View Full Version : Exchanges with Stevie from the stage

I haven't delved too deep into the Vegas threads but thought I'd start one of exchanges with Stevie for those lucky enough to get up to the stage for Edge of Seventeen.

On Tuesday night, I was able to hold her tiny hand. She gave me a big smile.

On Saturday night, I held her hand and told her something to the effect of "Thank you so much and I love you." She responded in her regal way "Okay" with a big smile. I was able to hold her hand twice.

My life is complete!

Great. Good for you. Mine is not.

JK - congrats, that really is great. I missed her by about 2 feet on Wed.

Spill it, guys! I know lots of you had the opportunity to hold her hand. I'm dying to hear about your experiences!

There was this little guy (like maybe 5'2" ) standing next to me at the about three people back from the lip of the stage. He had had cancer or some other disease, which was apparent by his look. When she came around for the hugs and at the suggestion of gldstwmn, I lifted him like five feet in the air and up and over the people in front of me. Stevie shook his hand and itnereacted with him and then looked at me and winkined and mouthed "thank you" or something like that. It was very cool and I am really happy for that guy, whomever he was, and I hope he is well.

Well, it was the right thing to do. I mean I compare that to some bitch suckerpunching me numerous times in the kidneys the next night all because I, who had tickets on the second row, got to the stage before she did. I mean is decency dead

It's too bad my bloody camera broke right away because I would have photographed this, although from the mezz. Still, you would be able to see what was happening. I could see everyone from up there but I forgot to bring my seating chart, doh! So the only person I found was you, thanks to your orange shirt. :D

Well, it was "cheap" and I was glad I remembered my binoculars! I was happy with my view, but it didn't sound right up there. The sound was much better on the floor, even way over to the side.

Oh really? I was on the side for opening night and found the sound muffled. On closing, the sound was way better. I was closer to centre. You'd think the sound would be great up there. I thought the Colliseum was supposed to be this state of the art concert hall where the sound was brilliant everywhere. Weird!

I am not sure they contemplated a rock and roll act like that  At least Ira and Faye Goldenwienthaul fresh from using their free buffet coupons could hear her while relaxing in their gold lame expandable waistline (it was a buffet after all) sweatsuits   They were, of course seated next to one of MANY tacky tacky tacky bachelorette parties we saw.

Tuesday night, she shook my hand, smiled, and said thank you to me.

Wednesday night I stood in between Alex and Pattie. The people behind me were shoving me into the stairs. She grabbed both my hands and said "are you OK? Be careful!" I think I replied back "I'm fine. I promise!" and she smiled at me and said something else and smiled again before walking away. Maybe Alex remembers but I have not a clue. The whole moment...scratch that...the whole trip, for that matter, was very surreal.

You know, just vaginas by themselves...not even belonging to any person in particular. Not all that exciting or disturbing to me.

Anyway, what I meant to say was that was a really nice thing you did for that guy at the concert, Jason.

I know! Amazing trip! I met you at the stage during the Tuesday show. You were standing right beside me. I had the mini stevie in my pocket. Ring a bell? What is your friend's name with the cute short hair that was standing beside you? She had some amazing exchanges with her! I remember her saying on Saturday night, Stevie asked her to come back stage! Wonder if she ever made it!

Yes! Mini-Stevie in your pocket! Kandace....she met Stevie in Dublin and Stevie did invite her backstage on Saturday night...apparently Cory Buckingham wouldn't take her back citing there were a lot of WB people back there or something. I'm still confused about it but she did have the opportunity to meet her before.

They'd met before (in Dublin) and she wanted for Kandace to come back and talk to her. Kandace went to several shows throughout Europe and the US and pretty much each time, she was front row so Stevie remembered and noticed her.

No Kidding! I had to literally hold on to Stevie's wrist so that I would not have fallen flat on my face! That was so sweet of you Jason! But you are so full of that southern hospitably. :D I had some rude fan in front of me at the end of the stage on Saturday. We had a slightly lame experience on Tuesday with some douche bag that said he paid a lot of money for his ticket and was all pissed that we were in front of him. He was really annoying about it. I tried to pretend he wasn't there. But he kept looking at me shaking his head like I was the biggest loser he'd ever seen. Little did he know, it was I who took her hand that night and it was he that spent the night sulking! Some people can be idiots! They have to know that during live concerts people are going to stand. And during a Stevie show, die hard fans are going to flood the stage! If they didn't get up to the stage in time, too damn bad! Wackos!

Thanks for making me tear up....dang your hyde. LOL That was sweet.

Kandace and Bryan (hi Bryan :wavey: ) are the sweetest people! The reason she met Stevie in Dublin is because (I hope I get this story correct) Stevie felt like she'd known/seen Kandace in a previous life. Kandace was at the Dallas and Woodlands shows near me last year. She asked Cory to take a shirt backstage (I believe it was the one she had on when she met her) and Cory did....that was sooooo sweet of her. :)

If I haven't said it enough, let me say, thanks for the ride! :wavey:

I went friday and saturday and got to the stage both nights. The first night I was in 2nd row, so it was easy, and the second night I was in 12th row and got up there easier than I thought I would. I passed many people with a look on theri face like, what the hell is going on??
Both times I got to get a hand squeeze from Stevie. ;) I was trying deperately to tell her that I was the one who sent her the comic book (that she adored by the way. If you want to know the whole story behind that, let me know), but she didn't hear me. She tried though, she turned her head to hear, but couldn't. :distress: It's ok though, cause I figuered that would happen. I noticed my hand was holding her arm and let go cause I didn't want her to think I was grabbing her or anything. I was like, hmmm...why am I feeling velvet?? Duh.
We ran into Al Ortiz 4 different times, and Brett Tuggle once. Both were very personable and cool. :D

Okay, I'll tell you then. (didn't want to bore anyone)

Last year I made a comic book (I do cartoons) spoofing the Destiny Rules VH1 special. It was 8 pages long, and I had it color copied and bound. I sent 4 copies to Stevie's assistant, asking her to please give one to each band member. About a month after that, I got an email from "Stevie". Rolling my eyes like, yeah-right, I opened the email. It said, "Jamie, Thank you for making me laugh! See you in June, 2nd Row! Love, Stevie Nicks" Of course when I got this I grilled anyone that knew about the book if they were F-ing with me. They weren't, and I was happy, but I still had my doubts. My doubts left me however a few months later, when a friend of mine who got backstage for a show in Philly took a copy of the book with her to have Stevie sign for me. My friend told me as soon as Stevie saw it, her face lit up and she said, "Oh my God, it's that comic book again! Bring it over here! You guys have to see this!" And she proceeded to go through each page, telling everyone the different parts that really made her laugh. :blob1: She thought at first that my friend was the artist, and was about to hug her, but my friend was honest and said she wasn't and that she just brought it to have signed for me. I have it today in a shadow box. It says, "Jamie- Much Love, Stevie Nicks" then, "Thanks you so much, Stevie" with the little heart with wings drawn on it. :p

So that's the story. Cool, huh?

She is very sweet, an excellent roomie and a ton of fun to drink with. :xoxo:

Thanks for making me tear up....dang your hyde. LOL That was sweet.

Kandace and Bryan (hi Bryan :wavey: ) are the sweetest people! The reason she met Stevie in Dublin is because (I hope I get this story correct) Stevie felt like she'd known/seen Kandace in a previous life. Kandace was at the Dallas and Woodlands shows near me last year. She asked Cory to take a shirt backstage (I believe it was the one she had on when she met her) and Cory did....that was sooooo sweet of her. :)

Perhaps she is uncomfortable with her personal business being spread all over the message boards? She does not post here....if she wanted to she could. She does not. I can only assume from that she is not comfortable sharing her story...probably partially because of the way she was treated by various board members.

Ok, I'm a little bit jealous... I've been to 9 of her solo shows, including one front row, and never had the chance to shake her hand. I think some fans are a bit whorey about the whole thing... give some of the rest of us a chance!! Just kidding... sort of. :)

I got to touch her and shake her hand for the first time on Friday night. It was so amazing! I couldn't believe it was real life.

First of all, I had an aisle seat in section 2 (which was to the side of the stage, but perfect for stage rushing!), row 3. The seat was great and I am glad I was off to the side and not in the center because no one in the center stood during the show. Everyone in section 2 and 6 off to the side of the stage stood though. You could tell which sections were free for the high rollers and which sections were full of us real fans. Did anyone else notice this?

So, the second I saw people heading towards the stage during How Still My Love I darted out of my seat like a bat out of hell. I was the first one up at the stage at my side. I still wasn't getting my hopes up about shaking her hand because who knew if she would come around and greet everyone? Lucky for me... she did!

By the middle of Edge of Seventeen I was literally squished into the side of the staircase. I couldn't adjust my body or anything, but it was okay! She started to make the rounds and started at the left side of the stage (I was all the way at the right side, so I didn't know whether she would make it around the whole stage). When she got towards our side of the stage it was crazy. I was screaming "I love you!!!" and got to touch her arm because she was too far away to shake her hand at the time.

Then she stood right in front of me, looking down and gave me the biggest smile I have ever received in my life. I will never forget that smile and how genuine it was. She shoke my hand and I screamed, "Oh My God I love you!!!" She laughed and said "I know, I know!"

Then she was on to the next person. It was the single best moment of my life!!! I can't believe how genuinely thrilled she is too meet all her fans at the end of the show. She is a real class act.

Oh, when the show was over someone overheard me talking about how I got to touch Stevie Nicks. He was like "OMG, you got to touch her... can I touch you?" So, I was like "Sure!" And he received some of her power through me I guess. LOL

Thanks, really. You looked great, too. I got down on Fri cause there was no security, but I should've gone earlier - I did come from the second Orchestra, though, so you can't say I wasn't committed...There was just no way I was going to shove through people, though, because, if I was up front, I would not have let anyone through unless they were crippled or something. I'm too short to have to let people in front of me, yet too tall for anyone to feel sorry for me and let me in front of them... :D You didn't look that tall when I met you. Maybe you were standing a step below me... :wavey:

There were some pigs around me on Saturday saying she was really hot. What a strange thing to say to refer to someone as graceful and elegant as Stevie Nicks. She isn't "hot", she's "beautiful". Hot cheapens her. One great thing about Friday's show is that it was silent during Beauty and the Beast. Saturday, people were really loud. I think Beauty and the Beast deserves the respect of silence.

I was at the stage during Beauty and the Beast on Friday and it was so amazing and heartbreaking I couldn't move. I practically fell over. I couldn't even clap after the song or anything because it was too moving and I was getting chills. I am so glad the people around me were not yelling or screaming during the song because it would have totally spoiled it. That song was so captivating. Worth the trip to Vegas alone. I still can't believe that that performance had that much of an impact on me where I almost collapsed because it was so heart breaking.

I remember this look on her face too and I was deeply touched as well. She adores her fans and is very giving in that way. I personally have never had the presence of mind to say a word to her the few times I have been lucky enough to be up front and I've only held her hands once, on Wed I sort of touched her arm which was still cool! In '98 for Enchanted in Phoenix she came to me first in the front row and took both of my hands and time stood still. It was amazing. Oh yeah, and I was on the same side as you were on Fri on Wed.

Cool, huh?
~Jamie

This is a GREAT story :D Good for you for doing this and I hope you get to talk to Stevie about it one day.

See, I became spellbound during Beauty and the Beast. I couldn't move and didn't even clap when the song was finished. I had to close my eyes and take it all in. It was too heart breaking for words.

What did you write on the card in the yorkie bag? That is so great you guys managaed to get that to her!

Great thread you guys!!! I loved reading all the front row stories. I was a lucky front row fan Aug 01 in Santa Barbara. And I was one of those ones who glazed over. There was no fighting or pushing. In fact, people were reluctant to go up, mostly cuz security didn't know what was going on. I had to coax my friend up with me. So when Stevie got to us, I pressed a beautiful pendant necklace into her hand (never got to actually "shake" her hand... boohoo) but she looked at the pendant and looked back at me and said "for me?! it's beautiful! thank you so much!" Well... I was so entranced, I didn't even realize she was talking to me... all I could do was stare. My friend told me afterwards what Stevie said. So, no, I never want to meet STevie in person... I'd make a total a*s out of myself! LOL!!

I sat in the mezz for 5/11 Vegas and didn't notice the sound being bad, although some of my AVI clips came out a bit funky, so maybe I just didn't notice at the time. It was interesting from that vantage point, watching the Edge walk. I was totally STUNNED to see fans kiss her. Here I thought she was kinda shy about "germs" cuz she catches bronchitis so easy. Maybe since it was only a 4 day stint she figured it was okay. We'll see on the next tour if the Edge walk will also include kisses. The light show was cool from way up. Couldn't see the shawl on the piano or the candelabra. Couldn't see the hand and facial movements during BATB, but did on FFG... make sure, make sure, make sure as she flung her arm out to the side.. that was cool.

Oh, man, can I ever relate. I had my Stevie experience last summer - I was front row, leaning on the stage, right at her feet. And she was shaking no hands. But after World Turning, I stuck out my hand as she was turning to walk back towards Mick and the drums, and she suddenly turned back around, walked STRAIGHT to me, and grasped my hand in her two hands. My first thought was (no word of a lie) "they're so tiny!" And all I manged to get out was "thank you." And she said "you are welcome" - looking me dead in the eye - but then she didn't let go. And what did I manage to spit out? "Thank you." AGAIN.

What a nerd.

But I can still remember the moment so crystal clearly. The rest of the venue and every person in it disappeared. She has a magical effect. (And man, were her hands ever TINY!!) :)

You know, though, a simple thank you can mean much more than any long winded statement. She knows "thank you" from her fans means more than a simple "thank you" like you might say to a waiter handing you a glass of iced tea! She knows! :D

Fantastic story by the way!

Her hands were so small, eh? Like tiny!!!

Ok, I'm a little bit jealous... I've been to 9 of her solo shows, including one front row, and never had the chance to shake her hand. I think some fans are a bit whorey about the whole thing... give some of the rest of us a chance!! Just kidding... sort of. :)

i'm one of those whores, i suppose... :woohoo:

i've been fortunate enough to touch Stevie's beautiful soft, supple hands on several occasions, the first time at Jones Beach in 1994 and the last time in Vegas on tuesday...

my greatest stage exchange, however, would have to be at the Jones Beach show in 2001... while she made her way around the stage during "Edge", I gave her this dancing Caddyshack gopher doll that i had dressed up in several shawls to make it look like her... she picked it up from my hands, showed it to the audience, and starting mimicking it and dancing like it...

i have that show on video and i watch it from time to time.. it was such an awesome experience to be able to give her something and have her "play with it" the way that she did.. i never would have expected that.. it was definately without a doubt, my greatest exchange with Stevie from the stage... :)

I was at the Saturday night show as well and it was by far the best Stevie solo show I've ever seen. I was lucky enough to stand be standing directly in front of her when they let the crowd rush the stage (I bet I was close to you Daniel!) All I heard was "go, go!" and I seriously had no idea they were going to let people do that. I made a mad dash and ended up with one foot on the stair (to keep my balance since I was sandwiched like a sardine) standing directly in front of her. I was totally in shock. I had no idea they were going to let us up! I could not even sing along to HSML because I was shocked to be looking into her eyes. I was mesmerized, in a trance. At one point the girl next to me asked me if I could move back and let her sister stand in my place. My reply - "sorry, but hell no". That was MY moment and no one was going to take it away.
It was all over when she grabbed my hands and kissed my thumb during Edge. *tears*. I've never met someone who looks so deeply into your eyes it's as if they can see your soul....Funny thing, I said the same thing as you - "I love you and thank you". What do you say at a moment like that? There is not enough time to really put thought into it. I wish I could have been more orignial but my main concern was getting to those hands!!

YAY!!!! I think "I love you and thank you" is the safe thing to say. She's gonna understand what you're saying. If you said some long declaration of your love, there is no way she'd have a clue what you were saying. You got a kiss on the thumb? If I were you, I would never wash my thumb again!

I remember her at the Dallas show! She has short, dark, brown hair right? She seemed very friendly when I spoke to you guys. That's cool that Stevie asked her to come backstage. Previous life? Wtf?!!?

I've given Stevie flowers and a letter before and I didn't get anything back. I didn't really expect anything back though.

In Vegas Tiff, Suze, Marissa, a few others, and I found this beaded bag with a Yorkie on it and it was so Stevie so we all chipped in and bought it for her. After the Wed show Tiff gave it to Sharon. Sharon later told Tiff that Stevie really liked it and was carrying all around so hopefully that's true.

I think she keeps the stuff she likes and gives the rest to charity - I remember reading that the flowers and stuffed animals go. I also know she has brought them herself to charities, but that is not really public knowledge.

Ok question - I got to shake her hands Sat night during Edge and when I turned around to the other people standing around me and said "OMG she kissed my thumb I can't believe I touched her!!" one of the ladies said to me, "Yeah, she always goes for the young ones". Well I have never heard that before. I'm 28 but people tell me I look in my early twenties. Any thoughts on this? Do you think she does reach for her younger fans?

Absolutely. If I wasn't standing next to the two young young girls (6 or 7) at the SYW show in Cleveland last year, I wouldn't have got a hand shake either. They were small enough to sit on the stage and caught Stevie's eye during GYOW. She came over and gave them hand smacks. I yelled something to her and she just moved her hand over to mine and gave me and a few others a han shake. But if it wasn't for those girls, she wouldn't have....she rarely, if at all, shook hands on the SYW tour.

I saw her shake maybe 5 or 6 hands out of the 8 SYW shows I went too...So this is interesting. Why does she prefer the younger ones? After all the older ones have a lot of loyalty. I would want to shake everyone's, not just the young ones.

Well I'm only sixteen... I got to touch her, shake her hand, I told her I loved her and then she laughed and said "I know, I know!" She leaned all the way down and, like I said, we were practically doing eskimo kisses! I will never forget how genuine and big and bright her smile was. I think maybe she gives special attention to her very young fans because for many of us, we have missed out on her crazy Rock a Little days and she wants to give us some special moments to make up for the fact that we couldn't experience her back in the 70's and 80's. You know? Also, she maybe feels like younger fans need to be nurtured and (as she always says) she is like a mother to all of her fans. We are all her children.
