View Full Version : On The Fence About Vegas?

This from the nicksfix:
Star 102.7 (80s Music): Stevie said the Vegas shows would have to be much bigger and flamboyant than a normal show, something that would be too much to take on the road. She talked about seeing both Celine and Elton at the Colosseum and being amazed at the massive size of the stage. She also discussed how she will pick songs for the show (lots of discussion with input from her associates) and said that she will be bringing out a lot of her old costumes that she hasn't worn in years. She also promised lots of spinning (the DJ wanted to make sure that would be part of the show).
Sigh... Las Vegas, flamboyant, old costumes and perhaps some old songs OR a cruise to Ensenada... I SERIOUSLY cannot make up my mind and this latest bit of info has made it even HARDER! AARRRGGGHH!!!! Stevie why do you TORTURE fence sitters?!

Ensenada will always be there.
If you are from the great northwest (as am I, originally) you will probably enjoy Ensenada more if you go when it's cold and dreary at home... you don't want to miss springtime up there! you are not cancelling an exciting trip... you could just postpone it. hope this helps :)

It's more of a money thing... I need to win the lottery. And the cruise is with a bunch from work, so I don't think I could talk them into postponing, unless they want to go to Vegas with me. ya-uh-huh... that would NEVER happen. I am in the NW, so you know about the drearies. Even planning a sunny vacation brings hope.

Unless Stevie is just pulling our leg, I'm thinking these Vegas shows are going to be huge! Something we have never really seen before. Certainly the fact that it is an intimate environment but still has a big theatrical stage will create a once in a lifetime show. I'd go to Vegas if I were you. Imagine how pissed you'll be if she sings one of your favorite old songs that she has never done before.
There is one thing that I was thinking. If these shows are a hit and sell out Stevie may do this as a regular thing whenever Celine and Elton are on vacation. If she likes this then maybe she will do it every year for a week? Who knows!
All I know is that I have a decent ticket (third row from the stage, but a little too far to the left for my taste!) and need to start making travel plans! I'm sort of nervous going to Vegas all by lonesome, but oh well! There is a first time for everything.

Update on my Fence Situation:
Of the 4 ladies planning to go on this Mexican cruise, one still has not confirmed a cabinmate and she says she cannot afford the trip without one, another says she doesn't have enough vacation time accrued but would take leave without pay even tho she can't really afford to and I don't know what the story is on the third one, BUT... we were supposed to book the cruise this coming Saturday and that date has been pushed back by THREE WEEKS!!! Since two of these ladies just took their first cruise 4 months ago, maybe they have "cruise-itis" and are going to cancel this trip because the "new" is wearing off of the experience!!
So I find myself secretly hoping they WILL eventually cancel even booking the cruise. If they do, I am SOOOOOOOOOOOO going to Vegas!! I don't care how much the airfare costs and I don't care how bad of a seat I get because I KNOW there aren't any seats behind the stage. The IMAX screen and the live sound will be enough for me.
Maybe I'll tempt fate and let the ladies know it's okay if they change their minds cuz Stevie's getting ready to bust out the wardrobe cases. :D

A cruise will always be available to you, but Stevie won't! So what if your companions flake out on you? Let them know that their indecisiveness has pushed you to Vegas...which trip will you regret not taking??? Your friends will understand!
Also, desertangel, you are in the Great NW like me, and I have only a 2 hour plane trip to Vegas, that should only cost about $500 for plane and hotel on hotels.com or other sites that give me hotel/plane discounts...think about it before you go (on a cruise)
Also, for every one Ledgie that shows up, another kinda-fan will stay home (how's that for logic?) We should all be there, chiffon and everything!

Yeah, I'm 16 and was going to be going alone as a last resort but I managed to convince my mom to go with me (and trust me, it wasn't easy to convince her!) So I'll be going to the Friday night show by myself with my third row ticket and then will get a couple of decent seats for the Saturday show for my Mom and myself. I am almost thinking it would be really fun to sit in the Mezannine on the second night. If this show is as theatrical as Stevie said with a big Imax Screen it may be cool to have an arial view of the stage, you know?

Whenever my husband goes to FM or Stevie show's with me (which is rare) but when he does go he always wants to sit quite a few rows back because he wants to see the whole stage, all the band members and the whole show, (and get his money's worth as he puts it) while I get a ticket for myself in the front row.

Well take a look at the inside of the place. This is a plush broadway theatre style arena. No one will be standing- I'm pretty sure it would be completely inappropriate. I'm just going to do whatever the people around me are doing. I don't want to ruin anyone's night by standing up the whole time. This does not seem like the kind of thing you would stand up during. That is the impression I get at least. They're not going to let five million people stand at the side of the stage. This is an actual theatre....

I agree with Christopher. By the way, I hate the people with no class who ruin everyone else's experience by being drunk, or standing in the aisles and dancing when no one else is, because it gets in the way. A little deviation fron the norm is okay, but be we need to be respectful of the others. I sure all Ledgies are very polite at concerts, but idiots do buy tickets...and beer...

Exactly if you are the only person standing up and dancing in your section it is distracting to everyone else. Especially if you are obviously drunk. I'm sure no one on this message board would behave that way though... drunk concert goers are the worst!
I just think if the crowd is sitting down acting as if this is theatre and not a rock concert then don't make an ass of yourself by standing up and doing the Stevie hand motions and dance moves. I can enjoy the show either way so it is no skin off my nose whether people stand or not.

But I wouldn't be saying this under normal circumstances, the theatre is just so different then most arenas. It is very posh and looks like something from the days of yore. It is not a rock and roll type place. I'll be thrilled if the audience treats this show like a rock concert and stands through most of the songs (I prefer that), but I'm not expecting that and I don't want to ruin anyone's good time.

Well, Celine's music is very different from Stevie's. I think we're all going to have to just wait and see how it is. I doubt it will be like the Say You Will tour, but I also doubt Stevie is going to go all-out theatrical a la Celine or that the entire audience is going to remain seated for the duration of the show. It doesn't really matter how fancy the theatre looks; what matters is the tempo and feel of the show and how the artist says he or she wants it to run before the security & usher staff is briefed for the event. Maybe I'm optimistic, but I bet they'll end up being not much different from many of the Trouble In Shangri-La shows.

Eh, those who want to sit on their asses during a rock concert can bite me. I refused to sit on my ass when I saw Cyndi Lauper and Cher, and if I were going to Vegas, I'd tell all the lazy bums planted on their keisters to put up or shut up. More power to those who are going and want to ENJOY A ROCK CONCERT AS IT SHOULD BE ENJOYED.

I have no problemo with standing but I swear I read somewhere on the Caesars site that this is a "no standing" venue? I stood at every single show I went to, didn't really want to sit down honestly. However, I think this venue with this kind of ticketholder..we will be told to sit. Realistically, only a small percentage of people wil be Ledgies.
One thing that did annoy me was when I paid four hundred bucks for a second row seat and people from WAY back planted their butts in front of me at the stage. But, such is concert life. I am going to go with the flow

Funny you put it that way. At the Aladdin for TISL the people who stood during the show were few and far between because they were always being yelled at to sit down. I'd say most of the show was a sit down thing, but I do remember people rushing the stage (or trying to) for Edge. That venue was not as posh as Caesar's, either. It's an auditorium/theatre on a smaller scale.

I would've told them to go f*ck themselves, just as I did at the Mohegan Sun when I saw Cyndi and Cher. I paid my money, as long as I'm not drunk and being totally obnoxious, I'll stand and sway and sing at my own leisure. And no one will tell me otherwise.

Oy, the crowd at the Aladdin was so very annoying. We had a couple behind us that had to be at least in their 70's. 'Rollerhigher' abnoxiousness (is that a word?) at it's worst. I honestly believe they had never even heard who Stevie was before that night. The woman said something like, "well she certainly has a unique voice". Anyway, they kept telling us to sit down all night. Even during songs like Stand Back, and they were the only ones left sitting  . At one point they even got security to 'handle us'.
Vegas crowds piss me off so bad that it's not even funny.

I'm fine with sitting and I'm fine with standing. I prefer to stand but it really doesn't look appropriate for this kind of venue. We'll have to wait and see what the "mood" of the show is. I'm not going to make a jack ass out of myself and stand and "sway" to the music if every single other person around me is sitting down. Hopefully the crowd won't be too lame though. To tell you the truth I really don't care. I'm there to see Stevie Nicks and this is a once in a lifetime thing! That is all that matters to me. I'm not going to let the audience members sitting/standing habits effect my good time.

Oh-Mah-GAHD... I am sooo NOT liking the sounds of this. I HAVE to stand at a concert at least every third song or my a*s will fall asleep. The very first STevie concert I went to, trying to stay in my seat was literally IMPOSSIBLE. It might not be that way now, I don't know... but if she did Sisters of the Moon.. there is NO WAY I could stay in my seat. No POSSIBLE way. So you all are scaring me with this talk of maybe having to stay seated. I'm starting to go back the other direction....
Oh and guess what? I got an invitation in the mail today for my nieces' wedding. She's getting married near Placerville, which is a really cool and quaint old mining town in northern California. The ceremony is being held at a winery. They're both art students that met over ice cream ( :xoxo: ) I REALLY need a winning lottery ticket to cover the expense of all these little outings that are piling up. :(
Sigh... so many parties, so little money.

I'm from Placerville. :D Which winery? Boeger? I see your point of sitting down, I agree, but I'm gonna tough it out.

I swear I read somewhere on the Caesars site that this is a "no standing" venue?
I just perused Ceasar's site and didn't find anything. I did notice that on the Ticketmaster pages for Celine's shows, they specify "Late patrons will be seated at first break" next to the no cameras note; but that's not on Stevie's Ticketmaster pages. That suggests to me that they are aware this is a less formal show and will probably enforce less strict crowd control. Let's hope that's the case, at least. I'm not a dancer but I like to stand.

I would've told them to go f*ck themselves, just as I did at the Mohegan Sun when I saw Cyndi and Cher. I paid my money, as long as I'm not drunk and being totally obnoxious, I'll stand and sway and sing at my own leisure. And no one will tell me otherwise.
I certainly used choice words when we were at the first Aladdin show and people were shouting and throwing stuff at us to sit down. Heck.. I had just flown in from the UK that day and gone straight to the venue. I'd had no sleep in over 24 hours and I'm come a bloody long way to see Stevie! No way i could sit!

Yea..I looked too and can't find where I read that. I do hope we can stand, I am just doubtful.

Must you all talk about me when I'm not here? How do you know I was distracting? :p
I am also thinking we won't be standing, maybe we'll get lucky for a few tunes (I just can't see everyone sitting through Stand Back.) I will leave the tambo at home guys. But damn it, I know I can perfect chair dancing by the time these shows roll around! And hand motions can easily be done seated, so no worries there! *hoping for I Can't Wait mostly so she can do the hand dancing from the video*
As for the Edge stage rush - has there ever been a show that this didn't happen? Really, if I have a chance to shake this woman's hand, I'm going for it. Opening night may be tough, as I'm sure security will be jerky at first. Hopefully Stevie's people talk to the Caesar's people & let them know we are not rushing up there to attack her.
I hope she'll tell them "if you f*ck with my people, I'm going to get real f*cking angry!"

No, not me. I hope it's a "no standing" venue. I won't have to break the legs of all those antsy dancing brats.
Standing is for welfare lines. Sitting comfortably is for concerts!
THIS IS A NO-STAND ZONE!!

Of course you won't be standing. I thought the entire audience was going to be sitting on your lap?
Don't know how comfortable that's gonna be. :D
