Just because I have been collecting his DVD's like crazy as well as his documentaries and music info, (and PBS just got done using him for their pledge drive) I wanted to say that I think Bobby Darin is one of the most underappreciated performers/songwriters/actors etc, in recent memory. The man had such natural rhythm and range that I think its a crying shame he didnt get more appreciation when he was alive. And he was cute. in a 50's kind of way. There just arent any renaissance people around any more.....
btw: Mack the Knife is one of the most recognizable songs in the music lexicon.
also, Splish Splash isnt far behind. not bad for a man that only had about 20 years to make his mark.........

Can I just say the jigging irish guys in your signature are the funniest thing I've seen in... well, five minutes because I just got home from dinner with two of the funniest people I know. But seriously! They're funny little jigging Irish guys!
Also, just curious about the symbolism of the labyrinth with the white lines going through. At the end the white line flashes on a section of the middle. Does that mean anything or is it just a graphic?
I wanna hear more Bobby Darin. I had a friend (who I've since divorced) who was super into him too.

its supposed to be an animated celtic knot. the lit up part highlights a different section until all sections are represented. Im glad you like my leprechaun smilies! I like them too! they crack me up!
you're to be congratulated! 5 minutes is a LOOOOOONG time to a drunk!

Oh no! An Irish woman thinks I'm a drunk! I've got problems. You guys can pound the booze back big time! Truth be told, I haven't been drinking at all lately. Last night was the first time for a couple of weeks and the fact that the night consisted playing cards, listening to Ray Charles (which inevitably led to us all thinking we were full of soul!) and doing shots made the whole experience a recipe for disaster! Yet, I still give it one of these ---> because it was a damn fun evening!

if you had fun, then thats all that mattered!
as for Bobby Darin, if you ever get a chance to see this man perform on DVD or concert video or something, prepare to be amazed. They just dont make em like him anymore. too freakin bad...........

I grew up with this tape of my mother's always playing - it was called 'The 4 Bobbys' and had songs from Bobby Darin, Bobby Vinto (?), Bobby... I forget.. but there were four different Bobbys! lol
I think my favourites were 'Blue Moon' and 'Up on the Roof'.

It's twue, they can pound it. I'm a quarter irish, but didn't get that special gene. I'm Italian, too, but didn't get that gene, either. I seem to have gotten the special Native American gene,(gosh, I'm only 1/8th!) which gets drunk easily, and shouldn't drink that much. On the upside, I'm a cheap date....

Bobby Vinton? The only man in America to have a hit record where the chorus is sung in Polish.

now Im gonna go crazy trying to figure out who the other two bobby's are!
Blue Moon (who did that originally?)
Up On the Roof (I remember that was done by the Drifters, who else did it?)

I LOVE Mack the Knife, one of my favorite songs of all time. I used to sing that when I was little even though I didn't really understand what the heck he was doing singing about a shark and knives. LOL

Does anyone besides me remember those funny commercials where a moon was sitting at the piano playing the Mack the Knife tune and singing
When the clock strikes
half past six babe,
time to head for
Golden Lights
Its a good time
for the great taste
dinner at Mc Donalds
make it Mac Tonight!
