I do hope it's true! I'll try to find out more. I'm guessing it's Warner Vision who is releasing it since they tend to do all the Storyteller releases here in the UK.
No listing on Amazon yet though and I couldn't find anything about a US release.

I LOVE the Storytellers show. It is fab indeed.
I hope it has extra footage *crosses fingers* the DVD releases often do, esp since Stevie's was pretty short to start with.

I'm a fan of how she totally denies that one guy in her band a high five. That was awesome.Wouldn't you say the star of the show is the droll, dry, sardonic Benmont Tench on acoustic piano?
He steals scenes (or shots) by just smirking & playing some chords.

Sounds to me like the UK branch of Warner (if that's who it is) has decided to release the DVD and they will have little or nothing to do with the US branch.

Not really. Blondie is from the US of A and us American fans had to wait almost a full year after the European fans got it before their last album was released here in the states. Many music releases in Japan and the UK get bonus tracks that we don't. Hell, Cyndi Lauper's last album was only released in Japan. Some American films get released on DVD over there before they're released here, too.
I don't know why the US "should" come before the UK. They're just as worthy as we are and I don't give two squirts of duck **** if I have to wait a couple extra months for a program that I already have on tape.

I don't mean to be offensive... I am just saying that a segment taped in the USA and showcases a rock star that hails from the USA and aired on a channel that originates from the USA would generally be released in the USA before other foreign countries. I mean, does that make sense to anyone else other then me?

Well, a lot of CDs are recorded in the USA and released first in the UK or with bonus tracks in the UK. I will say, however, that an artist that traditionally has sold poorly in the UK and well in the US would likely focus their releases on the US. Stevie has never sold badly in the UK, but her US sales are more than four times the amount she's sold in the UK (granted the population sizes are also vastly different).
Typically, though, I would expect the country where the artists sells the best to receive the most releases.

Pip
I LOVE ordering from the UK actually. You guys usually have to wait longer, but in my experience you have the superior versions of items. The Buffy and Angel UK sets are superior in terms of packaging, extras, the actual video quality(yeah widescreen) and you had them waaaaay before us. Same for BSG. I know, typically, you have to wait forever for stuff and the situations are reversed, but manufacturers seem to have their act together in region 2.
I didn't mean for my post to offend, merely to state that most decisions are motivated by money and thus it is not entirely illogical to presume that an artist who has sold very well in one place and not so well in another would focus releases on the place where he/she has done well.

This is great news for those in the UK and the US (sorry aussie (r.4) and other folks).
Most of these DVDs include two extra tracks that were not aired on the original broadcast. Stevie performed four songs not on the original broadcast:
Garbo
Rose Garden
Sleeping Angel
Gold Dust Woman
Which two do you think/hope we'll get. Here's what was on the Broadcast:
Dreams
Landslide
Stand Back
Rhiannon
After the Glitter Fades
Edge of Seventeen
Has Anyone Ever Written Anything for You

It is included on the storytellers uncut boot, but as others have said the quality is terrible. The best part about the uncut footage was Stevie playing piano and singing the first few lines of Sara. This was back when most of us were sure it was never going to be played again.

She definitly didn't "go off" on the guy. I think she was actually pretty nice about it.
Nothing Speical. I think GDW wasn't included because she didn't tell the story. She actually forgot. Plus the music was weak on it. I don't think Sleeping Angel made it because some of her vocals were a little off, just my opinion though. Ive been watching Stand Back non stop lately. Totally rocks!
Id definitly buy this!

Fan: Um, hi Stevie. I just want to say that I love you very much, first of all, and I uh, had heard that um, you write a lot of your music in your bathroom, is that true?
Stevie: I do, if it's a big wonderful bathroom. I don't write in little bitty crummy bathrooms. (smiles)
Fan: No, beautiful, your sanctuary is your bathroom, your sanctuary.
Stevie: So yeah I do, in Phoenix, 'cause I have a really large bathroom and it has incredible acoustics. So, and it has a view of the mountains. So, I kinda move everything in there and it's, it's a great way to write to be in an acoustically good place that's small, it works.

  details?
Stevie - just as bitchy as everyone else. :lol:The lady asked her if she really does write some of her songs in her bathroom, and Stevie said, "I do... but only if it's a big, fabulous bathroom. I don't write in little, crummy bathrooms." She then went on to explain that it's a great place to write, because bathrooms have good acoustics.
Neither what she said, nor her tone of voice, sounded bitchy to me.
(Now, her response to Chris Connelly in 1997 when he asked her about how her drug addiction affected Fleetwood Mac... "It wasn't just my problem. I was not alone in that"... sounded bitchy. Though rightfully so!)
As for her going off about the bootlegged demos question, my friend Jeffrey was the one who asked Stevie that particular question, and he had this to say: I would like to respond to Amy's posting, though. I was the gentleman who asked Stevie about the demos, and she was NOT AT ALL upset with the question. I stated simply that, she has written great songs that few people have heard, such as FOREST OF THE BLACK ROSES, THE TOWER and JULIET { I meant to say JULIA, that great Wild Heart out-take, but most Stevie fans knew what I was talking about}--and she did tell the story of how they were stolen from her house, then put back, but that wouldn't prevent her from re-recording them in the future, if she wanted. While answering her question about the theft, I said "It wasn't me!", and along with the rest of the audience, Stevie laughed. Just speaking to her, getting to talk to her, making HER LAUGH!!! It was all very surreal--almost dream-like, like I was a living Salvatore Dali painting.
When I stood up to ask the question, I said to her "I'm not going to stand up here and tell you how much i worship you, because that is obvious, and I'm here!" Then, once she answered my question I said..."Okay, I'll say it...God, I LOVE YOU!", which got a round of applause. Stevie bowed her head with a thank you. So you see, there was no bad vibes in asking the question. It went well.

I liked her answer, it was funny and made everybody (band included) laugh :D . I agree on the bootlegs answer, she wasn't particularly aggressive responding to it, even if clearly she was still angry for the theft. My favourite question anyway was the one about the blue lamp, the guy who asked it hadn't that kind of reverential approach that had the others.

Nope. DVDs have different region codes so that studios can make maximum profits on their DVD releases (aka being greedy f*ckers). Nothing more than that.

Nope. DVDs have different region codes so that studios can make maximum profits on their DVD releases (aka being greedy f*ckers). Nothing more than that.
Now, that's not entirely true. Technically DVDs have different regions to protect studios with regards to release dates. A movie like 28 Days Later was out ON DVD about a month before it even premiered on the big screen in the US. The idea behind region coding is to prevent "average joe movie goer" from getting the UK DVD and skipping the US box office. The goal is that no regions 2,4,etc. DVDs are sold in the US and no region 1 DVDs are sold in the UK or Australia.
Additionally some studios have different branches handling their films in other countries which leads to ideas like WHV UK is releasing Storytellers but WHV US is not. Then if WHV US changes their mind they don't want everyone to have already bough the UK edition so region coding is meant to prevent that as well.
True, the purpose of protecting box office returns is greed, but it is not to make maximum profts from the DVD releases (presumably most people wouldn't buy less copies of a DVD if it was all region coding), it is to make maximum profits from the movies themselves.
