I mentioned it in another thread but didn't get a reply but does anyone know if these album that didn't get kmuch talking about a month or two ago is actually coming out? It was supposed to come out with storytellers and now that has been put back

thus the interminable suffering of fandom...
i would love to see the storytellers, the new album, all of it. i just get the feeling that we'll be crossing it off our christmas lists this year, watching the release dates creeping farther into the future.
sometimes i wish i was an uninformed fan... the fan that only knows about albums via the local shop, the fan that learns of a concert when the sunday paper comes. but then again, i wouldn't be on the Ledge and i wouldn't know all of you fabulous people...

In a way, i kinda hope this Greatest Hits CD never sees the light of day... Stevie does not need another one.. two will suffice for now.. at least until she comes out more than 1 more solo album since her last Greatest Hits package
Seriously though, the tour dates are set, the tickets are apparently selling... I would much rather see Stevie on tour with her not promoting a greatest hits CD, and possibly doing a tour where she can play some more obscure material... i still think it can and will happen on this tour, despite what mostly everyone else seems to believe..

I do share your faith, I think Stevie is a good person and she will realise what the real fans want...it may not be today or tomorrow but I think it will happen.
On the CD though, is there a current set date for it?

Stevie IS a good person but that does not mean she has to give the fans what they want. She has been living under the reign of others for three decades now...producers, bandmates, labels, managers, publicists, lawyers..all of whom were advising Stevie on what was best to do. If Stevie decides to make Stevie the number one priority for awhile, that does not mean she doesn't love or care about her fans.
Don't know about the GH....don't think we will get anything rare this summer except the two songs she does with Donn and one of those will be L and L..which is not unique. This tour is not like Enchanted, when she was promoting rare.

I hate when people think that Stevie has too many greatest hits cd's. She really doesn't. She has a boxed set that is missing a few things, and is costly. Then she has "Timespace: The Best of" Which only covers 1981 - 1991.
By the way, according to Transworld the VBo Stevie Nicks is cancelled.

well Mr.... "Timespace" covered the greatest hits from 1981-1991 and then Enchanted covered the hits from 1992-1998, which includes "Street Angel"... so, basically, she has had two greatest hits packages already... and the only solo material to come out since Enchanted was TISL.. so, is there a need for yet another Greatest Hits CD??? just to cover the "hits" from TISL?? nah, i don't think so... :p

Well, greatest hits collections are not designed for the big fans, just the casual fans who may only own Timespace previously so let's think about what could be added to a potential new release:
Planets of the Universe (remix)
Sorcerer
Everyday
If You Ever Did Believe
Maybe Love Will Change Your Mind
Unconditional Love
Blue Denim
Reconsider Me
Two Kinds of Love (left off Timespace)
So there's 8 officially released singles since the last true greatest hits package (again enchanted had a totally different target demographic). Throw on a few lesser known but great tracks (perhaps Crystal and Touched by an Angel to grab the fans that don't buy the soundtracks) and you have a viable release.
Now, after all that, I will admit that I am happy it looks like Stevie is not releasing another greatest hits. That saves me cash, and hopefully makes her feel like she can do whatever she wants on the gold dust tour since she doesn't have a greatest hits album to promote.
edited to add a very important negative that I left out the first time.

Well, it's doubtful she would put "Maybe Love Will Change Your Mind" or "Unconditional Love" on a new Greatest Hits package... first, cuz "Unconditional Love" was never even released as a single, and secondly, "Maybe Love" didn't even make the Box set... i think she absolutely hates the whole SA experience and would never try to remind the public or herself about that album or any of those songs... she could however, put the others on there.. but you gotta expect the usual stuff as well... if i were to design a new Greatest Hits package for her, i would include:
Edge Of Seventeen
Leather And Lace
Stop Draggin' My Heart Around
Stand Back
If Anyone Falls
I Can't Wait
Talk To Me
Rooms On Fire
Two Kinds Of Love
Maybe Love Will Change Your Mind
Blue Denim
Twisted
If You Ever Did Believe
Planets Of The Universe
Every Day
15 songs that were released as singles and/or did fairly well on the charts...
i don't think Stevie has enough solo material from 1992-2005 alone that would constitute another GH album... :distress:

I would like to see a new Greatest Hits by Stevie only if she has a couple of new songs on it..
But by the way this thing looks, it looks like something she hasn't had much to do with or probably will--just will be a record company packed CD with some old photos thrown in the booklet kind of thing

I've said this before on another similar thread...(wha? A similar thread? where? on the ledge? no way!) and instead of a greatest hits package, she should just compile a cd of live recordings from each tour representing her entire career (yes that would include the venomous Street Angel - which I adore - Listen to the Rain, Destiny, Blue Denim, Rose Garden YUM!!!!) and call it Stevie Nicks Live. It would be so much better than listening to the bootlegs from concerts with all the crowd noise.
And she better do it fast before Fleetwood Mac puts out a fourth live album.

That's a great idea... the only problem with that is she would most likely go into the studio and re-record all the vocal tracks... she has a tendancy to do that with her solo live recordings ;)

Did she do this with In Concert? or Storytellers? I thought the only times she did this were for Red Rocks and FM's TITN.

A live album (double disc)!) is long overdue. So is a DVD concert. I love the idea of featuring songs from each tour. Did she do "Listen To The Rain" in concert? I'm not aware of that. It would have been nice. I always thought she should have done "Love Is Like A River."

I completely agree--great idea..
Here's my ideal song list for that
1.) Outside the Rain/Dreams (Bella Donna Tour)
2.) Enchanted (Enchanted Tour)
3.) After the Glitter Fades (Enchanted Tour)
4.) Fall From Grace (TISL Tour)
5.) Stand Back (Wild Heart Tour)
6.) Talk to Me (RAL Tour)
7.) Leather and Lace (AHI Benefit w/ Don Henley)
8.) Stop Draggin my Heart Around (w/ Tom Radio City 1983)
9.) Beauty and the Beast (Live Vegas 2005)
10.) HAEWAFY (TISL Tour)
11.) How Still My Love (Bella Donna Tour)
12.) Gold and Braid (Bella Donna Tour)
13.) Rooms on Fire (TOSOTM Tour)

Well the Street Angel Tour HOB Westwood One show she re-did vocals for...
Live in Boston has lots of overdubs...as does the Dance

Live In Boston has next to nothing in terms of overdubs, actually. The only song where the overdubs are really obvious is Dreams. I consider The Dance a studio recording, practically. I will praise the Mac to the stars for actually releasing a live album that sounds LIVE and not messed around with much with LIB. :D

Nice track list. As much as I love Outside The Rain, I'd nix it for the fact that Dreams is attached to it.(so overdone) Did she ever do Love's A Hard Game To Play on tour? I thought the only performances of that song were on The Arsenio Hall show and the Whiskey show. (neither one a stellar performance).
How about Nightbird from SNL? And Bella Donna!!! Oh, and she did a real nice version of After The Glitter Fades on her first tour. Glad you didn't include I Need To Know. I don't think we need to know anymore.

I don't know if she's done Love's A Hard Game to Play on tour but the beauty of this idea (legal copyrights notwithstanding) is that you could pull live performances from television appearances.
I'd even toss in "At Last" and stuff from Story Tellers. Anybody know if Story Tellers had any overdubs?
For the record, this whole overdubs thing, I coulda done without knowing that.

'The Dance' was recorded over three nights... a dress rehearsal and then two performances. The best audio was mixed together from each night, with some "sweetening" and overdubs added later.

Clearly, they added redubs on that and I think LB added guitar find a live recording commercially released without some post production work, albeit some do way more than others.

The funny thing to me about The Sance is the streamers on La Nicks' tamb. are one color in one part of the song, another color in the next, and then cak to the same color. Plus, some of the long shots appear not in sync. with the song they are singing  But, they all do it, so no biggie to me.

No band is capable of being pitch-perfect in a live setting, and nearly all indulge in some post-production overdubs and/or audio sweetening when releasing a concert album or DVD.
Plus, they had a lot riding on 'The Dance'... it had to sound fantastic.

I'm a Bonnie Tyler fan (yes, they do exist -- just ask Amber), and there are, literally, FOUR TIMES as many "best of Bonnie Tyler" collections than she has studio albums... and she was only actively involved in the release of two of those (ie: did press for them, new photoshoots for the covers, etc.).

Well, in America, she also had a major hit with "Holding Out For A Hero," and a minor hit with "If You Were A Woman (And I Was A Man)"... but she's had several other hits in Europe. Especially Germany.
And Europe is where most of these "best of" sets originate.
