MURPHY BROWN IS THE BEST SITCOM EVER. That is all. :D

Seriously, I adore that show. Every, and I mean every, season was hilarious. The early days with Elton and Phil were my fave, though. My favorite episode from the first season is the one with Robin Strassar as the Russian newswoman. Candice kills me when she says "I can't take you seriously with that accent! You sound like you should be mkaing big trouble for Moose and Squirrel!" And the Quayle jokes are still hilarious. Murphy had the best ensemble cast in histroy, in my opinion, and the writing was just remarkable.

I *liked* the first hour, even if I couldn't stand DiCaprio. It's only in the second half where it completely falls apart for me. Blanchett was fabulous, though her accent wasn't very authentic. But I won't rain on your parade. :D

I definately will complete the set on this one! So many inside jokes in it also. (So THATS why that painter guy was always in her house!...) I finally can see them in some sort of order. Funny, Funny stuff. I completed my Xena, working on MASH as they come out, and a few - okay many - others.

anime for over 30 years, And probably always will.

The best place to watch some anime is on cartoon Network's "Adult Swim" which currently has 2 of the best (IMO) anime's:

Inu Yasha (Which I am currently watching)
Full Metal Alchemist

Of the newer ones Samaurai Champloo is great...And hip as hell

Wonder women was only 3 seasons? That is surprising! It had a bit of an odd history.... pilot movie on ABC in the fall of '75, two hour-long "specials" in the spring of '76, a handful of episodes aired here and there (still on ABC) over the '76-'77 season, and then two full-length seasons on CBS, from '77 to '79.

The ABC episodes that aired erratically, are considered to be the first season.

Alias is the best, man, you should give it a shot. Nothing beats it. With it's ratings, it should have been canned a few weeks after it premiered in '01, but ABC stuck with it for some mysterious reason. You know it's fabulous when a low-rated cult show gets guest stars like Faye Dunaway, Ethan Hawke, Quentin Tarantino, Amy Irving, Vivica A. Fox, David Cronenberg, etc.

Yeah, I really wanted to like to having read the book shortly before it began. It had an amazing cast all around with King favorite Rob Lowe, James Cromwell, Donald Sutherland, Rutger. I just couldn't see how it would fail, but I guess that's what happens when Mick Garris doesn't direct the Tv-miniseries. While the Shining and the Stand series weren't great, they certainly were entertaining.

Nothankyou. For some reason, miniseries' aren't very good nowadays. They used to be events that everyone would watch and talk about (like It), but now they're just...blah. I hadn't heard about Desperation for a while, assumed it was just permanently shelved. Oh well, next may is still better than never but somehow I doubt it'll see the light of day. Weber wasn't even close to the worst thing about the Shining, it was a small child names Courtland Mead. I did, however, love the general plotting and the sets were so good for that one. I always hated Kubrick's motel 6 version of the Overlook so this finally fixed that problem.

I want lots of DVDs but am not in the habit of buying them because it could just become another compulsion I do not have room for.

I want Legend, and BATB now, would love Wonder Woman, Joan of Arcadia, Alias, Gilmore Girls, Point Pleasant (not yet in existence), and some movies I can't think of right now. Oh yeah, and the 1998 live concert video of Stevie solo. Oh yeah, there isn't one.

I wish I could! Problem is most of them are check discs (or promos) and I'd get in trouble if I gave them away. The studios prefer you chuck em out. But when I get finished copies of stuff I don't want, I give it to friends or to charity.

Awww, I love him. I think he's one of the best actors out there. Kevin Spacey and Jim Carrey are the ones I really dislike greatly.

I can't stand Jim Carrey either, but seeing him in Lemony Snicket's was something I knew I'd have to endure - whereas Law was an unpleasant surprise.

As for Kevin Spacey, I wouldn't say he's one of my favorite actors, but I like him.

Actors I can't stand - Tom Cruise, John Wayne, anyone from American Pie (except Eugene Levy, who I adored in A Mighty Wind), Ashton Kutcher, ****bait (Orlando Bloom), Jackie Chan, any of the action heroes - Seagal, Arnold, Stallone, Norris, etc., Adam Sandler, Mike Myers (except as Shrek), David Spade, Rob Schneider, Chris Tucker, Chris Rock (though I did enjoy him as the voice of Rodney the guinea pig), Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, John Travolta, Michael Douglas, and Val Kilmer (except in The Doors and Tombstone). I know there's more but those are some off the top of my head.

That's true. But Mick's DVD still isn't worth buying. Oh and for Lindsey fans out there - The We Are the World dvd isn't worth it either. And I don't just mean because LB only has like ten seconds of screen time, but the dvd just sucks in general. It doesn't even really talk about the making of the song but they call it "The Story Behind the Song." WTF?
One thing that is worth picking up is the Kingston Trio and Friends reunion dvd that was filmed in the early 80s. Lindsey plays backing guitar for and duets with John Stewart. Oh and he looks ssoo adorable in his tacky striped shirt (incidentally, he was the only one brave enough to wear one).

Dead Man (Anybody seen this one? It's a western starring Johnny Depp. It also has appearances by Crispin Glover, Iggy Pop, and Billy Bob Thornton (insert pukey smiley here). What a bizarre movie!)

A Perfect World (yeah it's a Kevin Costner movie. What's worse is it's also a Clint Eastwood movie. But I saw it on tv the other day and was reminded just how much I loved it despite.)

Am considering picking up a copy of "Be Cool" as well. I despise John Travolta, Uma Thurman, and The Rock, but somehow I really liked this one. Of course, much of that has to do with my love of Vince Vaughn.

Speaking of Uma Thurman... I finally saw the Kill Bill movies the other day. Those have to be the most worthless, overrated, piece of stinking crap movies I've seen in a long, long time. I was bored to tears by them.

Just figured I would resurrect this thread to let ledgies know that Deep Discount DVD (www.deepdiscountdvd.com) is doing their semi-annual 20% sale right now. It runs through tomorrow night at midnight. Just enter any of the promotional codes on the check out page and it removes an additional 20% off your order. I actually save up quite a few sets to buy just for this sale.

Hon, I bought sooooooooooooooooo much **** from there on Tuesday night that it's absurd. I went for a lot of the Criterion's, you can't find them any cheaper than on that site, especially with an extra 20%. You won't be disappointed with Short Cuts, either. I've had that since it came out and it's a wonderful set. The only drawback is that it doesn't have Kael's marvelous commentary. :o

Barnes and Noble is having a B2G1 sale, but it's not worth it, IMO, because they sell everything at list price. I got some 10% coupon online from the DVD Talk forum, but it still isn't much, so I didn't bother.

Yeah and Borders was doing b3G1 which wasn't so bad with their 25% off one item coupons but still has nothing on the Deep Discount Sale. My criterion collection is slowly expanding as is my altman collection. I almost caved and bought Short Cuts a while ago, but decided to wait for the sale.

I couldn't live without Short Cuts, so I preordered that sucker when I heard it was coming out. The documentary and the demos make it well worth owning, and I love Annie Ross in it. I wish that Criterion would do Nashville, though, the Paramount release is utter ****. They did a fab job with Tanner '88 and 3 Women (my fave Altman movie), so I always get weak in the knees when they come out with a new Altman one.
