I've always wondered what the SAT is like. I had to take the ACT. It was boring and draining. I managed to do well on the Reading and English sections but not so well on the Science Reasoning, and pretty average on the Math.

Congrats! I never took the SAT; I did the ACT. I always wished I would have done the SATs, because the science reasoning on the ACT killed my score. I hate standardized tests.

I took psat when a softmore, so I hadn't had that much math, and I don't remember my actual numbers, but my percentiles were like, 95th percentile verbal, 78th math...

Just took them today like you. It was torture, my back hurt afterwards and yeah the actual tes was tough too considering I haven't taken Math in years.

I actually thought the ACT was a southern thing or something, since everyone everywhere else seems to talk about the SATs. So, what's the difference? Do some university's only accept the SAT? Anyway, I made a 25 on the ACT and I'm still beating myself up about it. My score would've been higher if I'd done better than a 19 in Math. I too hate standardized tests.

In IL, we took the ACTs. You could take the SAT if you were really dying to do so. But the colleges I applied to required the ACT.

I got a 20 on the science reasoning and a 21 on the math. :( I think my composite was a 25 as well. I was kind of pissed about it. The GRE knocked me into the next zip code.

oooh you kids all have to take the NEW SATs don't you? now it has three sections for a total possible score of 2400? that sucks....

i took the old regular SATs the morning of prom, with bronchitis so i was coughing and sniffling and sneezing all through the test... the kids around me were so annoyed- but nothing could be done... i was miserable... and NONE of us went out partying late after prom... we were so beat.... i still managed a 1290 though... 690 math and 600 verbal or something like that... then i took them again to see if i could do better- i was totally healthy- got enough sleep and then only got a 1220. go figure!

I took the SAT last month and just got the results. I got five hundred something on the math, five hundred something on the reading and six hundred something on the writing. I thought I did much better but oh well! Maybe I will take it again over the summer.

I hated the test though! It was ten sections long and took hours upon hours! I was ready to die! It sounds like you didn't enjoy it either!

I don't have to take it until next year so I'm sort of lucky I wasn't the guinea pig class.

On a side note, a junior in my school got a perfect score (2400).

I think everyone should post their SAT/ACT scores. Separate the wheat from the chaff. Start our own caste system.

yeah...uh, er...no....I saw that show first when I was pretty old. I was like..."man, this show is soooo crappy!" :sorry: But then, I didn't like Punky Brewster when I was 9, thought it was trite, badly written, and overwrought....so I'm probably...uh..."special"?
To be fair, I did like that show, with the magic cube girl..."Out of this world"? which was also really bad. I think, the more magic stuff a show has, the better I will like it...

1600 used to be a perfect score... i know one guy who got it... he was so socially inept he could barely talk... really... he muttered a lot.

if you fill your name/ addy all that info out correctly they automatically give you two hundred on each verbal and math i think... so as long as you can spell your name right you'll automatically at least get a 400 (on the old sat that is)

Once again to preface my responses, I rarely post and like to read mostly. But unfortunately standardized tests are near and (not so) dear to my heart. The SAT, took it twice...scored decently the first time...took it again for ****s and giggles and went went up 130 points, so I guess it was worth doing.

You think the SAT was bad, wait until you decide to do tests for grad school and beyond. Not sure how the GRE and LSAT are, but the MCAT SUCKED!!! It was 8 hours and exhausting. Thank God I did well enough to not have to take it more than once...I think I definitely would have gone insane after a second round of that. Then, to top that off, my Step 1 (first part of medical licensure) was at least 8 hours long as well and all on computer! That SUCKED so bad!!! Now I get to take Step 2 in September and I think that one is 10 hours...God help me. This is gonna be the test from HELL!!! I can't imagine trying to recall 3 years of med school "knowledge" for one test. Once that test is over, someone just needs to hook up an IV to me and pump the ethanol directly into my veins to save everyone time!

But, anyway, good luck to all of you suffering through the SATs. It's a stressful time in your life, and I'd like to say it really matters, but... I think unless you're trying to go to a really prestigious college, your score really doesn't matter except to make sure you score high enough for the minimum acceptance. (JMHO, of course) In fact, I'd say the PSAT might be more important so that you can get an awesome financial aid package if you're a national merit scholar.

Oh well, just my 2 cents...going back into lurkdom for a while. Just figured I'd post an additional opinion. Good luck to everyone taking tests in the near future (and beyond).

I took the SAT about five years ago and most of schools I was looking at required SAT scores and Three SAT II score (one of which had to be writing). I know nothing about the new SAT but am I to assume that it has just incorporated the SAT II writing into the general SAT?

I get a sore neck about 5 seconds into tests. I guess it's the tension/stress.

I took the ACT during school last week, it was nice getting out at like 11 :)

It's required to take the ACT for colleges in IL, but if you want to go to an out of state college, you have to take the SAT. I didn't take the SAT. I also took the PSAE, but I'm not really sure what that was for... :)

I took mine in the mid 70's when the scoring was different, and I was 97% for verbal and *gasp* 47% in math! Nowadays, I think my math score would be much higher since Ive filled in the gaps in my math knowledge

I'd like to take it again just for ****s and giggles.....

I took the LSAT and did VERY well in the reading/comprehension parts and not so well in the LOGIC and "puzzle" parts. again, a lack in my education, I avoided anything that smacked of math or logic when I was in college and as a result, had to go BACK and take a statistics class in preparation for my Masters degree.
let that be a lesson to ya: dont put off the stuff you dont like, sooner or later, you're going to have to take it! :o

In my part...which is Georgia. We have EOCT's and Finals. I dont think I take my next SAT until 11th grade. Although, the EOCT's are pretty similar to the SAT's

Good LUck for who has or is going to take it!!!!! :woohoo:

The only thing I really know about The New SATS™ is that the analogies are gone and in their place are essays that are "based on general knowledge." They probably changed the questions so they're more universal and not biased like people always complain, etc.

The SAT Reasoning test is Math & English, but there are.. other? SAT tests you can take that are called "Subejct Tests" or something that go into Science & History, I think.

Ryan would probably know more about this than I do, though. :P

I hate analogies. I could do anything on the English part, but analogies made me mad.
