Because of two people ( ) who just won't give it enough love! :xoxo:

I really love this song. Conveniently, I first heard it when I was going crazy missing someone, and it helped me. It's one of my favorite tracks from The Dance. (Might be my fave). I think Chris (and the others) really rock out with this song and it makes me feel good every time I hear it, regardless of what's going on with me. :)

Oh, and your new sig is incorrect--there is no "and" in the lyrics. :p :)

I was going to say the exact same thing, until I saw this. :wavey: In addition, the harmonies are easy and fun to sing.

I like "Temporary One" alot. It's a good, upbeat song. Of the new Dance songs, I liked this song & "Bleed To Love Her" the best; I wasn't too fond of the other two new songs. It was a good way for her to end Fleetwood Mac, since this was her last Fleetwood Mac song.

Once again, I adore it. The title is a bit odd, I'll admit...even Chris sounds funny when she introduces her own song LOL. But she sings great on it; John's contribution is kick-ass as always, the drumming is pretty darn cool, and I just smile whever I see C, S and L all singing the happy chorus. LOVE this song.

FWIW of the new songs I also liked Bleed to Love Her, and Sweet Girl; thought the lyrics were very touching and (for Stevie) easy to understand!!

(The title is odd, though.) :)You know, I hadn't thought of that before, but I think you're right. The title does seem contradictory to the theme of the song, doesn't it?

...even Chris sounds funny when she introduces her own song LOL.But when she does it I adore her accent and wish I talked like that. :woohoo:

What made me even happier about this song is how much Chris seemed to enjoy cracking out the tune...It seemed to be that she really enjoyed doing it, which is always great to see.

One of the MANY things about this song I really like is how Lindsey's guitar solo sounds like a honky-tonk piano instead of a guitar.

I agree. I also think that this songs rhythm is a classic rock and roll in its progession. She really is a talent and one sorely missed by me.

I like for the title

"Sea that Divides Us"

That's not only a great alternate song title, but a good title for an album or a tour. Still, lets give credit to Christine for 'Temporary One," -- an unusual, intriguing and slightly ironic title. She could have chosen a more expected mudane title. Keep in mind ....Remember Me, Did You Ever Love Me, Believe Me, Say You Love Me, Think About Me, Got A Hold On Me... ;)

Personally, I really like the song. As someone else mentioned, as a swan song, Christine was consistently good 'til the end. I can overlook the heavily cliched chorus because it's so upbeat and features a group vocal. I particularly enjoy Lindsey's choppy guitar solo.

I have always loved "Temporary One." And I love the wry suggestiveness of the title. In fact, when I first saw the dance on live tv I was blown away by the upbeat, hard-edged quality of the music. The look on Lindsey's and Stevie's faces reveal that they are discovering the joy of the chorus as they're singing it.

I'm not sure why so many people consider this song a throwaway tune or, in the words of one of my friend's, bland. I think it is a lively example of good-time rock in the manner of "Believe Me."

I find myself singing this all the time while I'm driving.

I love this song, too. I dance to it a lot.

The one thing I disliked was the placement. Why after ISA? It didn't seem to flow well. I think it would have fit better after Gypsy.

I do like "Temporary One", but for me "All Over Again" will always be Chris' true swansong with Fleetwood Mac. "Temporary One" is just a random blip in the night after that. But it's still, as others pointed out, solid work.

Despite some rare gems of running order*, tracking/running order of albums & concerts really has never been Fleetwood Mac's strong suit, IMVHO.

*- the HAEWAFY/I Loved Another Woman/Brown Eyes string of their 1987/88 tour was magnificent.

I think YMLF is my fav on the Dance. Although, I love Everywhere and SYLM.I love "Temporary One" because it's unique to the Dance album, but it's so hard to choose a favorite Chris song on that album because all of those performances you mentioned came out so well and (in some ways) are superior to the album versions. I love what they did with SYLM. It's gorgeous.

Everywhere  It's just so catchy and fun - I like the Dance version so much more than the original  ANd oddly - when I make my friends (non-Mac friends) listen to the Dance - that is always the first song they're drawn to and then become obsessed with...it's weird - that's happened to like three of my friends....so that's my fave Chris song on the album :D

I still can't handle SYLM because of the word "woo" I don't know why - I really have an aversion to the word "woo"

My favorite song on the Dance(which also happens to be a Christine song ;)) is "You Make Loving Fun". The Dance version is my favorite live version of the song ever. I love the look that Mick gives Chris at the end. They knew they had nailed the song perfectly. "Say You Love Me" is great because it is different from before, although I still probably like the earlier versions with Chris on piano just a bit more. I think "Everywhere" is better than the live Tango & BTM versions. "Over My Head" is great too. "Songbird" is songbird, perfect as always. I have no complaints at all about any of the Christine songs on the Dance.

Christine recorded about 40 demos with her then husband for a solo album back in the 1990's. But, she's either destroyed them or kept them to herself. None have circulated. "Temporary One" was among those 40.

I wonder if any of them are any good?

Also I wonder if Eddy has ever thought of recording them himself?

Would he be able to do that without her permission? (and do you think she'd give it LOL) Eddy doesn't seem to be up to much these days. But then if I 'co-wrote' a few major hit songs w/ Christine McVie I guess I could kick back and relax too. ;)

I can't imagine that he'd be allowed to record any of those songs, unless he got them in the divorce settlement. He didn't get the dogs or her house so I doubt he got the songs. ;)

By the way, I have a feeling that "Easy Come Easy Go" was one of those 40 demos as well.

Eddy has pretty much disappeared from the face of the earth. I'm still awaiting his "next big hit".

She had a thirty year career.......I'm thankful for the music she's given us. I miss her, of course, but I'd rather her be happy in England than miserable on the road.

Of course I wish she were still with FM, but I'm happy that she's living the life she's earned.
