Well, my trip to Costco just now was virtually a waste of time.

No wild salmon, no interesting other fish (except for mahi-mahi, which was too expensive), no interesting other decent goodies to buy.

I wound up buying a large jar of sun-dried tomatoes in olive oil (lycopene), & a large bag of frozen blueberries/boysenberries/loganberries.

hmm...well that does sound rather uneventful

There is no Costco in Rochester - even if there were I'd not be a member as I have no reason to buy in bulk for myself :)

BUT - I did buy a full-size vaccuum cleaner today :blob1:

I've excited because it's the first one I've ever bought - and the dog hair was OUT OF CONTROL. Seriously. I can't remember the last time I prepared something to eat that didn't have dog hair in it - the little hand-held vac? not cutting it!

So today I have been vaccuuming like a mad woman - it's great!

**Goes off to reflect on complete lack of a life ** :p

I just came home from Sam's Club (isn't that a similar thing to Costco?). Not only did they almost kill me(gave me a sample of apple pie........after I finished, I kept coughing, more and more, for like 5 minutes....I FINALLY coughed up a small piece of PLASTIC that was in the pie! It was stuck in my throat! Geez!), but they always have these blue hairs working the exit doors, that have to put a yellow highliter mark on your receipt. Well, it was a young woman today, who was over carrying on a conversation. I wait for a few seconds, then gave up and left. She comes running after me, "Sir, I HAVE to put a mark on your receipt!". I told her she needs to quit talking, and start marking then!
Can someone point out the SIGNIFICANCE of a yellow highlite mark on your receipt???? I mean, you've GOT your f*cking receipt!!!!! I want to know what the damned deal with this mark is, as you often have to wait in line just to GET your yellow mark. And yes, it's ALWAYS a yellow mark.
Anyone?

The above is why I HATE Walmart (who own Sam's also).

The above is why I HATE Walmart (who own Sam's also). That's the first I've heard of the yellow mark nonsense. I know that at some Wal-Marts, they insist on looking at your receipt before you leave. That's almost as annoying.

But what's a "blue hair"? I really don't know.

A blue hair is an old person :)

And they don't yellow mark at Hell-Mart - but they insist upon it at Sams - I can't explain it either....

When my sister was a Costco member - they also had to yellow mark her receipt on the way out...I guess to make sure you actually paid and aren't takign more than you paid for?? I don't really know -

What I can't STAND is when you have to wait in line to leave, AFTER you've paid. Ooops, can't leave without my yellow mark!!! F*CKING idiot Walmart policies.

How much is Costco membership? Sam's is $35/year, for a non-business sponsered one. It really wasn't worth the $35, UNTIL my Sam's put in gas out front last year. They're regularly a nickel less a gallon than the competition. I own a U-haul for work, which gets 5.5 mpg! Last month, my gas expenditures on my credit card were $270(god, that hurts to type!). I figure I'm saving double or triple the $35 membership fee now.

You went to Costco on a Sunday?! Are you INSANE? :eek:I'll tell ya, KG. There were more people there than I thought lived in this area. Everyone kept locking carts.

The problem is that the Costco carts are about 5 inches longer & 4 inches wider than the average grocery store cart. It was like the bumper cars attraction at the carnival there today.

But I saw one of those cheapy Yamaha YSD electric pianos for sale, so I beelined for it like a. . . well, like a bee toward nectar. For about five minutes, the people shopping on that aisle were regaled with the "Smile at You" demo followed by "Holiday Road."

It's $40, I think. They pay their employees a living wage, whereas Sam's doesn't.
Costco also sells discount gas and I got an excellent deal on Michelin tires for my duaghter's car. I got a pretty good deal on an iPod, too.

Do you have to order these coffins? Because I've been there many times (I went yesterday in fact) and didn't see any. There was plenty of old rude blue hairs there that could probably use one though.

And what the Hell are you supposed to DO with the coffin? Store it in your living room? I guess when Grandma kicks the bucket, you borrow your neighbor's pickup and drive down to Costco, then drive her casket across town to the mortuary. I mean, I like saving money, but geez........

I guess you could always do what Kiss suggested when they released a coffin- use it as a cooler until the big day.

And it would be nice for Halloween parties.....
And when you have company, and the couch is already taken.....
And when killers break into your house, you could pretend.......
I'll stop now. ;) :wavey:

It's a great place to get toilet paper, paper plates, paper towels, paper cups (for parties or single people. LOL), cleaning supplies, things that won't go bad. I hate going to Wal-Mart/Sam's too, but we get stuff like dog food and those things I mentioned above because it's cheaper.

These days, I don't like leaving the house, period. LOL Unless I'm going on vacation. Hehe.

What! Where? That's so weird. "Hmm, I need to pick up a 10 gallon jar of mayonnaise, a giant box of Wheaties, and a coffin."

I like Costco, but then I'm a fan of any store that has free sample people on the end of every aisle. And I too love mahi-mahi .
