Has anyone had any luck in finding or recording the new Dreams remix that was played? I loved it and can't wait to hear a better quality version.
Also, did anyone else notice the amount of professional cameras that were set up? Is this something they do at every show or do you think it is a possiblity that the Vegas show(s) will be released?

I want the remix too - haven't heard if anyone recorded it at the show though.
And Mac records every single show, I assume Stevie must too (remember that kick-ass brief footage of the AHI benefit at the beginning of the DR doc? I was like "Dammit! She DOES record everything! Why can't we have it?!?!")
I don't see her releasing it, but I've been wrong before. (I know, that's a real shocker ;) )

The day I came back from Vegas, I sent John Kinney an e-mail asking if he'd be able to find out what the mix was and if it was available. He has yet to e-mail me back

SHE IS A FOOL if she does not release that for the Summer club crowd a la POTU - I think even without the Tracey Young connection, which she could still get or at least someone else and who knows who did that remix !!!!!!!!!

Jeez, I was just so excited waiting for Stevie to come out I hardly even heard this, both nites. I mean, I heard the new Stevie vocal and thought "cool" but I did not really hear the music for some reason. Too excited, I just get SO pumped when her show starts!

I loved it too... I couldn't determine at the time though if it was a remix with the old vocal... or new vocals... I've since figured it's got to be new vocals.
But it sounded really great I thought.

Hi Strand..it was cool meeting you.
You got it right. My other Stevie friends and I have discussed what it would be like to have a round-table discussion with Stevie or her people about the rights and wrongs of what is done for her career. From set choices, to demos, to recordings, to actual stage sets, to theatrics, etc. One doesn't have to be a professional in the industry sometimes to know right from wrong, good choices and bad.
We truly know what could be better for her than the people behind her - we're on the other side - listening and watching.
The "Dreams" remix would be an amazing summer single. She even does the high notes. We can only hope. If the "Very Best Of.." is still coming out, it should be put on there.
Hey strand - shoot me an email sometime:

Have a good summer folks. Hope to meet more of you at some of the shows!

Jeez, Bob, do you really think Stevie would appreciate having a bunch of fans not in the music business discussing the foibles of her career and how they could make her better? You're actually implying you, and everybody who might have a suggestion or two, know better than she does about how to manage her career or decide on a setlist. Don't get me wrong, I totally agree with everybody about her setlist and things she could do better, but I for one wouldn't dare suggest to her face how to "fix" her show. Didn't you see the the Destiny Rules documentary? She wasn't very cool about it when Lindsey Buckingham told her what to do with a song and she ****ing loves that guy! Are you really that secure in your position as a fan that you would suggest an intervention with like-minded friends about how to make her a better rock star?
Dude! You've got balls!

My sentiments exactly! The so called "professionals" that influence the decisions made by Stevie and Fleetwood Mac do nothing to serve them or their fans. I get the sense that most of the band is ambivilent!
I'm continually disappointed by the sub-par graphics, missed opportunities, lack of inspiration, and stagnent marketing efforts. The corporate people who manage their careers have strangled them, with absolutely no connection or interest in the fans, and thus have no idea what we want...and what we would buy.
Just look at all the great quality products/appearances put out by other bands. When you compare it to what what Stevie/Fleetwood Mac has put out..you realize we've been sold product that is somewhat pathetic and thoughtless. (I'm referencing CD art, Tour books, T-shirts singles (or lack there of), DVDs, redundancy etc..
Of course, with such little product (relatively), I am grateful for whatever we get from them. But most often I find myself thinking "This could be so much better if....."

Why do you people think Stevie has nothing to do with the decision making on all these things you're blaming record companies for? Her very own brother is the one responsible for all the crappy marketing material done for her recent solo albums and tours. The exception being the graphics for Trouble in Shangri-la, which was probably fully handled by Reprise. Do you think they have to twist her arm to let Chris Nicks come up with crappy ass t-shirts and tour books?
The fact that she wears platform reeboks with expensive silk chiffon skirts, should be testament enough to show she doesn't care how things look.

Have you ever heard of focus groups? Are you active in the business world? I don't mean to offend you if you are not, but focus groups are the way in which changes are made for the better in most companies and/or organizations - including the music business.
Just because somebody has several years of music business experience doesn't make them the be-all and end-all of an artist's success. I can name many talented people with awesome albums that will never see the light of day.
And yes, thank you, I do have balls. I have the balls to say what I believe.
I believe that Stevie is one of the greatest singer/songwriters that ever lived. BUT, she could be even bigger with the right backing. I know someone that used to work for her and really cared. He left because he said her people were "F'd" up.
And yes, Stevie herself could make some wiser decisions - you brought up the reboks. She could have comfortable custom soft boots made in a million colors that work with her dress. Why not? And yes, she could pay more attention to the merchandise. The back of the Vegas shirts looked like her tombstone. Come on!
It doesn't mean I don't love her. Everybody in my life knows she's extremely important to me. I have never said anything negative about her on this forum. People always get slammed for doing so. But I am a realist. I have been to over 70 Stevie/ Fmac shows and will continue to go, because she inspires me with her words. I got to personally thank her for that several times.
Thanks to those who understood my post. I still believe in what I said and I would be happy to partake in any forum at any time, with any group (are you listening Reprise?) to discuss what I believe would help Stevie and stop the slamming from the press, public and people alike on these very boards!

Bob, dude.
I take no offense to anything you said and fully understand the concept of focus groups. I'm a graphic designer and totally agree with you on every point about Stevie needing better management, representation, and marketing. My point is that as a fan, you and I have NO influence on Stevie's decision-making concerning her career. As far as Stevie's "F'd up people" are concerned, I seriously doubt they choose set lists, design stage shows or do any of the marketing. They're probably a bunch of yes-men draining her for every buck they can get. Her brother included. That's my guess.
If you think Stevie would ever consider sitting down in front of a focus group of fans who want to pick her songs, choose her outfits and show her how to shake it, you'd probably hurt her feelings less if you told her she was fat and needed a face-lift.

I thought that the remix was simply a sped up version of the original vocal - chipmunked within an inch of its life - with a generic gay dance backing track layered under it. But, I couldn't hear it very clearly in that place. Frankly, the sound left a little to be desired. That surprised me, considering that they spent a fortune building that place for Screechine.

I thought it was just sped up, too, but I still think it sounded pretty good. The backing was a few steps above generic gay dance backing, IMO. Anyway, I liked it fairly well, and just gave you fifty points for "Screechine".

It was amusing because it was a little unexpected. As far as the backing goes, I find it tough to differentiate between all those gay dance tracks. It's basically all the same program with 8 variations....hardly changed since Casio keyboards. Perhaps I am biased. I find dance music only slightly less annoying than rap.
And rap music makes ME want to shoot cops and treat women badly (even if the lyrics are miraculously NOT about those subjects), just because it is so annoying.
At least dance music has a melody and someone usually is actually singing.
Thanks for the points, Homegirl. What's my total now ? :woohoo:

I have heard enough dance music to recognize the programming, and to also recognize the almost instant headache creeping into my suffering gourd. But, I hardly hear it for more than a few minutes, up close anyway. I flee to the nearest smoking patio. Thank GOD I found a gay bar that plays rock and roll in Los Angeles. I can go out again !
I do like some of the dance stuff...some. Mostly the old stuff. The songs were written on real live instruments, then translated to technology. So there is actually a song structure and some movement in the composition. Yeah, I'm a music snob.
Did I lose points ? :wavey:
