Gold Dust Tour

I just saw my first EVER Stevie solo tour commercial. (I've seen FM concert commercials, just never solo Stevie...) They just announced the Houston solo date, and tickets go on sale this Saturday.

The commercial was a 15-second montage of clips from all her solo videos -- I think I saw a quick snip from every one, even SIAB, WLT, and Blue Denim.

The voiceover said something like, "Performing her hits with Fleetwood Mac as well as her solo career" plus the requisite "extraordinary voice" stuff. The sound clips played were from Dreams, Edge, Gypsy, Stand Back, and a few others.

The graphics were the exact same as the Vegas Dreams graphics, only with "Gold Dust Tour" replacing "Dreams".

It was quite impressive. :thumbsup:

Awesome... it's starting to materialize :thumbsup:. I don't mind the name of the tour, but I'm troubled by the fact that "the graphics were the exact same as the Vegas Dreams graphics." By that, do you mean they're using the same Trouble In Shangri-La era picture that was in all the Caesar's ads? Ugh. I don't understand. It's really unflattering, and it's 4 years old. They have a whole set of stunning new portraits that were shown on the video screens during Enchanted in Vegas, and yet they're not being used for promos or merchandise or anything. Please, somebody put those on the t-shirts & posters.

I honestly believe that Stevie herself really likes that picture and that is why it is still being used over and over again.. she does look about 30 years old in that pic in which she was 52 ;)

Cat...right now there are 25 dates, solo, being added after the ten with Don. Had he not pulled out..we would not be getting this Gold Dust Tour. I did hear she is NOT doing anything west of Phoenix.....

Oh and I think the promotors are the ones advertising this gig..not La Nicks. They wanna make their money back!

BTW.."Gold Dust Tour" sounds like something she thought of in 1.5 seconds. (sort of like everything else with this summer thing...not much effort)

Yup, exactly the same. Somehow I don't mind it animated on TV, though. Stevie kinda zooms to full-left-screen, and then the "Stevie Nicks" and "Gold Dust Tour" swoop in from the right. The fonts & everything are basically the same, altho "GDT" looks a little different than "Dreams", I think just because the letters are smaller. But it's a really colorful, good-looking and good-sounding spot.

But I agree about the picture. That one is 4 years old, minimum. I'll bet it was taken well before TISL came out. I've always wondered if Stevie has a Queen Elizabeth complex. :laugh:

By the way, I saw the commercial several times last night after I started this thread, and I've seen it at least 3 times today, on all sorts of different cable channels -- SciFi, ComedyCentral, MTV, VH1. The only other commercial I've seen more repetitions for is ... of course ... Star Wars. :rolleyes:

I think it is a dumb name for the tour because it is marketing nostalgia. Which I know is what this tour is all about, but still. Why not just call it an Evening with Stevie Nicks or if there's an opening act then Stevie Nicks in concert.

And I was sort of making a point with the 2-3 solo shows crack - I guess the sarcasm kinda fell flat. :sorry: Damn. But trust me - I'm THRILLED she is adding solo dates! I just want her to swing back my way, too! :nod:

By the way, have the 25 solo dates been confirmed and posted? I see only a total of 17 or 18 (including the Don ones) on Ticketmaster/Pollstar/Clear Channel. :shrug:
