Then I, puff, puff, am clearly shouldering more than my fair share of the burden.

Oh why NOT --
Martha: I swear to GOD George, if you even EXISTED I'd divorce you.
Honey: I dance like the wind.
Martha: Look, sweetheart, I can drink you under any goddamn table you want, so don't worry about me.
Honey: Oh, I don't know, a little brandy maybe. "Never mix, never worry!"
George: Martha? Rubbing alcohol for you?
Martha: Sure! "Never mix, never worry!"
[Martha has changed into an embarrassingly tight and revealing outfit]
George: Why Martha! Your Sunday chapel dress!
Martha: I hope that was an empty bottle, George! You can't afford to waste good liquor, not on YOUR salary!
George: All I said was that our son, the apple of our three eyes, Martha being a cyclops, our son is a beanbag, and you get testy!
Honey: They dance like they've danced before.
George: It's a familiar dance, monkey nipples, they both know it.
Martha: You make me puke.
George: That wasn't a very nice thing to say, Martha.
George: Martha, in my mind you're buried in cement right up to the neck. No, up to the nose, it's much quieter.
Nick: To you, everybody's a flop. Your husband's a flop, I'm a flop.
Martha: You're all flops. I am the Earth Mother, and you are all flops.
Nick: I'm tired, I've been drinking since nine o'clock, my wife is vomiting, there's been a lot of screaming going on around here!
George: So you get testy, naturally, don't worry about it! Anybody who comes here ends up getting testy, it's expected. Don't be upset.
Nick: I'm not upset.
George: You're testy.
Nick: Yes.
George: Martha is 108...years old. She weighs somewhat more than that.
Nick: Who did the painting?
George: Some Greek with a moustache that Martha attacked one night.
George: Martha, will you show her where we keep the, uh, euphemism?
George: Vanish!
Martha: I disgust me. You know, there's only been one man in my whole life who's ever made me happy. Do you know that?
[pause]
Martha: George, my husband ...George, who is out somewhere there in the dark, who is good to me - whom I revile, who can keep learning the games we play as quickly as I can change them. Who can make me happy and I do not wish to be happy. Yes, I do wish to be happy. George and Martha: Sad, sad, sad. Whom I will not forgive for having come to rest; for having seen me and having said: yes, this will do.

I read it somewhere awhile back. I cannot remember where.
But, here are two fairly cool sites:

Plus, almost all states have considered raising the cig. tax as a means of balancing their budgets.

So sure of himself. He pretty much said that autopsies (is that the correct plural spelling?) don't tell you anything because you can't figure out anything after the person's already dead. Really? Someone tell the people who write for C.S.I., okay?
And about her being blind, he said something along the lines of 'What, does that mean we should start killing all the blind people?'
And I loved it when he said that it's a tragedy that it's illegal to starve a dog but legal to starve a human to death.

Schiavo's Parents Dispute Autopsy Report
Thursday, June 16, 2005
LARGO, Fla. — An autopsy that found Terri Schiavo (search) suffered from severe and irreversible brain-damage has done nothing to sway her parents' position that she deserved to live and may have gotten better with therapy.
The long-awaited report Wednesday found Schiavo's brain had shrunk to about half the normal size for a woman her age when she died March 31 after her feeding tube was disconnected. The autopsy also determined she was blind.
Bob and Mary Schindler (search) disputed the results, insisting their daughter interacted with them and tried to speak. Their attorney said the family plans to discuss the autopsy with other medical experts and may take some unspecified legal action.
"We knew all along that Terri was profoundly brain damaged," said Schiavo's brother, Bobby Schindler. "We simply wanted to bring her home and care for her. It all goes back to this quality of life."
• Read the autopsy report (pdf)
The findings vindicated Schiavo's husband in his long and vitriolic battle with his in-laws that engulfed the courts, Congress and the White House and divided the country. Michael Schiavo (search) and court-appointed doctors have said she had no hope of recovery. She died at age 41.
The autopsy also found no evidence that Terri Schiavo was strangled or otherwise abused before her sudden 1990 collapse — countering allegations by the Schindlers that she was abused by her husband.
Yet medical examiners could not say for certain what caused the collapse, long thought to have been brought on by an eating disorder.
George Felos, attorney for Michael Schiavo, said the findings back up their contentions made "for years and years" that Terri Schiavo had no hope of recovery. He said Michael Schiavo plans to release autopsy photographs of her shrunken brain.
"Mr. Schiavo has received so much criticism throughout this case that I'm certain there's a part of him that was pleased to hear these results and the hard science behind them," Felos said.
The Schindlers fought their son-in-law in court over their daughter's fate for nearly seven years, battling to the end with conservatives at their side.
The autopsy counters a widely seen videotape the Schindlers released of Schiavo in her hospice bed. The video showed Schiavo appearing to turn toward her mother's voice and smile. She moaned and laughed. Her head moved up and down and she seemed to follow the progress of a brightly colored Mickey Mouse balloon.
Schiavo's parents said that showed she was aware of her surroundings, but doctors said her reactions were automatic responses and not evidence of thought or consciousness.
"There's nothing in her autopsy report that is inconsistent with a persistent vegetative state," said Dr. Stephen J. Nelson, a medical examiner who assisted in the neurological portion of the autopsy.
The cause of death was dehydration from removal of the feeding tube, but the underlying reason for her brain damage was officially listed as "undetermined."
The autopsy included 274 external and internal body images and an exhaustive review of Schiavo's medical records, police reports and social services agency records.
Pinellas-Pasco Medical Examiner Dr. Jon Thogmartin (search) said that the autopsy produced no conclusion on what triggered the temporary heart stoppage that caused her collapse and brain damage.
He said there was no evidence of drug use, though he cautioned that Schiavo was not tested in 1990 for every conceivable substance that could have been in her blood.
He said there was no proof she suffered from an eating disorder such as bulimia (search), which can disrupt the body chemistry with lethal effect. The main piece of evidence cited for an eating disorder — the low levels of potassium in her blood in 1990 — could have been caused by the emergency treatment she received at the time, Thogmartin said.
While she had lost more than 100 pounds since high school, Schiavo never confessed to an eating disorder, she did not take diet pills and no one had witnessed her purging food, the medical examiner said.
He discounted the possibility that she had overdosed on caffeine from drinking large amounts of tea in an effort to keep her weight down.
In addition, the autopsy found no traces of morphine in her system at her death, although she had been given two doses in the days before she died. The Schindlers had contended that morphine might have been used to speed their daughter's death.
In Washington, White House spokesman Scott McClellan said the autopsy did nothing to change President Bush's position that Schiavo's feeding tube should not have been disconnected. He had signed a bill, rushed through by Congress in March, that was a last-ditch effort to restore her feeding tube.
Experts said that the autopsy demonstrates how difficult it is for people to recover from severe brain damage.
"People should understand that sometimes, for known or unknown reasons, individuals sustain massive brain injury that for which healing is not possible," said Dr. Karen Weidenheim, the chief of neuropathology at Montefiore Medical Center (search) in New York. "Everything that could have been done was done for this lady for 15 years, and this case is very tragic."

Bush wants more information on Schiavo's collapse; call to 911
The Associated Press
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Gov. Jeb Bush said Thursday he might ask a state attorney to investigate allegations that Terri Schiavo's husband waited more than an hour to call 911 after her 1990 collapse.
Terri Schiavo's parents, Bob and Mary Schindler, have previously said their son-in-law waited more than an hour to make the call. An autopsy report released Wednesday didn't address the allegation.
"There's some doubt about when she did collapse and how long it took ... for the 911 call to be made," Bush said. "Which I think is worthy of some investigation. I don't know what form it would take."
Bush said he might ask Bernie McCabe, state attorney for Pinellas-Pasco, to look into the issue, but that would have to wait until McCabe returned from vacation.
Bush said the medical examiner shouldn't determine if there was a gap.
"This is really out of his realm," Bush added. "It's not a medical examiner's job to determine why there would be a gap if there was one."
Michael Schiavo's attorney, George Felos, didn't return a phone message Thursday.
Terri Schiavo died March 31 from dehydration after her feeding tube was disconnected despite unsuccessful efforts by Bush to keep her alive.
The battle between her husband and parents over whether she should be allowed to die also engulfed the courts, Congress, the White House and divided the country.
The autopsy supported Michael Schiavo's contention that his wife was in a persistent vegetative state and revealed no evidence that she was strangled or otherwise abused before she collapsed.
It's not known why Terri Schiavo's heart stopped, causing her collapse, but oxygen was cut off from her brain and left her with severe damage. The autopsy showed that she suffered irreversible brain-damage and even blindness, and her brain had shrunk to half the normal size for a 41-year-old woman.

Do you think they're to the point where they are so destroyed over the whole thing, that they HONESTLY believe that the autopsy needs to be disputed? Sadly, they are blaming Michael Schiavo for killing their daughter by removing the feeding tube, when in reality, their daughter was already dead years ago and the shell with involuntary responses was not what formerly was their congnizant daughter. I feel for them because that was their child and they apparently cannot accept the reality of the loss more than a decade ago or that Michael Schiavo was her husbad who tried to no avail for years to bring his wife back from the PVS. Once he determined that could not be done, he honored what he thought her wishes were, which is fully consistent with the sanctity of marriage. In the end, I wish family could find some peace.

Unbelievable! They are just flat out harrassing Michael Schiavo now. When I saw Jebbie on tv talking about this last night like Mr. Sciavo was some kind of criminal, it made me so angry. At this point, he must certainly have grounds for a lawsuit against these people.
From what I have read, Mr. Schiavo has made inconsistent statements about when his wife collapsed and when he called the EMS people to wit:
(CBS/AP) Gov. Jeb Bush said Friday that a prosecutor has agreed to investigate why Terri Schiavo collapsed 15 years ago, citing an alleged time gap between when her husband found her and when he called 911.
Bush said his request for the probe was not meant to suggest wrongdoing by Michael Schiavo. "It's a significant question that during this ordeal was never brought up," Bush told reporters.
As CBS News Correspondent Wyatt Andrews reports, Michael Schiavo's attorney calls the new investigation political pandering by the governor.
"It's just shameful and disgraceful that Governor Bush has for years used this case to perpetuate his own agenda,'' said attorney George Felos.
In a statement issued by his lawyer, Schiavo called the development an outrage.
"I have consistently said over the years that I didn't wait but 'ran' to call 911 after Terri collapsed," Schiavo said in the release.
In a letter faxed to Pinellas-Pasco County State Attorney Bernie McCabe, the governor said Michael Schiavo testified in a 1992 medical malpractice trial that he found his wife collapsed at 5 a.m. on Feb. 25, 1990, and he said in a 2003 television interview that he found her about 4:30 a.m. He called 911 at 5:40 a.m.
"Between 40 and 70 minutes elapsed before the call was made, and I am aware of no explanation for the delay," Bush wrote. "In light of this new information, I urge you to take a fresh look at this case without any preconceptions as to the outcome."
McCabe was out of state Friday and couldn't immediately be reached for comment, but Bush said McCabe has agreed to his request.
On Wednesday, Michael Schiavo's attorney, George Felos, said his client didn't wait to call for help and has conceded that he confuses dates and times. He has said that if Michael Schiavo had not called 911 immediately, as Bush and others allege, Terri Schiavo would have died that day.
"There is no hour gap or other gap to the point Michael heard Terri fall and called 911," Felos said. "We've seen the baseless allegations in this case fall by the wayside one by one ... That's what I would call it, a baseless claim to perpetuate a controversy that in fact doesn't exist."
Terri Schiavo died March 31 from dehydration after her feeding tube was disconnected at her husband's request, despite years of efforts by her parents, Bush and others to keep her alive.
The governor's request followed the release Wednesday of an autopsy supporting Michael Schiavo's contention that his wife had been in a persistent vegetative state. The autopsy revealed no evidence that she was strangled or otherwise abused before she collapsed.
It left unanswered the question of why Terri Schiavo's heart stopped, cutting oxygen off from her brain. The autopsy showed she suffered irreversible brain damage and her brain had shrunk to half the normal size for her age.
Bobby Schindler, Schiavo's brother, said Friday his family believes more questions were raised than answered by the autopsy report and that a new legal review is appropriate.
"Anything that can shed some light on the cause of Terri's collapse is going to be welcomed by our family," he said from Bloomington, Minn., where the family is speaking at an anti-abortion convention.
But the request was immediately criticized by some lawmakers.
"Enough is enough," said Democratic Sen. Ron Klein. "I don't want to see it on TV any more, I don't want to hear politicians talk about it. Let her be at peace."
Bush acknowledged in his letter that an investigation may be difficult.
"I understand that these events took place many years ago, and that you may not be able to collect all the relevant records and physical evidence. However, Mrs. Schiavo's family deserves to know anything that can be done to determine the cause and circumstances of her collapse 15 years ago," Bush wrote. "The unanswered questions may be unanswerable, but the attempt should be made."

All Mr. Schiavo needs to do is make an official statement to the police and the corner will testify that if more than an hour went by prior to calling EMS - Mrs. Schiavo would have died before EMS arrived, which took some time after the call was made. I mean it is highly doubtful that she went close to two hours without any significant amount of oxygen to her brain. Moreorever, nothing I read in the coroner's report suggested any fould play by Mr. Schiavo. Interestingly, to my knowledge, Mrs. Schiavo's oarent never mentioned foul play until they had a falling out with Michael Schiavo. I just hope her parents can find some peace. As for the politicians - God will judge them for how they treated the least of us and how they continue to do so.

Personally, I think those parents are nothing more than gold diggers. they got along FINE with Michael until he didnt give them any of his settlement....what a bunch of goobers. They even ENCOURAGED him to have a personal life apart from Terri......so, who are the real jerks here?

Again, if it were my child and her husband wanted to put her down and I thought, no matter how misguided I was, that she still had a chance or even if I did not want her to die though in a PVS, I would do everything possible to stop that from happening. That is what they are doing, as unfortunate and distasteful to me as their allies are - remember these vultures are preying on these people in their weakest moment. Thus, I feel for her parents though they are pro life, speak at pro life pow wow's, etc. I mean from their point of view, all they and we have in the end is Mr. Schiavo's word that Mrs. Schiavo wanted to not to be kept alive in a PVS. Though legally sufficient, that would be a hard pill for any parent to swallow - who wants to let their child go?

It must be hard to find but I'm sure that's what many people say when they look at her parents--I hope that I would be able to let her go.
But I agree with Mary's critcisms of them. I thought it was ridiculous how they encouraged Michael to go on with his life and then later condemned him for making that choice.

To be fair and in a nutshell, I believe they urged him to get on with his life and said they would take care of their daughter - they did not say get on with your life and kill what is left of our daughter  That is a different situation altogether. I am not saying they or even Mr. Schiavo have behaved very well, I am just saying the parents must be in a hard position and the vutures in the world have preyed on that.

Wrong again, counselor  I dont HATE them, I said I dont RESPECT them. They lost all credibility for me when they aligned themselves with the pro-life wackos. (by the way, you are right about the pro-life fanatics taking advantage of their vulnerability, I think that is heinous) I think it is disgusting, too, to have the PRESIDENT and Congress involved...Also: The fact that the in-laws had no problem with Michael until he refused to pay them from his settlement shows me there is more than one agenda here. As I said before, I can understand a parent wanting to keep their child alive, but at some point (say 15 YEARS?????) you have to ACCEPT that the medical community KNOWS what it is talking about and that no matter how much they wish it were otherwise, their daughter is beyond any hope of recovery, and continued denial of the truth only prolongs the inevitable.
Bringing up new issues now (like the alleged "time lag" between the collapse and the 911 call) makes me wonder why this very thing wasnt brought up in any of the Court battles? They are showing their true colors in their ongoing effort to smear their son-in-law who has yet to be shown guilty of ANYTHING. No, I certainly DONT respect them, and the more venom they spew, I find it harder and harder to sympathize with them.....
You keep misinterpreting me even tho I think I am crystal clear :distress:

The parents never accepted that their daughter wanted not to live like that and there is little proof she actually said that. So to say that after 15 years the parents should accept that on faith and then go along with killing what was left of her is unfair because it puts your notion of what they should do on them  I mean if you go by that, then all people in PVS should be killed after 15 or so years regardless of intent.
Also, they did not believe Mr. Schiavo when he said conveniently years after the fact that after all of his trying to help his wife, he essentially suddenly remembered a conversation they had about this topic  I mean isn't it odd that he never once mentioned it for years  I get that he was trying to help his wife all along, but the timing is a little suspicious.
Finally, the articles indicate the discepency in the time was first noted in , I think, 2003, when this was at the appellate level and all facts were found.

AGAIN you misunderstand me! I SAID that after 15 years the parents should accept the MEDICAL PROGNOSIS that the daughter was BEYOND any help from therapy  As for when Michael allegedly brought it up, I have read nothing to indicate that he "conveniently" remembered years later, it was MY understanding that he maintained it right along and that it only became an issue when various treatments/therapies and tests showed that Terri was indeed in a PVS. There's no need to discuss it untill its OBVIOUS that it is in fact the case.....surely even you can see that? I mean, you dont start talking PVS right at the beginning, that would be premature.......
as for the time lag, if it was mentioned in 2003, Im assuming that the appellate court found no merit in it because that particular horse never ran.
its time those folks woke up and smelled the coffee for cripes sake.
as for what anyone in a PVS should do, that depends upon the stated preference of the patient, and/or the family members upon whom the decision falls. But I DO think there comes a threshold where hope/faith must reconcile with reality. At some point, you have to accept God's will. If he/she chooses to intervene with a miracle, praise be! if not, it wasnt meant to be.

Husband Buries Terri Schiavo's Remains
Monday, June 20, 2005
TAMPA, Fla. — Terri Schiavo's (search) husband buried her cremated remains Monday, inscribing on her bronze grave marker "I kept my promise."
The inscription inflamed Schiavo's parents, who had waged a long legal battle to keep their severely brain-damaged daughter alive. They also complained that they had not been notified about the service beforehand.
Michael Schiavo (search) — who said he promised his wife he would not keep her alive artificially — also listed on the bronze grave marker Feb. 25, 1990, as the date his wife "Departed this Earth."
On that date, Schiavo collapsed and fell into what most doctors said was an irreversible vegetative state.
Schiavo actually died March 31, nearly two weeks after her feeding tube was removed by court order. The grave marker lists that date as when Schiavo was "at peace."
David Gibbs, an attorney for the woman's parents, Bob and Mary Schindler (search), decried the inscriptions on the marker.
"Obviously, that's a real shot and another unkind act toward a grieving mom and dad," Gibbs said.
Two days after Terri Schiavo's death, the 41-year-old was cremated and her husband was given possession of her remains.
Michael Schiavo had said her ashes would be buried at a family plot in Pennsylvania. But on Monday his attorney, George Felos, said in a statement that the service and burial had taken place at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park in Clearwater.
The statement did not explain why Schiavo, who lives near Clearwater, decided to keep his wife's remains in Florida. He did not return a phone call seeking additional information.
Schiavo's parents had opposed her cremation and hoped to bury her in their adopted state of Florida. Services for Schiavo already had been conducted in nearby Gulfport, where her parents live, and in Pennsylvania, where she grew up.
The Schindlers' attorney said the family was notified by fax only after Monday's service, when the family had already started getting calls from reporters.
Felos' statement said the Schindlers were notified of the service and burial.
A pond and fountain also mark the woman's grave, where the flat bronze marker was festooned with flowers Monday evening.
Terri Schiavo collapsed in 1990 after a chemical imbalance caused her heart to stop. She left no written instructions in the event she became disabled, and her husband said she never would have wanted to be kept alive in what court-appointed doctors called a persistent vegetative state with no hope of recovery.
Her parents, however, doubted she had any such end-of-life wishes. They maintained she would benefit from rehabilitation, despite most doctors saying her condition was irreversible.
The seven-year battle engulfed the courts, Congress, the White House and divided the country.

I have to say it was inappropriate - IMO to use her grave as an IMO undisguised screw you to her family, though they probably deserve such, is just tacky. But, at least he kept her remains in Florida where they live.
 that's pretty weird to read. February 25 is the day my sister died. 1994 though, not 1990.
I don't know. I can understand that that's what it feels like for the husband, that she actually died that day already. For me personally, the day when my sister ended up in hospital a week before she died, is just as heavy and important a day as the day she finally died, because she was already 'gone' then.
I can understand those parents not wanting to give their daughter up.. but for 15 years? That's denying the truth, I think.
But different people deal with such situations in different ways, you can never predict what it will feel like for you when you end up in that situation with that choice.
And that grave-text.. that's not exactly thoughtful to her parents, no.

I agree with you.
To put the 1990 date in there is just as much denying the "truth" of the situation as what the parents do when they say she could communicate with them.
Yeah, I guess you're right..
although... heard on dutch tv from experts that you couldn't really say she was 'alive' the past years though, you'd better describe that situation as 'postponed death'.

What Happened the Night Terri Schiavo Collapsed?
Friday, July 01, 2005
This is a partial transcript from "Hannity & Colmes," June 30, 2005, that has been edited for clarity.
Watch "Hannity & Colmes" weeknights at 9 p.m. ET!
ALAN COLMES, CO-HOST: Earlier today, Sean spoke with the parents of the late Terri Schiavo (search), Bob and Mary Schindler, and former LAPD Detective Mark Fuhrman about the night their daughter collapsed and Mark's new book "Silent Witness: The Untold Story of Terri Schiavo's Death."
(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)
SEAN HANNITY, CO-HOST: Thank you guys for being with us once again. It's good to see you guys. And first of all, you read the book?
MARY SCHINDLER, TERRI SCHIAVO'S MOTHER: I did.
HANNITY: And your thoughts?
M. SCHINDLER: My thoughts were I am so excited that somebody is finally investigating what happened to my daughter.
HANNITY: And you want this to go further?
M. SCHINDLER: Absolutely.
HANNITY: Bob?
BOB SCHINDLER, TERRI SCHIAVO'S FATHER: I just thought it was a long time in coming. And in reading through the book, I think that Mark did an outstanding job of presenting factual evidence.
HANNITY: You start out in the book, and very early on you talk about the conflicting stories and how Michael testified he didn't see Terri the morning — they didn't have a fight.
MARK FUHRMAN, FORMER LAPD DETECTIVE: That Saturday morning on the previous day.
HANNITY: That's correct.
And so you go through a series of these issues. And you lay out six possible scenarios of what you think may have happened. Quickly, run through what you think may have happened then.
FUHRMAN: Well, you know, it goes from the least culpable or least damaging...
HANNITY: And that would be...?
FUHRMAN: Well, that she collapsed and Michael panicked, that he tried to render some assistance but he failed. He was embarrassed to say how much he did or how much he didn't do.
It goes, you know, progressively worse. He hears a thud, doesn't respond. They have an argument. He's stubborn, mad, doesn't care, whatever the situation.
It goes on from there that he actually witnesses it or is an argument and actually sees her having difficulty breathing with her heart, that she collapses and he doesn't render assistance.
Or they are in a physical altercation where she is accidentally or intentionally pushed. He falls on her.
There are so many scenarios that can account for the evidence we have. But 15 years later, without Michael ever having to account for that time before 5 and after 5, we have a problem here that it is a hypothesis and the hypothesis has got to be one of the six.
HANNITY: Do you want a grand jury? Do you think there's enough evidence to start a grand jury investigation into the case and into Michael Schiavo?
FUHRMAN: Absolutely. I mean, you have Michael Schiavo that can't seem to get anything right. I mean, you're either the village idiot or you're hiding something.
HANNITY: Then why the law enforcement — you know, and you go back and you were meticulous in every aspect of investigating this case, from the heart attack to the bulimia to the family background to the broken bones to the PVS state. You walk through the entire scenario in this case.
But you start in the beginning — the day she collapses. Walk us through that day and this time line. Walk us through how the police handled through. Walk us through and explain why these questions weren't asked in the beginning?
FUHRMAN: Well, you know, Sean, first thing is, on Saturday — Michael Schiavo, he works nights. Friday night he worked I think about until midnight. He sleeps in until 10 or 10:30.
Terri does the weekly shopping in the morning. When he gets up, he usually sees her. She went to a hair appointment, came back. Michael Schiavo will not commit, but he won't deny he saw her before she went to work. They had an argument.
There's two people that we can verify, Bobby and her friend, absolutely they had an argument that drove her to the point of being in tears.
HANNITY: Isn't this something the police would have been able to determine very early? Isn't this something they would have been able to, you know, ascertain quickly?
FUHRMAN: They asked. They asked, but…
HANNITY: Why didn't they follow up on it?
FUHRMAN: I want you to just imagine this, if we can fast forward at the emergency room, early morning hours of Sunday. Terri is fighting for her life. The police ask Michael a few basic questions: have you had any major arguments. Michael says no major ones.
At this time your wife is fighting for her life and here you're playing word games with the law enforcement officer asking questions about the collapse of your wife.
HANNITY: In all of that time though, why wasn't there somebody in the law enforcement community, because the police were called in earlier that night — and you write about this and that was the report — a 26-year-old girl in seemingly good health just collapsing.
Why wasn't there somebody that said, "Wait a minute; we need to go into this a little further?" Why wasn't there along the way anywhere, a detective or law enforcement officer that said, "We need to look at the inconsistencies here?"
FUHRMAN: Well, there should have been right there. I mean, Officer Brewer, he did have a rookie. It was at the end of their watch. They responded to this call because the fire department said something is unusual here, send a police unit. They asked a couple of questions. They waited for a toxicology to come back and make sure there were no drugs.
They looked at her physically and there was no visible signs of trauma. There was nothing on the CAT scan, so they just assumed there was nothing there and they left never to return.
There was no police investigation. The one follow-up question that should have been made, no major arguments, well, no major ones. What do you mean by that? Could you tell me about the minor ones? Did you have an argument yesterday?
HANNITY: About what her friends were saying?
FUHRMAN: Everything. There was no investigation done whatsoever, even at a later date. If I can come in 15 years later without a badge, search warrant powers or any subpoena power and be, you know, pretty much shunned by the people that you're actually focusing on the investigation, like Michael Schiavo and his attorney, if you can still reach conclusions from what depositions, trials, and statements to the police, even how minimal they were, you can imagine what a detective could have done 15 years ago.
HANNITY: Well, you bring up the detective side, but there's also a media side of this. Conventional wisdom, Bob and Mary, was that your daughter was bulimic. But she had lost her weight, what, about 70 pounds, how many years earlier prior to her collapse?
M. SCHINDLER: When she was 18.
HANNITY: And she was 26 at the time, so it was seven years earlier.
M. SCHINDLER: Right.
HANNITY: She was not bulimic?
M. SCHINDLER: No.
B. SCHINDLER: And we're being vilified for asking what happened to our daughter? We want to know.
HANNITY: You want a grand jury investigation?
B. SCHINDLER: Absolutely. Any parent would want to know what happened to their daughter.
HANNITY: Good to see you both again. Thank you.
M. SCHINDLER: Thank you.
HANNITY: Mark, congratulations on the book.

OMG. When all else fails, whip out a racist, dirty cop from the frigging OJ trial.
His book on the Moxley murder put Michael Skakel away and while I admit, it sure looks like he did it, that whole thing is pretty convoluted. I don't know.
Personally, I think Mr. Schiavo is not guilty of any wrongdoing. But the parents just cannot let it go.
I hope Fuhrman doesn't write a book about this to make a bunch of money and then Mr. Schiavo ends up being drug through the courts yet again. (ON EDIT: too late, he has written a book)
I honestly wonder if at this point he (Mr. Schiavo) wishes it was he and not his wife who suffered that ultimate fate.

Prosecutor: No Criminality In Schiavo Collapse; Bush Ends Inquiry
POSTED: 6:22 pm EDT July 7, 2005
UPDATED: 6:26 pm EDT July 7, 2005
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- There is no evidence that Terri Schiavo's collapse 15 years ago involved criminal activity, said a prosecutor asked by Gov. Jeb Bush to look into the case.
Bush, who asked State Attorney Bernie McCabe to further investigate Schiavo's case after her autopsy last month, responded Thursday by saying he considers the state's involvement with the matter finished.
"Based on your conclusions, I will follow your recommendation that the inquiry by the state be closed," Bush said in a two-sentence letter.
In asking McCabe to look again into what put Schiavo in a persistent vegetative state, Bush had cited an alleged gap in time between when Schiavo's husband Michael found her and when he called 911 as something that remained unsettled.
McCabe said, however, that while such discrepancies may exist in the record, Michael Schiavo's statements that he called 911 immediately had been consistent.
Terri Schiavo died March 31 from dehydration after her feeding tube was disconnected despite efforts by Bush, her parents and some state national lawmakers to keep her alive.
Michael Schiavo had fought to have the tube disconnected, saying his wife wouldn't have wanted to remain in such a state.
