So - there I am at lunch and after witnessing a fight break out in line at one place, leaving another becuase three Mexican women cut directly in front of me and then proceeded to place like 19 orders and they spoke no English - I went to another place to get my Diet Coke. Well, the a$$hole in front of me is on his MOTHER F*C*ING cell phone talking about the weekend. So, I said to him "Excuse me sir, but if you stopped talking on you cell phone, maybe you could order and quit holding up the NINE people in line behind you  " -- Like most cell phone users he could not possibly see that he had been rude and proceeded to pick a fight with me. I just sort of moved past him (while he was still on the phone mind you  ) - and placed my order and left.

I swear - what is it with people who think that the world can just wait for them while they do everything else but what they are there to do

VENT VENT VENT!!!!!!

If I'm serving a customer, the amount of assholes that take a call when you are trying to serve them or ask for payment and they either ignore you or don't have the manners to at least say excuse me! Arrrggghhhhh!!

I feel like saying "f**k off outside with that please and come back when you're finished!"

I disagree with the experts and think that cell phone use really does decrease brain cell efficiency..

I work for a cell phone company, and I hate them too. Probably because I'm required to have mine on 24/7, and answer it no matter where I am or what I'm doing... :distress: I promise I do my best to be considerate though...

ITA.

Isn't it funny how just a few years ago most people didn't have one? Now we can't live without them! I swear, if I get behind one more asshole doing 50 in the left lane on the interstate, chatting away on his/her cell phone, I'm gonna go ballistic!! Sheez!

This lady at the grocey store in line in front of me a few years ago just could be bothered to pay for her stuff or pay any attention to anything the cashier was saying. After a minute of so of that crap, I grabbed her cell, slammed it shut, and screamed at her PLAN YOUR FUC*(NG WEEKEND ON YOUR OWN TIME  - once again, she could not imagine why I did that or why the five or so people in line behind me were applauding

Oh, and my dad works for Cingular, and has since they were "Bellsouth Mobility." So...since they paid for my tuition ;) guess I'd better not be too harsh.

But people, please, use some manners, 'k?

Ack! You said the dreaded "C" word!!!

You're dad must have better luck than I do. I've been here 5+ years and they still can't get my paycheck right...

You? Are my hero

I HATE HATE HATE the way people are using cell phones today. Cell phones have totally made for the "rudening" of America - though I hear it's bad in other countries too...

I use discretion with mine - don't enjoy blabbing about in public etc....And why oh why do people have to talk twice as loud on cellphones than they normally do???

Don't know any details about his check, I just know he gets paid

He's a field engineer (one of the first in the area), so he's one of the older guys with lots of experience who gets called out to "fix" stuff all the time. No tellin' if he's ever been paid what he's worth to them, honestly.

Most people with cellphones make me wanna hurt people. I don't have one, but my dad does and he only uses it to call my grandmother and for emergencies. Same with my mom, emergencies only.

I did have a pay-as-you-go phone in England, and it was WAY cheaper to call my parents/have them call me using 10-10-987.

WTH do lil 12 year olds have cell phones?

Remember they used to be called car phones and they were HUGE! LOL My uncle had one of those gigantic ones back in the day, and we thought that was the greatest thing ever...now, people abuse them. Get off the damn phone and drive/listen to me/order your friggin' meal/etc.

For real! I nearly rolled earlier this year when I flipped through my daughter's elementary school handbook and there was a rule listed about not bringing your cell phone to school! They have to have a rule now! :p

Haha, yeah, I had one of those "bag" phones in my car when travelling back and forth to school, and needless to say, I didn't tuck it in my purse or pocket every time I got out of the car!

I think it's safe to say NO ONE in this company is paid what they're worth. Unless you're one of the evil "men behind the curtain", as I like to call them... :)

But you can tell him we all appreciate the job our field engineers do. Without them, all the shady sales people would have no one pin the blame on when angry customers bitch about lack of coverage... ;)

You're right; if he's a veteran, he's probably used to being screwed over.... :p

But don't pay me any attention, I'm just bitter cuz I've been waiting for my pink slip ever since the AT&T acquisition...

 I don't have, don't want one. I put them on the same plane as pagers. Unless your a emergency career type or on the road alot (say a salesperson) You shouldn't have one! I just don't see the need.

I feel for you Jason, I would have totally flipped out. Good for you for speaking up :)

What I REALLY hate about cell phones is when people feel the need to let everyone within a mile radius hear the conversation by talking so damn loudly! Are we supposed to be impressed?

Is is illegal in some states Lux, but it doesn't deter people from using them anyway.I really think the diagnostic and statistical manual of mental disorders needs to have a new classification called advanced cell phone psychosis.A disorder that people feel gives them carte blanche to be utterly rude and oblivious jerks.I have no problem with rolling my window down in traffic and yelling out to a victim of the disorder "Get off the phone and drive!'In fact I just did that yesterday.I have seen people with this disorder manifesting it in stores,my chiropracter's, office at the gym while sitting on exercise equiptment, and one at a University library while I was doing research on a computer.I don't own one now ,never have and feel if I can go through the rest of my life without one I'll consider myself blessed.

About a year ago, in Nashville, a woman walked RIGHT in front of my moving truck. I nearly missed her. She hadn't a clue I'd almost tagged her! I rolled down the window and yelled, "you need to get your ass off the phone, and pay attention!". A couple, on the sidewalk, applauded me. It was a nice moment of cell phone revenge.
I turn mine on ONLY when absolutely necessary.

Ugh -that's annoying......all these stories of wonderful cell phone revenge - and then people applauding....who the hell ARE these jerks who are still a$$holes on cell phones???

I keep mine on silent pretty much all the time....unless I'm at home - where it's just me and I won't be alienated everyone....:D

I have a cell phone and I wouldn't be able to live without it! I think I got one when I was a freshman in High School and I'm now a Junior. My parents got it for me just so they can keep track of me wherever I go, and they don't have to worry. I think I text message more people than talk to people on it. I don't drive or anything, so I can't really get yelled at for talking and driving at the same time! It's funny to see kids my age try and drive with cell phones, that's how they always get into accidents!

I use my cell phone to play Snood. And to dance whenever it rings to my ringtone of "The Final Countdown" by Europe. I think the only annoying behavior I have with my phone is that if I accidentally forget, and it's not on silent and it rings when I'm in a store or something, instead of silencing it immediately or turning it off, I let it play so I can dance.

I think camera phones are annoying (even though I have one too- hee). I went to U2 on Tuesday night (again tonight- woot!) and was absolutely amazed at the sheer number of camera phones being used. Their glow has now officially replaced the lighter.

Text messaging is becoming a nuisance too though!!

I think it's just rude when kids in school text message rather than pay attentiong to what's going on.....my biggest pet peeve in college were the jerks who would sit in class and do nothing but text messag e- then ask the prof. to repeat things etc...

AND text messaging IS distracting too..in a quiet room - you can hear the keys and hear the beeps or whatever when the people get messages...urg.

---

And believe me - you could live without your cell phone - people lived just fine before they were so prevelant - I don't know how but that's what I've heard ;)

I work at Starbucks, and I can't even tell you how many times a day that someone on their cell phone will get to the front of the line to order and will make ME wait because they have to finish their conversation. One lady the other day actually had the nerve to hold her finger up to me to shut me up when I asked her what she'd like to drink, and said to the person on her phone "I'm sorry," and then finally gave me her order. The other baristas and I were just like EWWW. That is gross behavior.

That's all I do is sit and text message, but I don't ask my teachers to repeat what they just said. I can listen at the same time. All the kids at school have cell phones, I always see kids text messaging. If kids don't want to pay attention in school and just text message, well that's their choice. I've never gotten my phone taken away, though. I know how to hide it. :)

Okay, so I'm sure I could live without it, but it would be difficult. If I never had one, then I would never know how it felt to have one, so I would be fine. It would just be harder since I've had one for a few years, so it would be strange.

Child - I would have to have come across that counter

AND - if you had tried to wait on the person behind she, she would have pitched a fit
