These threads pop up every now & then, but I haven't seen one in a while.
What are your latest music purchases?
I just got a *ton* of CDs. I got The Velvet Underground - The Velvet Underground and Nico, Joy Division - Still, Siouxsie & the Banshees - Superstition, Sonic Youth - Goo, and I just got a part-time job at Get Hip records, so one of the perks of my job is getting free CDs. I got the Mainliners - Bring on the Sweetlife, The Highschool Sweethearts - Heels 'N Wheels, and The Paybacks - Knock Loud. All of those CDs are great, but I highly suggest you check out The Mainliners (who are PHENOMENAL live) and The Paybacks. Because mmm, garage rock.
So. Yeah. Tell me about your latest purchases because I have no life and am a postwhore tonight!

What are your latest music purchases?
I purchased the following discs:
Queen-Greatest Hits 3 (The UK Parlophone edition)
Jaime O'Neal-Brave (Great female country music that most on here at the Ledge would really like)
Deep Purple-Nobody's Perfect
Joe Nichols-Revelation
Bruce Springsteen-The Rising
Bruce Springsteen-The Ghost of Tom Joad
W.A.S.P.-The Neon God:Part 2-The Demise
U2-The Unforgettable Fire (I needed a replacement disc)
Blake Shelton-Blake shelton's Bar & Grill
Blue Murder-Nothin' But Trouble (Great hard rock!!!)
Def Leppard-Rock of Ages-The Definitive Collection
So these discs have been getting played along with Bruce Springsteen's "Devils & Dust" & James Labrie's "Elements of Persuasion" as the newer discs added to my collection.
Already waiting for June 7th to purchase the new Dream Theater "Octavarium" disc.

I'm obsessed over Breathe (2am). How is the rest of the album?? I think i'm going to have to invest  (PS - HAYLEY IS THE GREATEST)!*@!)
The last album? Amerie - Touch. Guess what, kids? The song One Thing is the single for a reason. The rest of the album? Not nearly as good as that song.

I think the last two CDs I bought were PJ Harvey's Uh Huh Her and Walter Egan's re-issue of Fundamental Roll/Not Shy. That was over a month ago. I haven't listened to them much (except for "Magnet and Steel" because it's so infectious) because I've spent most of my time listening to Gift of Screws, my Danny Kirwan stuff, and various Stevie demos.

having my music collection, I have to figure out the time to listen to both my bootleg collection and my officially released collection...Takes a math degree to figure the time out sometimes, But I listen to music about 98% of the time anyways
I haven't really gotten any new ones recently, but the ones I have gotten this year which I'm still hooked on are:
Joss Stone, "Mind, Body & Soul"
Kelly Clarkson, "Breakaway"
U2, "How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb"

I think it's a really good album. All of the songs are so damn catchy. Along with Breathe, I can't stop playing "Wreck of the Day" and "Forever Love (Digame)." Get it -- you'll like it.

I officially deem this thread the greatest thread ever. In the history of the world! I am so down with that, provided I actually get to participate in the actual procreation... not some creepy stolen eggs/spawn of Rambaldi-esque thing. Rowwr. Riss, I'll try and track you down an Anna Nalick if you want one.
Kate, it's hilarious you started this thread, because I just bought a ridiculous amount of CDs tonight at work with my discount at work:
Feist- Let It Die
The Futureheads- The Futureheads
Belle and Sebastian- If You're Feeling Sinister (replacement disc)
Kaiser Chiefs- Employment
Portishead- Portishead (replacement disc)
Phoenix- LIVE! Thirty Days Ago
Pernice Brothers- Australia Tour EP 2002
Also received promos on Friday for the new Hot Hot Heat- Elevator, New Order- Waiting for the Sirens' Call, and The OC Mix #4. I totally have never watched The OC in my entire life, but I always LOVE their soundtracks. This one's inspired me to pull out the Pinback and Reindeer Section records. YAY!

The only recent one I've bought is "The Forgotten Arm" from Aimee Mann, which is growing on me. Looooveee.
Also, I see everyone's trying to steal you away from me, Hayley. I'm not going to stand for that. I will not be ignored, Hayley. *bunnystew*
I toldja it would grow on you. Just listen to me. All the time. When I say jump, jump. When I say cry, cry. When I say drown in a pool of oblivion, Emo Boy! you'd best dive in... Emo Boy.

Most recent music purchase: Rob Thomas - Something to Be (Great album. Too bad the dual disc doesn't have the music vid for "Lonely No More," 'cause Rob's lookin' pretty yummy in that black outfit. but, you know, that's just my opinion.)
I'm not that big on today's music (to put it kindly) and there hasn't been anything new from the older artists that I like in awhile, though Walter Egan's re-release of Hi-Fi and The Last Stroll is due out at the end of this month, so I'll pick that up. There've been a few copies of it already on ebay, but I prefer to buy straight from the source.
Hoping Tom Petty's tour is coinciding with a cd release, but haven't heard anything. Managed to score 8th row tickets to Sleep Train on August 24th though. After encountering ridiculous prices on ticketmaster and tickets.com got a pretty good deal on ebay of all places. Usually tix go for way too much there.

I told you the new Garbage was fabulous. ;) Metal Heart especially.
The only new albums I've gotten in the past couple of weeks are "The Forgotten Arm" from Aimee Mann and "You're Speaking My Language" from Juliette and the Licks. Both are fab. I got Bowie's Live album from '75 that they reissued, too, it just sucks that it's kind of...bad.

The only new albums I've gotten in the past couple of weeks are...Okay, am I the only one here who doesn't buy CDs once every couple of weeks? I might do that once a month. Not only do I not have the money to buy all the CDs I want all the time, I'd go crazy with all the music if I did that. I mean, I can listen to three of the same CDs for months and get to know the music really well. If I buy more, then I'm tempted to start listening to those CDs. Then I don't really get to spend any quality time with my CDs. Seriously though.

It's just one of those nit-picky things I have going. But I know it would be less costly if I got at least some of them used, especially since some of the CDs I buy can be gotten for about 2 dollars used. I have about 500 CDs (not including the ones I've made) but it took me years to collect all of them, and I have to say that they're not all new, since some were given to me by my parents or brothers.

I buy most of mine used, anyway, But they are still usually, like, 7-8 dollars, so...I just don't like a bunch of music that much, I guess. Although there are things I want, but certainly not the volume of things that others do. I have, like, 20, but I've sold 20 or so, as well. And then others that people have made for me. There's also a lot of music I hear "around", but don't know what it is or who does it. That's a bit frustrating...

Yep. I know Dave's is still around; There's a few locations. There's one in the South Side, and one.. somewhere. I dunno. I know the Beehive's still there, not sure about Hot Rod. I was just down at Dave's, and Groovy the other day. I love it over there. ^_^

Oooh. I'm so bad. I am obsessed with buying CDs. Or, it's not really an obsession and more like an uncontrolled habit. I have too many CDs because I have such a wide range of taste in music. I also buy too many books, clothes, furniture, and work supplies- although the latter is necessary and the only thing I shouldn't really be ashamed of.
I guess shoes is like the only thing I've never been really obsessed about. I like shoes, but I'm not really the "Ohhhhh Shoooeeesss" type. But never say never.

Gah, I'm so awful about buying movies. I buy them constantly. If I'm driving alongside the road and I see a video store with a "Movie Sale" sign, I literally pull over, get out, and look. I get the circulars on Sunday, circle the ones I want, and then price check them at different stores to get bigger discounts (never shake a stick at an extra 15% off!).

What is it about shoes? I own seven pairs of "school" shoes, three "formal occasion" shoes, and like, four or five pairs of flip-flops. And those are some of the only shoes out there that I even like. Whenever I go shopping for new shoes, I know I won't splurge because there just aren't really any out there that I like that much.

And I'm excited to have so much affection for a CD that apparently all of his fans (on Amazon anyway) think is his worst effort!

last DVD's I bought were Leon: The Professional, special edition, and Garden State :)
Leon kicks ass. Garden State, too. I just replaced my Twin Peaks DVD set today (the fourth disc was unplayable for some reason) and got it for...*drumroll*...$15! I had a coronary when I spotted that price.
And Moulin Rouge? Warms my cuckles. :D

Reminds me I've got a $25 Best Buy card. I want to get something by Carly Simon, probably GH. Then I'll probably get a karaoke disc or something.

You can't go wrong with the Working Girl soundtrack, then. :woohoo: It's worth it just for Let the River Run. I *love* that song, especially the part where she sings:
The sky is the color of blue
You've never even seen
In the eyes of your lover

You truly are after my heart, I'm convinced.
 :wavey:
Where do you buy them online? I'm always looking for DVDs at cheap prices.

http://www.deepdiscountdvd.com is the cheapest place to get them anywhere and shipping is always free. Takes a good week for me to get them, but for the price, you can't beat it.
I get them for Half.com, too, but I've received some doozies in the past and I've left some atrocious feedback.
I used to find all the good codes for Columbia House so that I could join, get six DVDs for $3 and free shipping, buy three, cancel the account, and then rejoin.

The first time I bought form Half.com, I ordered two Madonna CDs and was sent two burned copies. F*ckers. I gave them hell until I got a refund.

I received a bootleg of Finding Neverland recently. They're "no longer a registered user."
OMG.........I am going crazy on that discounted DVD site. This is dangerous.
