Hi guys. I know a lot of us are trying to lose weight and/or tone up so I thought I'd start this thread to maybe help motivate us. Right now my neck is killing me, is that a good enough excuse to skip the gym? Also, I'm so lethargic because it's frikkin hot here today. No, I'm not even kidding! It's like a summer day. They don't have the AC working right though so it is hard to concentrate being so hot.

Anyway, how's everybody doing with their bods? :D

Well Saturday I finally kicked myself in the ass - got into some gym clothes and hit the gym full-force!!

I was SO excited when I got there (haven't been in two months) because they got some new ellipticals that are just like the ones I used back home -and they KICK ass - I get such an amazing workout- I mean sweat dripping great workout - the other cardio stuff there wasn't doing it for me....

Anyway - I have gone three days in a row - and I'm hurting :D My upper body was really sore yesterday - today I'm better - but I already feel much better

I am determined to not get too lumpy before my time...:D

My calves are so sore, I can barely walk! But I walked to work, and I'm walking home, so hopefully the lactic acid buildup will be down enough so that I can jump rope again tomorrow. :) Update? - I'm still really muscly, with fat on top of it.  Oh, and of course my shoulders and arms are a bit sore from jumping rope, as well.
Edit - oh, and did you know your feet bones and ankle bones can get really sore? Yep, it's true!

I am trying to watch the 'sweet' intake. I had a low carb wrap at D'Angelo's today and it was not bad. I also tried the 100 calorie Wheat Thins and I like them. The 100 calorie Oreos are not that great but they are something to munch on at lunch.
I need to do something to get in better shape because I don't want to pass out in the desert while I am trying to get some photos. I am not going to join a gym but maybe I can do a bit of walking on my lunch.

That's my problem....after working out for almost two years straight - I was really muscly- so now that I've gained around 10-15 pounds - I'm still muscly - I just look more bulky...

AND I think my butt and legs look lumpy...people swear they don't but I'm afraid that they do :distress:

I took ibuprofen which took care of the neck pain so I will be going to the gym after all. Like right now. Sounds like you ladies are doing awesome. And Deanna, it's not lumpy, it's "curvy".

Also, Amber, I've discovered this shaper that takes care of the tummy and rear and it's awesome. I got it at the drug store in the panty hose section. Not that comfy but waaay better than panty hose because the legs don't go down to your feet, I hate that. It's pretty doable. I wore it out last night to keep things from marching to their own beat, so to speak. This could be a solution for that dress with which you aren't fully happy with the fit.

THank you, Suze. But there is no way I'm wearing a shaper! hehehehe. All my other dresses look fine, so. And I even have worn the green dress out, and danced in it, and flirted with two boys at once, so, It's not that bad. But thank you, I'll keep the idea in my files. I'm actually fairly solid, so that helps. :) Ibuprofen, great idea. Congrats on your gymness. I doubt I'll lose much, if any, weight before Vegas, but swimming season is right after, so.

I had a feeling,. And I, um, what? I don't wear those things! Hehe. Kewl, I bet the dress looks good. My skirt last night looked good without it too but I'm so paranoid about people thinking I look fat. Damn that looks harsh in black and white.

I'm sure it looked good. I try to minimize my fattitude, too, but there's only so much I can do. Which is basically try to wear flattering clothing. My least favorite thing is actually how my arms look. I used to love my arms, now i just like them, cause there is fat on them. :distress: Must.lose.arm.weight!

hmmm, maybe the ledge can be my source of motivation as well as entertainment? i'm completely frustrated right now. i live in florida now, having moved from new york. i used to walk everywhere, now i'm driving 100% of the time. i'm way too lazy to drive to the gym and walking around the block has already lost its appeal. oh, and i complain a lot... i eat really well, i don't count calories per se, but i am extremely aware of what i eat. what is the most fun exercise you guys get? i kayak frequently, makes me feel like i can crush the world in my mighty arms...

Hi guys. I know a lot of us are trying to lose weight and/or tone up so I thought I'd start this thread to maybe help motivate us. Right now my neck is killing me, is that a good enough excuse to skip the gym?Get to the gym & remember: instead of high reps with light weights, it's LOW reps with HEAVY weights.

Do two sets with weights so heavy that you hit failure after five to eight reps. Move on to another body part, & then come back to that part one more time.

Every Monday, Wednesday & Friday -- rest on Tuesday, Thursday & the weekend (or do your aerobics) -- & within four months, you will be a metabolic machine that burns whatever calories you throw into it.

Build your musculature, & you can say goodbye to all those stupid liquid diets & low-carb diets & all that other horsewash. (In general, just eat foods closer to their raw or natural state -- cut back on all the cans of **** & bags of crap & cannisters of crud you eat)

It's stupid to count your calories going in ... unless you're also aware of the calories going out. And with weight training, believe me, thousands of calories each week will be going out.

I am going to see the Dr. (Hopefully this Friday) to see what is causing the hellacious tight pain I am feeling (On a constant basis) in my chest...My Mother's side of the family has a history of heart ailments, So I am very concerned (Can ya believe we still do not have my Mother's death certificate and autopsy results??? I am PISSED about the slowness of these records since the hospital caused her death due to heart failure due to septic shock.)

Stress has taken it's toll on me this past month (At least I have enough pride to not hit the bottle or use drugs to escape the pain/stress, But my temper is now at a record all-time shortness)...If I can recover my health now it will truly be a miracle.

Well, kayaking would be my favorite, if I could go.... I have to rollerblade or walk everywhere, since I don't have a car. Rollerblading is very fun. Yoga is good, you can do that at home, with tapes. Also, Pilates, same thing, very challenging. Also, I just do exercises at home with my body weight - push ups, sit ups, leg ups (for the bun), calf ups - and i have 10 lb hand weights that I use as well. Also, a jump rope - I do it in my house or my yard - it's kick ass excercise, and easier on your joints than running. :wavey:

I'm glad you are having that checked out. Take care of yourself. :xoxo: I'm sure that it is all the stress you have been under for awhile. I was having chest pains at one time. It was all the stress I was under at school. Stress is the worst. It can totally kill you. Start meditating. :p

Ugghh....I hate working out. I try to make myself do pilates, but I usually don't. I will do it everyday for a week, and then cannot convince myself to do it for another month. I have to do it, though. Swim suit season is coming fast. I actually already wore one the other day. I hate hate hate working out though. :o

I do circuit training (continuous cardio and weight) for an hour, three times a week. I do Winsor Pilates the other three days, and I rest one day a week. Dietwise, I'm pretty close to being a vegetarian. I eat very little meat, if I do I only eat fish or free range chicken. It has worked well for me, but I have gone on these shots (one once a month) after my surgery to shrink my growth. It makes me menopausal as long as I am on the shots. That has caused me to gain a little weight, so now I'm having to try even harder. Hormones are such a great thing. It is so frustating!

Blah - that sucks, Brian...I'm sure the stress of the last month or so had most definitely NOT been helpful with your health stuff....

But I hope you start to feel better soon...my brother in law was having a constant tightness in his chest a while back - it was scary - I forgot what ended up being wrong with him...nothing too serious -I hope that it's nothing too serious in your case as well.

heart monitor last summer which the results were 'inconclusive'. The stress test (ie-Treadmill from hell!!!) did not show any abnormalities, But 2 separate EKG's showed some type of heart problem and the stress test & heart monitor were applied afterwards...Chest X-Rays showed nothing out of the ordinary & my blood work was normal.

I also gave my primary physician my family history...but I think he needs to investigate what is causing me the pain more throughly, I dont want to have to end up in the same situation that I just dealt with last month (The f**ktards of MRMC thought my Mother was having a heart condition after her initial surgery, and treated her for such, All the while ab-so-lute-ly F**KING overlooking a perforated bowel for 1 week (!!!) which caused septic shock which in turn caused my Mother to suffer complete heart failure...She died EXACTLY the same way Pope John Paul II died, Septic shock!)

Unfortunately the Dr. who performed those procedures on me is no longer employed at the hospital, So I am planning to see my Dr. yet again on Friday to see what the f**k is wrong with me...

Let's just say I am agitated to the point that if anyone gets on my nerves I will make an example out of them without a care

It is likely the extreme stress that is causing your pain. Your doctor may want to prescribe some anti-anxiety medication which I wouldn't discourage you from taking. You have suffered plenty.

I just discovered an incredible book called Eat Fat, Lose Fat and I can't recommend it enough. Even if you're freaked out by the title (can't blame you since the government has brainwashed us all into being phobic of consuming fat), I encourage you to check it out! Lack of QUALITY fat in the diet has slowly led to a number of health problems, most notably decline in mental health since cell walls are composed of fat and brain messages need fat to travel. Over a period of about 2 years, I have remarkably recovered from anxiety, depression, skin and digestive problems, and also lost about 30 pounds I didn't even realize I had on me! There is another book almost as good called The Good Fat Cookbook (which is actually more information than recipes). I tried Atkins for awhile to help with these problems, but it is so extreme that it is nearly impossible to stick to (therefore you end up in a terrible-for-you yo-yo situation as you continually try to return to the program only to fall of again), and I don't like the use of artificial sweeteners.
Hopefully I can help at least one Ledgie out there!!! :wavey:

I never seem to get enough of the good fat. But if I eat salad I get the balsamic vinigarette which has olive oil. Also, I eat sardines (boneless). I also buy omega 3 eggs. But maybe I will start a fish oil supplement. I also eat salmon occassionally but have been freaked by the whole mercury thing. Although apparently it's in sardines too. And I concur regarding the chip fat. :wavey: I hardly ever eat them but when I do I certainly enjoy them!

I am, by the book, obese. I don't feel like I look real fat, but I'm a big girl, and I can stand to loose some, oh... 50 pounds or so. I've never been one to watch what I eat, and now it's coming back to haunt me. I'm turning out more and more like my dad, and that's not a good thing. Sooooo, I started taking a multi-vitamin, and I have cut my soda intake to one a day; first thing in the morning (it's like my coffee), and I have this monster 64 oz mug that I drink on at work all day full of water. I eat a small bowl of cereal for breakfast, a banana as a snack, a salad for lunch, and then dinner. I'm learning myself some portion control at dinner. I bought a Gazelle, which is excellent, might I add, and I usually try to do it first thing in the morning for 15 minutes, Monday through Friday. I don't want to over do it, so I don't get burnt out and quit completely. So far, I've only lost about 10 lbs, but I can tell a difference in my waistline! I can also tell a difference in my metabolism.

I don't want to over do it, so I don't get burnt out and quit completely. So far, I've only lost about 10 lbs, but I can tell a difference in my waistline! I can also tell a difference in my metabolism.
congrats! that is wonderful! Try to add more good fats to your diet. Have some salmon with your salad! eat some olives or nuts as a snack! (It's important to vary your diet) Take calcium!
Way to go! :) :xoxo:

I took ibuprofen which took care of the neck pain so I will be going to the gym after all. Like right now. Sounds like you ladies are doing awesome. And Deanna, it's not lumpy, it's "curvy".

Also, Amber, I've discovered this shaper that takes care of the tummy and rear and it's awesome. I got it at the drug store in the panty hose section. Not that comfy but waaay better than panty hose because the legs don't go down to your feet, I hate that. It's pretty doable. I wore it out last night to keep things from marching to their own beat, so to speak. This could be a solution for that dress with which you aren't fully happy with the fit.

i own up to it, i used to wear a second skin (think control-top hose minus feet) during the winter. and i liked it. i kept warm and looked a little more streamlined. it wasn't constricting and my pants fit a bit better. now that i live in florida, i can't be naked enough - i don't care about being streamlined when it's already 74 degrees at nine in the morning.

Right, I agree, it is excellent. Considering you burn 2,400 calories to lose just one pound to lose those 10 you burned 24,000 calories, now that is a sh*t load of work! Give yourself a pat on the back.

Get to the gym & remember: instead of high reps with light weights, it's LOW reps with HEAVY weights.

Excellent advice and this is what I try to do. However, right now I am suffering a huge set back: just had hernia repair surgery last week! Doctor recommends no strenuous work outs for at least four weeks. An eternity!

LOL.

But, the best thing for me, period, is swimming. Even if I only go 2-3 times a week. I swim either 2/3 of a mile or a mile, and that kicks my ass. Takes between 45 minutes and an hour, but it is worth it.

If I don't go to the gym or swim for more than a week...I will gain weight. Or at least it looks like I do...that's pushing 40.

:wavey:

Virgin coconut oil is a miracle, no joke. Check it out:

Woke up this morning and my large toe on my left foot is broke, And turned to the left somewhat (I cannot flex it at all and a large bruise is growing more dark by the minute)...

That does not sound like fun. I dropped my keyboard on my foot last week trying to move it and my big toe hasn't felt quite the same ever since. It swelled up a little but it never bruised and I could move it, though. I wore flops up until today (probably not the best thing since the strap hit right where my keyboard did) and now my calves and ankles are extremely sore from walking everywhere in flops. So it's back to tennishoes, much to my foot's dismay... Thankfully my keyboard still works and hasn't gone wiggy on me yet. I just got a gig bag for it and now I'm trying to haul it back and forth to rehearsals once or twice a week -- I swear, in the past week I've pulled muscles in my back and my legs that I didn't even know I had while I was trying to move it and it's not even that heavy. I gotta start working out just so I can move my own equipment and not be such a wimp.

After finals I'm going to start walking a lot more, bringing out all the cheerleading conditioning exercises I used to do, and inviting friends over to swim as much as I can. If my gym membership works over the summer (since the gym is on campus students get free membership) I might make it a habit to just head that way after work, but I don't know -- since I'm not taking classes this summer, that might not be the case.

The one two punch of Listen To The Rain and Destiny got my ass out of that seat to skip the track. I simply couldn't take Destiny after the sloppy playing on Listen To The Rain. Was that entire band on Klonopin and Cognac ? What a wreck.
It had also completely slipped my mind how strange and wispy Unconditional Love is...on what planet, and in whose opinion, does "Hey, hey, hey my precious one" qualify as a bridge ? The horror of it all.

David, you inspired me to go up on all my weights. I still did more reps than you recommended but I did work to fatigue on many. I don't like doing that for some reason because when I fail to lift the weight I feel like a failure! I think as long as I can manage to kick my ass and get the three days in I'm good. Thanks very much. This is my first real attempt, so, I'm almost skeptical of the results! I didn't know how many calories you burned with just one pound, let alone 10.

OK, off to the gazelle!

YAY! :blob1: What a good thread!

Well, I joined the gym at work about 3&1/2 weeks ago ($170 for the entire year vs. $350 a year I had previously been paying for Curves). And I? LOVE the eliptical machine! :) What a workout! :D I bring a book with me (keeps me occupied and covers the timer  ) and go for 30 minutes after work at least twice a week (though I try for 3.) I do weights 2-3 days a week while on my lunch hour.

David - if I do the heavier weights/less reps vs. lighter weights/more reps, will I bulk up? I don't want to look like a bodybuilder, I just want to tone. :)

I also started counting points again (ala Weight Watchers.) I've never actually been a member, but I copied my friend's stuff about 3 years ago & lost 15 pounds at that time. Kept if off about a year, then started slacking off & gained about 9 of them back over the course of a year or 2.

So I lost 3&1/2 pounds from the workouts alone, then started WW again, so I hope to be down at least another 3 by next week. Ideally, I'd like to lose a total of 18 pounds, but I'd be totally satisfied with 13.

Good luck to everyone! And remember - it's not a diet, it's a lifestyle change. :D

I'm not David - BUT I've read that it takes a LOT of effort and supplements and testosterone for a woman to bulk up.Deanna's right, Paula. It's a common misconception women are worried about for nothing. Physiologically, there's no difference between "bulking up" & "toning." either way, you are destroying muscle tissue, which has a tendency to regrow in greater quantity & quality.

using weights or weight machines just sort of lightly (you see people -- mostly women -- do this at the gym all the time), doing some rep 20 or 30 times or even more ... you aren't doing anything more than you would be just sitting on a chair swinging your arms around. Whether you want to "tone" (which IS building muscle) or turn into Ahnold, you need to push the muscle to failure. Otherwise, it doesn't trigger growth. Otherwise, all you're doing is just burning calories (expending energy) just as you'd be doing walking or driving or typing or sewing or burning DVDs of Bob Welch Live at the Roxy.

It's an unfounded fear women have of "bulking up." It takes men years to bulk up. It isn't going to happen to women presto chango.

Also, don't do your weights on the same days you do your aerobics. Just do your weights & then go home & eat fresh fruit & vegetables & fish & whole-wheat bread. In one year, you will have whatever waist you dream about.

See I've heard mixed things on that...I always do cardio first no matter what...

And then on days when I'm not doing any weights I still do cardio - it gets me blood pumping and puts me more in a weight lifty mood.....so why no aerobic stuff on weight days?

And then on days when I'm not doing any weights I still do cardio - it gets me blood pumping and puts me more in a weight lifty mood.....so why no aerobic stuff on weight days?It probably depends on how heavily you weight-train & how long you aerobicize. But the thinking is that if you weight-train to failure for 45 mins or more & follow it up with 45 mins or more of intense aerobics, you will catabolize (muscle breakdown) to the point of no returns or even injury.

With her big belly & squatness, Stevie should be doing weight (or strength) training 2 or 3 times a week & the treadmill on alternative days.

The coconut oil (remember, virgin is best...especially extra virgin organic) does wonders for the skin when applied topically as well. I hear it's a miracle cure for stubborn eczema and psoriasis. sometimes I do. But it is a lot more work. The hot water only stays hot for about enough to fill up the tub like, six-seven inches. then, of course, the water cools down. Usually when I do take a bath, I boil a couple buckets worth of water on the stove, and add that to my bath to make my bath bigger and hotter. So, see, how it's kind of a pain?

I got used to machines at Curves (which uses hydrolic resistance instead of actual weights - the harder you push/pull, the more resistance) so I've continued using the machines at the gym. I like them a lot. Are they good to use?

Oh, and Amber - I thought you might have only a shower stall (no tub) so I was thinking "my, she must be pretty cramped laying on the floor in her shower." :D

Get to the gym & remember: instead of high reps with light weights, it's LOW reps with HEAVY weights.

Wow. The exact opposite of everything I've ever heard. Maybe that's why it never worked! Thanks, David!

My health thing right now is continuing to cook Japanese. I'm lucky that an Asian market just opened up close to my house, and not only does it have my Asian ingredients, not only is the produce and meat incredibly fresh, but they are VERY reasonably priced!

It means eating more rice than I'm used to, but I'm eating less meat, which is probably a good thing.

I know. I'm always more concerned with washing my hands after I use the equipment than making sure the equipment is wiped. But I wipe the equipment too, just the hand thingy cuz that's the only thing I sweat on. So I wash my hands after cardio and then again after weights if I do those. It is skanky and gives me the willies cuz I know what's on these things ewww.

My gym at my old office was always so clean because people went in every night to disinfect it, I saw them! I don't think that's the case with my current gym. There is another branch of it that is much more spacious, it's just a bit out of the way.

Oh sure, I'm still eating protein, just not as much. :wavey: :wavey: Does that balance out the carbs somehow?

Before my diet was primarily protein. And I'm also doing more with tofu (big in Japan) so that's a new and better type of protein. Although I guess I'm mitigating some of the benefits of it when I fry it. But it's SO good that way with tempura sauce!

I know it's working, I see my usual little signs (my watch is too big, muscles & blood vessels in my arms are more pronounced, my clothes are fitting better, etc.) But I was so excited when I got on the scale, sure that I had lost at least 2 or 3 pounds.

I will NOT get discouraged!

How's everybody doing? I gotta tell ya, I am feeling great. I think I'm going up on my weights again this week because I don't get sore at all anymore at this current weight. I feel like I look slimmer which I think is mainly due to posture and my chest getting a little poofed up, it makes the tummy look smaller. Also things are tighter and more toned. I'm taking today off but tomorrow I will be doing both cardio and weights. And you know, the physical changes aren't even as important as the mental ones because I feel so good and confident, it's awesome. :D

So-so. Keeping up with the gym, it's the eating that's posing a problem  . In general, I'm eating right, but 2-3 days a week I screw something up. I'm not inhaling candy & potato chips or anything, but I need to watch my portions better.

Haven't lost - but still haven't gained, either.

Oops, did I leave out that I had beer last nite? The worst thing about that is craving fatty foods the next day, which is today. But it's about balance, right? :D Mmm, subs...pizza...calzones...oh my! But tomorrow I'll be kicking my ass in the gym.

I'm really late to this thread, but I'll contribute what's been my fitness/rehabilitation routine!

First of all, I spend at least 15 minutes each day stretching. In addition I have a weekly schedule:

Sunday: 45 minutes or more spent on the treadmill

Monday:50 minutes time spent in pool doing aquatic therapy

Tuesday Two 15 minute walking sessions, either on land or on treadmill

Wednesday: 1 hour physical therapy

Thursday: An additional 15 minutes of stretching, and 1/2 hour of breathing exercises

Friday: 1 hour physical therapy

Saturday: 1/2 hour spent on stationary bike

I've managed to stick the above for about two months, except for a week or so when I was really sick. Per usual, I also make a conscious effort to eat healthily and proportionately.

Of course, all of that and I still don't gain any weight nor muscle. I figure I'll gain a whole bunch of weight all of a sudden once I get older.

Wow, that's quite a schedule! Nice work. And you're right about the weight gain when you're older, it's just about guaranteed.

:\ I had beer this weekend too....and it wasn't light!!

But I think it's important to enjoy one's self....it's not as though a couple of beers will destroy you - especially if you're at least semi-active

I also slacked really badly at the gym last week :( - But I plan to get back on track this week...I went yesterday and did upper body - today I took my dog for a run/walk in the park - so tomorrow I'm hitting the gym again for a more intense cardio workout...:D

I love beer, I will never give it up - NEVAH! You can't make me!

OK, so I'm pretty well back on track, but can someone answer this: Is it better to focus on one part of the body when doing weights, or mix it up? I mean, should I go from biceps to quads to triceps to pecs to inner thighs etc. OR do all leg stuff, then all arm stuff?

Right now I do all legs/butt, then on to arms. Abs last.

I used to HATE beer - but I've definitely acquired a taste

ANyway - I also had the same question you had recently....right now I do all upper body one day then all lower the next...

BUT I never do like all biceps in a row - I usually do a set of biceps - then a set for something else - usually I do some supersets like that....

Mix it up. Unless you're one of those super weightlifter types, who lift for like, 2 hours, then mix it up. I do, like, situps, then arms, then squats, then butt, then calves, then back, then repeat 3 times each. Like that. I mean, your way is probably fine, too, though. I thought you meant at first you only did one muscle group per weight lifting day. :p You know, arms tues. Legs wed.

I cannot really remember when I was 100% healthy for an extended period of time...Been a few years I know (I would guess pre-2001).

Thought maybe the anti-inflammatory med was causing the headaches but I havent taken 'em since they started, So who knows what is wrong now...Hell, Honestly I am somewhat scared to find out with lil' luck I have had as of late (I dont feel sorry for myself or do I feel depressed...I dont give up that easily!)

As long as you rest the muscles one day you can do them in any order you want to. I usually do everything one day, take the next off, then do them again. But I don't do any leg work besides all of my cardio which seems to be shaping them up quite nicely anyway. Lately I do biceps, shoulders then repeat that. Then I do triceps, then chest and back, then another shoulder exercise, then flies and lower-back, and last abs. But sometimes if I feel bored I mix it all up. For arms and shoulders I use dumbells and for chest and back I use machines. I went up again on my weights last time and still did not feel sore but it did feel like a good effort so I'm going to stay there for a bit.

This thread really does help me to keep motivated.

Hatha yoga is excellent for stress relief.

sometimes, too, you can develop headaches out of nowhere as a food allergy. Allergies that come & go throughout adulthood are difficult to track.

Well yesterday I was sick all day with a bout of bronchitis, Which went from bad to worse last night when my temp spiked to 101.6...I was feeling as if I was a lobster in a pot of boiling water, Without actually being the lobster and without that damn pot/water.

My temp finally broke after 4AM, Which was a relief cause who wants to visit the Dr. with a fever/temp? I sure as hell dont...Knowing my luck Dr.Hamilton (aka "Doogie Howser") would've slapped my happy ass in the hospital and stuck me with the one nurse at the hospital I dread more than any...My wife!

Well, My Dr. appt. started alright, I told "Doogie" about my latest bout with bronchitis and he gave me a antihistamine (Norel SR) to help clear up my bronchitis and help me feel better, Plus a shot of some type of steroid in the booty to help me feel better since I am so congested...

The real fun was when "Doogie" went over the CT scan I had last Tuesday night for my ongoing headaches, Which Deb was told by the technicians was clear, Comes to find out another doctor found an "abnormal calcium deposit" in the right side of my brain! Ah great, First bronchitis now I have marbles in my f**kin' head

The calcium deposit may not be anything major, but "Doogie" said it could also be something worse...He asked if I had a stroke because calcium deposits are a sure sign of a stroke, Which to my knowledge I have never had a stroke. So now "Doogie" is goin' to schedule me a visit with an neurologist to determine what exactly this "Abnormal Calcium Deposit" is, And to have a MRI to see a more detailed view inside of that large lump that is located a few feet above my ass known as my head

Ah, If I live to make 35 in a few days it will be a modern miracle

She's the top secret part of the equation that no one wanted to tell us about. Seriously, how do you lose weight on this "diet"? Anyway, I'll take it, I would have been happy just to maintain after all of that deliciousness.

Maybe you guys lost water weight cause it was hot? Not to DD you...I'm glad you guys lost weight. Not so glad that I found it....am really glad my full length mirror broke last week. I didn't eat that much in Vegas, and I walked around and swam, too. But, no. Do tans weigh anything? Maybe that's it, I did get a tan....Or maybe Strands compliments swelled my head?

Are those at all satisfying? I've got to kick it myself again because in Vegas it's all about the buffets, as Pattie so eloquently said in another thread.

The buffets are worth it IMHO! I drink about 2 pots full of coffee in the AM and it cost me about $6.00 to go to Starbucks early one AM. I did not even like the danish either. At least at the buffets you can try different things.
I too lost weight but I really did not eat the garbage that I do at home. I also walked about 3 or 4 miles a day.

They are so worth it, I loved them. The coffee at Paris was delicious! I didn't walk quite so much. I made it over to Caesar's, down to Paris, and that's it for walking. I was driven over to the Hard Rock, so spoiled. :D I was so surprised by parking out there, you don't pay anywhere! Here in Boston you'll pay about $24 usually.

they tried to hand them to me, too. One lady was like "hey....HEY!!!....How long are you in town?" and then I didn't answer, and she was all "HOW LONG ARE YOU IN TOWN!!!" and then, Mariel, being nice, was all "just for tonight!" even though we were way down the street. Right after mariel said that, I yelled out "NONE OF YOUR F****NG BUSINESS!!!" Cause she was being really pushy, and she sounded really mad that I didn't answer her, and I hate that. How's everyone doing?

I'm down another 1.5 pounds, so it's a total of 8 pounds in about 2 months. Of course, this last loss is probably due to the fact that I was more hungover yesterday than I have been in years. Whatever. I'll take it.

Only swam once last week, but officially started pool season at home last night and that will make a big difference. I am working all summer at a University far from my house and am planning on getting a pool/gym pass for the season so I can work out here after the day is done and avoid the hideous rush hour traffic. It ought to be a good summer for being fit !

I get to spend tomorrow at the hospital to just get a referral so I can see a neurologist about this "abnormal calcification" in my "right temporal lobe" which was discovered on that recent Cat-Scan.

Hopefully this can shed some light on the downfall that has been my health this year.

Today I wore another pair of skinny jeans, I think I may get to go and buy some new stuff a size smaller, wahoo. Also, some good news for all, I read in O that this study showed participants lost about 15 lbs by just changing up their routine all the time. I don't mean exercise, or diet, I just mean their life's routine, just do different things and you'll lose weight. It sounds weird but maybe if you're more engaged you're less likely to over eat? I don't know, but I thought it was interesting!

finally have everything in place to have a visit with a neurologist, And to have a MRI performed to find out what the deal that is going on in my head (Imagine having severe migraines everyday...That has been me for the past 2 weeks, And they are getting worse  ).

The Dr. I saw today just told me to "stay positive...That will help you until we can figure out what is causing the headaches and determine what the calcification actually is..."

Brian "Did I mention I STILL have a headache? It sucks ass, man" j.

Sorry, Brian. I can't imagine anything worse than having a migraine every day. Well, I suppose there is worse, but i would really hate that. So, um, couldn't the doctor give you anything for the pain of your migraines???

I am taking the following meds for my headaches:

10mg Butalbital
100mg Propoxyphene (Dorvecet)
5mg Rizatriptan

The Dorvecet literally wiped me out Saturday, I slept off and on for 18 hours!!! I wasnt able to travel to lay flowers at my parents graves due to how ill I am feeling...My older brother Geary & older sister Lesa told me not to worry about it (Geary said "Mom & Dad arent goin' anywhere..." to which I replied dryly "I hope not, Or I may need to see a psych for my head next" ) and my relatives on my Father's side of the family told me to take care of myself and not to worry (Though I do worry).

What sucks is that the headaches have started to f**k with my vision, So I have an appt to see the Optometrist on June 9th...Man, I hope everything can be solved before July 17th, I so need to go on my yearly visit to Dallas to see a Fleetwood Mac related concert and hang with my fellow Ledgies.

When is your MRI? When I had one for my back and they found a big bulging disc it was oddly comforting to finally have proof of where the pain was coming from and that it wasn't all in my head! I hope they find the cause and a quick cure.

Yesterday I went shopping and had a slightly traumatic but funny experience. I pulled a size 10 pair of capris off of the rack and when I went to pull them on I could not get them past my knees. I thought the size had to be wrong or something. I just got down to this size so I was also scared maybe I wasn't as thin as I thought. Then I tried another color I had in the fitting room and it fit. Phew. The black ones were marked wrong! How could they do that to me!
