I LOVE it and always have. I always thought it was Stevie's best work, and was so happy recently to hear her say that it is her masterpiece. (Jim Ladd interview) there so many different sounds to this record. I NEVER get sick of it. :D

Yes!!
I'll tell you what's a lot cooler is your site. You have the top info for Stevie on that site. I mean, can you imagine the official site actually posting the PASSWORDS for ticket-buying for the upcoming Nicks/Henley concerts? You had those up, plus the tourdates & the links to articles & the probabilities & even some photos, in the time it took Nicks Fix to wonder whether to announce it at all.
There's just no comparison ... & there's no explanation for the continuing devotion to that place in some quarters, except perhaps nervous tic or habituation.

Loved it then, love it now. Still play it often. The only songs that I still don't care for are I Miss You and Everyday.

It continues to be my 2nd favorite Stevie album, behind Bella Donna. Quite often, I play Candlebright through Too Far From Texas, then skip to Fall From Grace.
TISL was extremely deserving of the overall very good critical praise it received, and I think it should have been nominated for a Grammy as best album.
That was an extremely crappy year for me personally and enjoying new solo material was one of the very few highlights. Seeing Stevie at the Masonic Auditorium for the KFOG Xmas concert (final TISL show) was another.

I still enjoy it. TISL is one of her best compositions ever. I still don't care for "That Made Me Stronger" and "Love Changes."

The NicksFix doesn't post ticket buying passwords as an effort to thwart scalpers.
And TISL is still the best Stevie solo album since Bella Donna!!

Definitely. It's been the first Stevie solo I've heard and I instantly loved it. It's my favourite followed by Belladonna.

I love it more.
I liked the entire album upon first listen, but one or two of the songs just didn't "speak" to me. But in the years since the album's release, I've had experiences similar to those spoken of in those few songs... "OOOOOHHHHHH. Now I get it!"

I find it to be more beautiful and more amazing now despite the fact that I loved it so much back when it was released. It truly is my favorite Stevie album. Creatively, she's at her peek with TISL....amazing songs, fine production. To me, she came back with a vengeance on this album. TISL blew me away. It's always going to be tops on my list. Not that I don't find her songs relatable but I feel on this album especially they were. Ahhh...I can't rave enough. Looking forward to some Sorcerer or Fall From Grace in Vegas

Yes. I still love it. I love the cover photo and all the colors in it.
I love Sorcerer and Candlebright and the title track and Planets. There's a lot to love there.
I guess I'm in the minority here, but I really liked it when it came out, but now, not so much. I don't think it holds up to Bella Donna, The Wild Heart, and even Rock a Little  The only songs that I *really* like on it are "I Miss You" and "Fall From Grace." I don't listen to it much anymore.

Well, anyone can get the password. You can get it if you register with the sites offering the presales. As far as the regular sales, scalpers run computer scripts to snap up any front seats the second they are released. The same is true for radio stations that offer "free prizes" through some promotion on their website, where listeners have the chance to win everything from tickets, CDs to iPods once they are released to the site. But people in the know have come up scripts there too to snap up those prizes the second they are released. Until the fans come up with a similar system, we will always lose out.

I didn't get it until May of 2003 when I first became a Stevie fan (my first Stevie purchase evah!!! <3), but I love it more than I did initially. At first, I liked only the first five tracks, but I love almost all of it now. I'm still blown away by the title track, and "Every Day" still makes me cry sometimes.

TROUBLE IN SHANGRI-LA continues to be in my top 5 CDs that rotate constantly in my Jeep. I never tire of the songs...it truly is her masterpiece and the timing of it's initial release seemed to be so perfect for so many.
It did well critically and commercially and I know that gave Stevie the pat on the back she needed at that point. :]
I look forward to hearing some of the Shangri-la songs in Vegas!!

oh TISL, my beloved disc...
love it as i always have, though i have made a few alterations to the track order:
TISL - love it, love singing it
Nomad - like the demo one bee-llion times more than Candlebright
Sorceror - don't like the song and theres way too much Crow, replace with My Heart
Planets - prefer the nine minute club mix
Everyday - one of my alltime faves, don't get why so many people hate it
TFFT - love it, would love it more if that Chick's part was sung by someone else
TMMS - hated it, still hate it
Only Love - blech, liked it more before i found out that Crow wrote it... is replaced by Space Needle on my playlist
Love Changes - appreciate the lyrics much more now vs. 4 years ago
I Miss You - love it, love it, love it
Bombay - uberblech, leave it off
FFG - great song, total ass-kicking rocker
Love Is - prefer the demo, more delicate, like the extra lyrics
yeah, i love this disc... i'm going to have a TISL listening party up in here, after i'm done listening to the contest submissions ;)

I love it more.
I liked it on first listen (back in May 2001), but it didn't "speak" to me at that point. It was only when I went back to it a few years later that it all suddenly made sense, and I just fell in love with many of the songs. I still cringe at TFFT and Everyday, and just can't bear TMMS. But at the other end, TISL, Nomad (Candlebright), Planets (sigh, Planets), FFG, and Love Is are among my all-time favourites.

As much as I've loved Bella Donna all these years, when TISL came out, it pretty much became my favorite Stevie album.
I had never heard "Candlebright" "Planets" or "Sorcerer" in demo form like alot of other fans, so it was all new music for me, and I am glad I waited.
I wish TISL had sold as much as Bella Donna, because it deserved to.
I love all the tracks except for "Too Far From Texas", and I can even get into that once in awhile.
My favorites are:
TISL
Candlebright
Sorcerer
Planets Of the Universe
I Miss You
Fall From Grace
Love Is

Her best album ever, with the best production she's ever had, thanks to Mr. John Shanks... Planets will forever be my favorite off that album and second favorite Stevie song ever... the extended version is just a masterpiece, imo..

TiSL is my favorite Stevie album...followed very closely by
Wild Heart. All of the songs have deep meaning to me. There is no doubt in my mind that the songs were carefully chosen and sequenced because of some underlying theme. (concept of shangrila...maintaining it)
TMMS is the only track I do not like and even that one has its place on the album....
For me all the songs tell a story, pretty much in order and the placement of TMMS in the running order is part of the theme. She starts out with the song, TISL...which is an overview of the concept of the album. Then the story starts with the BN songs, continuing into Planets, written during her breakup with LB. Shangrila is lost. When we get to TMMS the transition begins.... Stevie is again on her way up, reaching for shangrila again. She achieves it again perhaps personally, definately musically. Then it slips away again...Love Changes..I Miss You..FFG..Bombay..she is faced with difficult challenges and upsetting times in her life. She ends with Love Is...talking about what her concept of love is, how it feels perfect but when it is gone...she breaks down. All of this falls under her concept of achieving and maintaining her shangrila in her own life.
Fantastic album and truly her masterpiece. It is much deeper and intimate than BellaDonna, at least for me.

I've grown to listen to TISL more than any other Stevie Nicks solo album.
Plus, I seem to have the two songs that most people DON'T like on the album as my two faves from it: "Bombay Sapphires" & "That Made Me Stronger". (plus "Planets Of The Universe", too)

I completely agree. It has some truly amazing songs on it, but as a whole, it's pretty mediocre. I think it kind of falls apart after the first five tracks. Really bad sequencing.

I'm curious where that mysterious "Bombay Sapphires" outtake (http://www.stevie-nicks.info/index.php?option=content&task=view&id=218) came from. Could this track have come from the scrapped Dallas Austin sessions? It has so much more depth than the original and boasts such a great rumbling bassline throughout.

I've loved this album from the first listen, but that love has grown deeper over the last few years.
I had a "preview" disc that a dear friend sent to me a few weeks before the actual release, yet I was still at Circuit City on the morning of May 1st to get an official copy. Anne and I made a day of it... she bought a copy for herself, too, and I also picked up a copy of it for one of my aunts... we then drove all around, with the windows down, listening.
Of course, I had already listened to the album a few dozen times by that point, so it was fun to listen along with Anne as she "oohed" and "aahed" over certain songs, vocal moments, and various lyrics. I started turning her onto Fleetwood Mac/Stevie when 'The Dance' was released, but 'Shangri-La' sealed the deal.
For me, the lyrics have taken on an even deeper subtext since then, and they never fail to hit me where I live.
The production on one of Stevie's solo albums is unlikely to ever set the world on fire as far as inventiveness, but, for me, as much as deft studio wizardry entertains my ears, I have to be moved by the lyrics and vocals to really connect with a song/album. I always say it's because of my Italian blood.... we're people who wear our emotions on our sleeves and who follow our hearts. *lol*
So, to that end, my favorites would have to be the title track, "Planets Of The Universe" (which I love infinitely more than the old piano demo), "Love Changes," "I Miss You," "Bombay Sapphires," "Fall From Grace" and "Love Is" (the last five songs make up my favorite part of the album).
I also quite like "Every Day," "That Made Me Stronger" and "Too Far From Texas"... even though most people turn their noses up at them.
All in all, it's an amazing album... everything I could have hoped for and then some.

I wouldn't call it her masterpiece, but I like this album. And I love several songs especially Too Far From Texas, Shangri-La, Sorcerer, Planets, I Miss You Now, Love Is and most of all Fall From Grace. They are all magnificent. I also love Bombay Sapphire because Stevie had the balls to write a song about a bottle of gin and using it to forget your ex-boyfriend. And to think Christine calls her lyrics "obscure at best". Whatever.

Is there a "rumor rundown" anywhere of what was up with those DA sessions? What tracks were worked on, why she didn't ultimately use him as producer, etc...?
I heard about it through the Entertainment Weekly blurb (and saw that HILARIOUS caricature of her), but never anything else...
