OK I am starting another Vegas thread. I am looking for places to take some interesting photos. I kind of want to go off to the desert someplace nearby and take photos. I am not going to rent a car and I want to try and make my plans now.
Does anyone have any ideas of good places nearby that are easy to get to by a bus or train?
Any kind of ideas are welcome. Also I know that there is a CVS on the strip but it is kind of down on the other side. Are there any other good one hour and digital photo kiosks around? I am sure that I will be heading down to CVS a few times anyway.
Thanks in advance!

Pattie,
There are usually tons of reasonable day trip tours from Vegas via bus. Grand Canyon is one, I believe you can get to Red Rock Canyon & Valley of Fire State Parks too.
I highly recommend Valley of Fire - not just cuz I just got married there. :D The rock formations are incredible - very good photo opps.

Valley of Fire sounds like the place that I want to go to. Your photos were awesome! Of course I won't be getting married there or I guess nowhere, now. :( At least I hope to come back with some nice photos and of course our Ledgies photos! :D
Thank you for the info! Now I just have to find a bus that goes there. I was thinking of going on Monday now watch I bet that there will be no bus on Mondays.

Pattie,
I'll look for tour info & keep you posted. And don't be so negative about getting married - it's not like you're 100 years old. Sheesh.

Thanks for checking for me! I know that I shouldn't be so negative, too. :)

Here's a decent deal for Red Rock Canyon:

EDIT: Other than this, everything seems to be over $100. Hoover Dam's cheap, but I don't think you'll get too many amazing photos there. You may be better off renting a car for a day & heading out.
I did a search for Las Vegas Valley of Fire Tours & a bunch of sites came up. Take a look.

Paula, I think I am going to do that one. It is just the right amount of time that I want to be gone. I will back to to rest, shower, and change to meet my friend and maybe we can go have some dinner.
That is just the amount of money that I want to spend, too!
Thank you so much! :xoxo:

I would suggest renting a car. It will be cheaper than those tours, and gives you the freedom to stop where you want to. Renting a car is cheap midweek. And most places will deliver the car to the hotel. If you are looking for natural locations the ones allready posted are great.
There are also lots of architectural things on the strip, I would also suggest the desert gardens here in town for closeup type things. The grandcanyon is a long one day trip. The dam is half day. Redrocks is less than a halfday. (Obviously depending on how much time you take there.)

I don't want to rent a car. I think that the Red Rocks trip would be the best for me. The Desert Gardens sounds good, too. Where is that? I know that there are tons of things on the strip, too.
