Mine are:

I live in a really old building built in 1917 (I think). Three things have happened since I've lived here:
1) every few nights while I'm drifting off to sleep, someone sits on the foot of my bed. I try to move around to recreate the feeling of weight just in case it was me that caused it, but it feels totally like someone sat at the foot of my bed
2) my closet door opens by itself
3) I was dog sitting for my parents and the dog was all excited about something in the living room, like she was greeting someone and wanted to play with them. I was laying in bed and thought it was a bit odd. Then all of a sudden, she screamed, like literally screamed, and jumped into my bed and hid under the covers shaking. This other time, I was at my friend's place across the hall from me and she was barking and growling at the corner of my friend's bedroom.

These incidents seldom happen and when the person sits at the foot of my bed, it's never creepy. It just feels sort of comforting or something. Very non-threatening. The dog incidents were REALLY freaky though!

Anyone got any they wanna share?

I haven't, but when we lived in our apartment my husband used to have bad dreams about some guy (or some thing) chasing him. He used to get weird feelings, esp up in the attic (chills, hair standing up on his neck, feeling that someone was there, etc.) When we moved, the dreams stopped.

Since we moved into our house, he has seen a dark figure several times. Once he was walking by the spare bedroom & thought he saw a man standing in the room. He looked again & nothing. The scariest time was when we were sleeping on the futon in our basement (it was 90 degrees & we didn't have AC yet.) He woke up & there was a man sitting on a chair staring at us. He closed his eyes, opened them again & there was nobody there.

I would tend to think he was bull****ting, except that: a) he gets scared out of his mind, b) he is embarrassed to tell others cuz he's worried they'll think he's nuts, and c) we found out after the "sightings" started that the woman who we bought our home from had lived there alone for the last 25 years. Her husband had died of a heart attack snow blowing the driveway, in the 70's.

Yikes! That made me remember waking up in the night and looking by my door seeing a tall figure walking out of my bedroom! My door was locked and there was no one home with me! Nearly crapped myself!

I have!

The apartment we lived in when I was younger had a family of a father and his two sons living in it before us. The eldest son hanged himself in one of the bedrooms (never knew which one) when his father wanted to move out of state. My mother left me alone one night to attend a graduation ceremony and before she left, she closed her bedroom windows and her bedroom door. Her room was adjacent to the living room, which I stayed in to watch TV for a few hours after she had left and then went to the bathroom to get ready for bed. When I came out of the bathroom and back into the living room, her bedroom door was wide open, as were her bedroom windows. Scared the living **** out of me.

A bunch of other weird things happened over the course of the five years we lived there, like slamming doors and stuff like that. There was another time when I was putting dishes away from the dishwasher when I was alone and I went to get the mail, only to come back and find that the dishes I had already put away were back in the dishwasher. My downstairs neighbor and I were convinced that building was haunted by something, not necessarily the ghost of some kid. Absolutely convinced.

My sister also had an experience with dishes and perhaps ghosts...

we lived in this house when I was super small - like before I was 5 and one day my mom, dad and I went out - my sister stayed home - she was in 6th grade - and not allowed to use the oven.

Well being home alone she decided to make some cheese dip

Well she burned it - and the cheese was like baked to the bottom of the pot - she was going nuts trying to get it cleaned when she heard the car pull up - the pan was nowhere near clean - she ran to the window to see if the car was us - and it was ...

She ran back to the kitche and the pan was cleaned and put away - the water in the sink was gone etc...no signs of a cheese dip experiment gone wrong

Also in that house we'd hear footsteps all the time - and once in a while he's hear someone sit on the couch (it squeeked) - it was scary....I still remember some stuff at that house - even though we moved when I was 5

Interesting you guys mention dishes. About a month ago I was putting the dishes away. I had all the cupboards open, but I hadn't touched anything in this particular cupboard yet. A glass came flying out of it, bounced off the counter & fell on the floor. Weird.

That is so awesome! I was totally going to post that exact same thing until I read that you did already! Totally! To have a ghost that did the dusting every once and a while would be great. Instead, all I've got is some dink sitting on the end of my bed! I should tell him to get his fat ass off my bed and do some vacuuming the next time he's there!

I've got a ghoooooolish one that happened to my friend.

My friend was in bed drifting off to sleep when she felt someone spoon her in the night. But "it" was a small person because it's feet tucked into the back of her knees. She was comforted by it when it first happened and then she realized she was in bed alone and freaked out. You know when you're falling asleep you're dazed so maybe you wouldn't realize something f-ed up was happening. So... here comes the ghooooolish part... Go like this ----> Okay, so she shifts around and is laying on her back trying to sleep now and obviously a bit freaked out. A few minutes pass and all of a sudden she feels hands heavily climbing up her legs from her feet. She jumped out of bed and screams F**K OFF!!! "It" never came back!

Another friend was laying in bed on his back and something sat on his lap and actually began thrusting up and down causing him to get an erection!!! What the hell!!!!!

Apprently it is quite common for ghosts to behave sexually. Yikes! I guess, you'd be lookin' for some if you were stuck wandering around for hundreds of years with no action in site! Sounds kinda like me!

My brother was helping a buddy of his (who owned a bar/inn in the mountains--I think it was around Lake Tahoe) close up his bar one night. My brother went upstairs and started making sure the windows were all closed and locked for the night. He went room by room, down a long hallway. about midway, he passed thru this COLD spot but didnt think anything of it and finished closing/locking the rest of the windows/doors. As he finished at one end, and returned to where he started, he saw that a few of the first windows/doors were open and he KNEW he shut them. so he had to go back and do it all over again. pretty frustrating!

My daughter was with her husband in an building in Chico, I think it was the old Theater, and she was up in one of the balconies, when she experienced a COLD spot, and felt something brush against her leg. All of a sudden, she said she felt a small hand in hers! She then "saw" a young woman in a hoop skirt and wearing long over the elbow gloves (this was who was holding her hand).

I have another friend who used to own a historic home in downtown Martinez who said his house had several ghosts: At one time, his home used to be a Nunnery, but before that, it used to be a Boarding House in the Early part of the 20th century. apparently, there was a music teacher, and a young boy and the home owner himself who succumbed to the flu pandemic at the early part of the 1900's who still haunt the place. I stayed the night there one night but I was so freaked out that I got blotto so I wouldnt see any ghosties, and got SO sick but the weird thing is, it all ended up in the hood of my shirt, not a DROP on the pillow or sheets or anything....I musta done a Linda Blair in my sleep. its amazing I didnt die....to this day, I dont like wine.

well, now, I learned something! "spot barf" indeed! no my neck didnt hurt, it wasnt pea soup. But it was wet and ALL in my hair, completely contained within that hood, it didnt even leak onto the bed! I guess the ghosties were protecting their current owner's stuff! I have absolutely no memory of barfing.
I had a VERY hard time getting all the crap outa my hair tho....and the SMELL  :( btw: in case anyone wants to know, I think I drank 4 bottles of wine by myself that night....

anyway, I forgot to mention some of the things the ghosties DID do:
the little boy ghostie used to run up and down the staircase, and fiddled with the lighting. One year for Halloween, the lights kept flickering all night long! spooky! The music teacher ghost had dogs and my friend used to run a dalmation rescue and his dalmations REFUSED to go into the music teacher's old room. One time, my friend had company over for Christmas, and they spent the night and the next morning they were all awakened by the piano in the parlor...the company left in pretty short order! lessee......I think there were other stories but Ive forgotten them. He's since sold the house and he's talked with the new owner since, but not about ghosties, apparently the new owner isnt talking....

The BEST dream I ever had was a couple of years ago...

In the dream I opened an old book (that i really do have) and inside was a note. I opened the note, and as I read the note, I could hear my deceased father's voice reading aloud to me the words... "Don't ever think I am not always there with you."

does this count? i posted in a dream thread ways back...i felt very awake when i had it...there was a presence felt in the room and i could see veils of white (like a translucent cloud) near the ceiling...and the dream still "haunts" me

my gram lived in a beautiful old house with wood floors and ornate woodwork and draperies... all the good stuff. i'm too young to really remember, but she has told the story and many people have backed her up on it. she used to rock me to sleep in the front parlor and then carry me upstairs when i stayed with her. one night while my aunties were visiting, everyone was reading in the parlor while my gram was rocking me. apparently i was fussy that night and wouldn't quiet down. all of a sudden, a woman appears to be walking straight out of the wall towards my gram with her arms out. everyone freaks, everyone leaves, no one is calming down. now me personally, i never would have set a foot inside that house again. but they did  ...

so the crux of the story: they never saw the apparition again but they often heard footfalls on the back stairway, but the sounds would stop at the landing. as it turns out, one of gram's ancient neighbors was visiting one night when the footfalls began. she then told my gram all about the previous inhabitants of the house. a young woman had lost several children to sickness and while the house was quarantined, everyone stayed in the front parlor room. the other goosebumpy revelation was that the stairway used to open into the parlor, but at some point the owners decided to wall up the opening and have the stairs let out into the dining room. that's why the footfalls stopped at the landing and that's why the ghost appeared to come out of the wall.

freaky deaky, gram still gets shivers when she tells the story.

Not my experience exactly, but my mother grew up in this huge multi-family house that had been converted into a bunch of apartments in Brooklyn. She and her brother and my grandparents lived upstairs, and all my grandma's siblings and their kids lived in the downstairs apartments. She SWEARS upon everything holy that this happened, as does her brother and all of the cousins.

She said she used to hear this quiet music sometimes, and when she tried to go downstairs to see where it was coming from, she would "float" down, as if someone picked her up and was carrying her. She thought it was just her for awhile until she told one of the cousins about it, and the same thing had happened to her. Turns out it happened to all of the kids a few times. Once it happened while five of them were together, and they spent a whole afternoon just playing... running up the stairs and being "floated" down.

I teased her a couple times and asked if they didn't all have a little *puff puff* of anything before soaring down stairwells, but she's very serious about it -- they all are. If it didn't happen, they certainly believe it did. Maybe they all just had wild imaginations... I dunno.

I'm a skeptic until I see/experience something for myself, but I must admit I have this fascination with the idea of going all around Europe for like a month, touring supposedly haunted historical sites.

Okay, I'm ready to whip out another one!

When I was in London in Grade 11, I was laying in bed in my hotel room. My hotel room mate was writing in his journal in the bathroom (or maybe he just told me that's what he was doing! ). I was looking at a chair by the window and a woman in her Sunday best circa around 1800 was sitting in the chair holding a baby. The woman stood up - the baby disappeared - and she walked through the wall. Then I would look back and she would be in the same place holding the baby and the same happened again. It wasn't disturbing, just very intriguing. I wasn't scared at all.

So then I went to do an errand, and when I got back, I saw the dead white mouse in my yard. So i went running up front, but luckily, the other mouse was still alive....

Should I whip out the next one?

I think I'm ready. When I was in Spain in October I was in a subway station. This one is super weird. My friend Tara and I were walking from one end to another and there was a man approaching us who basically looked like a homeless guy or a major sketchpad! My friend didn't notice him at all as he was approaching which was weird to me. I was watching him the entire time as we were walking. He was walking very slowly with his head down not looking up at all. As he crossed my path, he looked over at me and grunted with angry, evil, scary, pee your pants eyes. The grunting sound was absolutely demonic! I said to my friend "Did you just see that?" She had no idea what I was talking about. Seconds later, we turned around and the guy was no where to be found. The subway was one long tunnel with an entrance at either end only. There were no side exits. Scared the crap outta me!

Omigod! That's really weird. Same thing happened to me, only it was a real guy. He yelled in my face. Now I'm starting to get jealous. How come I never see any ghosts? Except, of course, for the ghost of what I want to be, the ghost of the past that I live in, and the ghost of the future that I'm frightened of....
