Christy sent me the article from TVShowsOnDVD.com and it said American Gothic comes out on October 25th. I? Am ecstatic. I can finally trash my crappy videos. It's truly the best show ever. The last few episodes were kind of limp after they fired Weber and replaced him with the most uncharismatic actor in the world, but up until then, it was greatness. Gary Cole was so ****ing scary.

Wendigo is one of my top five favorite movies. Him and Patricia Clarkson are superb in it.

Meh. Rented the DVD. The script was lousy. Acting was good. Two things that threw it into the "meh" category:

1) The Wendigo marionette.

2) Having to suffer through watching Weber and Clarkson rut on the couch. Yes, seeing his ass was nice, but not in this context.

Annnnnnnnnd the director is a weirdo-psycho with REALLY bad teeth. Jeezus, it's the 21st century- brush your teeth and go to the dentist for ****ssake!!

I liked the script, thought it was great. But it was what the actors did with it that I really loved. Bite me. :p

1) The Wendigo marionette.

I'll give you that, but c'mon, it was a cheapie independent affair.

Meh. The script was too vague. Anytime something is based on a little kid's closet boogeyman, you know relativity goes right out the window.

Bite me. :p
Don't tempt me.

I understand that, but if they want to communicate fear and dread, cheezy marionettes are not the way to pull it off. Better to use nothing and have the absence of the visual + acting + script convey the fear.

Seeing his ass is nice in any context. Whatchoo smokin', Willis?

Sorry. Seeing him getting it on with some chick is not a turn-on for me- no matter what I'm smoking, Arnold.

I think he's waaaaaaay beyond the help of Crest Whitestrips. He needs tooth extraction and dentures. I can just imagine what his breath smells like.

That's the thing, it wasn't based on a little kid's closet boogeyman. It was Miles, the kid, using the legend of the Wendigo to "explain" and put a face on the things that he was too afraid of facing and dealing with. The prospect of a crazy hick shooting his father in cold blood wasn't something that he was prepared to deal with, so he put a mask on it, in the form of the Wendigo. The scene where George said people make up certain things to understand the world better did a perfect job of conveying it.

The fact that all of it was so vague enthralled me, personally.

Don't tempt me.

:p

I didn't have a problem with it. Yeah, the stick figure was cheesy, but the whole movie was from the perspective of the kid and his imagination. I thought it worked well.

Sorry. Seeing him getting it on with some chick is not a turn-on for me- no matter what I'm smoking, Arnold.

Understandable. Didn't you say recently that the thought of having sex with a woman made you ralph?

But then the whole thing with the hick crashing his car and the native american dude who "wasn't there". A little too much of a Stephen King ripoff if you ask me.

Are we sure he didn't see himself and his choppers in a mirror and mistake the image before him for a Wendigo?

But then the whole thing with the hick crashing his car and the native american dude who "wasn't there". A little too much of a Stephen King ripoff if you ask me.

It was all in the kids imagination. Throughout the first half, his parents make quite a few references to him making things up all the time; his mother says it's to get attention because his father doesn't pay any mind to him. The bit with the hick crashing his car and being stalked by the Wendigo was dreamt up by the kid after he passed out in the hospital. That last scene of Otis being wheeled in on a gurney was just the continuation of that after he found out his father had died (I don't care what anyone says, that shot of his boots in the hallway of the hospital was heartbreaking :p ).

The boots symbolized him having to step into his father's shoes now that he's gone. That's the one shot that struck me hard when I first saw it, I think it's perfect. That and the scene when the father and son are walking to go sledding. Words can't describe how perfect I think those scenes are.

That's the human Ken, I think this belong's to it. It's called BDD, Body Dysmorphic Disorder, (they were on Oprah). Christ, there's a name for everything these days.

And this just scares me. It makes me want to hide beneath my blankets and cry. How horrible. I hope I never have to meet these people in person because I'd run away screaming. I hate clowns and people in costumes...this is even worse.

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Actors Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher were married on Saturday, capping their celebrated two-year-long older woman, younger man relationship, two celebrity magazines reported on Sunday.

Representatives for Kutcher, 27, and Moore, 42, could not be immediately reached for comment, but both Us Weekly and People magazine reported on their Web sites that the couple were married in Los Angeles area on Saturday.

Us Weekly reported that the wedding was attended by about 100 of the couple's friends, including Moore's second husband Bruce Willis. Also at the wedding were actress Lucy Liu and Moore's three daughters from her marriage to Willis.

Moore, who starred in "Ghost," "G.I. Jane" and "Striptease," first began dating the younger Kutcher in 2003, just as she was making a highly publicized return to the screen as a high-kicking villain in "Charlie's Angeles: Full Throttle."

Kutcher, whose break came as a star in television's "That '70s Show," is co-creator of the MTV reality show "Punk'd." His films include "Guess Who" in 2005 and "Dude, Where's My Car?" in 2000.

It was the first marriage for Kutcher and third for Moore. She was married from 1980 to 1984 to rock musician Freddie Moore and from 1987 to 2000 to Willis.

People Magazine said Kutcher and Moore met at a dinner in New York City in 2003. After Kutcher began dating Moore, the magazine said "he quickly carved out a place in the lives of her three daughters by Willis -- Rumer, 17; Scout, 14; and Tallulah, 11 --who came to embrace Kutcher as a third parent, affectionately calling him MOD, short for 'My Other Dad."'

The relationship between Moore and Kutcher has been seen by some in Hollywood as evidence of a liberating new trend in which older American women are dating younger men, challenging the traditional convention of May-December romances.

Yes. 90 minutes I'll never get back. I saw it in the theater over a year ago and it still stands out in my mind as one of the worst things I've ever seen. Those who say it's good are blowing smoke up your ass in an attempt to make themselves look like intellectuals; you wouldn't believe how many people praise it and call it a masterpiece. The must all have the same crack dealer. The blow job, surprisingly, was integral to the movie (not that I cared much by that point), but I found the way it was done to be cheap. I was quite embarrassed for Sevigny. Gallo is such an unlikable piece of **** to begin with, so watching anything with him is pure hell, but this was especially trying considering that the whole thing is mostly following him around on a road trip.

McCready OD's Again

by Charlie Amter
Sep 24, 2005, 8:05 AM PT

For the second time in two months country singer Mindy McCready has been hospitalized for a drug overdose. And like before, the Friday morning incident appears to have been a suicide attempt.

According to police reports, the "Guys Do It All the Time" singer was admitted to a Nashville hospital after ingesting more than two dozen antidepressants following a fight with the father of her unborn child.

McCready was listed in fair condition as of late Friday and is expected to make a full recovery. No immediate word on the condition of the fetus.

Per police reports, the troubled 29-year-old and her on-again, off-again boyfriend, William McKnight, were engaged in a heated spat over the phone regarding McKnight's financial commitment to McCready and their child.

Unhappy with his level of support, the singer reportedly proceeded to ingest around 30 pills.

Knowing his girlfriend's past behavior, the 38-year-old McKnight called authorities.

His call may have saved McCready's life. Paramedics apparently found the overdosed singer around 4 a.m. Friday at her Tennessee home.

Just this past Monday, the onetime country chart-topper revealed she tried to commit suicide earlier this summer because she found out she was pregnant.

McCready was in court to explain a string of behavior that left her in the hospital and then in jail, and to appeal the terms of her bail.

She was arrested in Florida after officials in Williamson County, Tennessee, issued a warrant last month. According to the warrant, McCready left the state without permission and failed to contact her probation officer during the month of July.

McCready said she went to Florida to be with her family after months of trouble.

Her decline from country star to police-blotter material becan a year ago, when she was charged with fraudulently obtaining the painkiller OxyContin.

McCready, who claimed she was trying to score the pills for a friend, eventually pleaded guilty and was slapped with a $4,000 fine, sentenced to three years of supervised probation and ordered to complete 200 hours of community service.

On May 6, the former Nashville darling was stopped for speeding and wound up being charged with drunken driving and driving with a suspended license, which earned her first probation violation.

Two days after her DUI arrest, McCready was beaten and almost choked to death by McKnight, who allegedly ambushed the singer in her home. He was later charged with attempted murder as a result of the altercation.

Within a month, she was charged in Arizona on counts including unlawful use of transportation, unlawful imprisonment and hindering prosecution stemming from an incident involving a stolen pickup truck. She claims she was duped by a con man and mistakenly charged.

By the end of June, she learned she was with child, and that's when she took off to the Sunshine State. "I attempted to commit suicide after I found out," she told Judge Jeff Bivins, per the Nashville Tennessean. "I had just been through a horrible ordeal."

The father is said to be McKnight, who was in Florida at the time of her suicide attempt. He told police the couple had reconciled since the alleged assault. He also handed over her suicide note.

McCready was arrested and jailed in Florida on Aug. 26. She was transferred to a Tennessee lockup a week later and was allowed out on $50,000 bond a week ago. Prosecutors said one of the reasons she was permitted to leave jail was because of complications in her pregnancy.

The singer has already missed two court dates in Arizona due to her hospitalization and subsequent jailing. A judge has rescheduled her arraignment for Oct. 3, but it's not clear if McCready will be permitted--or physically able--to leave Tennessee.

She's due back in Williamson County court Nov. 14 to face her probation-violation charges.

Meryl Streep is one class act and by far the best actress of her generation as far as I am concerned. I am a huge fan and seen all of her movies since I was a little girl. I saw Silkwood when I was about 6 years old and was completely moved and mesmerized my her performance. It doesn't get much better than that! I think she is stunning and also reminds me of Stevie in certain ways...They are around the same age, classy, beautiful but not in the classic sense, and extremely talented at what they do. They both have kind, loving, gentle eyes.

Unfortunately there was an awards dinner on TV in honor of Meryl Streep last year and I went to record it so I could see her being honored by her peers and I accidentally recorded over my Stevie/FM video collection with every video she's ever done. I cried my eyes out for days and I'm still not over it. I never watched the awards ceremony....

Silkwood is my favorite from The Streep. I think it's a fantastic movie. She's certainly one of the best actresses, even if I haven't cared much for her in the past ten years. My problem with her is that every one of her performances is so good that after years and years of them, she begins to come across as very self-aware and studied with each new role. She's still amazing, though.

There's something about her face that is irresistible. I can't put my finger on it, but it's very comforting and it's beautiful in a very odd way.

Recently, her parts are seemingly more rote than brilliant. But, they are still very very good compared to most.

There are so many of her performances I cherish: among many (and the already mentioned) The French Lieutenant's Woman, Kramer Vs Kramer, Postcards from the Edge, Adaptation, Angels In America. I agree, sometimes she seems not too give everything or chooses unimpressing characters, but even in a movie I didn't like, The Bridges Of Madison County, she' was able to create pure magic, like in the scene under the rain. So beautiful.

I got to see part of Silkwood being filmed! The Dairy Queen scene was filmed here in TC - the franchise is long-gone, and the building is now a junk shop. It's kinda sad.

The corvette scenes from Terms of Endearment were also filmed here.

I got to stand about a block away and watch the Silkwood filming, but you couldn't get anywhere near the Terms set. Heavy, heavy security, rumored to have been requested by Shirley McClaine.

Romy

As I said my favorite performance of hers by far was Silkwood but I also loved her in Sophie's choice. She reminds me of a young Stevie in this movie, when Stevie was in her early 30's before the cocaine really kicked in.
Did you guys ever see Sophie's choice? What a powerful film! How could you not fall in love with Meryl in this movie...

Belive it or not The Bridges of Madison County happens to be one of my favorite movies of all time *hides face*. I'm a sucker for a true love story and I loved the book before the movie ever came out.

I think it, like that war time burned man in the sand movie that won all the Academy awards - these were such chick stuff. Few guys I know like them or got the sentimental nature of them. I thought they were both horribly boring - but to each their own

I worked better as a play. I liked the mini series, but readily confess it was painstakingly long - The actors though were superb IMO.

It was sort of based on Jung's theory of synchronicity, which, roughly, is seemingly unrelated events simultaneously happening in a somewhat related way.

I watched about 25 minutes of the first part and it was so didactic and dreary I wanted to gouge my eyes out. I opted to change the channel. My bf was furious. He went home to watch it.

I thought he was hysterial - I mean he mirrored the guy who played the part on Broadway as that part, like the man, was created as a loud mouthed New Yorker. Interestingly. I thought the play bordered on hystrionic as well, but that was the point.

I saw the play, too, and enjoyed it much more than the movie. The histrionics work well onstage, but it's utterly laughable when the actors in the movie try to play it up as if they were onstage. Nearly everyone in that **** miniseries embarrassed themselves, it was truly a spectacle. It only won all of those awards because of the subject matter (those "Hollywood liberals" were creaming themselves over it), Mike Nichols, and because it had the likes of Al "I haven't given a good performance in nearly twenty years" Pacino, Meryl Streep, and Emma Thomspon in it. It didn't help matters that it came off as pretentious swill.

NEW YORK - Donald Trump's empire keeps on expanding, but his newest addition is on the home front. Norma Foerderer, a Trump spokeswoman, confirmed a report Tuesday that the 59-year-old real estate mogul-TV reality star's wife, Melania, is pregnant.

"The baby is due in the spring," said Foerderer, adding that the child's gender is not yet known.

It would be the first child for the 35-year-old model and commercial actress, who lived with Trump for three years before they exchanged vows in January.

Melania, who has appeared in numerous print ads and graced the covers of Vogue and British GQ magazines, is Trump's third wife. He has four children from his previous marriages: Donald Jr., 27; Ivanka, 23; and Eric, 21, with first wife Ivana Trump, and Tiffany, 11, with second wife Marla Maples.

Trump and his Slovenian-born bride were married in Palm Beach, Fla. The setting for their opulent reception was Trump's $42 million Versailles-inspired ballroom at his Mar-a-Lago estate and club.

The New York Post, which first reported the news about the pregnancy, said the mother-to-be planned to spend time recuperating at Mar-a-Lago after giving birth.

Trump's NBC reality show, "The Apprentice," is now in its fourth season.

Cooper flooded with book offers, but charity reigns

It looks like Anderson Cooper, the prematurely silver-maned CNN anchor who won plaudits for his searing coverage of Hurricane Katrina, is about to sign a rich book deal to write about his journalistic adventures.

The furious bidding - which has involved Hyperion, HarperCollins and Rodale Press, among others - hit $1 million last week, and I hear that Cooper's agent, Luke Janklow, is getting close to crossing t's and dotting i's with a generous publisher.

Yesterday, a publishing insider told me that Cooper's book - a professional memoir spanning the year from the December tsunami to Katrina to Hurricane Rita - is being sold without an outline, a formal proposal or even a paragraph on paper.

"It's 'We saw you on TV, we saw you get very emotional, we love you, here's the money!'" said the insider.

As befits a guy who's being marketed as "a journalist with a heart," Cooper, I'm told, plans to donate "a significant portion of the proceeds" to charity - including funds for victims of the hurricanes and other natural disasters.

Brad Pitt to adopt Angelina's children

Friday, December 2, 2005; Posted: 10:22 p.m. EST (03:22 GMT)

LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- Brad Pitt is seeking to become the adoptive father of Angelina Jolie's children, the actor's publicist announced Friday.

A legal petition seeking to change the names of the children to Zahara Jolie-Pitt and Maddox Jolie-Pitt was filed Friday in Los Angeles, publicist Cindy Guagenti said in a written statement to The Associated Press.

"We are confirming that Brad Pitt is in the process of becoming the adoptive father of both children," the statement said. "No further comment is being made."

The couple has been romantically linked since the filming of "Mr. & Mrs. Smith."

For months, rumors have been circulating about the extent of Jolie's off-screen relationship with Pitt. Photos published in the July 11 issue of People show Jolie standing near her England estate while Pitt rides a dirt bike with Maddox, 4. Other photos show Pitt, Jolie and Maddox at Luton Airport outside London.

Both children were adopted by Jolie. Zahara is just under a year old.

Pitt and Jennifer Aniston announced their separation in January, and Aniston filed for divorce in March, citing irreconcilable differences. The divorce became final in October. Pitt, 41, has denied Jolie, 30, was the reason for the split.

As for Brangelina, what a sideways method of announcing your relationship. And what a shameful way to exploit a child. Not that the kid hasn't been a prop for years. Parental rights ? Are they going to go through the bother of marriage ? Ahh, too expensive. Too risky. Someone out there tell me the commitment to the kid will last, and then let's wait 15 years. Hollywood.

This will be one good looking kid, I tells ya:

http://www.cnn.com/2005/SHOWBIZ/Music/12/20/people.gwenstefani.ap/index.html

NEW YORK (AP) -- Gwen Stefani, nominated for five Grammy Awards including album of the year for "Love.Angel.Music.Baby.," is pregnant with her first child, according to Us Weekly.

The 36-year-old pop star and Gavin Rossdale, 38, were married three years ago. The baby is due in June, the magazine reported Tuesday.

"We are delighted," Us Weekly quotes Rossdale's father, Douglas, as saying. Stefani's mother, Patti, also reportedly confirmed the pregnancy to the magazine.

An e-mail from The Associated Press to Stefani's representative wasn't immediately returned Tuesday.

Rossdale has a 16-year-old daughter, Daisy Lowe, from his relationship with fashion designer Pearl Lowe. He discovered he was the father in 2004 after taking a DNA test.

"Love.Angel.Music.Baby." is Stefani's first solo album. It includes one of the biggest songs of the year, "Hollaback Girl." That infectious single also earned Stefani a nomination for record of the year and best female pop vocal performance.

She is the lead singer of No Doubt and a budding fashion designer.

The British-born Rossdale fronted the rock band Bush, which released the popular 1994 album, "Sixteen Stone." They last released the 2001 album, "Golden State," as well as a greatest hits CD in November.

You know, there isn't a school for parents. When you have kids for the first time there is no real preparation. Yes you can get advice but unless you have experienced it you don't know how good you are I would believe (not being a parent myself).

I don't think it's an issue of "they shouldn't be parents". You can't make a choice like that regardless of how somebody is as a person, otherwise you could be talking about a "master race". Unless we have control of breeding it is anybody's right to have children, regardless of how poor, stupid, wreckless etc, they are.

But, the point for me is this. Clearly they have no idea how to parent a child but they do have the resources to make sure the child is taken care of. Means such as a 24 hour a day nanny, professional help etc. The fact they they haven't thought about the situation and basically used their wealth to buy help is the biggest crime here. Britney may be extremely stupid but there should have been other people that would have known better in such situations that could have been employed.

I see your point. But if your baby had a fall that was hard enough to fracture his skull don't you think you would notice it was extreme and take him to the emergency room? Maybe I'm making an assumption that it was obvious that the fall was an emergency situation.

One more thing, since Paula is grieving and may not think to post this, I will quote her, "I f*cking hate her. She's a pig." - Paula T. 4/05.

Well I would take the baby to an emergency room but I have the disadvantage of not being an overrated dumb blonde celebrity. If I was I think it would be perfectly normal to not see the dangers...

Awww, thanks Suze. :xoxo: Always there for me.

The kid FELL? From his high chair? It's called a HIGH chair cuz it's HIGH off the ground, Britney, you asshole. Any fall from that height can cause severe injury for a baby. A baby's skull is not fused completely, so any fall is dangerous. What a douche. What did she do, put him in the chair without securing him? Anyways, why isn't her mommy taking care of Sean Preston? I figure she'd be right there.

And I recently heard that Jessica Simpson wanted to adopt? Sweet Jeebus.

The nanny was in charge at the time.. so I have read..

And something snapped on the chair as she was trying to get him out and he slipped out and fell.. how terrible.

In her defense though.. it REALLY could happen to anyone.. and the nanny was the one who had the child at that time anyway.. But who's to say if something is going to break and go wrong. :shrugs: These are things that just happen sometimes I guess..

You're right, things like this happen all the time. I had read reports that they didn't take him to the ER until a week after the incident, which alarms me. But, like Jaz said, it's all gossip & we certainly can't believe everything we hear or read.

Anna Nicole Smith: 'Yes, I am pregnant'

NEW YORK (AP) -- Anna Nicole Smith has confirmed that she's pregnant, in a video clip posted on her Web site.

"Let me stop all the rumors. Yes, I am pregnant. I'm happy, I'm very very happy about it. Everything's goin' really, really good and I'll be checking in and out periodically on the Web and I'll let you see me as I'm growing," the 38-year-old former reality TV star and Playboy playmate says.

Smith, who is floating on an inflatable raft in a swimming pool as a small white dog barks in the background, did not provide any details.

Her lawyer and spokesman, Howard K. Stern, could not be reached by The Associated Press on Thursday for comment.

Early last month, there were reports that Smith was expecting a baby. Stern issued a written statement saying, "If Anna Nicole is pregnant, she obviously doesn't want anybody to know yet.

"If she's not pregnant, she's not denying the rumor because she thinks it's funny how much of a stir it's causing. She'll leave it up to you to guess which one it is."

Smith has a 20-year-old son, Daniel, from her first marriage.

She married Texas oil tycoon J. Howard Marshall II in 1994, when she was 26 and he was 89. He died the following year. Since then, she has feuded with Marshall's son, Pierce Marshall, over her entitlement to the tycoon's estate.

Smith won a judgment from the Supreme Court last month that allows her to continue to seek part of Marshall's fortune.

From CNN.com:

Carmen Electra, Dave Navarro to split

Tuesday, July 18, 2006; Posted: 9:20 a.m. EDT (13:20 GMT)

LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- "'Til Death Do Us Part" -- not quite.

Actress Carmen Electra and musician Dave Navarro are "amicably separating," Electra's publicist, Brit Reece, said Monday.

Reece would not elaborate on the reasons behind the split.

Former "Baywatch" star Electra and former Jane's Addiction and Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist Navarro documented their 2003 wedding on MTV's "'Til Death Do Us Part: Carmen & Dave."

The sexy pair met on a blind date, and "it was love at first sight," Electra told The Associated Press during an interview in 2004.

Navarro currently co-hosts the CBS talent competition "Rock Star."
