Well, I started making all sorts of plans to go, then I thought "you must be one crazy bitch to think your husband (who's laid off from work right now, btw) is going to let you fly out to Vegas for the 2nd time in 6 months only to see Stevie at the same time the addition is scheduled to start being put onto the house!"

So at dinner I said "So Stevie's playing Casar's in Vegas in May." He goes "I don't care." I say "I don't suppose I can go for my birthday?" And he says "No way...wait, do I have to go with you?" I say "No, Theresa will go with me." He says "OK, go ahead. But you're not spending our income tax refund." I say "That's OK, I'll just use my overtime money." He says "Well, you just better hope I'm working by then."

I knew I married that man for a reason! The only crappy thing is I can't get ahold of Theresa - she's in Daytona at Bike Week! I asked her if she'd go to Vegas if the rumours turned true & she said yes, but still. I want to double check before I go ahead & make us reservations! So, yeah, I guess I'm pretty much in!

Yes!!!! Sorry about your husband. That's funny, you said "I knew there was a reason I married this man!" and I was thinking "i'm sooo glad i'm not married!"  Not really, though, just for this type of thing - it's nice you have such a great relationship and all....

I don't mind being married at all - of course, we'd already been together 10 years before we finally got hitched, so it's not much different. We really don't ask eachother "permission" to do stuff, but I figure I'd better check it out before I blow $1000 of our money, yaknowwhatimsayin? Of course, if he wanted to go to Vegas without me & see Jackyl or some Godawful crappy band that he likes, there'd be no f*cking way. Let's just say that I'm the responsible one. And he agrees.

Anyhoo - I'm looking into it, but I'm probably aiming for the first and/or second show. The weekend will be way too expensive to pull off. I'm researching whether it will be better to go through Funjet Vacations (they have direct flights chartered through Southwest & you can pretty much stay where you want) or try Expedia/Travelocity etc. So far Funjet's winning.

Did you try cheaptickets? just curious, I'm new to the whole "travel package" thing...I'll check out yours, too. It would kick ass if I could somehow go to all of them, but since I'll probably be going alone, I'm trying to see who's going when. For future reference, Southwest has tons of cheap direct N/S flights from Buffalo to Vegas. Phoenix too. You can do a 4 night in Vegas with a direct flight there & back for less than $500 if you book ahead.

I'm really sorry about NOTS, but when there's a real chance for me to see Stevie, I have to take it. I've wanted to go to NOTS for the past few years & never have. Great guy ;). Is Theresa the friend you were with at the rehearsal?

If it helps, I checked out every hotel on the strip last week, and the Flamingo, the Monte Carlo, and Excalibur, are the most affordable places that have vacancies that week. I booked at the Monte Carlo... personally I think that is the nicest of the three, but the Flamingo is right across the street from Caesar's.

But yeah - it's a bummer that I won't be able to join in the Ledgie fun there in Vegas - but whatev...another time another place :D

And thanks for the heads up on Southwest...it's usually cheaper to fly out of Bufallo - stupid small Rochester airport

No, that was Kim. I met Theresa through here & Mick's Chat, and we actually met at the Toronto show. She's Bikerchic here.

How were the prices at Monte Carlo? We gambled there a bit, since we were right next door at Boardwalk. I like to stay cheap so I have money to shop & eat! :) BTW - it's not a far walk to Caesar's from Monte Carlo at all. Oh - and there's a CVS drugstore next door AND a McD's & Denny's right across the street, as well as M&M world.

I was telling Amber it's probably going to be a lot cheaper for me to do a vacation package through Funjet. Direct flight and we can stay almost anywhere - of course, the price increases depending on where we choose. I'll book as soon as I get the OK from Theresa.

Ah, sorry. I think you told me that before. Anyway, cool... hope to see you again then! :D. The Monte Carlo was right around $1,000 for 4 people/5 nights, so it worked out to $250 per person. The Flamingo is roughly the same. The base price would be less for only two people, though.

Yeah, I know the Monte Carlo isn't too far away either but when your friends take forever to get ready... being able to just run across the street is nice

I'd like to, but I'm not sure yet. I want to be able to see her locally if the summer tour pans out too, plus I'm dying to see Tom Petty and I want to keep a little stashed away in case Lindsey ever finishes recording and springs a tour on us as well (though that's not bloody likely.) I just booked for 5 nights since you can always change it later. It kind of depends what tickets are available... if there's nothing decent I might just plan on one or two and play the rest by ear.

Oh yeah - welcome AMY!

Yes, and there is a Walgreens across the street, too. I am sure that I will be at both places getting photos put on CDs and stuff.

I was going to stay at the Flamingo but I decided to go to Vegas for my birthday which is the 8th so I will be there from Sunday to Sunday which means more $. I found a better deal at The Casino Royale which is kind of across the street. Does anyone know anything about this place?

As for airfare I had a frequent flyer voucher from Southwest so that was all set. I just reserved the flight early this morning.

Now to get the tickets and I will be all set.

 Southwest usually has their new specials every Tuesday. You can even go to their website and sign up so that they email them to you every week. This way you don't miss out. Don't for get to sign up for their Rapid Rewards too. You really don't need to travel that far to earn a free ticket either. I got mine just from going back and forth a few times to Philadelphia. Phily is only about 35 minutes in the air time from Providence. One minute you get your peanuts and drinks the next they come and take all the garbage away.

I am going to Vegas free from a few $29.00 flights.

You can do better then that on Southwest. I got 2 roundtrip, nonstop tickets from Indianapolis to Phoenix for less then $400. Make sure you check their fun fares and internet specials.

Not this time. I've flown to Phoenix and Vegas in the past (both direct flights) for $198 roundtrip. It's too close to the travel date, so the $99 fun fares are gone - the best I can do directly through SW is $300 - add on 4 days at a hotel & I'm probably over the $500, plus they're not direct flights.

Funjet charters vacations (with Southwest) from Buffalo to Vegas a few times a week, they're all 3 or 4 star hotels & the flights are non-stop, so everything's all set without aggravation. Thanks though! :)

I would still check Southwest.com on Tuesday just to see if they do have any specials on a day that you might want to go. I just like to check everywhere. I changed my hotel about 3 times already.

All the funfares and internet specials are unavailable through SW....Philly to Vegas. Bummer. The flight times are also a bit sketchy. Very limited flights out of Vegaso n Sunday night..only red eyes really. I am changing to the first two shows cause of the return flight situation.
**If** I had no hubby and kids I would go for the whole week but two shows is cool, especially if she is playing this summer too. More affordable! I booked at Caesars figuring I can change or cancel, if I want to. Now the problem is getting tickets.

That's what worries me - will the first 5 or 10 rows be given out as comps? Will any be available to the general public? And what's with this friggin "fanclub presale?" If we do get the front rows, will we be able to stand at the stage, or will we have to sit down so we don't block the rich high-rollers' views?
