Ok, so I get to work today in a foul mood and the day gets worse by the second. Then, I get an email setting a meeting at 10. So, while I'm scrambling to get ready for the meeting I have to also put out other various fires. So I gripe the whole time about being so stressed and busy and having to work on Good Friday. We get to the conference room and everyone is asking me what the meeting is about and I go on and on about what I think it is about. Meeting finally starts and my boss says "So, we all know why we are here, you got the memo" And everyone around me shakes their head and I'm like, "uh, I didn't" So, she hands me an envelope and I open it. Inside is a birthday card (my birthday is in August). I think it is for a coworker and start to sign it when I see the Stevie in Vegas banner at the bottom. My office had all chipped in and gotten me a visa gift card as an early birthday so I wouldn't have second thoughts (because I've been on the fence) about going to Vegas. They had put messages like Dreams Do Come True In Vegas under Stevie's banner. On the other side of the card were excerpts from poems that all had the word Dreams in them. I was overwhelmed with gratitude and shock...so, I guess I'm going to Vegas.
I wasn't sure I wanted to spend the money because I saw FM a year ago and had front row seats and was one of the lucky ones who got to shake Stevie's hand at the end of the show and even found a bootleg of that show! (See FM, Greenville, SC bootleg):) It doesn't get any better than that, but I really wanted to see the spectacle of the Vegas shows...anyway, now they made up my mind for me. I think it is totally cool and outrageous and I'm so excited that I had to share.
