I know this is sort of a tired subject in the media, but it seems this week it is finally coming to the Senate floor..and I know how opinionated some of you are, and would like your take on it..Maybe it's been commented on here, somewhere in some thread, but I don't see it..

What do you think of the idea of changing Senate rules to restrict use of this age old procedure?

Do you think the Democrats (and the one "independent") can get enough Republican votes from keeping it from passing?

Do you think Republicans are hypocritical to criticize it , when they have used it MANY times when they were the minority party?

Thoughts...rants..whatever

Republicans are hypocritical by nature, this is not surprising. I put nothing past them these days and I just sit back and watch them f*ck us over and milk us like cows. There will be a reckoning eventually and then they'll be shaking in their boots, mark my words. They want to stamp out everything that would provide the oppostional party a voice.

Yes the will be the minority again, and if they take it away--it will definetely come back and bite them...

There are a couple of republicans who dont believe this is a good idea actually, like Mccain said "we wont always be the majority"

Eh, McCain can blow me. He's too concerned with steroid use to be bothered with anything else and he's got the backbone of a jellyfish.

It's going to be years and years and years before we ever see a Democrat (or, oh my, a Green or Independent) in the White House. The Republicans have a well-oiled machine and the Democrats, bless their hearts, would lose a black basketball in a sterile white room. It's just that the longer the Rethugs are running this country, the harder it is for anyone else to get in there and do anything.

On another note, Air America is kicking ass and I'd like to extend my middle finger to all the Repuglican naysayers out there who said it would fail within in a year. How wrong they were! And a special shout out to my local girl Rachel Maddow, she's a fierce chick and her AAR show is just as good as her old one! Check her out if you haven't heard her, it's great that she's national now.

I personally think the Republicans will be able to get all the votes to pass this...and they will REGRET it someday...

They are all that way - the R's are just currently at issue. But, to rid the govt. of the balance of power which is achieved through the FB flies in the face of the FF's mandate for a balance of powers and the a$$hole R's know it. This is all about putting a theocrat in the USSC - nothing more.

I haven't been following incredibly closely, but I think it's a huge mistake to make filibusters not allowed. Huge. Ginormous. And yes, like Diss, I think they are just trying to change the rules when the rules don't suit them, like a bunch of three year old's playing tag.  "oh, wait, I'm not it because the tree is the new base, you can't tag me now" etc. If you see what I mean.

Honey, I am just so over this damn regime. I just cannot comprehend that people are so apathetic that they do not see what is going on here.
I was thinking about it this moning. This bastard and his henchmen are far worse than Nixon ever was. (You'll have to forgive me, I have a fixation with tricky Dick because he's a Capricorn and so am I. I'm also fixated on a few other famous Caps, like Elvis, Janis Joplin and Dolly Parton but I digress.)
We went down a slippery, slippery slope five years ago. The man who would be our rightful president is not.
We have become a truly fascist state. People who go to church are letting that and what they perceive to be a tax break cloud their vision. Not very Christian like behavior.
We cannot do away with the filibuster. The balance of power in our government is seriously out of whack.
When the White House press secretary tells journalists what to print, we've got a serious problem.
The last pope thought our president was the Anti Christ. Our current pope is a former Hitler youth.
We live in interesting times.
I can only hope the yin and yang of the universe takes care and things work themselves out.
You've got to believe it will be alright in the end. :)

Well I unfortunately think the Republicans will succeed on this, and it will be a big mistake in the future for them.... Cheney is already standing by waiting to break a tie....
You know I love how in the debate with Edwards he claimed he had never met Edwards until that night and the he is up in the Senate "most Tuesdays" -- you know I watch the Senate a lot on CSPAN, and I have NEVER seen Cheney there..but in fact Cheney is RARELY in the Senate presiding on Tuesdays, he is on Capitol Hill, but usually having lunch with republican friends...

I'm not so sure the Democrats will be able to win back a majority in Congress in the next few years, but it will happen eventually--and they will pay the price
