i wish there was an option for "straight femme who occasionally lusts over chicks but not in a slutty way"...
i read this grrreat article a few months back about the les-for-the-night trend, went something like "i didn't meet any hot guys tonight so i think i'll go tackle my friend sharon on the couch" and "after the guys left, we were so terribly alone so i molested jackie's boobs at the bar" - it was hilarious. i'm hoping that the poll data will be used for ledgie-match, where obsessed fans are matched up based on only two things: sexual preference and fave band member. well it sounded good to me!

It is its own phenomenon.... Dyke Drama.
I have so many lesbian friends (and ex-friends  ) that are consumed by it. One of my friends met a chick on a BBS who lived in Ohio and after a couple of weeks contact that chick actually moved out to LA and moved in with my friend. Well, a month later Miz Ohio was dumped, yet still co-habitating and my friend had now hooked up with another BBS'er, this time from Chicago (their relationship was "long-distance" oy...). So, Miz Ohio commiserated with certain parts of the circle. Over a short time, she had hooked up with one of them and WHOOSH- off they went and moved to New Mexico.
This whole thing happened over a period of about six or seven weeks. And, of course, their whole drama interacted with all the other localized dyke dramas to contribute to the WWDDW (world-wide-dyke-drama-net). I've always had the notion that if you know one lesbian, you can probably link to every other dyke in the world by three or four degrees of separation.
I love all my sisters of the rainbow flag, but all that drama can really tire you out!

BBS = bulletin board system ... like The Ledge, ya bonehead....
Nope, gay guys don't do the drama like Dyke Drama. Gay guys will sleep around, but there isn't this whole fascination with the intrigue of who did who and whatever- and then the whole "I hate So And So and I've dumped her and you're now my best friend until we hook up and then after I've dumped you So and So will now be my friend again and you won't" routine. And then three months later all of said contestants are buying into a room together at the the Desert Palms in Palm Springs for Dinah Shore weekend cuz they're too cheap to get their own room.
This is all in general, of course. Ya know- the "code" kinda thang. Occasionally, there are clusters of fags that develop the Dyke Drama. They are usually associated with people who need a crutch.... AA, NA, Metropolitan Community Church flocks- that sort of thing. It happens.

Gee, I have represented a number of gay men and women in protection from abuse actions in court (restraining order), and the men had much more of a "drama queen" mentality (no offense intended :) ) than the women. This is a really fun job when you have a conservative judge on the bench - NOT!!!

TOTALLY!! There are tons of gay male drama queens, hence the moniker. But that drama is different than the whole Dyke Drama stuff. I guess one has to experience it to get the "feel" of it, if ya know what I mean.

I get the sense (and correct me if I'm wrong, cause I'm kind of making it up) that perhaps, gay male stuff is presented more dramatically, But dyke drama is way more convoluted and intricate and personal. Ie, less flamboyant? (I didn't mean everyone, naturally.).

That's kinda basically it. Although, I personally am not a drama queen type of fag- but that's just me. But, I have known couple during my few hundred years here on earth.....

I love all my sisters of the rainbow flag, but all that drama can really tire you out! :laugh:I'm guessing you're being a little facetious about the three or four degrees of separation thing. Whatever the case, I can't stand all of that. Nothing is simple with women. Nothing is as it seems. You can never be certain who you're trusting. And not to mention the fact that I meet so few (okay, none at all) people who have a vested interest in waiting to have sex and not screwing multiple people. (Me and Deanna have talked about this on this forum before  ). I always hear girls talking about how men are so stupid and evil and I just want to say, "Lucky you--you're heterosexual!" Not only do I have to deal with how manipulative, hard to please, and irrational lots of women are, I see it more clearly than others because I am a woman and I can see it sometimes in myself, which, to me, is more frustrating. (Did y'all like that run-on?) I can spot it a mile away. I also feel like women are, by nature and/or because of society's idiocy, more insecure than men. People who carry particularly deep-seated insecurities have problems dealing with others because they don't know themselves and/or cannot be comfortable with themselves. That is almost always detrimental to a relationship unless it's magically fixed. In conclusion, it sucks to be a woman who loves women.
Are those enough sweeping generalizations for everyone? :wavey:

A little, but probably not as much as you're thinking.
Nothing is simple with women.
Truer words were never spoken. If I believed in a god, I would thank it every day for making me (#1) gay and (#2) male.
In conclusion, it sucks to be a woman who loves women.
