I do nt think there is any evidence she is a bad mother  In fact, I think the evidence is quite the contrary in that she moved away and left Hollywood to raise her kids. So, I think she will be a good mother to this child as well.

I opened this thread because, contrary to any shred of sense, I am interested in this stuff sometimes. :p Plus, I like Demi, I think she's really, really, pretty - although not a very good actress.
Okay - first, I didn't know she smoked - she looks pretty darn good. Never seen her with one...and she has 3 kids, besides, so.
second - she's waaaaay over her kid quota! 4? geez, is she mormon? Luckily, she does seem to be a good mom. :)

The rumours claim she spent $350,000 on surgery for Charlie's Angels. I don't buy it for a minute. $350,000 worth? No bloody way.

Though her tit job is so horrendous it makes her look like a Columbian drug mule.

The apocalypse is upon us.

I wouldn't be speaking of impending doom quite yet. This is, after all, Star magazine. Not exactly top notch journalism, if you know what I mean.

This is, after all, the same magazine that in 1996 printed an article titled "She's the One!" in which they claimed that (and I quote) "Singer Stevie Nicks has shed a massive 60 pounds and landed rocker Tom Petty-- for the second time." In that article, they claim that the two "renewed their romance" after Tom divorced his wife Linda after 21 years of marriage. (BTW - Tom's ex-wife's name is JANE, not Linda.) And that Tom and Stevie "were first linked in the early '80s, shortly after Nicks divorced her second husband." They also got the name of one of Petty's daughters wrong. And the only quote they could come up with? Something Petty had said in a Rolling Stone article two years earlier, where he was discussing the fact that he and Jane had their fair share of tough times but were sticking it out anyway.
Now maybe, hopefully, Star has gotten better about checking their "facts" before going to press, but I doubt it.

Ashton was on Letterman last nite - he seemed to dance around the subject quite a bit - but for the most part denying and kidding about it and saying, "Well, we DID have sex last week, so I guess it's possible...if she is pregnant, she's not showing yet...why am I always the last one to know these things?"

Have you seen her episode of the E True Hollywood Story? I think it was a cut above the rest because it actually delved into why her career started to tank. She was never a proven box office draw on her own and she took roles that Hollywood believed alienated male audiences (GI Jane, etc.) by threatening their masculinity and roles that alienated female audiences (Disclosure, Striptease, etc.) by coming across as an unrealistic sex kitten. They pointed out how her roles were always one extreme or another after so long. I thought they had some good points, too, it was pretty good.

I do think she's gorgeous and that voice makes me weak in the knees.

You know, I was visiting my friend rain, (cable) and I actually did see that! I remember more the parts that said she was hyper controlling and very diva when she was making the big bucks per picture. And the part where she was young and very ambitious, very canny, very "eye on the prize", and whatever it took to get it. But yeah, now that you mention it, I remember the "alienating audiences" part. They also talked about how she was perceived as (and pretty much was) being very cold. FYI, she's a scorpio with moon in Pisces - suprising she's so cold.

She never picked warm roles, that's probably why people viewed her as cold. I mean, look at the resume:

GI Jane (butch and masculine Navy SEAL)
Striptease (stripper)
Disclosure (nympho who tries to rape someone)
Now and Then (chain-smoking downer)
Charlie's Angels (hit woman)
Indecent Proposal (tramp  )
Scarlet Letter (adulterer and masturbation with a candle...)

She was supposed to be warm and sympathetic in ghost, and I thought she did okay with that. And I think in The Butchers wife she was supposed to be warm. In a few good men, she was ok. Honestly, I think she is more compelling in the 'bitchy/sexy' roles, myself. And, in Striptease, she was supposed to be sympathetic, just as a stripper. I believe she is actually pretty calculating in real life, though, If not cold - I really couldn't say. But she did pick some crappy, crappy movies. And she should never, ever, try to be comedic. EVER!!!!

I read the book Striptease and it's still one of my all-time favorites, it's HILARIOUS. Then I went to the movies to see it and, literally, walked out. It was simply a vehicle for her to display her newly acquired (and heinous) tit job and for the audience to sit and wonder what the plot was. One of the worst things I've ever seen in my life. Just atrocious. I almost threw up at the sight of Burt Reynolds covered head to toe in vaseline. Nightmarish, I tell you!

Yeah, they sure made a mess of that one. Carl Hiaason (sp) is funny, and like I said, she should never be in a movie that's supposed to be funny. Whoopi was funny in Ghost, but the movie wasn't supposed to be light, so that's why it all worked out. There's just something heavy/serious about her presence. I noticed in Charlie's Angel's - the other girl's acting made the movie's tone sort of light and fun, but when Demi came on, the whole vibe changed. Yes, I know she was supposed to be evil, but still her vibe was discordant with the rest of the movie, somehow.

Because Deconstructing Harry was fabulous.

No one compares to the great and, in my eyes, legendary Judy Davis, though. I would watch her sleep and be endlessly fascinated. One of the best actresses to ever work. I still remember when I first saw her in Husbands and Wives, I was struck dumb; I had never seen such shocking intensity. She borders on being so brilliant and astonishing that sometimes I can't even watch her because I get so overwhelmed. Her opening scene in Deocnstructing Harry certainly did that to me.
