I have to admit that i didn't realise she was their spokesmodel or the face of Gap or whatever, but I read yesterday that she has been dropped and is gutted and has been replaced by 17yr old joss stone and I think that sucks.

Apparently it's because she is getting older, but i think she has character and looks damn young anyway and I say gap should be ashamed.

Given some of the other things going on right now it is trivial, but it still sucks.

Joss Stone, ugh.

What an annoying twit. I just got finished burning a copy of the Alfie soundtrack without her embarrassing histrionics and wailing. My bloody ears.

I prefer Sarah Jessica Parker over Joss Stone any day of the week! They were lucky to have such a veteran celebrity as their spokesperson. Whatever!

I'm glad she won't be in them, I was embarrassed for her, and thought the commercials were really bad.

I think Gap has a lot more to be ashamed about.

Isn't that the truth! :distress:

GAP is ok but getting worse, like many clothes companies. I can't even go to Express anymore. NY and CO is getting ****tier and Old Navy, things fall apart after one wash!

SJP is cute and so many WOMEN love her from SATC! I mean who doesn't know her?

Joss Stone is someone that's been shoved down our throats as the next best thing...but it's been a couple years and there isn't anything great about her?!

Dude!!!!   Stawp... :p You know I'm not allowed to call her "fugly". I'm just glad i won't have to see her saying "I enjoy, being a girl, married to a gay man" anymore...

The upside is, she'll still get paid. She has a contract. Lux is right though, too.
You'd be hard pressed to find any clothing made in this country anymore though, unless it's hand made.
I haven't seen one of those ILGWU tags in years. Betsey Johnson used to use American shops for her clothing but even she's been getting away from that lately.

Well, I just thought he was, maybe he's not. ok, I don't think she's very pretty, never have. But within the parameters of the "girl coalition", I'm not supposed to bag heavily on other girls looks. I'm supposed to support them, cause we shouldn't be judged on our looks. See? It's just part of bieng a cool girl, is to be nice to other girls.

Matthew Broderick is a Mary, no question about it. He should wear a collar that says "Nathan Lane's Bitch" on it.

Isn't that how I described Ewan McGregor? Yup, he's still ass. :p

She's not classically beautiful or anything, but she has an allure to her and an understated natural beauty to me.

Well I did not know that about Ferris. Learn something new everyday

They're always all over each other, it cracks me up. Broderick even came to Boston when Lane was headlining the Huntington. They're lovers for sure!

Where's your gaydar, dude? If I suspected, and you didn't.... :distress: And remember, I was on the fence about Tom Cruise forevah! Now, of course, i'm sad to know he's gay, but....
And, by the way, nice is overrated, but I try to steer clear of looks, and just comment about personality, cause you can't help how you look, and i wouldn't want to be judged on that. ok, well, I would, but you shouldn't anyway.... :) I'm just sorry Broderick doesn't have better taste... *shudder*

I still think of Sarah Jessica Parker as that nerdy girl on Square Pegs. Guess that dates my age

I rather see young kids like the American Idol contestants do those commercials. Hey my kids are available and they are cute too

I have a friend who saw her on the street in New York City, to put it nicely, he said lighting and makeup are VERY kind to her.

Oh god, I'm such a failure at being gay...LOL I can NEVER tell :p
I see your point on the not judging on looks, which I TRY not to do, but it's just too hard. Especially when someone looks like Mr. Ed.

That's what I've heard, too. :( I feel bad for her, cause she is so light skinned, it would be hard to age well... :distress: But then, her boyfriend is gay, so...she should be looking round the yard anyways, I'm sure she can find someone there...

TWYMF!!!!!
I didn't say it, though. I've just never been a fan of "skinny face, big nose"...
'course, she's probably prettier than me, so...oh, wait...wait...no, she might not be! Bwah!
heh, just kidding...she's got a nice, slim bod... :) And she is very talented...etc, etc...

It disgusts me. It's impossible to avoid everything product and brand which violates human rights during production but we should be giving **** to the ones we know about. It's a great place to start and to promote the message of intolerance for this behaviour. It's one thing you can avoid, just don't buy from Gap people! In fact, go and put a sign of protest out the front of the store.

I don't shop there, never have. I've never liked the clothes.

I have this one long black tank dress I got there years ago, and it's like my dream garment. Looked good when i was thinner, looks good now. Tank. Long. Black. I love it.

I love their clothes. I just got a pair of jeans there that fit me like a glove. Where are the clothes made? F*ck I hate this BS. You would never know by the price tag that these clothes are made in sweat shops.

I never saw the ad with SJP, was it as bad as Madonna's?

I am just pissed because i find joss stone annoying and soulless and seems everyone thinks she os amazing because she is so young... i think SJP is cute and so what if she has a nose!!! so many hollywood actresses have stupidly small snouts.. nice to see a woman with a real nose for once!!

I like Gap jeans.. the ones i have.. but I don't have any other clothes they make

How the heck do you ensure everything you buy is made fairly?? Impossible?

I did some research and they seem to be cleaning up their act. However, not only have they used sweatshops, the family that owns The Gap has clearcutted some forrest areas. :distress: Corporate is the devil. Check out http://www.gapsucks.org. Their stuff even seems out of date though, like the articles criticizing The Gap are old. Maybe they've gotten better? I sure hope so.

I did read that Gap submitted a candid report about conditions in '04 that was well-received by watch groups due to its transparency. They seem to be trying, here's some of their own documentation. http://www.gapinc.com/social_resp/ifpr.htm
