View Full Version : No other versions?

I'm posting this here since it seems we have a lot more Stevie demos, alt. versions, masters, etc than Mac/LB. Are there any officially released songs for which there are no unofficial versions floating around?
The only song that really stands out for me as having nothing besides the studio version is I Don't Wanna Know.
So first of all, am I wrong? Does anyone have an alt. version or demo of this song? I haven't ever seen anything, but I'm not exactly an expert.
Secondly - can anyone think of another tune where there's nothing else available besides the album version?

I Will Run to You - Gate and Garden - Stand Back - Sable on Blonde? - though she did tape the WH recording sessions or at least some of them
I am asking here not stating, though I cannot remember any demos for these.

btw....
www.geocities.com/the3birdsofrhiannon has the best list of masters, demos, concerts, and released stuff on the web. It's fantastic. I printed it all out and use it for my own collection.

Yeah, I need to review that list again.
Here's another one:

Apparently there's an instrumental and an accapella version of IDWK. Damned if I knew.

Solo songs:

- Somebody Stand By Me
- Every Day
- Too Far From Texas
- It's Only Love

This is a pretty good list of songs without alternates/outtakes.
Off the top of my head the only note I'd make here would be that there are two versions of "One More Big Time Rock & Roll Star" circulating:
B-side which runs 4:49
Enchanted version: 4:23
I think the instrumental and acapella versions of "I Don't Wanna Know" might be the two versions that appear on the bootleg "Staying True" (2:32 & 3:03 respectively).

I have that one, too, but it also has Are You Mine tacked onto it for some reason. Most of them only have subtle differences in the mixing to my ears or continue on past where the fade is on the album versions. Beauty and the Beast has some dude talking in French on my copy.

I wish there was a way to make this available for torrent. The one I have is about 90th generation and sounds like the chipmunks.
I guess it couldn't be torrented though, because those are all released. Oops. :sorry:

I have an outtake of Docklands. Instruments are sparse, the vocal an uninspired nasal drone. (Maybe she was really doing laundrey as she recorded it.) It makes the SA version sound like the music of angels. Really.

Ilove the demo for Sable On Blonde. I like that song anyways, but the demo is called like "the electric guitar demo" and is a little faster and rockin' than the album version. But it gets cut off at the end. It's really cool though.
