I am not going to pay that, either! I don't care where they play either.

I think that The Mac was about $150.00 for AC. There other shows were about $125.00. I am going to say that the average price for this tour will be abour $175.00 before the TM fees.

I have a My Borgata card (it's not mine, it's my grandmothers boyfriend). FM would have been comped for me but he hadn't been there that month. Tickets for FM were a hell of a lot cheaper than this so i'm wondering if they'll even comp unless you're a serious high roller.

Oh, I did, but I didn't expect $253.50. Just for the simple fact that they would not have one band, they'd have two. One for her, one for him. It's going to be the most costly dud in the past couple of years.

Plus, for most people, going to concerts isn't cheap in the first place. Parking, tour merchandise/useless crap, food and drink, travel expenses, etc. Add all of that to the ticket prices and no one is going to want to venture out for this cash grab that they're trying to call entertainment.

I think she does want to get into the studio with FM asap. I still think she's feeling external pressure and the weight of a deal she made on her shoulders but I think her time with FM made her realize she can't wait to work from the ground up with them. IMO, this whole Vegas thing will be enough of a solo jaunt for her that she'll want to go back to working with them asap. Either FM or solo...we can't loose...just as long as the ticket prices are never this expensive again and her album isn't like, dipped in gold first.

Back in 1998 at A Day In The Garden, i'm fairly certain Don used Stevie's band and backing vocalists (with the exception of Sharon--Mindy and Jana both sang backup for him as memory serves). I just think this is a quick cash grab as we've all been saying before we heard the ticket prices.

I usually don't bitch about pricing...I live in NY and prices here are always ridiculous, so I'm kind of immune--but (if it's true) it's disgusting.
Truly, if I had known this, I would not have bought a freaking $175 ticket to see the Eagles this week and would have saved the money to see Stevie and Don.
And, the lovely part is, the really fabulous seats will be given as comps to high rollers.

I wonder from whom. I hope it's not true. Honestly, if the top tix on this tour are going to be $250 US, I'm going to blow the wad and go to Vegas. At least I'll see Stevie solo. I just wish they'd get out some confirmed info about Don and Stevie soon... Oh. As I'm writing this, I'm realizing they likely won't confirm any Don and Stevie until AFTER Vegas, so as not to affect ticket sales (as in, oh, if she's touring later this summer, I'll skip Vegas...)

God, I hate the music/concert industry sometimes.

MacMan

I'd venture a guess the Legacy info is mistaken.

Jan at the Legacy said she knows someone in or close to the Henley/Eagles camp - and was notified.... I, in a way hope it's mistaken too... just because it doesn't start the tour off on a positive note with ANYone....

I'm realizing they likely won't confirm any Don and Stevie until AFTER Vegas, so as not to affect ticket sales

I had the same thought... Once May gets closer - or her Vegas shows near sell-out, we'll probably hear more.

If the end of June is the beginning of this joint tour... It should be short. The Eagles have dates booked through August in California beginning on Aug 13th. Don himself has a couple of April solo dates, but nothing beyond that... So basically, May and June are wide open... And July if they are planning on getting this thing under way shortly after Vegas.

But if dates were going to happen at the end of May, you'd think tickets would have been announced already. A month and a half isn't really that much time to sell these venues, no matter the size, if ticket prices are going to be steep.

but I am looking at the Entertainment section of my weekend newspaper and Stevie and Don are indeed advertised at the Borgata on June 30 AND July 1st. No prices in the add but the Legacy has the dates, venue and ticket sale dates correct, so I would assume they have the accurate prices as well.
I agree, I didn't think tickets would top $200.00...but it is just common sense. For this to be profitable for BOTH of them, tickets would have to be high.

One thing Stevie apparently does understand is the bottom line. If her true fans decide they don't want to pay a car payment for HALF a Stevie set, maybe she will realize this idea sucked from the get go. I do not see casual fans forking over this kind of dough. If she makes no money, she will definately "get it".

You honestly believe people wouldn't pay that? Have you checked out the ticket prices of acts such as the Rolling Stones and The Who? Their ticket prices are even higher. People will pay it, don't worry about that, but it won't be anywhere near the sell-out those two farts are expecting. Both of them have been out touring for the last couple of years, not many are going to want to go see them again for twice the price.

People, instead of getting all bent out of shape and blowing your gaskets, wait first and get some definite information on the prices for these tickets. And even if they are that high for Borgata, I would say they'll be cheaper at other dates on the tour. Just some advice, and have a great day! :)

I don't think there's any gasket-blowing happening here. Just some understandable expressions of disbelief and disappointment. Those prices are ridiculous - I actually find them insulting. I think it's a snub to all the fans who've been there for years and years and years. God knows both Don and Stevie have lost fans through the years; they should be a little more appreciative of the ones like all of us who have hung in, supported them, and loved them for so long.

And by the way, my very first FM concert cost me $17.50. Sigh.

but I am looking at the Entertainment section of my weekend newspaper and Stevie and Don are indeed advertised at the Borgata on June 30 AND July 1st.

(anyone else reminising about the days of TISL with a full Stevie set for under a hundred bucks?)

Yup on all counts.

I agree. It is not a proven fact yet and I still don't beleive they would charge that much... I mean, that is three hundred dollars with the ticketmaster fees and tax! That is insane and Stevie and Don, I don't beleive, are popular enough to charge that much. Wouldn't people rather see Fleetwood Mac or the Eagles (for half the price) then Don and Stevie solo for three hundred dollars a pop? If these are the real prices for the whole tour then I will eat my words but right now, I am not going to worry about it because it may not be true...

I'm also not that concerned because I will have just seen Stevie a couple times in Vegas, so if I see any of the Don/Stevie shows (which I will only go to within driving distance) it will just be gravy.

But don't you agree that it would be better to have cheaper ticket prices and sold out shows, then to have through the roof ticket prices and half empty arenas? This just sounds like a stupid idea to me. If they are having seperate bands and are charging twice as much and going to split the profits, then why not just tour seperately?

Of course it would. But as it is, I don't think this will be an arena tour. They're going to play smaller venues and sheds and charge lots because of it.

I guess that must mean that Stevie and Don have separate bands with these high prices. I thought that Clear Channel was trying to give people more bang for their buck with these double bills.

This definetely sounds like something Clear Channel has worked up...but do we not know that AEG/Concerts West is possibly promoting this tour?

i am okay saying that because stevie's going to get her guarantee no matter what. and i honestly think that sucks, there's no reason that she or any artist should be able to haul in the cash while everyone else is ebaying their kidneys. what do you think a fair asking price is for a kidney?

I hope it does respectably enough, but not great - i don't want Stevie to be hurt by this, or her chances for otherwise getting to do what she wants and touring to be reduced because she didn't sell well enough. I want it to sell well enough to be respectable, but under expectations enough for them not to think they (she, really) can get away with diabolical ticket prices like that, in general.

I think that The Mac was about $150.00 for AC. There other shows were about $125.00. I am going to say that the average price for this tour will be abour $175.00 before the TM fees.

This is going to be one long, boring summer.

Too rich for my blood. I will probably go see a Journey concert this summer and pay $35 to $45. The only person I think I would pay $250.00 to see right now is Mr. Buckingham but I would hope he would be a bit more modest in his solo ticket sales prices.

The Legacy is reporting......

Stevie and Don will be performing on 6/30/05 at 8pm in the Event Center at The Borgata Hotel in Atlantic City.

Tickets will go on sale 4/30/05 at 10am.

Ticket prices are
$253.50
$203
$153.98

Atlantic City is absolutely the worst place in the world to see a concert.. I've seen Stevie/FM there twice and both times got into some scuffles with people insisting that i "sit down!!!!"... Although aren't the ticket prices also a result of high guarantee demands by the artist? Especially this being a co-headline tour. I'm sure Don and Stevie would be paid relatively the same, although with Don Henley who knows right? I just think this is ridiculous, and I hope these prices end up being incorrect...I thought $125 for Fleetwood Mac was steep, but bearable...but $250 is just not gonna happen from me...

Again, he was not cheaper on the SYW tour. He went right along with the higer ticket prices. If he tours alone or with a cmall band, the tickets will be cheaper, but it is a little unfair to compare that smaller tour with a double bill. If La Nicks were alone, it would be about half that or $125, which is still ballsy of her, but there is no reason to think LB would be any cheaper, esp. considering the entourage he brought out with him 15 or so years ago on the financially ill fated but artistically brilliant Cradle tour.

It's only $85 to see the Boss on his acoustic tour this summer you know. $59 and less to see Tom Petty (and the Black Crowes)...

Are you insane? Of course he'll be cheaper. I wouldn't expect his tickets to push $50 if he goes out on a solo tour. As much it pains me to say it, there's no market for Lindsey Buckingham solo. He'll only make money if he keeps ticket prices very low or else he's going to eat a lot of cash, and the general public won't pay much to see him in the first place.

I based this on his charging the same as La Nicks (at least according to the sources here) for FM. Thus, he is not above charging what he can based on the draw of the show. But, I agree in that he does not have the mass appeal of La Nicks or Henley, which sucks because he is an immense talent. But, he will charge the most he can get if The Dance and SYW are any indication.

I do love the Petty.

I don't think $85 for a top price ticket to see the Boss is that bad either. It's certainly better than what the Mac was charging on their last tour and he's probably a bigger draw.

Interstingly, I pulled up some of the other artists listed there (Nicks and Henley) were not listed. The other artists seem higher than elsewhere. For example, Bob Dylan is $97.00 - $137 while at The Beacon in NYC he is US $48.50 - US $88.50 - so maybe it is the arena  and the tickets will be cheaper elsewhere.

Also, Sting is charging $98.00 - $253.50 there and $46 in Champaign, IL and $49.00 - $59.00 in Fairfax, VA.

So, these numbers tend to make the high price of The B. shows not dispositive or even indicative of the other shows. Let's hope Nicks and Henley follow this trend.

This is what I'm banking on, too. I'm hoping the Borgata just jacks up prices because it knows it can pull in the high rollers. I can tell you for free, if they're going to be asking $250+ all over the U-S, they aren't going to get it. I was expecting $150 for top seats again - and even that is a lot. I actually had a dream last night that I met Don Henley ( ) and we were hanging out and talking all about the tour and the outrageous ticket prices. I can't remember much more about it than him saying they were only going to be touring the western U-S. Nowhere anywhere near Toronto or the northeastern U-S. Looks like the best route to see Stevie this summer is to make her Vegas shows. Sure you'll be shelling out a lot of money in ticket prices, plane fare, and hotel room costs, but at least you'll be getting to see a full set and a show unlike anything she's ever done before. This is gonna be a once in a lifetime experience and probably worth every penny.

The Henley/Nicks debacle on the other hand, is proving to be a real let down. Only big fans of both will appreciate this tour and shell out that kind of money on tickets. I would love to see Stevie but not for half a set at $200.00!

Just because they are both headlining a tour together does not neccessarily mean that they will perform half a set.. Alot of bands nowadays do this sort of thing.. I saw Alanis Morissette last year with Barenaked Ladies... they were both on stage equally for an hour and a half.. that's about the average for a Stevie solo show anyway..

That would be interesting and smart of her from a business point of view. A few weeks of that and then she is off of the road. And - there is not saturation of the national market so a national solo tour to promote a new record next Summer would not be effected. I guess we will have to wait and see.

I saw FM at the Borgata and it was NOT that great.

Really? I thought that show was amazing and security was great- they even let people set up tripods to take pictures! Alot of people considered that one of the best shows of the tour so it suprises me that you didn't think it was that great.

Did I see you mention a solo tour next summer? You must be kidding, right? When exactly is she going to work on this solo album, let alone complete it? Several people pointed out to me that she said she will be touring until the end of the year....that leaves no time to work on the thing. (if she even wants to which I seriously question)

I think if she tours for a month or so, she could in theory have a late Summer early Fall tour. But, that remains to be seen. Personally, I do not know if she will ever tour in the Summer again as it seemingly effects her health to play the sheds.

I had a dream she played a small venue and me and my sister were sitting in the seat part of the venue and she came out with all her band but all of a sudden there was something wrong and she (Stevie) motioned to my sister that the sound wasn't working, that she needed something to read (and no I am not joking, I didn't understand what was wrong and my sister told explained to me. She handed me a book and told me to take it too Stevie so she could read it (lol) so me *stunned* took the book to Stevie and I asked if I could sit near her while she read and she said yes, so I sat next to her thinking okay this is cool but this is going to be so hella boring!

The End

I knew I had this dream for a reason..

It was an amazing show but I think she means we were all a little surprised by the venue itself which IMO, wasn't that stellar. It was very reminiscent of the Hershey show--high stage--chairs on a field sort of thing--except the tickets were much more expensive. For once I was glad to be a few rows back. If not, you'd be straining your next to see the stage from up front. It wasn't my favorite venue at all.

I agree that these prices are outrageous. I even thought the FM ticket prices were ridiculoysly overpriced but I sucked it up and payed beacause I wanted to see them in case they never tour again. However I was curious as to what anyone of you guys think the ticket prices are worth. IE. What would you charge ? Me 125 tops and 65 for the nosebleed sections.

$20. It isn't worth a penny more. And even at that low price, I wouldn't buy a ticket; it's a waste of time since I don't like Don Henely one bit and I'd be bored listening to Stevie sing Dreams, Rhiannon, Gold Dust Woman, etc. Hearing her sing those songs again would be more of a chore, not something I'd pay cash money for.

John Shanks was crap, imo. He turned out her most overproduced songs yet. I wince listening to Planets; bloody brilliant song with horrific production. I think he made a conscious effort to be as bland and adult contemp as possible.

Couldn't agree more. I just about can't listen to the TISL version of Planets. Not having heard the brilliance it started out as...

It's strange, isn't it, the choices Stevie has made in terms of producers? We've all heard her demos - most are brilliant exactly as she plucks them out on the piano. And then.... what is it with some of the guys (and girls named Sheryl) who get their hands on them? They turn them into overly-produced, middle-of-the-road, 80s-style (when it's no longer the 80s), well, crap. I've also realized that as much as I love Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and their sound, I don't like Mike Campbell's guitar style or sound on Stevie's stuff (if I'm not mistaken, it's him on My Heart?). I would love to hear a Lindsey-produced Stevie solo album. Although, then, I guess, it'd sort of be a Fleetwood Mac-sounding album. Which would not be a bad thing. :)

I'm talking about musically it is over-produced...There's a lot of layering (In some places too much;ie-"Ooh My Love") on the tracks on TOSOTM, Which depending on what type of music you like (I am a more progressive rock/metal fan myself) will give the opinion that this album was musically weak...But back in the late 80's everyone overproduced albums after the effect of the Def Leppard's "Hysteria" that an album can be so over-produced that it fill even more space sonically & yet still be commercially viable and sell (Hysteria may be the most over-produced album sonically, But still a damn great release!)

I'm in the minority, But I think the reason I like TOSOTM so much is that I enjoyed how the vocals were there in the mix...And like ya said "Hine & his engineers just didn't record her flat, nasally, somewhat toneless vocals" I have to agree with ya, I enjoy Stevie's vocals on TOSOTM moreso than probably any other of her solo releases.

If you can find the TOSOTM master reels and compare 'em to the actual vocals released on the studio released version you'll hear that someone lit a fire under Ms.Nicks ass to get the vocals just right....Maybe that was Mr.Hine cause it sure worked with Rush on "Presto"!!!

I have to say I agree somewhat. I think there have been some incidents of great recorded vocals, but for the most part they are flat to my ears. I think some of that may have to do with her. However, I remember listening to the SYW video sniglets of her singing FM.com and thinking WOW she is really up there. Then, the record comes out and her voice seems dumbed down for want of a better expression. It is not on all recordings, but on most to these ears.

I think they're equally overproduced, actually. But while the Mirror album has its share of stinker vocals, they're incredibly warm for the most part and that's what works in that album's favor. On TISL, her voice is almost unlistenable at times; I have to be in quite the right mood to enjoy it. They did so much work to her voice that it sounds almost alien; very metallic and, at times, artificial and very cold.

I think Stevie purposely chooses a couple of songs by other songwriters for each album that are atypical of the songs she's able to write on her own, in order to add a different shading to the mix.

But in the end, Stevie has pop-rock/radio-friendly tastes, and her albums will always reflect that. So the songs she selects by other writers might be somewhat different from her own writing, but they're never going to be too different.
Anyone holding out for something truly off-the-beaten-path from Stevie's typical style, is going to die of old-age first.

It would be the record company that wants that. And they are the reason those other writers most often get used. Anyone remember the Timespace cover songs by Bret Michaels and Jon Bon Jovi ? (Love the adorable little guy but that song was swill to the core and don't get me started on that other stinky one) Using those songs wasn't HER choice. The inclusion of Everyday on TISL was clearly a tit for tat deal with Shanks for producing the record. I doubt his fee was within the budget of the record, and I'd bet the mortgage using that song as a single was written into his contract.
