I was looking through some old clippings and found an article on a club in Dallas that Stevie is a part owner of. (The article is from 1984). Anyone have any info or idea on what happened since then? Evidently she played at the opening of the club. Anyone have any info?

All I remember is that Grace Jones was also part owner. Ummmm, did Gordon Perry have anything to do w/ it?? I don't remember, but I just emailed this thread to Brucie, he can probably answer better than me!

Evidently she played at the opening of the club. Anyone have any info?I'll dig up the big article I have on it. Stevie was a co-owner with a bunch of other people. It opened in 1984. Stevie & Grace did sets at the opening night (it was Stevie's only performance in 1984, I think). The club closed before too long for some reason -- bankruptcy, I guess.
I'll post the article when I find it.

I remember the Stark Club!
The Stark Club was a joint venture between some Dallas investors (Gordon Perry being one of them) as well as Stevie and Grace Jones. It was a beautiful club - very ethereal, with long white gauzy-type curtains blowing everywhere. The bathrooms were huge and co-ed, which was fun. I remember there were marble steps that took you down to the dancefloor. It was a gorgeous club. Unfortunately, it didn't stay open for too long. I hope this helped!
cheers, thanks a lot...

I went to the stark club back in 1997 when Dennis Rodman owned it. It was beautiful. I loved the marble steps down to the the dance floor and the upper level with cool furniture. I didn't know that there was a Stevie conection. Very cool!

I had a friend who went there in the 80s. It just so happened he was there when a BIG DRUG BUST happened. He said the cops burst in and everybody freaked out and started throwing their drugs on the floor. He said the floor was so covered with pills that the drug dogs were slipping and couldn't stand up!

Sounds just like another Stevie cocaine haze moment. Grace was a coke head for YEARS lol! My friend worked on a movie with her in 87 and said she was still wasted then  .

Machead Brian Townley wrote a thing about the Starck Club for the FM commemorative program from the '92 fan gathering, so I'm going to infringe on copyright & post it.
The Starck Club
May 12, 1984
Dallas TX
The Starck Club in Dallas was designed & named after French designer Philippe Starck. On May 12, 1984, before the club was opened to the public [sic].
Mr. Starck & a number of investors, including Blake Woodall, Gordon Perry & Stevie Nicks, threw a private party to unveil what would become one of Dallas' most chic & high-class nightclubs.
The club was designed with a very modern but dark look. With white see-through curtains flowing in the breeze between matching white couches & black marble floors, the atmosphere was very mystical.
Guests had been arriving since around 8 p.m. dressed to kill. Hors d'oeuvres & champagne were served as guests were photographed by the media & in-house photographers. One thousand guests & 90 press representatives were in full attendance by 9 p.m. Bruce Springsteen's guitarist, Little Steven, country star Charlie Pride & TV star Donna Mills were among the VIP guests. [John so-and-so from "Dynasty" was also there. -- David]
The temperature in the club seemed to rise around 11:30 p.m. as club investor Stevie Nicks appeared on stage. Opening with the legendary "Gold Dust Woman," Stevie was spellbinding, looking as beautiful as ever, dressed in a midnight-blue cape draped over her white lace dress, sparkling jewelry & the traditional platform boots. Her appearance was breathtaking.
Stevie announced to the crowd that she was thrilled to finally have her "very own disco!" & went on to thank everyone for sharing this night with her & giving her a reason to get her band back together. Stevie's set from there went on to what basically turned into a greatest hts show.
The band, which consisted of guitarist Waddy Wachtel, keyboardist Benmont Tench, pianist Roy Bittan & percussionist Bobbye Hall, sounded tight. Stevie & the band, performing on a stage the size of about two king-size beds with a large cement column in the center of it, did an outstanding job which included excellent performances of "Dreams," "Sara," "Leather & Lace," "Stand Back," "Gypsy," "Edge of Seventeen," "Stop Dragging My Heart Around," "If Anyone Falls" & the Fleetwood Mac classic "Rhiannon."
Stevie's 90-minute performance was electric. She sang of magic, she danced a dream. The gleam in her eyes when she sang a favorite song seemed to take her on a journey & she took everyone with her. All the glory & all the glamour, it was all there & remains.
After Stevie Nicks' performance, Grace Jones took the stage around 2 a.m. as the remaining guests danced as the night faded.
The Starck Club is now closed but remains alive. The Starck Club Corporation is still active between remaining investors. Major investors such as Blake Woodall & Stevie Nicks are still among the corporation & plan to hopefully [sic] bring the magic back one day, but until that time, a memory is all that is left for us now.
