A girl at school had one of her kittens here and I watched it while she went to class! I love animals and don't get to have any of my own so I was so psyched!!! Her name's Elly and she's sooooo adorable! These are pics of her playing around on my jeans.

Oh my god! There is nothing in the world cuter than that. I want one...
I was just reminiscing about when my cat was a kitten last night. I picked him, because he was soooo runty, and a little scraggle looking (sesly, he was like, 5 inches long) but the attendant was playing with him with a little toy, and he was growling at it!!!  "grrrrrr! grrrrrrr!!!" little five inch big growly butts....
You are so lucky right now to be watching that kitten....

I'm not a huge fan of cats either - mostly because I'm allergic - but I do think that they're really cute - unless, of course, they're peeing in my car or using my yard as a litter box :p

And yeah - that pic with the mug is SO cute!!

really? I usually think there is something strange about people who don't like cats. Unless they are allergic, but then they usually say "I'm allergic" not "I don't like cats"
Usually it's men who don't like them, and it seems it's usuallly because they want an animal that does what they say. Which reminds me a lot of men.

Cats love me though because I never try to call them or anything. They come right over.

I LOVE dogs...totally prefer them to cats....

My cat issues also come from the fact that for as long as I can remember my grandma would tell me that cats are evil and come from the devil - or that cats themselves are demons

Also - my grandpa used to sit on his back porch with a beer and a BB gun rifle...and he'd shoot at any cat that came into his yard....(it's HORRIBLE, I know....) But that's what I saw while being raised....so the first exposure I had to cats was awful....

Now I know that A) my grandma is nuts and B) my Grandpa is nuts. So I formulated my own cat opinions....unfortunately I am VERY allergic though :D

The ones I've been around avoid human contact. They hide and don't like to be touched. If I have a pet, I want it to interact with me.

Oh. I thought you said "they come right up to me" or something like that, guess I read wrong. Lots of cats like to be petted, by the way. So, that's one of your "many other reasons". I guess the rest are a secret? Or maybe there is so many it's hard to think of them? Thanks for sharing, I always wonder why people don't like cats. :wavey: It's usually "they don't come when I call them" or "They don't kiss my bun enough", something like that. And those are the most logical answers I've run in to!

My past dislike for cats stemmed from grandparents...

BUT I don't dislike or hate cats anymore- somewhere along the way I formulated my own opinions :p

This is common cat behavior. Eye contact is a sign of dominance so cats are more leary of people that look right at them. But if you don't make eye contact, they'll be "on your bun". I like "bun"

My Mufy LOVES attention. If you come to his house and don't pay attention to him he will swat you (with claws retracted though). He is mostly a real sweetie but you must be polite to the king to gain entrance! :D Then he's soft as buttah. He is constantly smothered with affection by me and my roommate.

I always felt the same way about cats, but I just got my kitty a week ago, and we're like best friends. He's so sweet. He cuddles with me, sleeps with me (demands his own pillow), follows me around... he even follows me into the bathroom. But he still wants his alone time sometimes, which is awesome.

That is sooo cute! Just darling. You got a good one, my kitty (one of them) is that way, too. He has a pillow right next to my head, as well. Okay, originally it was just an extra pillow that was there, but it quickly became his pillow. Even my less affectionate cats usually want to be in the same room with me. :D

The same with me I used to have a cat named Softy when I was young. I was allergic but not too bad to him. Now if I get anywhere near an animal I can't breathe at all.

Elly is so adorable! It makes me so sad becuase I love cats, too!

I think my mom thinks that, too, and I almost do. But I generally don't like people who don't like animals, anyway. Except if their reason is "they are dirty" - that's a whole nother category. I mean, they are added dirt in the house. But then I start thinking "is being really, really, clean more fun than having a pet?"

I'm shocked when I see it, cause even my grandma had a cat. Gato. And she's the most anally clean woman there ever was. "I used to iron your mom's underpants when she was little!!!!"  Oh, she had a dog, too, but it was always tied in the yard, chasing it's own tail. :distress: I didn't know that was bad when I was little, cause we didn't have a dog. it was a big yard, and a long chain, though.
