View Full Version : Help me pick out photos for my class

Please!
I had to take 4 subjects for my photography class. One was a flag, which I already had a friend pick out a photo for me. One was people who are busy meaning that they are not aware of the camera. That was the most challenging but it was the most fun. I don’t want to post people’s pics on the net without their consent so I am going to have some coworkers help me pick those out. One was sunsets or sunrises. I took almost the same shots..
The last one was of buildings or part of a building. Those are the ones that I am going to post to see what you think I should submit. I only need to submit one of each category from my digital camera. These are all from my digital. On my film camera we had to shoot a roll of 24-exposure slide film. Each category was divided into 6 pics. I have no idea what is going to be on that film, either. At least I know what I got with my digital good or bad.
If you don’t mind checking them out and picking one out.
I already have the flag. I just need one of the building pics and one of the 3 sunset pics. I printed out some at CVS already but not all of them. They came out very clear. I was surprised. WARNING:
DO NOT GO TO WALGREENS FOR DIGITAL PRINTS. The paper that they use is garbage.

I posted the link with the password. Let me know if you have a problem getting in. The flag was just so we could use color, red, white and blue because everyone knows what it looks like I guess.

Thank you. I am very afraid of what is going to be on that roll of film, however.

Sorry, dear, I was lame, and didn't see the link.
Those sunset pictures are breathtaking, and I enjoy the "hall, columns" pic. I would pick the sunset and flag pics.
Great Job!!!

I posted the link after. You did not miss it. However, I already have the flag picked out. I think that I am going to pick the 3rd sunset pics. I just need for you to pick out a buliding pic for me. Please :)

As I said before, I choose the "Long Row of Columns" pic. I think it is the best.

Meh, that one is ok, if it's the one I am counting. ( I am counting by pic, in order) My other fav building one is number five - the shadows are good. All the other building pics seem to easy, to me. (not that i am any kind of expert - NEVERTHELESS!!! I do have good taste... :woohoo: :p )

Ha, see? An "expert" has confirmed my choices! Rock.

I'd go with the third sunset one (PhotoClassPics6031TFIX750.jpg), if only for the Rule of Third-ness of it. The Rule of Thirds is the most awesome thing everrrr.
I also dig this'n (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v482/WelshWitchPMD/Photography%20Class/PhotoClassPics5001T800.jpg). The placing of the colums draws your eyes toward the door in the center. This one (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v482/WelshWitchPMD/Photography%20Class/PhotoClassPics5014800.jpg) is good too, since the lines lead to the door in the center. Out of those two, I'd go for the second one. :)
OK, so in that 3rd sunset pic I used the rule of 3rds correctly. yeah. cause that was the one that I printed. I kind of like the 2 column with the door, too. It is part of a buliding and not the whole thing and the door is in the right spot. I took those pics with my SLR too but I am afraid that they did not come out.
Thanks for your help. :)

Oh, swwweeeeet! Once again not getting props for my (first! yeah, that's right, I called it first!) choices. Better call in an expert! I'm sure he/she knows better! I'm sure he/she has better taste!
"Oh, the photographer said it, it must be right!"
*oops, sorry - I think my job is making me bitter*
:xoxo:
good luck with your stuff.
Yes, I know that you did pick those out. I did say thank you. :) It is nice to get a photographer's opinion because there are 'rules' to photography. Believe it or not. You might just have a natural eye and there is nothing wrong with that.

Aww. You spelled 'desire' wrong.
Nah.
aww. you think I spelled desire wrong! Or at least you pretend to. doyugotothespeshlschool? forlmepeeple?
Sesly, it would be most welcome if you never, ever, talked to me.

No problem. I sure do, don't I? Wow, so many experts, and it can all be culled down to my opinion. How liberating.
I think that it good to get different perspectives from people. Nobody needs to say that they are better then anyone. In the end it is going to be the instructor who will decide anyway. Hey. it is only a class at AAA certainly not a big deal. I thought that this would be a fun thread.
Can we get back on topic? Please?

....
Wow. That makes absolutely no sense at all. I pretend to think you spelled desire wrong? You left off the e. That's desir. Not desire.
It'd be most welcome if you weren't so bitter over nothing. Or that just might be my "superiority complex" talking.
Whatever, I'm through with you. You're just wasting my time at this point.
thnshutthef***up. i'm sure you understand, as you started it with this: "kthnxbye."
Lame? yep. I was only hoping to speak to you in your own language. Looks like you don't understand it either.
Again, if I am wasting your time, please don't talk to me. Please. Please. Frallthatisgudandholy, dnttalktome!!! :wavey:

I can't wait to take some Vegas pics. I am taking my film SLR, too. I just have to figure out how I am going to pack that thing. I won't take that one into Ceasar's just my digital. I doubt that I will get anything good there anyway.

You might! I've seen good digital photos come from bad conditions. You have to sneak it in, though, I guess. "double O Pattie". :p

It fits into an Altoids tin. Ever since I got the darn thing I never even get seached! I did at a few shows but not much. I am just afraid of a wand or something but I could say that I have lots of change.

I really like this one (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v482/WelshWitchPMD/Photography%20Class/PhotoClassPics5014800.jpg) for some reason. I think it's the light fixtures and the fact that you can see each beam leading toward the door. All of the sunset pictures are gorgeous too, btw
As for everything else? Pot. Kettle. Black.

I love pics 4 and 10. Those are awesome!! Nice pics, Pattie!!
Pic 4 is rad because of those great columns. I'm an anal person and love symmetry. LOL I love castles too, and that building looks like a castle, so I love that. What is that place?
As for the sunset pics...there seems to be a richness to the second one. Of course, they are probably all 100% equal, but #2 is my fave. LOL

I just want to remind you guys...
There are no personal attacks on the Ledge Boards. If a fight occurs between two people, you have many options.
First of all, keep it off the boards and do it on email.
Second, don't fight at all...because it's usually not worth it.
Third, don't reply and tell a moderator, namely ME.
Amber and Deadliest Poison, looks like things have calmed down, have they?
If there is still a problem, please email me and keep it off the Ledge ok? Cursing and name calling and lead to ugly strikes and we don't want that.
I won't be home for 13 hours ( I work a NICE long shift today) but if we can keep the peace that would be swell. If it's really bad, Johnny Stew can help too. It just looks like both of you want to stop the fighting so I hope it can.
I never had a problem with either of you so I hope the peace can continue.
THANK YOU
:]
ALSO, if the two of you want to erase your posts, I would appreciate it. I'll keep them up if this isn't done so Johnny Stew can see them but if it's over you can delete the ugly posts.

Whatever, I'm contradicting myself here, but come on. I'm sure as hell guilty of namecalling, but so are you, Amber. Greg didn't do anything at all, and you jump on him? That's really ignorant. This is all so middle school. Not cool.

Well, after all that we did not have to hand in our digital pics until next week. The film we did. I will get to see that on the screen next week if anything did come out that is.
So, I might be re-shooting some pics and I will post them, too.
By the way my photography buddy looked at them via an email I sent her and she also loved the columns pic. :)
