesome. But even as it is, there are some songs on there I just love and I love that album. (I know, I'm weird).
Ghosty
06-04-2005, 02:43 PM
I agree with the Street Angel part. There is nothing good about that album. :sorry: Just my opinion.
[another major, dry gasp] :p
I love Greta, Kick It, Maybe Love, ~ hate Bob Dylan (sorry Stevie, oh ~ and Bob, and any Bob fans out there) but love her version of Just Like a Woman. I love Blue Denim, and Destiny. I love Rose Garden (even though I'm not big on country).
I wish she did not do these songs on it:
Street Angel
Jane
Love Is Like A River
Docklands (I don't hate that song, but take that and the Street Angel song and that whole theme out of the album)
Then replace those songs with:
The Dealer
Belle Fleur or If You Were My Love (or both ~ hee!)
Sanctuary
and end the whole album with ~ She Still Loves Him
And then call the album Maybe Love...
I need tomake my own version of Street Angel and burn a copy...that'd be fun. I like the cover picture on it too, but wish there was one or two more pics of her inside. The pic of her niece is cute, and the one of the singers is so small....in the cd anyway. I don't know if there were any albums made of it. I have albums all the way up including Other Side of the Mirror.

But yes, we would call you a wannabe amongst ourselves... There's also a lesser known law that though you may dislike more than 10 stevie songs, if you like either Silver Girl or Desert Angel, you get automatic inclusion. Jane is on the watch list...:laugh::lol::lol:

I may just end up getting to use that baby if I can pull off the Pitts show. ;)
Chances are slim to none that I can get there, but not totally out of the realm of possibility. Of course, Mark will be home from work in a few hours & at THAT point it probably WILL be out of the realm of possibility. :D
