Hillary's been fighting for a bill to make equal pay the law. It's just hard to prove that someone is being paid less because they are a woman. Employers will say it is performance-based or something. I know I am underpaid partly because I'm a woman and partly because I'm too f*cking nice. That's it, no more Miss Nice Guy!!!

I found it significant that while more women are becoming educated they are still earning less. Apparently the disparity starts inside the classroom with girls being ignored or harrassed...I hadnt noticed that phenomenon in MY classrooms but then again, I'll talk to a doorknob so I just spoke right up. In fact I think my teachers were GLAD I spoke up because the rest of the class was snoozing and I was the only one engaged. pretty sad eh?

Very sad. I was in the upper level classes where most students were interested in learning. I had mostly great teachers. There are 2 I can think of that harrassed me. Yes I think part of it is that I'm female, one of those teachers was a woman. But mostly I think they knew I could do better than I was doing. But I couldn't because of my anxiety level which they just didn't get. Actually no one seemed to get that. Not even me until about 7 years ago.
Anyway, I have seen this more in the corporate world than I did in school. I ask myself often what the hell I'm doing there because the values just don't match mine. But the company I work for now is really good. Just my boss has a thing for penises. All of the team leads in our group are men. She relates better with the men in our group. It makes me nuts. And actually, I think she perceives them as better. Like she will discount things they do wrong and then magnify the things they do well while doing the opposite with the women in the group.

I noticed things a lot like this from when I was young, in the classroom. Strangely, it was all my chick teachers who were the worst.
