This looks like BS because that doesn't look like his usual drawings. They are usually not as normal as that. Great photo of Liddy though.

$1500! I'd want it sent back to Lindsey for him to finish off, first! :p

<b>"The unfinished hand holding the ring at the bottom of the drawing is not filled in because Lindsey had to stop work on it to leave for that night's concert performance."</b>
That part of the description made me laugh.

What has she done with her life post-LB? Anyone know? I've only read interviews that mention her in the past tense. For a while, I figured she just died or something.

Well...wouldn't you think she had all this stuff to peddle cause she lived with him for eight years??? I swear they must have had some sort of confidentiality agreement that ended in recent years...which is why she tried to write her tell all etc. I guess she just saved up drawings and papers and stuff and realized she could make a boatload selling it to fans. Apparently she has zero loyalty and needs money. Sad. I do like this drawing though. We should save it to the various sites that have his doodling etc.

oh my.
This was funny too:
"There are a few small tears at the top of the drawing which were caused when Lindsey tore it from his sketch pad."
oh wait ... lol ... I was reading it as in crying tears ... I thought he shed some tears when he tore it off his sketch pad. Duh !!
Well, I didn't even know that Lindsey drew. I thought Stevie was the artist.
Too pricey for me!

I can't seem to picture him sitting down with a sketch pad. He's more likely to sit down and mess around with the guitar and create things in his spare time that way, I would think. But what do I know?

I think it's a great drawing. I had no idea he was so multi-talented. Too expensive, though. And who is Carol Ann, by the way? And please don't laugh if it's some significant Fleetwood Mac person I was supposed to be aware of. I'm getting there. ;)

An ex of Lindsey's from the early 80s..ish?
Did anyone else get an email back from her?
I emailed her and she replied. It's really weird getting an email in your inbox that says Carol Harris...

If you don't mind sharing with us, what did she say? If not, that's cool.
Well, I hate to break people's privacy and it's not very interesting at all, but I asked her why she would sell something like that. And she said that she wanted to offer the online FM community some of the treasures she has kept all this time. And that she got so many wonderful messages. ;-)
It sounded like maybe it wasn't the complete truth. ;-)
An ex-girlfriend. Should have known. But she's a bit pricey, my gawd. That's not an offer, that's like straight-up robbery...not that Lindsay's art work isn't highly valuable but still...
What's with all these ex-significant other's cashing in on their famous formers? For example, this year marks the 25th anniversary of John Lennon's death and (from what I've read/heard) his ex-wife, ex-girlfriend, widow, and former housekeeper all have books coming out on their memories of him. I think it will be the the ex-wife and ex-girlfriend's second book and Yoko's 789000873th.
So much for keeping things sacred.

Lindsey does like to draw
1500 is a ridiculous price though! Maybe if it was by somebody dead, like John Lennon...
Actually that would probably go for 15,000. But still, 1500 is too much I think. Especially for something we have no way of knowing is genuine!

So it is Carol Ann? How sad.
When she downright accused Lindsey of hurting her and beating her and losing his temper I lost any respect I may have had for her because she was Lindseys girlfriend. I mean really.
Now, I'm sure he doesn't even think of her. She can't stand that it goes from Stevie to Kristen and all the other girls are just forgotten. She was a messed up thing who cheated on him ( with Dennis Wilson, right?) and then became a drug addict. No wonder he left and went "insane".
Really, he was only with her to get over Stevie. She DID look like Stevie. I'm sure she worshipped him and at the time he needed that for his ego and I'm sure they didn't connect on any deeper level.
It's just sad she can't let it go and stop selling his ****.

This might sound strange coming from me but I just hate to be so judgmental of Carol Ann. I'm sure Lindsey did lose his temper and was at least verbally abusive with her. These were his "angry" years where he acted out a lot. I also got the impression from Lindsey's BTM and a 1984 RS article that she was messed up because of buying into the "fast life" of cocaine and promiscuity. It sounded like he even blamed himself a bit. When someone is a cokehead, cheating is par for the course (it occured after she became addicted, not before), and unfortunately at the time that's what she became. Hopefully she's cleaned up now, though. Remember even Stevie was a cokehead at one time.
And frankly since she got an entire album dedicated to her she'll never be completely forgotten. It's poor Cheri who has that curse. Look at his BTM - Carol Ann got a whole segment. Cheri's named wasn't even mentioned. She's the "Time" album of Lindsey's relationships. lol
And who knows, maybe if you were in dire financial straits and were dumped by a famous guy, you might not be so adverse to selling some of his things to pay the rent.

I know next to nothing about her and don't have an opinion on her one way or the other, I just find her constant hocking of his personal stuff on eBay to be the epitome of tackiness. Last year she sold one of his old checkbooks and a stack of old bills, for cripes sake.

Regardless of opinions about the decency of making money off of an ex, what do you mean by that?
I believe she's referring to the Geraldo show that she guested on where she said Lindsey was abusive. It gels with other stuff that's been said about him, but I certainly wouldn't take anything she says at face value.

True, she obviously has not made good financial choices, lol.
Checkbook and old bills is bad. I guess it could be worse, though. I mean locks of hair, old underwear, used deodorant containers, half-eaten sandwiches...at least she kept it nice and boring.
Unless of course there were other, more pitiful, stuff.

Not-so-brief summary, relying heavily on the Rolling Stone 1984 article:
Lindsey met Carol Ann in 1977, fresh off of his breakup with Stevie. In fact I believe it was about six months after the breakup that he picked her up. From a 1982 interview in People:
“Oklahoma-born Carol Harris, 28, [was] a part-time fashion model. They met in a Los Angeles recording studio in 1976 where Carol was a receptionist, and they moved in together the following year.”
From Rolling Stone, 1984:
“An attractive blond who grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Harris was a twenty-three-year-old receptionist at Producer's Workshop, a Hollywood recording studio, when Buckingham met her while recording Rumours in 1977. ‘At first, she was just another conquest,’ he says, sipping a light beer. ‘And then later, obviously not.’"
[....]
"I had been in Europe, and it was my first day back at work," says Harris in a separate interview, recalling how they met. "I walked in and saw Lindsey and that was it."
Lindsey brought Carol Ann on the Rumours tour; she’s attached to his hip in the Rumours Japan backstage tapes. She comes off as rather clingy. She also comes off as being head over heels in love with Lindsey.
From RS:
“Buckingham and Harris kept to themselves. ‘We lived in seclusion a great deal of the time,’ she says. ‘Even on the road, when everyone would be out partying, Lindsey and I would close ourselves off and be together. He needs a lot of peace and quiet.’”
“But living with a rock star who spent so much of his time in the studio became difficult – especially for a woman who didn't have a life of her own. ‘It was very lonely,’ says Harris. ‘I think I lived my life for Lindsey. I really felt it was important for me to be there for him, whether or not he was there physically, but for him to know I was there at home. He needed me there emotionally. It was rough. I don't think I can remember relaxing the whole time I was with him.’”
[....]
“Friends say the relationship was an intense one. The two were inseparable, and as Fleetwood Mac producer Richard Dashut, a close friend of Lindsey's for over ten years, puts it, "They were both very much in love. They saw things in a very serious way. I can't say either one of them had a real sense of humor together. For the first two or three years they were very, very happy and very close. In fact, I think that was one of the happiest times in his life."
Unfortunately, she become involved in other things, too – and they didn’t have much to do with seclusion and peace and quiet.
Again to RS 1984:
“Life in the rock & roll fast lane also took its toll. There were ‘personal problems’ that neither Harris nor Buckingham will talk about. There were drugs, especially cocaine. ‘That was a problem,’ admits Harris. ‘For him, too. It's very easy to get lost, and I'm sure I did. But I'm in much better shape now than I've ever been. And I still like cocaine. I must admit to that vice.’ (Buckingham says cocaine was never a problem for him.)
‘She was a sweet young girl, very pleasant,’ recalls Lindsey's brother Jeff. ‘But she changed to a music [scene]-hardened, drug-hardened person. It just wasn't the same.’
‘Probably, if I had known what I was getting into, I would have thought twice about it,’ says Harris. ‘That was right before Rumours broke. So when I met him, it was entering a world that was, to say the least, a little bit hard-core. But I fell in love with him. I had no choice. It's not a life I would have chosen for myself. Thinking back, I've been through the worst of times and the best of times. But it is a very rough world. Especially at the top. A lot of people are changed by it, not in a good way. It leaves a lot of victims. A lot of it's not very pretty. It's easy to get very cut off from reality. Trying to keep one foot in the real world and one foot in the rock & roll world is not easy.’"
"’She got pulled into this whole little world that maybe she wasn't ready for,’ agrees Lindsey. ‘She's a girl from a small town who found herself in a world of people who were not particularly responsible.’ He is silent for a few moments. ‘I don't really want to talk about that. I don't think it would be very fair. I think it would hurt her.’
Despite the problems, Lindsey professed in interviews to be very serious about his relationship with Carol Ann. He said that one of the reasons for the title “Law and Order” was to demonstrate that things like relationships weren’t disposable and people should try hard to make them work.
From a 1982 interview:
“Everything seems so disposable today. If you're in a relationship and it starts confronting you with any sort of pain, you just chuck it - most people these days just move onto [sic] somebody else. I have been with the same girl for five years. And I have been faithful to her all that time. Can you believe that? I think it creates a deeper meaning for a relationship if you can do that; put all that energy into writing another song.”
It’s not a stretch to apply that to Carol Ann and see that they were already having issues. I think Lindsey tried hard to involve her in his “other life.” Besides taking her on tour, he wrote “Save Me a Place” for her and included her in the Tusk insert. He included her vocally on “It Was I” as well as in the video, and once again she appears in the album insert. The fact that he mentions her in several interviews promoting the album also seems to me to be gestures to try to make it work. He even considered marrying her, but he realized before it was too late what a big mistake that would be. Months later the relationship was crumbling to the degree that she cheated on him with Dennis Wilson. By the time the next solo album came around, Carol Ann’s mentions in interviews were of an entirely different nature. Go Insane was a documentation of the unravelling of the “happy couple” into dysfunction and misery.
Lindsey ended it like a gentleman. From RS 1984:
“About a year ago, after much soul-searching, they separated. Buckingham helped Harris move into a place of her own. She has been studying acting and, as she puts it, ‘finding myself.’ ‘It got to the point where she had to move out,’ he says quietly. ‘She's still not working. I'm still supporting her, for the time being. We worked out an agreement where I would sort of keep her afloat for a couple of years. I don't mind doing that.’"
The relationship lasted a total of six years. Carol Ann appears to have had a very hard time getting over Lindsey. She was calling him as late as 1992 and it was around that time that she appeared on "Geraldo" saying that after a concert, they got into an argument and he pulled the car over and started choking her, screaming “You’re all the same!” She also said that she still loved him, though. It almost seemed like a cry for his attention, although that’s just my speculation.
Lately, Carol Ann’s become more visible again. She appeared on the Health Network getting plastic surgery, she’s sold a great deal of miscellaneous items on Ebay, and she apparently had a book in the works, although it appears that’s been shelved.
And that’s all I know about Carol Ann Harris. :) here are a couple photos:

That pretty well describes them, Nancy. I feel sorry for Carol. I don't think she had much of a chance. She always seemed to be a very dependant type girl. He was good to her once he decided to get rid of her, but I don' think he was the best boyfriend for anyone during the 70's or 80's. When I heard about the car incident I believed it to a degree, especially the utterance he is said to have made. He obviously had issues, but the relationship worked for him until she cheated and got coked out. After that I'm sure he figured she was a lot like...nevermind.

I just think it was a cheap shot.

I agree. The Geraldo thing was tacky. So is her hawking his stuff on ebay. I give him credit for not talking trash about Carol, as he's also declined to do with Stevie. He's taken shots at her work, but never at her personally like so many others have. I still think Carol was in over her head from day one and never had a chance. His little deamon was probably always flaring up in their relationship so it was only a matter of time before she realized it was never going to go anywhere. She needed to find a life of her own. Sadly, she turned to drugs. That's what happens to lonely people in rocknroll with too much time on their hands.

She does look like Stevie. The similar use of phrases that made it into Stevie's songs is remarkable. "You're all the same?" Weird.
I don't fault her for what she's doing now. I think she was in way over her head. Some people never recover from experiences like that.

A lot of people thought the picture of Carol on Walter Egan's Not Shy album was Stevie.
I've argued with people over it who say it's Stevie because she sings on the album.

Not-so-brief summary, relying heavily on the Rolling Stone 1984 article:
Lindsey met Carol Ann in 1977, fresh off of his breakup with Stevie. In fact I believe it was about six months after the breakup that he picked her up. From a 1982 interview in People:

Thanks so much for the detailed write-up. That was very interesting. I felt like I learned some new things about Lindsey, given the fact I don't necessarily read too much about him. It seems that the Carol girl really did love him, but that whole rock and roll world is so out of my league. I have enough to deal with in my own relationship and it's fairly normal in comparison.
That's a little disturbing about the choking thing...I was watching Lindsey on that "Destiny Rules" DVD and he just SO does not look like someone who had/has aggressive tendencies...more docile if anything. But, hey, I don't live with him.
Thanks for the pics. She *kind of* looks like Stevie, but I think Stevie's more glamorous/pretty. My opinion. :)

I think they're referring to the way he acts on those DVDs/videos.
He're more whiny than frightening in the backstage footage. In fact sometimes he acts really sweet (like when he's at the piano). Onstage he looks fierce, but he's playing his heart out. And BTW he is SMOKIN' HOT.
Really? I wouldn't have guessed. I wouldn't think that people with tempers actually thrash people about while being filmed for documentary. I was just saying that they come in all forms.
True enough. But I am going strictly by superficial interpretation- which is the only thing I use when observing someone I really don't know personally. From what I saw of Lindsey on the surface level, he just seems kind of calm/laid-back.
Now, it could all be a facade and he could be a wild beast of a man, slapping people around and throwing punches at women left and right- but it doesn't look that way to me. His voice was really quiet and he just seemed like a person I would probably feel comfortable around.
You like playing devil's advocate, eh? (Not being cruelly sarcastic, I totally like it when people have different opinons than myself. Makes things more interesting.)

Lux...I don't disagree about him having a temper, seeing as there is enough written description to at least assume he has one, but it was just my observation of his behavior from that particular DVD, which is by the way the only Lindsey documentary-style thing I have to go by. I have no idea about this 1970s "Tusk" footage because, hey, I have never seen it...
So I am going to presume, because that's the only thing I can do concerning this topic, that he has somewhat "mellowed" with age. I don't know...Anyway, I think I am becoming repetitive with my explanation, so hopefully this will end the Lindsey=violent/non-violent? discussion. Honestly, I don't know enough to say more anyway. :)

I really appreciate the offer but I'm going to buy her CDs eventually so I'll get the music that way. I'm looking forward to collecting them, just as I've been doing with FM for almost two years now. The next one I'm going to get will probably be Stories from the City, Stories from the Sea, but I have to say that the next CD on my list of CDs to buy is Lindsey's Out of the Cradle, since I've deprived myself of Lindsey's solo material (except GOS) all this time and I need to finally buy one of them. Anyway, I'm rambling but the point is that it's really sweet of you to make the CDs but I'm planning to buy all of them. (Except maybe Is This Desire? because some say it's her worst and not worth it. I don't know). By the way, you've got to tell me what you thought about "Without You" and "Down Endless Street." I love them both so much, but I won't die if you don't like them, I promise. :)

Oh and Is This Desire became my fave PJ album last summer. It's a gorgeous piece of work, but it really takes time to grow on you because her stuff on there is quite dark. I woudn't pass it up, but you could make it one of your later purchases.

Her ridiculous and annoying display for the Warners execs (I would have reached for the duct tape, myself), her subtle yet still catty remarks about the mixing of her songs (which I found masterful in such a bitchy way, she gets props from me), her always having her staff around like she needed her ass wiped, etc. Homegirl is a diva, but so eccentric that she's likable. Yes, Krista, that was the part about Karen. Just the tone of her voice and the way she says it is so funny. like "Lindsey, you are such a whiny tool, why don't you shut it?" :laugh:Sometimes I like to watch just that scene. :woohoo:

That was hysterical. Another favorite moment was when Mick quipped that Lindsey had never lived in a two bedroom apartment.

But tell me about the warner's thing?
"I PRAY TO THE COMMERCIAL GODS!"

Gag me. She was such a tool in that segment, I would have picked up one of the demo tapes and thrown it at her if I had been Lindsey.

Whoops, sorry about the last, rather innappropriate comment.
H: "You know, I quite like like you......"
L: "I say, this weather is nice isn't it?"
I'm not particularly familiar with the homosexual lifestyle but I can pretend.Did you say the "l" word in relation to homosexuality? :distress: :p
Anyway, I just think you're really unique and appealing to me. And I love how blunt you are. And I want to convince you that you are significant! (Remember that debate?) No huge deal, like you don't have to go hide in a closet because some lesbian chick's after you. Don't worry. I won't show up at your doorstep. Not that I have the money for that plane ticket, anyway.

Is that what she said? Perhaps that was one of the parts where I thought she was practical, canny, and down to earth.... :D But, I, like everyone but Lindsey, don't have the luxury of being idealistic, so perhaps I identified.

Yes, indeed, it's a fine moment of Stevie cinema...

That was HILARIOUS. You could tell there was a lot of eye rolling about Lindsey during this whole thing. Poor guy. Just trying to have vision, but no....

Indeed. But as mentioned previously in other discussions, SYW probably would have sold the same number had it been released as a double album as Lindsey wanted.

That's probably true, I guess. I mean, I don't think the people who wanted it and bought it would have been dissuaded because it was 23 bucks rather than 15, or whatever. But everyone else seemed to think it would've sold less, including warners and the marketing people, so who knows? Although i tend to think these people are generally clueless...

What type of housing did they live in before FM? A one bedroom apartment? Her parents? His parents? I'm not sure.
Anyways, we ALL have whiney moments, don't we?

I just think their days of multi-platinum albums are over. The die-hards would purchase it regardless of album length, and IMO, the die-hards are who bought SYW.

I think they actually mentioned how to get young people to buy it and such, and I was thinking, [I]Only the old fans are going to buy it anyway![/I} (And by "old" I don't mean agewise but people who have been fans for years and such).

I'm confused again. It's one of my pet peeves, and a pet peeve of most gays I've met. Do you call heterosexuality a "lifestyle"? You know, it's one of those words we hate, since it really doesn't make any sense when applied to sexual orientation. A lifestyle is something you choose to live, right? And it's often used in a derogatory way. (sp?)
Shucks. I must warn that although perhaps unique, I'm also somewhat violently agressive and I sleep with my bunny. I'll have to ask my father first aswell. What about your bunny's ear, though? Whatever happened to him or her must've been traumatic.
Eh, asking parents first is overrated.

I liked how she was more down to earth about the marketing and stuff, though. I used to think she was, uh, less grounded, but that doc actually made me think she was more grounded and practical.
Demerits for you, girl! :p You can't be talking about that drivel she babbled about selling records to 10-27 year olds.
She had me with the part about people our age not being on the floor smoking dope or reading Billboard. I know for myself that's true.
She should have stopped talking after that. :sorry:

Nooooooooo. She said we have to sell to 10-27 year olds. Then a short time later you see the kiddie chorus ruining Say You Will. :(
She says that in the same scene as the statement I love about people our age not sitting on the floor anymore smoking dope and reading Billboard.
That statement is priceless...but then she keeps talking. Ugh! :]
